I really appreciated how transparent they are. Each stylist has a profile with a bio and a picture. The services and individual pricings are listed upfront in the booking portal, which made it easy to choose someone who fit what I was looking for. Price transparency is important to me, and at the very end I was charged exactly what I booked. My stylist was Mikayla, and she was incredibly meticulous/detail-oriented. She spent about 4.5 hours perfecting my Full Highlights, and I never felt like she was rushing through any part of the process. During the consultation, I felt heard. She listened to what I wanted without any judgment or pressure to steer me toward a different outcome. Instead, the conversation felt collaborative, with explanations that helped me make informed decisions. I know for some, having to chat for all that time may be daunting. Mikayla struck the perfect balance between friendly conversation and giving me space. She clearly communicated each step of the process before doing it. Colby really took the time to listen to what I wanted and understood exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to keep my long hair while adding movement and shape, and he absolutely nailed it. My hair finally looks the way I had envisioned. Beyond his talent, he was incredibly kind and thoughtful throughout the appointment. Before I left, he even let me know that if there was anything I'd like adjusted after living with the haircut for a few days, he'd be happy to take care of it. Aside from a few highlights around my face and on the top of my head, it didn't look like I had recently had my roots highlights touched up at all. My hair looks grown out as if I had not even had it done. Watch the video and you be the judge. When I brought up my concerns, the owner, I sent her this same video (Emily) explained that this is what the salon considers a partial ROOT highlight touchup. I already had my hair previously bleached . I respect that explanation, but for $240 plus a $50 tip ($290 total), I expected a more noticeable result. She offered to correct it for an additional $50. I have been getting my hair colored since I was in middle school, to completely date myself, that…read morewas over 25 years ago. 25 years, aka the 90s and I have had my fair share of great and absolutely horrific hair cut and color experiences. I was born platinum "toe head" blonde and it started to shift to strawberry then brunette. I began having my hair "highlighted" to get to more of a blonde result and even at a young age experienced stylists that would completely butcher my hair, frying it off from 12 inches down to an inch, getting cheesy spots from bad bleach jobs, trying solid and having bands of color, you name it I've seen it. I clearly had rotated my fair share of stylists from all walks of life. I finally landed on a stylist I found on Instagram for being a blonde specialist and I've been religiously seeing him up in Hollywood for my hair since 2019. I would literally take a flight from Vegas when I lived there to be able to see him, I'd drive sometimes 4/5 hours there and back just to see him because NEVER once did he butcher my hair. It always left gorgeous AND my hair is long which I've never been able to achieve without extensions and it has volume (or should I say, HAD). The thing about him is he KNOWS HIS LANE, he doesn't do cuts, he does platinum solid blonde (and extensions) and that is IT. No cuts. To TikTok I went. I had a friend who had it done in Vegas but needed to find someone local. I used her inspo photo when I found Chrissy and was connected to her assistant. I was quoted $495 for the cut. Paid $100 deposit. I get a text the night before asking me to come in at 8am instead of 9. No Mam, going to have to keep the 9 (won't get into why, a little silly I felt the need to explain why). Okay great I'm here for a few minutes, no one acknowledges me and the owner of the salon is greeted by a stylist as if she'd never met her before. This is who gets assigned to me. Chrissy is working on someone else's hair and in the zone. Assistant (never told me her name or introduced herself), walks me over I hear "she's just a cut" and I'm robed up and sat down. Chrissy makes her way over to me, asks me if I'm okay with the front bangs being this length and holds my hair to show me. I say I trust her. She tells the assistant wash twice then condition. Assistant felt like she'd never washed hair in her life it was the weirdest experience. I'm brought back to the chair and she walks around aimlessly for a minute like she's not sure what's next. Dry brushes my hair then more walking then grabs the round brush and starts drying. Another assistant comes over and she seemed really confident, starts blow drying the front and is super fast and felt professional. Then they start curing my hair. I'm thinking... is this intentional? I'm here for a cut, why would they use number one a curling iron on 90s style hair and secondly cut when there's curls!? That means my hair is going to be uneven because it's not straight ‍. But what do I know? The rollers were in for a max 3 min aka as soon as they finished the last one they pulled them out of my hair. No heat, no real time to actually work. Chrissy comes over and she starts cutting. I'm having an anxiety attack because the "blowout" was very much NOT 90s and very bad appointment at the dry bar vibe. She cuts away, and I'm watching 8 inches of hair fall to my lap. Cut dry, not held straight despite the spray curls and cut roughly along the edges for thinning. Nearly a decade of hair, gone without what felt like real care or strategy. I get a solid 5 minutes max with her. She asks if I want more layers, I communicate it's hard to tell what was done when there's spiral curls the layers are hidden in the spirals, it's impossible to answer that. Had it been like the photo I could tell. She says show me the inspo photo I pull up one she says it's ai I pull up another of my friend says it's ai again I say no that's actually my friend she got this haircut and I see her all the time this is how it looks. I'm then told it's because I don't have thick hair (mind you the woman helping me with my hair at one point commented about how much hair I have and how she couldn't imagine me with extensions). She was super nice, and a major reason I left a 22% tip even though I'm usually more of a tipper that equals closer to 30%... anyways - they bring over another girl and I just state I'm not wanting spirals the style is to have just the ends curled not spiral curls... so she helps me redo my hair and low and behold I'm a happy camper. Anyone "from" the 90s knows it's giant round brushes and curlers... oh and you can not forget the moose!! I wash my hair a few days later and my worst nightmare was a reality. I then obsess and find countless videos on achieving layers, 90s layers etc later... every... single...video... the hair was CUT when wet and strategically sectioned off. Not one person cut it dry and after curling.
