I'm glad someone bought the site of the old Irish shop and turned it into an ice cream parlor. It's in a great location across from Rotary Park and is just as cute inside as it is outside. King's has specialty sundaes and a number of unique flavors listed on their board. I ended up getting a small cup, and they were able to give me two flavors. I chose the honey lavender which was unique and delicious as well as the barn flavor. Don't let the name dissuade you. Barn has a chocolate ice cream base and is mixed with popular chocolate candy pieces, and it was just as good as the honey lavender. One suggestion we have is to post a sign that explains what is in each flavor. I love to try unique ice cream flavors but felt funny asking for more than 2 samples. If the flavors had descriptions (one is called Ube which I had no idea what it was), that would really help. By the way, we loved that the owner was working at the cash register and appreciated her enthusiasm. read more

The ice cream was delicious, but the prices were outrageous for 3 people. We ordered and went to the register, but they wouldn't ring us up, because she already had an order in there, even though the guy was taking his time and still adding to his ice cream. We had to wait another few minutes before we could pay, even though we already had our ice cream. It was a small place, and kind of packed. There were only 3 parking spots on site, so it made it hard to Get in and out. The guy at the liquor store let us park over in their lot, since we went there first but he was very nervous about us eating inside, instead of our car. We assured him we were going right back out. Wow this was a neat find! New ice cream shop in the area but with the service and quality of a shop thats been in business for a while. We ordered an ube ice cream with a vegan salted caramel shake. Both were delicious. Was impressed with how creamy the vegan shake was, with a prominent salted caramel flavor and dairy free whip cream. The ube ice cream was equally as rich in flavor. I wanted to try more ice cream on Monday night but the line was so long that it started to build at the parking lot. I came back the next day and it wasn't that bad. I had the peanut butter swirl as a soft serve and it was delicious. I could see pieces of peanuts and definitely tasted the peanut butter. Highly recommended. My husband had the cereal infused ice cream, he picked the peanut butter kind . However it was a disappointment, I couldn't taste the peanut butter at all. I definitely suggest that they put description on each ice cream especially the not-obvious ones. Barn: cookie dough, snickers, Reese's, and pretzel pieces if I'm not mistaken. I feel bad for the staff who has to repeat the contents of the ice cream to customers who asked about it. I also suggest that the management put anti slip mat by the counter. My husband almost slipped and so did other customer because there were drippings from melted ice cream on the floor so the floor was slippery Eventually the staff cleaned the floor. Spiffy new ice cream spot right in front of the park. The size small is huge but it was so good I somehow finished it... and then came back the next day for another one! I always opt for coffee ice cream and theirs has a nice smooth espresso flavor. Ambiance is great too with lively swing music playing and comfortable seating at tables indoors and outside. I know it is a Sunday in October in 2024 but come on! Small scoops for a WAY OVER PRICED CONE OF ICECREAM?!? I was even charged extra for selecting a sugar cone instead of a cake cone. Really? Then when I went to leave there was no apparent restriction on existing through the door you enter from so I ended up with the over priced cone ($10.50 for regular size scoop) dropping off the actual cone and into my hand. Wow! I could handl the disenfranchised staff as just one thing but everything was bad. I am not saying do not go here but for the price demanded for this store's offering one could buy a pint or two of quality gelato from the Wawa and just eat it in the park ot home with much better quality and satisfaction. read more

Ok the place looks new and beautiful from the inside and out .it's clean and and looks upscale . It is a little pricey but in cape may what isn't . But this is pricey for a good reason . My son got something called barn which is chocolate base and everything but the kitchen sink. My son loves it i asked for one scope but that one scoop feeds 2 people . I got the lavender infused soft serve. Comes with honey and granola, this is the best ice cream I had in my life . I can't say enough about it . I think they are a family owned and they had a line outside the door . They were nice , kind , gave out samples when asked . Didn't have an attitude because they were busy. Cute little place with a friendly staff that serves great ice cream. Half the flavors, including the ube, are sourced from another ice cream place in Northfield, NJ. While we were in Cape May, we visited this place several times even though there are several other ice cream shops that were closer to the beach. We came here mainly for the ube ice cream. After eating plain scoops of ice cream, we decided to try other things on the menu like their ube dream and matcha delight. The ube dream didn't have much of an ube flavor since the vanilla base overpowered it. But the coconut and honey was a nice combination. Would definitely come back again. read more

We decided to try this new place, looked cute and trendy. However, after coming to cape May for 15 years and frequenting Kohr Bros, King's Ice Cream does not live up to its decor and trendiness. The ice cream was too sweet and expensive. It was disappointing to find out from Staff that their ice cream, if not Jersey Cow, is "generic". Overpriced and not worth it. If you like trendy and cute, then it's perfect, but if you want good ice cream, try Kohr Bros or any other ice cream shop. read more

Third time was a charm! My husband and I are loyal Uncle Charley's ice cream enthusiasts, but when we learned of a new ice cream place, we had to give it a try. We tried waiting in line at King's twice around 9pm when the line was out the door. We could see the line was barely moving and decided fairly quickly to abort mission and head elsewhere with faster service. Last night (our third attempt) we arrived around 7:45pm with a line that was only inside the store! We waited about 10 mins. so not bad at all. The inside of the store is beautiful- pink and white with a lot of adorable (and expensive!) kids toys and candy from Sugarfina. Service is so slow, perhaps partly because they are so new and partly because most people order a sundae, swirl or milkshake which takes awhile to make. I tried the PB Ripple, Cookie Monster and Mint Choc Chip ice cream. I went back and forth on what to order since I wanted the brownie sundae but they were out of brownies. After changing my mind a few times, I settled on the cookie sundae with Cookie Monster and Peanut Butter Ripple ice cream, hold the whip cream. For the sundae, you have to choose between a chocolate chip cookie or macadamia and I chose classic chocolate chip. The sundae usually comes with vanilla ice cream but that's too plain for me so I chose PB and Cookie Monster. My husband ordered the S'mores Sundae (with the vanilla ice cream it comes with and whip cream). We paid and found one of the few tables outside (they also have a few seats inside the store). My cookie sundae was delicious- in large part due to the flavors of ice cream I selected, complemented by chocolate chip cookie and hot fudge. The hot fudge wasn't as thick as I would have liked and the cookie wasn't very warm and was a bit dry but it overall, it was delicious. I was a satisfied customer! My husband on the other hand was very disappointing with his selection. He thought the ice cream was good quality but lacked flavor. I agree- it didn't taste like a s'more. It was plain vanilla ice cream, a sprinkle of graham cracker crumble, with 2 marshmallows on a stick. They light the marshmallows on fire and when he finally blew it out, they were burnt. It tasted larger like plain vanilla ice cream. Not a s'mores sundae whatsoever. He says he will try the swirl next time (scooped or soft serve ice cream mixed with a cereal topping of your choice). I would also go back to try the brownie sundae. A solid choice of ice cream, especially if you want to try the swirl, sundae or a milkshake but likely won't be our go-to ice cream option. read more

Very disappointed in the product and price. We were excited to try the newest ice cream parlor in Cape May but the excitement was short lived. One of us got a medium chocolate hard ice cream cone and the other one of the specialty favorite swirls. The medium cone was a good portion size but the ice cream just tasted like a grocery store bought ice cream, and not even a good one. The specialty favorite swirl was called te Captain and again was a good portion size but was not something we would buy again. It cost $22 for the two...way overpriced. Insanely over priced. The smallest portion sizes. They claim to be homemade but they get their product from one cow which is a place in north jersey that home makes it. They don't do it personally there. Might as well go to Uncle Charlie's down the street on the Washington street mall for home made ice cream with giant scoops. This place if perfect if you wanna impress your friends by wasting your entire wallet on ice cream but you will definitely be in regret later that night. We had the privilege of being some of the first guests during King's soft opening. The owner welcomed us and shared their story and the staff were all so kind to help our children make their selections. The ice cream was pricey but so fun and worth the vacation treat. We loved the merchandise available and our daughter insisted on a shirt to remember this sweet shop!
