We stumbled on this place driving thru to NY. Be warned they only take cash and debit- Canadian Debit! However there is a bank with an ATM next door to get cash out. The variety this place has on the menu is amazing. It took us a while to choose. I can't remember what exactly my son got but he said the broth was very flavorful and the quality of the ingredients in his Pho were very good. I had a soup with pork bone broth, wontons, baby bok choy. It was very light and mild. I wish I could have taken what I didn't finish home with me but we were traveling and can't cross the border with carry out or leftovers. We also ordered udon noodles stir fried. It came with Pork chicken and shrimp- they were generous with the shrimp. If you are ever in this area I highly recommend this place and if I am ever driving thru again I will go out of my way to eat here.

We ordered from here the other night and enjoyed our meal. We got the rare beef pho, a tiny yum soup with chicken and rice, lemongrass beef with noodles, and a few rolls and cream cheese wontons to start. We also shared a taro slush bubble tea. What a feast! All of the food was tasty, fresh and paired perfectly together. It was an amazing range of flavors and textures. The rice noodles were good but a little on the thicker size for my personal preference. There are so many more things in the menu! I can't comment on service or ambiance. All I know is a few rolls we ordered didn't arrive and we got doubles of one of the things. No big deal. I appreciated the paper straw with my bubble tea! It's a must try!

    Pad Thai, disgusting and inedible

I am only giving this a 1 star rating because I can't give it zero stars. I ordered the Pad Thai chicken and shrimp dish and it was absolutely disgusting! After eating 2 mouthfuls, I basically gagged. It was a congealed slimy mess. I wouldn't even feed this garbage to my dog, which is rich considering that he regularly eats the turds from the cats litter box. You should be ashamed of yourself, serving this garbage in exchange for hard earned money. Shame on you.

My friend said this place is affordable. At $7.50 a small bowl of pho with slivers of thinly sliced beef and a few small beef balls, I guess it was ok. I personally didn't like the taste of the soup base, but that's just me. The spring rolls though, was totally delicious with the fish dipping sauce. I can have quite a few of those lol. Service was so-so. We were given only one menu. Even though we tried to flag one of the servers, we were ignored. Not that the restaurant was busy at all. The food came along quickly. And at 9pm they started to mop the floor and cleaned up, even though their closing time was 11pm. I would definitely go back to order their spring rolls to go.

We've been to this location of Pho Dau Bo a handful of times in the past 10 years or so. Because we haven't been in quite few years, I'll base this review on yesterday's visit. I do want to add though, that the food has always been good here and that hasn't changed in the years we've been eating here. We were greeted as soon as we entered the restaurant and shown to a table. Our tea was delivered within a minute of us being seated and then another waitress arrived about 2 minutes later with another 2 tea cups and another pot of tea. She giggled when she realized her error and took the tea away. This became a bit of a theme during this visit. We ordered our meals (including one dish to take out) and waited probably 5-10 minutes maximum for them to be delivered to the table. While we were waiting however, we witnessed 3 separate dishes being delivered to a table across from us and every single time, a waitress would rush back to the table giggling, and remove the dish as it wasn't what they'd ordered. I'm not sure if this comedy of errors is a usual occurrence at this restaurant or if it was because it was Good Friday and maybe the owners/managers weren't there. Our food arrived and it looked and smelled great. My husband had the H TIU MÌ (KHÔ HOC NC) Clear Noodle & Egg Noodle with Seafood & BBQ Pork Soup. He's had this dish literally hundreds of times at many Vietnamese restaurants and he thought it was better than most, although not the absolute best he'd had. He thought it needed a bit of salt, but otherwise was very tasty. I had the BÚN THT NNG, NEM NNG Rice Vermicelli with Grilled Pork & Grilled Meatballs. This is a dish I've also had literally hundreds of times at other Vietnamese restaurants and I agree that mine was also among the best I've tasted, although not the absolute best. The 'meatballs' weren't actually meatballs, but more like a casing-less sausage that had been chopped into 4 pieces. They were nice and juicy and tasted really good. The spring roll was very nice, crisp and filled with just the right balance of taro to other ingredients. And I liked the fact that it didn't taste like it had been cooked in stale oil as is often the case. The noodles aren't the usual thin vermicelli noodles, but rather the thicker ones. I actually prefer these, so that's not a problem for me. The restaurant looked fairly clean, although the bathrooms could've used some work. The service left a little to be desired. When I went up to the cash to pay (no one approached us or even looked in our direction after our food was delivered), the server looked at me and said "yes?". So even though it's not a big restaurant, and we'd been seated close to the cash register, she obviously had no idea which table I was from. I paid and then she grabbed my 'to go' order and placed it on someone else's table. She then pointed at it and said "that's your take out". Rather awkward as the person who was seated at that table eating his soup had no idea what was going on. Our son's take out pad Thai was very well-received. He's had it (years ago) from Pho Dau Bo and he maintains it's one of the best, if not THE best around. It's just the right mix of spicy, sweet (not too sweet), salty and sour as a Thai dish should be. Something I'd like to mention here is that the prices aren't that great. For instance, the vermicelli dish I ordered was $8.50 which isn't bad. However, I usually order this dish with the addition of shrimp on a sugarcane. If I'd done that here, it would have been an extra $3.50. That would have made my dish $12. Pretty steep for a vermicelli dish. And if I wanted to sub. thin vermicelli, it would've been another $1. I almost ordered the Tom Yum soup (a favourite of mine) until I saw that it was $12.50!!! All in all, I'd have to say we'll most likely go back to this restaurant if we're in the area as the food really is very good.

Large Pho Tai Sach (left) and Bun Bo Hue (right) which comes with bean sprouts, basil, and lime! Each were $9.75

Pho Dau Bo has been a staple Vietnamese restaurant that I've always enjoyed as comfort Vietnamese food while I was studying in Hamilton. Recently, the Hamilton locations changed their names to Pho Dui Bo, but they are still under the same ownership according to the servers. Food: We ordered the Fresh Rolls with Shrimp and Pork (Goi Cuon Tom Thit), Rare Beef and Stewed Tripe Rice Beef Noodle Soup (Pho Tai Sach), and "Hue" Style Beef and Pork Jelly with Vermicelli in Spicy Soup (Bun Bo Hue). The fresh rolls were a light start to a filling meal! I wouldn't recommend eating these alone without the dipping sauce because they are pretty bland. The rolls are wrapped in a translucent rice paper with lettuce, mint, thick vermicelli noodles, boiled pork, and shrimp. The peanut sauce was an amazing dip that accompanied the fresh rolls - it has a tangy and sweet taste to it which adds a lot of flavour to this appetizer. The pho is a dish that I always get while I'm here. The noodle soup comes with bean sprouts, lime, basil, and cilantro on the side for you to add to the fragrant broth. I've always loved their aromatic broth, which reminds me of home but this time around, the broth wasn't as aromatic as I remembered. Still good but not the best pho I've had from them; however if you're looking for authentic pho in the city, Pho Dui Bo definitely is your best option. The noodles were a little too much to my liking and I would have appreciated a lot less noodles and more broth. The bun bo hue was a game changer! Bun bo hue is famous in central Vietnam and while this Pho Dui Bo is known for its pho, I feel as though the craze for pho overshadows the beauty of their bun bo hue! Think of this dish as a slightly spicy version of the pho but much better! The soup comes with cabbage, lime, basil, and bean sprouts on the side. The broth was incredibly fragrant and the flavours, combined with the meats and pork jelly, easily made this dish the best dish we've had from them today! I will probably get this the next time I'm here instead of my usual pho order. Atmosphere: This restaurant is your standard Vietnamese family restaurant that is very children friendly and pretty casual. Their restaurant is located around the downtown Hamilton area and is perfect for a quick lunch break, casual dining with friends, or for your rainy days. Service: The service here is not too bad. The servers are very attentive and greet you upon entering the restaurant, providing you with complimentary hot or cold tea to accompany your dining experience. What Pho Dui Bo is known for is their extremely fast service. We submitted our order and everything was out within five minutes. Even during peak hours, the orders come out very quickly and I've never been disappointed by the wait. Sometimes I think the quality of service is sacrificed as the servers become accustomed to providing their customers with food in the shortest amount of time, but for the most part, their food quality is always satisfactory to my liking. Price: The fresh rolls were $8.75 for 4 rolls, pho was $9.75 for a large size, and the bun bo hue was $9.75 and they only have one size. Their food is affordable, not too pricey, and I left feeling incredibly stuffed after eating the fresh rolls and pho. Verdict: Pho Dui Bo may have branched off from the Pho Dau Bo franchise but nothing has changed except their name. Their pho wasn't as good as I remembered but I will definitely be coming back for their bun bo hue! If you're ever in a rush for food and want to dine on authentic Vietnamese cuisine, Pho Dui Bo is perfect for that occasion and serves your food in record time!

Agree with the current 3 star rating. I really noticed a bad after taste from the pho. Service was average, food decent.. Better pho in the hammer.

Pho was ok the broth lacked in flavour. The noodles in the salad rolls were gross. The peanut sauce was sour which I didn't like. The spring roll we ok. Service we good and place was clean. Won't visit again.

Came with 3 sauces for dipping. My mom loved the fresh shrimp rolls while I took a fancy to the cheese wontons. At $12.99, the app is good for up to 4 people. - Main: Bun mam - a vermicelli soup made of fermented fish broth. A favourite of the local Vietnamese. The concept is the same as fermented tofu. Unique smell, but taste good. An abundance of seafood such as bass fillet, squid, shrimps, fish balls etc. Yummy. Worth the $12.99. You can also choose different size bowls.
