The good- enjoyed the layout (the front 9 I got to play) and although the course just opened last fall, it is coming along nicely.
The bad - had to quit after 9 holes due to pace of play. The front nine took 3 hours, and I had to be at an appointment and couldn't do a 6 hour round of golf. The ranger was useless- more of a friendly greeter than a ranger. The group in front of us was a hole behind after 3 holes, and by the 8th hole, they were over two holes behind. We told the ranger about it on #4, and she didn't even realize it. (Guess she was too busy greeting people) She said she would talk to them, but either didn't, or they didn't listen. On #7, the single playing with us got frustrated and called in to the pro shop asking for them to send the ranger again, as they were now two holes behind. She never came, and after 9 holes I asked for a refund for my wife and I for the unplayed 9. I hear Troon Golf is managing this course- would love to talk to somebody at Troon or even the owners about the horrendous experience I had after driving an hour and a half to play the course. It's a promising new track, but golfers aren't going to put up with 6 hour rounds. I've played over 60 rounds of golf YTD this year, and the was by far the worst pace of place all year. Even the cart boy said as we were packing up in frustration- "yeah, all our rangers are older and really don't do anything to speed pace of play" - his exact words. Hoping Troon and the owners read these reviews and get the issue fixed. There is simply NO excuse for a 6 hour round of golf read more
