When I first arrived in Hamilton, I passed by a pho restaurant on my way to checking into the hotel. This occurrence planted a seed in my memory that I needed to get some pho during my recent visit to this city. Last Saturday, I was hungry after spending hours shopping. I did a search and found Made Pho You. Is it normal to be swayed by a punny restaurant name? Pho sure! Made Pho You is a restaurant in a small plaza that it shares with Hasty Market. There is parking, but it is limited. I had no problem backing into a spot and heading in. A nice man greeted me. He said that I could sit anywhere. I found a booth and sat down. The interior is older. I pretty much sank into my booth seat. I got a menu and reviewed it. What's different about the pho menu is that you can choose up to four different proteins. I have never seen that before! I got a medium pho, and chose rare beef and beef flank as my proteins. He took my order down and left. I got tea right off the bat. It was fragrant and helped me decongest my sinuses. He came back with a plate of garnishes for my pho. I got bean sprouts, mint, a chili pepper, and a lime wedge. Moments later, my pho had arrived. I thanked him and was ready to eat. I'm glad that I got a medium. It was packed full of protein and noodles. This place is generous with everything. I had difficulty putting my bean sprouts and mint in, and trying to mix everything together because it was that full. The broth was yummy. I loved the noodles. The beef flank was tender and was surprisingly lean. The rare beef was perfect. It was such a perfect comforting meal. He came over to provide the bill to me. Normally, I head up to the front to settle it. I did walk up and used my credit card to pay. I visited the washroom, which is a bit of a walk down a long corridor. It was weird that the door lock in the stall is at the bottom of the door. It's like you should lock it when you sit on the toilet and unlock it before you get up. It was that low. Weird. Anyway, the washroom was clean and spacious. It just seemed so far away. When I got back to my table to put my jacket on, it caught a tall twiggy plant in a small planter, which felt to the floor. I felt so bad and apologized. The nice man said that it was okay and that he'd take care of it. I felt so bad that I hope I'm not banned from coming here again and am labelled the plant destroyer. I am thinking that perhaps I'm not the only one who has knocked it over. Despite creating havoc on a plant, this restaurant has good eats. I'd come back again to see if I am still good to dine here. This was our first visit to Made Pho You. As other reviewers have mentioned, the decor is nothing to write home about but it's not that bad. We went at 2:15 on a Thursday and were the only customers. The waiter came immediately with menus and shortly thereafter with tea. The menu is fairly extensive, with all the usual suspects such as pho, vermicelli, rice dishes, noodles, etc. I had the vermicelli with spring roll, sausage and shrimp on a sugarcane. The spring roll was pretty good but with a wheat wrapper rather than the traditional rice wrapper. It tasted good though, so no complaints. The sausage was good and there were three slices, so not a bad portion. The shrimp on a sugarcane wasn't good at all. It was tiny (smaller than my thumb) and was chewy and dry. The bowl was filled with plenty of vegetables and chopped peanuts but no mint. My husband had the pho with tendon, tripe, rare beef and beef balls. The broth was fairly tasty, not the best we've had by any stretch of the imagination, but not bad. The portions of protein were ok, not generous. Lots of bean sprouts and plenty of basil on the side though. We sat for at least 20 minutes with our empty dishes but the waiter never came back to clear the table. The washrooms were basic but clean, but you have to walk down a really long, dank corridor to get to them. All in all, not a bad experience. We may return if we're in the area. Doesn't hold a candle to Mississauga Vietnamese restaurants though.

The interior is kind of dumpy. Fortunately the PHO is very strong. Great rare beef, nice pieces of chicken. Fair prices.

just went in for the first time tonight. the decor was a little bland. you actually get a server who takes your order instead of writing it down yourself like the other Hamilton Viet joints and Our server was actually pleasant and spoke to us..unlike the other Hamilton Viet joints. The food was okay. nothing too crazy. the portions were good and although we didn't get the pho, the broth from the BBQ pork and seafood soup we got was very clean and flavorful. I would come back again to try other things on the menu. the prices were reasonable and the service was friendly. it's nice to see something different in that corner.

Great service. Fast preparation time. Friendly inviting staff. Food quality is excellent, you get a lot for what you pay for. I would HIGHLY recommend.

Make Your Own Pho with rare beef, beef tripe and beef balls. Delicious broth!

The cheese won ton is excellent. Rare beef is okay. The ambiance is typical. The service was better than the average Viet restaurant.

The new additions of banh mi and bao round out the menu by offering slightly smaller meals at lower prices. We've tried lots more over our many visit, and have yet to find a dish we haven't enjoyed. The Vietnamese coffee is a treat, with a deliciously sweet mix of sweetened condensed milk and coffee. In terms of ambiance and service - the restaurant is spacious and the seats are nicely spread out. The noise isn't overly loud and you can actually have a conversation while you eat. The servers are attentive and check in often. The only disappointment we've ever had is the day we went to get a meal only to find out it was fully booked out for a holiday party. Now we know to call ahead of time in the holiday season - it sees others love this place just as much as we do!

For appetizer we ordered their spring rolls and bo la lot and both dishes tasted fantastic and savory. The peanuts on top of the bo la lot was a great addition and spring rolls were nice and crispy, both are great options to start your meal. For my main I ordered the bun bo hue and my family all ordered their bowl of pho. The pho broth was nice and light but still had great flavours from all the pho spices. My bun bo hue was also delicious and flavourful. A great bowl of soup to warm up the soul during the cold fall weather. The pieces of meat that comes with the bowl was also cooked well and was tender. We will definitely return whenever we come visit Hamilton area.

From the outside it doesn't look like much but inside it's quite inviting - there is a big fish tank! I had a classic vermicelli bowl with pork, spring roll and beef wrapped in green leaves. The pork was hot off the grill with a strong charbroiled taste. The beef in green leaves is something I have never had before and I found it to be a tasty little flavor addition to the meal. Spring roll was hot and crispy and also very good. The bowl had a good portion of herbs that makes for that fresh taste the is so much a part of Vietnamese food. My traveling companion had a spicy satay noodle soup with beef, which I had a few bites of and it was delicious. We are always looking for satay soup at Vietnamese places but it is sometimes hard to find. We were excited that Pho Lac Vien has such a great version of it. I really wanted to come back the next day and have one of those, but we were just passing through and will have to wait for the next time we are in Hamilton. We treated ourselves to Vietnamese coffees with condensed milk and ice - a perfect compliment to our food. All in all, a memorable meal and with very freindly service to round it all out.

I've only had Bahn Mi a few times and I have to say it was mediocre at best so I was expecting more of the same. Wow! Wow! Wow! McQueen's is like night and day with other Bahn Mi places. The taste and the flavors are of the chart. The place is just a sandwich shop with no seating and only about 6 offerings of Bahn Mi. I went with their classic recommendation The Saigon with was pork based with pork belly, pate and roast pork as well as some great veggies. But the standout was the bun ...crispy,crunchy,flaky on the outside and like a soft pillow on the inside. Delicious! I couldn't stop eating it once I started bite after bite... barely swallowing before the next bite.. it was gluttonous! I had found a sandwich which I would drive 45minutes to buy easily! The staff were extremely nice and feel they really care about putting out quality food! Easily a 5 star rating! Thanks McQueen's see you so
