be careful! Madden's door and son was sold to GDI. You will not get the same service or price that you did when you dealt directly with Madden. For years, we Madden since the service was incredible as well as the price. Our garage door needed fixing and we called Madden and they sent out somebody from GDI. The price was exorbitant and way above what we would've paid at Madden or any of the competitors. So beware, get a quote before you have them do any work and compare it to the competitors. You'll be shocked by the difference. read more

Madden door replaced my garage door and new door opener. A couple of years ago I asked for a battery backup for my garage door opener. They were not available but when they became available, Madden door called me to ask if I want one installed. I was grateful for the personalized service. read more

You can see my 5 star review below from 10 years ago. I've been using these guys for many years. Always offered great service at a reasonable price. They came out yesterday and replaced my springs again. Same great service. Only difference was the price more than tripled since I last saw them in 2021. I guess it's not the same family business anymore. Lots of consolidation going on in this industry which leads to less competition. I definitely recommend shopping around with the understanding that several of these business' are all owned by the same group. read more

We used Madden to replace our old garage door and update it to something more modern. We worked with Scott who was extremely knowledgeable on what we were looking for. Aside from a mock-up, he also came out to measure and go over install details which was very helpful. The garage door took about 6 weeks and the team that installed was professional and worked quickly. We absolutely love the way it turned out and it's extremely quiet. The new motor also comes with an app and camera that's been helpful as it shows when you last opened/closed your garage. Helpful if you leave in a hurry and can't remember if you closed the garage. Thanks! read more

Had our garage door replaced in May 2018 & they did an excellent job. We knew going in that our motor was the original (circa 1989-1991 era) but since there was no immediate need to replace, we elected to leave it. Well, it began it's slow decline this year & today we just had the motor replaced by the 'one & only Kris'!!! Honestly, I had no idea how wonderful the new products were & so I know we should have had it replaced sooner. Kris is one of those high end, leave no detail out, pleasant, experienced & professional kind of people & something tells me that is how he is in every interaction he has. He was fantastic!!! He went through each & every facet of how the motor functions, all the particular features it has. He made sure I understood everything before he left. Who enjoys spending $$ but somehow, I didn't have a conniption & so today was a good day!!! read more

They did a very good job. I called to make an appointment. They answered the phone and scheduled an appointment in the next three days to accommodate my schedule. On the day of the appointment, someone called to cancel. They said their technician was tied up on another job. So they offered to come by the next day. The next day, the technician showed up and installed a new garage door opener. He showed me how to use it. Very nicely done. I'm taking one star off because they cancelled the original day. It's very inconvenient when you sacrifice one day to get something done, only to have a contractor cancel out on you. In any case, I would recommend them. read more

Madden installed the garage door of the house we moved into. When we first moved into the house, the garage door didn't work because the spring was broken and some bolts were falling out. We worked with another company to fix the spring because they were able to come out immediately. Months later, we are still having problems with bolts falling out, so figured we call Madden since they originally installed the door and hoped there was some sort of warranty. When we called they couldn't confirm when the door was installed because their "records only go back to the most recent two years". Idk what company disposes of all records after two years, but moving on. They then proceeded to cancel coming out to check on the door 3x. At this point we are moving on to another company. read more

Hired Scott/Madden about a year ago to install an aluminum, glass paned door on our two car garage in Berkeley. It's an absolute beauty, and the price was very reasonable. A year later, it still functions perfectly, with no hitches. The most noteworthy part of the experience, though, was Scott's help in designing a solution for our VERY low garage ceiling height. It previously had a barn door style garage, and was not configured to hold an overhead. Scott went into his laboratory and came up with a great solution, instead of passing on the job or stalling on a tricky project, which many contractors will do. Totally awesome working with this company. 5/5. read more

No Complaints, All Good! Of course my wooden garage door broke on a Saturday :( Madden Door responded to my voicemail 1st thing Monday morning. There was a bit of a wait, a couple of weeks, to get estimate, order door and get on the schedule. Communication was very good between myself, Kevin the president, Mary in office and Cris the installer---flawless, thanks. Door looks great, works great and the plus is they were able to use the existing garage door opener. This was my 3rd time using Madden over the years, always a positive experience. read more

We needed a new garage door for a couple years. During this stay at home time I decided to get started looking. I new I didn't want the basic type door. My garage takes up a large portion of the front of my house. I left a message and got a return call within an hour. I explained that I liked the carriage styles. He had me take a photo of front of my house and he was able to send my photos back with the three doors I chose. I loved them and he came out later that day and I ordered the one I liked best. 3 weeks later my door came in and was installed on Monday. It still needed to be painted so I called Javier who they say paints a lot of their doors. Javier gave me a price over the phone and came out that day (Monday). It's Thursday now and my door is painted the same color as my front door and I couldn't be happier. This overall experience was wonderful and worth every penny. I would recommend Madden Doors to everyone. Thanks all from Madden that helped me. read more

Made a same day appointment to service my garage door opener. I waited at home throughout the rest of the day. Never bothered to show up. No call to reschedule. Waste of time... at least it wasn't a waste of my money! read more

We love our new garage door. It's new technology is awesome as is the well insulated and seamless door. The service is excellent, kind and authentically real. The door was competitively priced, and I was not pressured in any way to buy a door in addition to fixing the motor. It was a good decision to buy the door, it's made a quality difference in our home. Thank you Madden Door and Sons, a pleasure to do business with you. The Evans read more

Quick, easy and painless! Called them early Monday and set an appointment for Tuesday to fix a problem garage door. They called a few hours later and said they had an opening! Fantastic. Guy came out and put in some longer lag bolts (one fell out) and greased the springs etc. Good as new. No more bad noises when opening/closing the garage door anymore. Awesome! read more

Thank you Chris for the thorough and professional job you did replacing our garage door opener that was 20 years old. We appreciate the excellent workmanship, fair price and bringing us into the 21st century! It is so quiet and has battery backup just in case. Yeah! read more

I called Madden Door and Sons because I believed the coils on my garage door were about to go bad. It was creaking and groaning. They quoted me a fair price and came out the next day, right-on-time. Technician Kris, after inspection, told me he didn't believe the coils needed to be replaced, that the hinges and cables needed servicing and he re-balanced the door. His honesty saved me $400 which I greatly appreciate. I highly recommend Madden Door and Sons. read more

Yesterday afternoon the spring on our garage door broke. Madden had installed our unit so I called them and explained that we were stranded in our home. I was told that the earliest they could come out would be next week. The "not our problem" vibe really came across. So I called one of their competitors and within a few hours our garage door was fixed. Needless to say I will never use Madden again! read more

We have used Madden at our home and our rental - always kind, courteous, timely and efficient. It has been noted that with a recent experience, they gave us an option when the old spring broke " do we want the spring on same other door replaced as well?" Which only makes sense, but they were considerate to save another visit charge that was inevitable. With our rental yesterday, we assumed a broken spring when it was simply a less costly wiring issue. Given that we were not there when the technician was, a pleasant call revealed a lower charge - their integrity in billing is appreciated! read more

Great service from Madden Door both times we needed them. First, courteous & quick customer service via phone; then when the gentleman came out to replace our old & non-working automatic garage door opener, he was polite, professional & quick. The cost was so reasonable we were thrilled. Six months later, a part from the old garage door itself broke. Another gentleman came - Cristobal - and he counseled us on our options & was so helpful. Again, so reasonably priced!!! When you don't know anything about the service you need, these are the kinds of people you want coming to your home to talk with you & repair/replace your items. I would highly recommend this company & we especially liked Cristobal as he was professional yet so very personable. Thank you, Madden Door! read more

Today Chris came over and fixed my garage door. He did such an excellent job and the noise the door would make when it opened and closed, is noise no longer. A neighborhood kid crashed his go-kart into my garage last week and ruined the lower panel and one rail. I had Madden install the new garage door w/ opener 4 years ago and the price/process/service/quality was outstanding. I called them again last week to fix this issue and the service and responsiveness was A+ again. Kevin came out to check the damage and gave me an estimate. Garage panel was ordered and Jeff was here to install it today. Jeff was personable, thorough and quick. Quality work and service again. I've had a great experience each time I've dealt with Madden - give them an opportunity to service your garage door needs, you wont be disappointed. Thanks Madden team! read more

Madden Door saved the day! Awoke this morning and the garage door spring had broken overnight. My garage door was stuck closed. Normally an inconvenience, but today we were packed to drive to LA. Called several garage door shops and everyone said no way on a Friday. Called Madden today and person answering the phone was so friendly and reassuring. Cristobal came to our house in two hours. Nicest guy ever. Totally reassuring. Had the job done within an hour, and no kidding, price was totally fair. We would have paid twice as much. Best service ever! read more

I contacted the company Monday morning, and a very pleasant lady answered the phone. She was able to answer my questions on getting a new garage door opener, as the one I had was quite old. She was able to get a technician out within 3 hrs. Rob was the technician who came out, and he was on time and fully masked due to Covid. He was extremely professional. It took him a little less than 90 mins to install the new garage door opener, as well as the exterior keyless entry pad, and make other minor adjustments as needed. When he was done, he went over in detail the deluxe custom keypad and the various menu options, he showed me where to find things on the garage door opener, and ensured both transmitters, and exterior keypad worked flawlessly. I was totally impressed by his work. Hopefully, I won't need another garage door opener anytime soon, but if I do, I know who to call, and I know if I'm ask, who I would recommend. read more

From Scott the owner/estimator. To Rob and Harry, the installers. Top notch experience. I would highly recommend!!!

My garage door stopped working this morning. When I called to ask how much it was for a service call the woman said she would try to walk me through fixing it and she did! I thought that was really nice and it made my day! Great customer service read more

Madden Door was a wonderful experience. Although it took some time to finalize the order and schedule the install, Scott's attention to detail was obvious. It was Scott's design services and knowledge of options that won me over another high-rated business. He was quick to explain why he did (or did not) recommend options. We have a great result. Garage doors are not replaced often and I'm happy to say that Madden Door took good care of us. read more

The entire process was seamless. Called, made an appointment for an on site consult. Appointment made, owner arrived on time Quote arrived when they said it would. Installer arrived when they said he would. The installation got done in the time they said it would. The installation looks as good as they said it would. The door and opener operate as they said it would. Really, just couldn't ask for anything more - perfect, painless transaction. Ya feel me? read more

Horrible customer service experience. So much for trying to do business with a local, family company. They hung up on me because apparently Friday afternoon "isn't a good time to deal with my stuff." Our garage door was sticking and we had a tech come out twice before he realized we needed a whole new motor (which was installed on the third visit.) We were charged $145 for the unsuccessful attempt to reconnect the faulty motor just because "the tech came out" and whether the fix worked or not "was not Madden's problem." I did not realize I would be paying for their time regardless of the result. Buyer beware. read more

Garage door stuck open - I have successfully adjusted the alignment in the past but not this time. Called Madden this morning, Chris came by before lunch and corrected the alignment and showed me how to do it in the future, he tuned up the door with oil and some other small adjustments. He also checked the motor. It all took less than an hour. Chris was very professional and delightful to visit with while he worked. I'm very happy with Madden Door. read more

When Madden's Scott O'Neill suggested I get a better, more expensive door for my garage than the one I requested a quotation on, I thought, here we go, the guy can't help up-selling me - who needs it? I heard him out, though, and I'm glad I did. Scott reasonably explained that while a cheap door would close my garage, a better door would last longer and look better. After hearing stories of door woes from inlaws with cheap-as-dirt steel doors, I'm glad I listed to Scott and got a double-wall, insulated door. It feels substantial and wasn't a lot more money. The crew installed it incredibly quickly, were professional to deal with, and did a nice job. I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Madden Door again. read more

So this week the spring that opens our garage door broke. Totally freaked my son out.. My husband ran to Madden doors to get a replacement. Scott was very helpful and suggested where to get the part since my husband put it in himself. He also said he normally doesnt suggest people do this themselves as it is dangerous but since hubby had already done it, he was capable. He totally could have sold us on a repair job for like 400 bucks but was honest and we appreciate that.. Thanks Scott, and when it is time for a replacement we will come to u!! read more

Our spring broke and we had called Madden on the Sunday over the Christmas weekend and found that they were closed until Tuesday morning. I left a message with them. I got a call from them on Tuesday first thing, however I had already scheduled an appointment with a competitor. The competitor showed up, and very quickly began upselling - stating that brackets, rollers, torsion tubes - the whole system would need to be replaced at a cost of just over $2000. Keep in mind that we have not had any indication that there was a problem with the door or mechanism- no loud noises, pops or creaks. We declined the first company, paid for service call ($49) and called Madden to come out. Rob called before arriving, showed up on time, inspected the problem and replaced the broken spring and second spring in around 30 minutes. He inspected and lubed the mechanisms for a grand total of just over $600. Big Difference in companies. I feel like some companies know they have you over a barrel because you have to be able to get your car in or out or your garage and that Madden/Rob completed the service for a fair price. We will continue to use Madden going forward from here! read more

We called Madden because we thought there was something wrong with the garage door when we opened it because there was a loud clanking noise. Madden came out and immediate said everything looked fine, nothing wrong but since we came out you have to pay the entire $175 for their time. I'm happy to pay for a service call but if I were the owner of Madden I may have said since there is nothing wrong and I spent all of 5 minutes I'll charge you $100. Spraying some silicone spray around the door because you wanted to do "something" really wasn't service. Disappointed for a family owned business. read more

I didn't realize how exciting garage doors could be until completing our project with Scott @ Madden Doors. Our needs were a bit complicated given the sun exposure and proximity to a golf course (errant golf balls) and he worked with us extensively to determine the right materials for our doors to guarantee a long life! The doors were installed today by Madden's employees and they did a wonderful and clean job followed by a thorough walkthrough on how to use and care for wood doors. We couldn't be happier with Madden and highly recommend them for their customer service and for the quality of product. I quickly learned that not all wood doors are the same and that material selection, construction and installation methods can vary widely having a huge impact on things and appreciate the expertise that a business like Madden means towards ensuring their customers are thrilled and can enjoy their investment. read more

I bought a new home in July 2009 and the old garage door had to be replaced. I contacted Madden Door and their sales rep, Scott, came out and offered me several constructive and worthwhile ideas. Through every step of the process -- consulting, ordering, installing and follow-up fine tuning -- Madden Door was extremely professional, ethical and customer-service oriented.
