A guy named Ilan from Aladdin Doors & Gates arrived. I guess American Gates & Doors just works with other companies to get the job done. After looking at it, Ilan told me we needed a new garage door installed because the broken one was beyond repair. I told him the quote we had gotten from another company, and he gave me a quote that was a bit lower. Ilan told me that the earliest time for installation was 9am the next morning, but then he changed it to 4-6pm the next evening after talking to some people on the phone. The next day, I got a call from Ilan to change that time to 6:30-7pm, then another call from the installer Oscar from United Garage & Gates to change it to 8pm, then the job wasn't started until 8:30pm. In the end, even though the garage door was installed just fine, the lack of organization and commitment to time bothered me tremendously, and I'm not sure that it was worth a slightly lower price.

After years of bracing metal fatigued panels we decided it's finally time to replace it. Since I have been using CC Door as my hinge and roller parts supplier it seemed logical to have them do the replacement. I considered installing it again myself, but decided to have the experts to do it. I am so happy with that decision! Avo visited multiple times and took meticulous measurements and lots of notes to verify the install plan. Techs Jeff and Chris removed the old door, saved me the bracing I had put on, and installed the new door and motor, which was exactly what we ordered. I'm fairly confident in my DIY capabilities, but I'm amazed at the meticulous and professional work of the CC Door techs! For example: they trimmed the corners of bracing at the rafters and used a level to run the wires for the door switch! I've never seen such attention to detail. And there is no way I could have ever made the final adjustments to the door to get it to operate perfectly, and sit perfectly on a sloped garage floor. They swapped springs and cut cables until it rolled exactly as it should. This perfection is learned from experience and training by techs who really care about doing the best job they can for a customer. No YouTube videos can teach that! I am much more than just satisfied! I can't believe how much quieter and smoother the door now works, and I'm confident this door will last a generation like the old one did. This is one of those projects that when it's completed you say "I am so thankful I hired a professional!!" We opted for the side LiftMaster motor and non-insulated panels (which I don't think are needed in the Bay Area). It was a little over $5k, but I would do it again in a heartbeat, it's totally worth it.
