Excellent service, on time, kept me up to date. We have used Maddox for open and closing of our home sprinkler system for years. This year, we needed a few replacement pieces on our 36-year-old system. Maddox identified the necessary repairs during tun-on this year and came back and fixed / replaced all the worn-out pieces. They installed the sprinkler system last fall, came out to winterize the system and broke both of the blow out valves . Never let me know. I go to turn it on and to my surprise they are blowing water only to notice the valves missing and the threads broken inside. I take an easy out to remove them, then plug them so I can turn the sprinklers on and water now blowing out the top. Called them and the lady that answered the phone said it was on her notes they broke them and are to be replaced in the spring. Again I had no idea. Now they want to make me wait two weeks with no rain in site. Brand new grass ??? Who's to say they even blew out the system. Anyways they are supposed to come out. I'll let you know how it turns out. I asked to have someone in charge call me, she said she would call back. My wife followed up and they told her we would have to wait. I highly recomend looking elsewhere for selecting an irrigation company, there are many companies out there that have to be better - the bar is not that high! They came out and did a start-up and a repair of a head at the start of the season, the start-up consisted of checking and allinging the heads. Upon running the system the first time, the emmitter that was replaced still did not work. I was told by there office manager that they have a 3 day grace period - which I was not tole, but non the less 3 days on the very emmitter that was replaced? All they want to do is BILL! read more

They just winterized my system. Paid $55 two weeks ago. Do not know if it was done in a complete manner. Received email stated it was done and guaranteed if 4 items were done. Called office told by manager she could not say if it was. Did we meet their 4 items. Could not say. She said we should go to another company. I agree. So should anyone else! read more

If I could give this company a "0" rating I certainly would. I prepaid $120 for a spring turn on service weeks in advance of them scheduling me. Once they did schedule me it was a day that was convenient for their schedule and they will only tell you when your 3 hour window is the day before. It makes it hard when you work to take time off with 24 hour notice. The techs said a sprinkler head was broken and replaced it. They demanded payment on the spot but couldn't take my credit card, wanted cash. I told them to have the office call me and I'd pay over the phone. Once I spoke with SHARON, who was completely UNPROFESSIONAL she said if I didn't pay that minute, she would send the techs back over to rip out the repaired sprinkle head. She was concerned with "closing her work order" and very inconsiderate and impatient as I was working and could not tend to her multiple calls (3 calls in 20 minutes) which I could not pick up as I was on a business call. RUN the other way from this place. They are rude, difficult, impatient and lack any kind of professional interactions. Sharon is the worst person you could have dealing with clients. Don't stand behind their work. First, gave me an estimate of $225 for the work, then when complete said it would be $475 as they forgot to include labor. Then, newley installed sprinkler head cracked, they said I would have to pay trip charge and repair fee if they deemed it wasn't their fault, but no way to know until they showed up and the charge was incurred. DISHONEST & UNETHICAL. DO NOT USE!!! This company purposely manipulates wiring, controllers and connections during their winterization process in order to create additional service needs during the spring start up. Through this "start up" they will also nickle and dime you with repairs they were unauthorized to do (i.e. "we just went ahead and replaced several heads that we noticed were damaged" and then tack them on the bill). I've also had them damage my intake hose 2 out of the last 3 years and then attempt to charge me for the service call visit while cleverly tacking on several unauthorized (and unnecessary) sprinkler head repairs. Each season, I have specifically asked them to NOT to disconnect wires on my controller (they still did). This season I asked them if they insist on disconnecting anything to either show me, take a pic or label what they disconnected (they didn't). This is the game they play to get you to use them each spring. This last season they stooped to a new unethical low point by loosening 6 main hose clamps on my 3 year old pump which caused impeller damage and nearly ruining the pump entirely. Coincidentally, my neighbors who jointly used them for our winterization also experience these exact same issue with one of them also having their 4 year old pump to burn out as well. These guys are shady and unethical...look elsewhere for honest service. read more

I called to have a system installed at my new house and The lady in the office was very professional and polite. Bryan came out to give me an estimate to have the install done and explained the whole process to me where I would understand it and why I need different things in different areas in the yard. He worked with me because my patio is not yet installed and helped me plan ahead. The install crew was GREAT! They got everything done in a very timely manor and made sure my yard looked perfect by the time they left. When my son ran over a head by my driveway they techs that came out were very polite and even got me to upgrade to a WIFI timer that way they can help me control my system from outside my home. I 100% would recommend them to anyone looking to get a system installed or even just need a service done. read more

I just had my sprinklers looked at. The technician left the side gate wide open when he left and both my dogs got out. I will never use Maddox again. The only consolation I got from the receptionist was a "sorry about that. I will talk to the techs about that". I would give a zero stars rating to take away from their three star rating read more

They don't stand behind their work what so ever. Scheduled a service call to check for a leak, they came and ran my system and couldn't find a leak. Had our system winterized 2 months later and the leak was easily found in the spot we had asked Maddox to check. After calling Maddox several times I spoke to Brian who told me they would call to schedule someone to come out and fix the issue, 2 days later I get a voicemail saying they aren't coming out. Love the $200 increase in my water bill due to the leak they missed. I'll just schedule another company to fix their shoddy work in the spring. read more

Very unfortunate to work with this company. Technicians came out and told me to reschedule, not mentioning a $25, thought it was all fine. Called to reschedule and was told about the fee, however the lady I spoke with was understanding, said they would reschedule me without the fee. Next day I get a call from them and state there is no way to avoid the fee and that customer satisfaction is not right in a cases. I guess not being reasonable to customers is fine to this company, I'll take my business elsewhere and I suggest others do the same. read more

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU LOOK ELSE WHERE FOR SPRINKLERS Maddox installed my sprinkler system and they had several issues with installation. First issue is the primary issue. They did a bore under my concrete sidewalk and the sidewalk shifted because of this bore causing a crack in sidewalk. Attempted to contact the company for a month and no one called me back. Today, the owner came out and argued with me that where the crack is not where the bore was; it was in the same square. At the end after I told him I was going to contact the better BBB, he stated he would have fixed it if I did not say that and he just left. I have a recording of him saying this. Second issue is during installation they cut my neighbors cable line and used electrical tape to put it back together. Third issue I had is that when they installed my sprinkler system they failed to put clamps on one section. When I called them about this last year about lots of water in the yard they told me it was not from the sprinklers. When they came out this year they admitted that they did not put the clamps on the line. I was paying for this all last year because of the water leak. . read more

Too bad we couldn't work something out. I put a deposit down this fall for an irrigation job and we had the November blizzard that stalled all of the irrigation jobs in southeast Michigan. I decided to wait until Spring to install sprinklers and I asked for my deposit back. They indicted my contract I signed states that deposits are 'Non-refundable'. I indicated that I didn't have a signed contract and it was a 'good-faith' deposit to get in line for jobs to start in early November. They refused to listen. I also called the City of Lake Orion to determine how much was paid for permits. I then offered to be reimbursed by 1/2 since they had to pull permits for a job they didn't start. They refused, stating again I had a signed contract in which I didn't. I disputed 1/2 the charge with my credit card company because it was the fair thing to do. They denied it again. In hindsight, all they had to do was work with me as I was willing to work with them. Correct their contract that indicates 'Acts of God' will not dispute the deposit. And, have a signed contract. Very basic business principles to live by. Buyer beware! We live in a day where you don't need a signed contract to have a judgement against you! read more

Terrible! Let's start with they give me the old "we will be there 8 am - 12 pm". Now 12:15 and nobody has shown up at my house and I call office. I get a crabby person who says :well they are coming from a long way". SO! Did they schedule this correctly? Is it not 2018? Do they not have a cell phone? Finally show up at 1:15. When I called for initial appointment I was very clear I HAVE COPPER SYSTEM YOU WILL NEED EXTRA TIME FOR REPAIR. Service guy tells me he had no idea I had copper and may not be able to complete my repairs in one visit. Oh by the way did I mention I schedule this on a Saturday and paid the extra $25 charge for a Saturday visit. They finish the repairs - because I begged. They were a two man team in which one guy did all the repairs the other guy just watched!! I did more to help than the second guy. Tech gives me no receipt just tells me total is $417 (doesn't include my $65 prepay on my CC)says "they will e-mail receipt". Takes me two calls and three working days to get first receipt and all is say is Labor and parts. So I call again and ask for a detailed receipt. Detailed receipt says "actual labor hours 2" however I get charged for 3 hours. It took a week and half to just get back to me about my bill. After I complain about bill being too much they say we will send you a refund for $90 that we overcharged for labor. I call back next day to confirm the $90 check coming (because of course they never called me back in previous day said they would) and know they say we talked to tech and he says he was there 3 hours???? I have thier detailed invoice stating only two hours. I ask to speak to owner and again I get "I don't think he wants to speak with you". Worst sprinkler company I have ever dealt with. I could keep going but I am done with them wasting my time. read more

Extremely overpriced for the services and part prices that they provide for service.To be fair, I was very happy with the installation of a complete irrigation system four years ago, and have used them for startup and shut down every year, maintenance, etc. This year is when i decided to find another company to handle the maintenance of my system. The last time they were out, they accidentally severed my cable/internet line coming into the house, and the serviceman got really defensive when I explained that I shouldn't have to pay my cable company to fix the line. Once I got my cable bill they adjusted the irrigation bill to take care of the charges(my wife said they were nice about it in the office). The thing that really made me upset was my panel for the system stopped working and he quoted me at $180 to replace the door (no labor required-just plug it in). I decided not to replace it at the time because it seemed really pricey for a door. I have later found it online for $42. I understand mark up, everybody has the right to make money but that is taking advantage. Its also not like I found the cheapest one to prove a point, they average $50 online. I'm done with Maddox. I am not the type of person to complain like this and it is a shame because I really liked them in the beginning, especially the member of the Maddox family that came out for the install.
