Outstanding. First things, first........................the staff is great. Saw some old reviews crabbing about the staff, don't know what planet the reviewers were on. Every staff member was great. Course was in really good shape. From Florida and golfed all over the country, this is a great course for $50. Yes, there are a couple funky holes, but funky brings a challenge. The greens ran true. Nicely maintained. Some greens are elevated, so if you miss........you'll add a couple strokes. Great views. Water shots. Target golf at times. We will return. read more

I've been playing golf for years and have always stop here at the Mad Russian golf course for there driving range and putt putt and other things. I've witnessed the change of management and seen the struggle with the changes that have to come. They changed the driving range to turf which sucks to hit off no real experience. The prices have been jacked up a lot. A couple weeks ago I went to a couple different courses with cheap driving range prices and respectable prices for a quick 9 hole with a cart. But when you and your whole family pays around $50 for 9 is a little insane. The years I've played here and realized how expensive it's got. I might as well go play Bella ridge right down the road and they don't even have a driving range. Then when I'm playing the ranger is telling me and my family we were way behind but yet I don't think I've played golf on a rushed playing field. I shot around a 40 and a couple family members near that mark too. We also had an interaction with the owner of the course, he seemed friendly but also a little rude and off playing with people a lot older and probably had a few too many. When you try to persuade people with new carts with screen. You should probably focus on fixing your tee box's and the bunkers being harder than any bucket I've played in almost as bad as Bella Rosa and yet that might be better than mad Russian as a whole. I don't think I'll be coming back soon unless they lower the prices to something reasonable. read more

Unfortunately this place went so down hill since last season, $40 cart fee and the pro shop people just are not as good.

I created a tee time for my family for 9 holes, but their website system gave us 18 holes. Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to play 18 holes, but I was honest and said I only paid for 9 holes. Towards the end we figured we'd like to play some more holes, and considering their website adjusted us to play 18, we decided to play more. Long story short, I got chewed out by the course manager who claimed his pro shop employees are honest and know who has 9 vs. 18 holes. While I don't doubt the honesty of his employees, their website system and online interface messed up big time, which created a sloppy mess for my family and I. I grew up playing golf at the Mad Russian, it's a beautiful and nostalgic course. However I was saddened by the lack of professionalism by the course manager and his online tee time system. I hope when I return home to play, they will have a better system. Otherwise it's off to Bella Ridge. read more

Our group was not notified prior to planning our tee time that only two carts were allowed per time. We had 5 people, and specified while renting that 3 carts were needed. When we arrived, we were told that only 2 were available and that our 5th could not walk the course for another two hours. Not only was a refund not offered, the check in crew AND ranger were extremely rude when explaining the situation. Notification of only two carts per group, no matter the amount of people, should be given at time of rental not after we drive over an hour to the course. Our 5th golfer was so disgusted after getting cornered and berated by the ranger that he left entirely. After deciding to start our round, we as a group were followed by the ranger for 6 holes and reminded to "close the gap", even though we spent an hour of our time waiting for golfers to proceed forward after choosing to heed and speed up. Extremely disrespectful treatment, will never be going again or traveling to visit this course. Do better. read more

I have never had such poor experience that made me want to write a review but the service from the woman at the front desk was so disrespectful and rude that we ended up canceling our tee time and leaving. I will probably never be back to the course unless management makes a change at the front desk and takes better care of their guests. Plenty of other better courses in the area. Unfortunate because this used to be a great course. Reading other reviews it doesn't appear this is an isolated incident so be careful before booking. read more

Called on Tuesday to make a reservation for 4 people and asked 2 times about having a player ride along with us and was told YES MULTIPLE TIMES!! When we showed up on Sunday morning 6/11 we were told no riders would be allowed and the ladies in the pro shop treated us like shit. Worst golf experience that I have ever had, the old ranger was very annoying, would not waste your money here

We booked this tee time weeks in advance, called to make sure we could have 4 golfers and a one rider. They said that would be no problem. Once we drove an hour to the golf course this morning we were told only two carts per tee time. So our 4th golfer offered to walk it and they said no walking allowed before 1. We only had an hour until 1pm. We were trying to come up with solutions so everyone who drove out of their way could have a great day, but the people are pro shop did not care. They wouldn't even offer us a refund. Also The ranger at hole one corner our friend when he was just simply trying to ask how we could all make this work because he was willing to walk ALL 18 HOLES. Unfortunately he went home because he was so frustrated nobody had the human decency to let us have a good day. This course has beautiful views but the staff made it a very ugly experience and we will never be back. read more

This is such a corky golf course! We had such a great day here. All employees were very nice and helpful, the greens and fairways were spectacular. You need to play some smart golf for this course to work with you. Will definitely be back! read more

It's a short track. Most golfers won't need more than 4-5 clubs during a round, but it's still a lot of fun. Greens can be a little tricky to read. That just adds to the challenge, though, and makes up for the lack of length. One of the things I loved the most about the rounds I played here was the view. Piping a drive and then seeing the Rocky Mountains in the distance was pure bliss. Can't wait to come back and knock it around again. read more

Extremely disappointed in this golf course. My husband tried to schedule a tee time for 8 guys the day before one of their weddings because friends are flying in from out of town so they wanted to catch up over a game of golf and they turned my husband down simply because they assumed they would be drinking and getting out of hand. Such a poor assumption. We will reconsider bringing our business here in the future and definitely will not recommend this course to anyone. read more

My golf partner and I played here and had a terrible experience. At the 11th the marshal came down and told us to bring the carts in. We teed off and began to bring the carts in. Much to our surprise the marshal came back to us and began swearing at us for teeing off on the final hole. He called me and my golf partner a "effing Mexican" and asked us if we were stupid. I was shocked at the racist comment seeing as everybody in my group was Caucasian. Horrible experience and nobody should be treated with a racist comment. Stay away. Don't get me started about the quality of the course, sub par to say the least. Heidi, I understand trying out a positive spin on a negative review. But flat out lying is very unpleasing. First, we never had the golf cart in an area that was undesired. My golf partner and I grew up playing golf and have a great deal of appreciation for all of the hard work the grounds crew puts into a course. If there was a discrepancy and maybe the marshal made a visual mistake with where we were on the course and thought we were off track, I am fine with that. Mistakes happen. But accusing us of drinking, and bringing our own alcohol on the course is a blatant lie and a sorry way for you to defend your course. As far as my golf partner saying "can't you read English" is also a sorry and completely false way for you to cover up what happened on your grounds. I agree with you, you did have a problem with a course marshal one year ago. However, the approach you have chosen to try and spin a fabricated story off on myself and playing partner is a testimony to the management style of this golf course. I do not wish to come back and play your course when we have so many great Northern Colorado courses within a 20 minute drive to enjoy. read more

Conditions were marginal. Customer service was absolutely horrible. And price was super expensive for a dog track like this. We will absolutely never be back. $102 for 11 holes and a 6pack. Ridiculous!!!! Ranger was a complete dick. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

Between the boggy ruff, the horrible amounts of horse flies biting at you and the fact that you're on top of another fairway, green or tee box, this place is deplorable! The ONLY thing it has going for it is that it's cheap! The driving range practically hits onto the fairway/tee box of a hole. read more

I've played The Mad Russian for many years and it's one of my favorite courses in Colorado. Average fees are nearly half of golf courses like Colorado National and the atmosphere is less stuffy. The yardage isn't as long as other courses (just under 6,000 yards) but offers a challenge with its rolling terrain and greens. New management has also done a great job with course condition. read more
