The owner was nice enough, but the product used was not good enough for hotter summers. It became foggy and purple and extremely dangerous. When I called back to ask about warranty, there was definitely some attitude from him. The Solar Free Tint manufacturing company also seems to not care very much about their "lifetime warranty" and helping find dealers for you. Just got my second car F80 M3 tinted here and looks great with no issues or bubbles. I had our Prius tinted 5 years ago and it's still great and no fades or bubbles, I read some horrible reviews below but I had no issues at all...I guess that's why I brought my M3 back. I understand Tim is old skool and not those slick talking over the phone salesman, but I think he's great at what he does and so far I am back to back satisfied with his price and svc. I know the tints are not 3M but after 5 years rain, sun and tornado since pretty solid and shit! Most companies came back with a mix up of plain tint, dyed tint, and ceramic tint.. and a variety of prices to do our windshields and sunroofs... It all seemed like mumbo jumbo to me, because I didn't know there were so many choices.. and, is it worth triple the price if the business used ceramic or dyed tint? But when you have to go back because your tint faded AND bubbled, he becomes an absolute JERK. This is my second visit to Made in the Shade Window Tinting and let me tell you, I'm impressed by how nice these guys are and honest! I took in the past my 2005 Accord which I still have and about two weeks ago took my 2010 Honda Civic. I visited Tim, the owner, which he does work on the cars and asked him about pricing for my 2010 Honda Civic. He said "I'll do it for you for $130.00 flat". I was like WOW! That is a deal and I'll be back to get this done. I called him and told him that he quoted me $130.00 to tint my Honda Civic. He said over the phone, "yes, if I told you $130.00 to tint the car, then that's what I'm going to charge you". Amazing! This guy and his brother are great. I dropped off the car around 11:00 AM and it was done by 2:00 PM. While I was waiting to pay Tim and the brother were really nice to me. Tim made small talk and asked me where I live and normal stuff. I live in Cypress as well and will take my third car here to get a tint job. The work Tim did was amazing!!! Great customer service and so quick to get it done!!!!

You would think a lifetime warranty means they do quality work. The tint started bubbling after three years. You would also think a warranty means if there is bubbling they would redo the job. I made an appointment with them at 9:15am. I came in at 9:05am showed them the original invoice and they noticed the license plate didn't match. I had a license plate change as the old license plate was mangled. So I rushed back home, found some paperwork that showed my old license plate number and called back at 9:16am. He said you can show me the paperwork and I'll review as for your appointment slot has already been filled. I drove to the shop anyways and got there at 9:20am to find no customers there. I showed him the paperwork and he said okay you'll have to come back another day, I've already filled your time slot. I was pretty respectful until he told me aggressively that he doesn't have time to work on my car today. The parking lot was completely empty and he was watching movies... I would give him two stars for the work that lasted 3 years, but his dishonesty and yelling at the customer earns him a 1 star. Also the tinted faded so much it's almost completely gone. I wish this went much better than it did, I didn't know this crappy customer service had existed. I've brought 3 different cars here. Funny how the level of customer service changes when your trying to utilize the lifetime warranty vs paying for service. read more

Appionment was finally made and the tint was fixed. I have not had issues with the window peeling since.

i lives in cypress for 51 years and always had my cars tinted at made in the shade. it was great when owned by casey berwick. the new owner tinted my 1993 bmw 325 and left finger prints on my rear window. when i asked him about that he said that that was embedded in the window and not fingerprints. i took it to get a second opinion at another tint shop and they said not only are they fingerprints but the was a lot of bubbles. he refused to redo and only offered to remove it. i even told him i would give him cash up front to redo it and if it was like he said the marks are, then he would keep all the money. I have got all my cars tinted from Tim in the last 10 years. Never had one problem, until my wife back windshield tint started to have bubbles earlier this year. It got worse that my wife was have problems viewing. We reached out to Tim to see what's going on. Tim said if you have a voucher it should be covered under warranty, however did not know exactly what the problem. Tim said most likely the product went bad. This was done in November 2012. I did not have the accrual invoice but did find the credit card statement with the Made in the Shade charge clearly shown. Tom would not honor it - saying needs the exact invoice. He said the regular fee to redo it again would be $60, but since I showed him the statement he gave $10 discount and redid he back windshield for $50. He is good guy, and his shop is clean. He certainly has a dry sense of humor. I will certainly go back to him again. read more

I hardly post things like this but MADE IN THE SHADE WINDOW TINTING in Cypress has definitely lost myself and others as customers. I used this place in 2013 to tint all windows on my and thenI moved out to Houston, registered out there and received new plates in 2015 and just moved back recently to the area and my back window is bubbling bad. Luckily (or so I thought) I kept my receipt and still had my old CA license plates that matches what's written on the receipt. I called before hand weeks ago to make sure all that I had will still guarantee the lifetime warranty and the owner states YES. However, when I went in today he denied me service because I do not have documentation of my VIN on the receipt. Nor do I have my old registration from 5 years ago and he suggested I go to the DMV to get proof. No, I don't have time to do that nor should I be doing all the leg work when I should be guaranteed lifetime service with all that I have. He clearly said everything was out of his hands. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!!! I will add, I eventually raised my voice after the continuous service refusal on his end, but someone like this who had terrible customer service, no paper trail of me being a past client and the refusal to help me out does not deserve the great review I gave back in 2013.
