Overall, it just feel like everything was just lacking flavor. Maybe it was an off day for them, but it's not very high on my list to try again soon. Ordered: - Brisket - The absolute driest and leanest pieces of briskets I've ever had (see photos). I prefer moist brisket, so I was extra disappointed. Unfortunately, for me this was the worst I've ever had. - Saigon Spares - Probably the best of the 3 proteins we tried, honestly I didn't taste the fish sauce glaze. I want more fish sauce flavor. - Pork Ribs - Juicy but just lacked flavor. - Wok Fired Bok Choy - Alright. I preferred this one slightly more when it comes to sides, just because it gave a nice texture change when it comes to the food. - Miso Mac & Cheese - I didn't really taste the miso. We went on a Saturday morning, got there around 10:30 and there were about 1-2 parties in front of us. There wasn't really an official line, people just sat at the patio area until they opened. They opened closer to 11:15 ish the day we went. They have a preorder option online. The menu was exactly the same preorder/in store. They also let you add stuff to your order once you get to the counter if you wanted. When they first opened, they take preorders first. We didn't do preorder, because we were wanting to see if it was possible to order 1/4 lb for certain protein options, it wasn't.

A passion project located inside of the Elev8 apartment complex off Smith St: needless to say, a…read morevery unique experience. Chef Bham (previously from Alinea, amongst a few other baller restaurants) is a literal genius. The menu was a really thoughtful ode to various Filipino dishes with a little twist on each. You get the comforting tapsilog and taho that you might have grown up with alongside interesting flavors and ideas. Pandesal made into a tart crust, kinilaw made with daikon and beef...they also are very good at keeping in mind dietary restrictions: I was the annoying halal option, but, man did my experience rock. Pork belly replaced with enoki mushrooms or octopus, and the dish was still amazing. My sister was unfortunately gluten free, but still able to enjoy every bite. Because of the location, you get the experience of sitting with the chef and his team and that alongside them in almost in the kitchen. It's very cozy and different, and you learn a lot about each dish because of it (and his amazing team). I love Musaafer, but this may have become my new favorite high end place.

They allow byob and there's also a wine tasting as well. The 5 courses menu was thoughtfully crafted, with each dish rooted in heritage and memory. Highlights included the fried octopus with eggplant, it was a bit hard to hear what exactly the sauce he made was--but it was amazing. Also the fried rice with Wagyu, quail egg and topped with caviar was fantastic. Great texture and presentation. Service was impeccable. Chef Bham and the staff were deeply knowledgeable and genuinely passionate. Every glass was topped off before we even noticed. You could tell they weren't just serving food but also they were part of the storytelling. This experience deserves every bit of praise. If you're looking for something beyond the usual dining. Truly unforgettable. I'll be talking about this night for a long time.

Cochinita & Co caught my attention because of owner and chef Victoria Elizondo who was a James Beard semifinalist, Culture Map chef of the year and her restaurant was ranked as one of the top 100 in Houston. The restaurant is located near EaDo and is easy to find. It's in a small strip of businesses so parking can be tight when it's busy. We came with about 30 minutes left for breakfast before they rolled out their lunch menu. There was a few tables of people enjoying their breakfast, but the place got really busy about an hour into lunch. Customer service was great. I needed help making some ordering decisions and the staff steered me in the right direction. I specifically came for breakfast. I started off with an iced Horchata Latte. This drink was excellent. You got all the flavors of a traditional horchata with the cinnamon while still having the coffee flavor present. It was a very well balanced drink. For my entree I went with their popular chilaquiles. They said this is their number one seller for breakfast and I could totally see why. I went with the red chile salsa for the spicy version, but you can also get it with a salsa verde. It comes with black beans, fried egg (you can request a different cook if you desire), crema, queso fresco and green onions. You can add a protein for an additional charge. I added chorizo to mine. Chilaquiles is not something I ever order but I had to try it here. I am so glad I went out of my comfort zone because this dish was amazing. Now I've had bites here and there of chilaquiles but was never blown away, hence me not ordering it. The chips were coated throughout and kept it's crunch through the whole meal. All the components of the dish worked in perfect harmony. I liked mine with the chorizo addition. The egg was nice and runny and I would consider adding another egg next time. It was a generous portion and a heavy meal, but I powered through the whole thing because it was so good. They had a nice display of baked goods and I could not pass up the pretty cinnamon roll. I got the last one and it looked very promising. It ended up being just ok. They served it room temp so it ate very dry. It would have been good if it was heated up and gooey. We ended up wasting most of it. Overall, this visit was long overdue but worth the wait. I'm still thinking about the chilaquiles a week later. I will most definitely be back to check out more of their menu.

When I look for crawfish, I'm looking for spicy , flavorful, juicy , and most importantly? That they have big suckable heads. BOY WAS I IN FOR A TREAT FINDING HOT AND BUTTERED!!! It's located at this nice casual little bar called tikilas or some shit like that. Instantly I knew I was in for a treat because they were playing "get low" by lil Jon. And boy was I about to get LOW ! I walked up to order , and to my most utter surprise: there it was , a five pounder deal. They give you a little light up vibrator thing to take back to the table , so that you know when your food is ready to be devoured. Talk about hot and ready! Those crawdads were done in literally like 15 minutes MAX! I immediately started ripping off those slutty little crawfish shells and sucking like there was NO tomorrow! I felt EXPLOSIONS of flavor through my body. I definitely climaxed at least three to four times while I was indulging. These are hands down the best crawfish in Houston or maybe even the entire universe. Definitely would smash .

Historically significant. Excellent food as you can see from the reviews…read more So I'll just post photos. My default ? Lemon cod, tabouli, coconut pie. The fried chicken is not good enough to recommend. As you will see, George M., the manager did respond to my comment. And I thank him for his response. (Though I was amused by how he phrased his response). Keep in mind. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Cleburne. I grew up in a Houston with Picadilly, Weldon's, Brittain's, Luby's, Wyatt's and more. Cafeterias in the 50's and 60's were an important way for families to dine out economically, and go to for the Sunday after church dinner. I visit Cleburne as often as possible, and my wife and I still reminisce about the matriarch at the register who could calculate everyone's bill in her head as they showed up to pay. Such wonderful memories. But as a person who has done fried chicken for decades, creating The Fried Chicken Blog (www.thefriedchickenblog.com) to document the fried chicken picnics in the German Czech communities of central Texas, and having fun with many different fried chicken recipes, I read his response about his chicken being one of the "best in the country," with amusement; so I will leave it up to you. Look at the photo of the dry, fried chicken on JUne 15, 2026, and then compare it to the photo I have just added for what I think fried chicken would look like at the best places (One example would be Barbecue Inn on Crosstimbers). There are some tricks to fried chicken. That is, once you decide on which traditional method you choose to go with. Example of one such: The batter of course, where you add a little moisture into the flour before the dipping and frying so that pieces of the wetted flour clump and will be picked up. Getting back to the Cleburne recipe. My guess is that this is one of the classic Southern, dredge in flour and pan fry, but not a buttermilk soak, dip, dredge, redip, dredge, fry method. This one is more akin to the classic skillet fry method and a simpler flour coating (I'm guessing). Which can be really good. But for me, I'd say, pass on the fried chicken and go for one of their other entrees.
