I needed to replace my garage door remotes and contacted several companies to get estimates. One of the companies (Bay Area Doors) specifically (Willie) called me and recommended purchasing and replacing the remotes myself as it was considerably cheaper. Bay Area was dispatched by our home warranty company. The tech that came out was in a bad mood when he arrived. He informed me that the door being misaligned is not covered by the home warranty. He informed me that only the spring and the opener are covered. I was surprised it wasn't covered but we still needed it fixed so I asked him if he could fix it today and what it would cost. He quoted me $165 as long as nothing else needed to be fixed along the way. He next told me my rollers looked shot and they haven't been maintained well and I should be spraying them 4 times a year to keep them in good shape. As he kept looking at the door I could see he kept looking for more things he could replace. I told him I changed my mind and I didn't want him to do the repair. As he was leaving he mumbled something when he turned his back to me and I said great attitude and he left. Called another company right after he left and they came out the next day. They new right away how to fix the problem and they even greased the door rollers of the door and my 2nd garage door to minimize the noise and squeaking. They said the rollers looked fine they just needed some lube. He was done in a few minutes and charged $98. read more
