A fun meal overall, just needs a little more pep in the service step!

The menu is extensive and it was a challenge settling on just one but finally settled on stir fried chicken, shrimp, and beef with veggies on rice vermicelli. My dining partner had a grilled pork chop, fried rice, and fried rice. The entrees were competent (yet not spectacular), plentiful, and decent value. A nice change from the usual quick service fare. The room is fine. Again adequate without being spectacular. Lastly, we had enough to carry next days lunch away.

Pleasant surprise! I…read morewas in the area for work, and full disclosure, meant to try Cowabunga Pizza only to learn the don't sell by slice. I fortunately saw Em Oi when walking barely a block away and gave it a try. It seems to have two areas, though through the same entrance. The one is somewhat more formal dinning with a full bar, and I didn't check the menu however. But you can walk to the other area which also has a counter and is a bit more casual, selling baos, banh mi and a few other items. I went with the char siu banh mi which has the meat served warm. It was very tasty and the veggies were super crisp and the bun was excellent. The (likely) homemade mayo is a notch above as well and I liked that I could request some chili added. I also had the fried chicken bao. Fairly straightforward, but it a good way being made fresh with a generous piece of fried chicken in the bao with some sauce, cilantro and carrot. I loved it all and prices were fantastic. The banh mi about $8 and the bao I think at $5. The pricing would've been fair 10 years ago, so to have it like this now is great.

Not overly sweet, which I like. - Appertizer Specialty: khai vi dac biet - A combination of fried cheese wontons, deep fried Spring rolls, fresh shrimp rolls, and battered shrimps. Came with 3 sauces for dipping. My mom loved the fresh shrimp rolls while I took a fancy to the cheese wontons. At $12.99, the app is good for up to 4 people. - Main: Bun mam - a vermicelli soup made of fermented fish broth. A favourite of the local Vietnamese. The concept is the same as fermented tofu. Unique smell, but taste good. An abundance of seafood such as bass fillet, squid, shrimps, fish balls etc. Yummy. Worth the $12.99. You can also choose different size bowls. If you are absolutely famished, go for the extra large. Coz it's huge lol. Yet another reason to visit Hamilton added to my list!!

I brought several of my friends with me during Family Day (yay for Asian supermarkets for being open on holidays). FOOD: 5/5 1. CT51: Grilled Beef with Fried Egg & Broken Rice: This is my GO TO dish. My friend (who is Vietnamese) who also got a Com Tam was really impressed: "wow, they actually use broken rice here" and then after the first few bites, "okay, this is authentic. This is what it should taste like." 2. P25: This is my boyfriend's go to. Never any complaints and he finishes everything. The pho never makes me nauseous like other places do. The veggies provided are always bright and fresh. SERVICE: 5/5 It is soooo nice having staff recognize you when you walk in. The service is always warm and friendly. Best price and quality for Vietnamese food in the area.

For someone who visits Hamilton often to visit a family member (who's appetite is limited to…read moreVietnamese food), we visited many places within the city to try out the cuisine. After some time, we narrowed it down to Pho Nhung and for over a year, it's been a weekly visit since we got the stamp of approval from our family member. It's truly the best spot for Vietnamese food in the city. Our usual order consists of bun bo hue, pho dac biet, bun cha and chao long. The BBH is so flavourful here and packed with toppings. Pho broth is always piping hot and chao long is not a common dish found in Vietnamese restaurants. The only feedback I would share is that the springs rolls are heavily packed with taro and the quay (from the congee) is not necessarily the freshest. The service is great here and they treat us well as we frequent them weekly. Highly recommend visiting.

From the outside it doesn't look like much but inside it's quite inviting - there is a big fish tank! I had a classic vermicelli bowl with pork, spring roll and beef wrapped in green leaves. The pork was hot off the grill with a strong charbroiled taste. The beef in green leaves is something I have never had before and I found it to be a tasty little flavor addition to the meal. Spring roll was hot and crispy and also very good. The bowl had a good portion of herbs that makes for that fresh taste the is so much a part of Vietnamese food. My traveling companion had a spicy satay noodle soup with beef, which I had a few bites of and it was delicious. We are always looking for satay soup at Vietnamese places but it is sometimes hard to find. We were excited that Pho Lac Vien has such a great version of it. I really wanted to come back the next day and have one of those, but we were just passing through and will have to wait for the next time we are in Hamilton. We treated ourselves to Vietnamese coffees with condensed milk and ice - a perfect compliment to our food. All in all, a memorable meal and with very freindly service to round it all out.
