This place could almost be considered two businesses since they have a store in the back, selling all sorts of salsas, guacamoles, bean dips, tortillas, pre-cooked meats and many others. In fact, I've been buying their products for a couple years now at the Brampton Farmer's Market and Longos. If this review were for the products alone, I'd maybe lean to a '5'. The spicy bean dip in particular is my favourite. My dine in visit the other day was my first time I made it to this location. From looking at the menu, they're a bit pricier than some other comparable places. With that said, this place also has a bit more ambience than other places too. I went with 'La Revolución' burrito. A meat lovers dream as its filled with beef brisket and chorizo - along with refried beans, avocado and cheese. It came with a small side salad and was nearly $20. The meat quality however really went a long way in justifying the price. The beef was delicious, as was the chorizo. It was also the deep-red savoury chorizo which is my favourite. Just note that it does add a bit of grease to it. I like how the burrito also seemed to be pan-fried as well, giving great texture and more savoury taste. My friend with with a couple chicken tinga tacos as was really happy with the meat quality and prep too. A local staple for the past several years, the service and room are very good. Unfortunately $25 for tacos is very overpriced, especially considering how tasteless the carnitas were. For $8 per taco you expect more than a shell, cilantro and some very dry and tasteless pulled pork. On the other hand, the nachos we ordered were great. My suggestion to management is to keep the finger foods reasonably priced and authentic to keep locals coming back. read more

The food here is just too inconsistent. I've been many times and it tastes great one day and crap the next. But my biggest complaint is the lighting. It's soooo bright in there - no ambiance whatsoever. Who wants passerbys staring in at you when you eat? Lower the lights and add some dividers/big plants or something. It's just too exposed for my liking. Doesn't scream drop in for a drink either. I think more neighbourhood folk would go more often if it just felt more inviting in that regard, especially since there are so few pubs in the area. Have a drink and nacho special once a week and I bet you get more clientele. Re ambiance, same goes for the outdoor seating. Needs some plants to separate it from the sidewalk. (-1 star for price) Food (3.5 stars): We ordered: Chicken Tinga (3 stars) - My girlfriend loved it. I thought it was missing some crunchiness. It was very flavorful, but not your typical taco. It was almost dripping out. Ensenada Style (4 stars) - We chose the white fish. It was delicious, but a bit smaller than expected. It had a great balance of flavors and texture: cold and warm, crunchy and soft, spicy and mild. For desert we decided to get Churros (4 stars). There were options for having them stuffed, or having the dipping sauce on the side, we chose sauce on the side. These were tasty and very fluffy. My go to place for amazon nachos. We always get the nachos from here and drinks. We tried another dish recently as well, can't recall the name but it was a stuffed bell pepper on a bed of rice with roasted veggies on the side and black beans. It was delicious. The customer service is always friendly, sometimes there is a long wait time so I recommend reservations. Had a multiple dishes to share during late lunch. There was only one server and the restaurant was half full, so service was very slow. We watched our food on the counter getting cold while the only server taking payment at the cash register and attend other tables. The melted cheese dish (Queso Fundido) came already hardened when it arrived on our table. They gladly took it back and reheated though. But overall food quality was so so. We had sirloin steak on all 3 dishes. The one in Taco was very chewy. The one came in La Revolution was good. I will probably try a different mexican restaurant next time. read more

This place was easy to get to and the market was fully stocked. I ended up grabbing three tacos to go; carnitas, pollo pibil and the fish. Hands down fish taco was the best. Awesome crunch, the slaw was very tasty and overall just an awesome taco. Second was carnitas, I'd say my least favourite of the three only because it was a little dry. I added tomatillo sauce but I think I would have faired better with a spicy sauce. Still tasty and all three tacos had LARGE portion of meat. Last was pollo pibil which was moist and quite flavourful. Solid second place taco All were served on their blue corn tortilla which was nice and chewy but not dense. All around solid place. I've had the luxury of eating tacos from the finest restaurants, food trucks and family restaurants in California so when it comes to Mexican food, I've got a bit of a chip on my shoulder. I came to Mad Mexican with a bunch of co-workers for lunch and although we were a table of around 12 people, the staff seemed unprepared for a table that large. Our food took forever to come out and even taking orders was an ordeal. I got the 2 taco combo and ordered a shrimp and fish taco, and what I got was a chicken and fish taco. Too hungry to bother to complain, I scarfed down my lunch and proceesed to listen to my stomach grumble the rest of the time. For $13-15 I got 2 tacos which were so small and full of more lettuce than meat, they would barely make an infant full. Also you can get about the same amount of food in LA for about $3... Needless to say the food was pricey not very good and the staff took forever to sort out our orders and bills. I won't be coming back that's for sure. The Bulldog is a Margarita with a cute little Corona bottle tipped upside down. I highly recommend it. We ordered an appetizer of guacamole and chips! It was really good and a perfect amount. For dinner we went with the fish, shrimp, and steak tacos. Food came about 10min after our drinks and appetizers. The food was sooooo good. I tried Mad Mexican's tacos when I was at the Yoga and wellness show. They were selling their famous nachos and tacos. I was really hungry and in need of something gluten and dairy free, so I ordered one of each of their tacos. I tried the mushroom tacos (these were the messiest of the three), the carnitas (pork tacos) and the chicken tacos. I had them add guacamole to mine for an additional $2.00 since everyone told me they are known for their famous guacamole. The guacamole was super fresh and it went perfectly with each taco. The chicken tacos were my absolute favourite and the other two were right behind. I would definitely recommend these tacos and would definitely stop by their Jane and Bloor location if I was in the area. read more

We have no complaints about the service, our waitress was very attentive and friendly. However the food was just average, we were not impressed. We had the enchiladas as an app, it was a bit too salty and the cilantro was overbearing. For mains, I had the torta. I really wanted to love this place since it's in my neighbourhood but after a dine-in experience a few months ago and a take out experience yesterday, I have to say I do not want to eat here again. The service was great both times however the food is below average and extremely overpriced! This place is more expensive than some of the best Mexican places in ALL of Toronto. How do you have the audacity to overcharge so much for sub par food? Especially for food that only has half the ingredients you promise. The pork in the tacos was very dry, especially at $6.30 for ONE taco! This place is definitely taking advantage of the fact that they are the only Mexican restaurant in the area. Nacho platter was also a huge disappointment at $18! It was mostly just over salted nachos with tiny bits of tomato and garnish. No avocado or beans--not a single piece. Sea bass fillet at $26 was so overcooked that I couldn't chew past the skin. I will definitely not be recommending this place and look elsewhere if you want decent Mexican food. read more

They don't prioritize their skip the dishes orders over their sitting paying customers, they can't manage their orders in general - they randomly choose what gets made when. I also find the lack of compassion for customer retention pretty sad, but I guess when you cater to a bunch of over polite Canadians who say thank you after a horrible meal, you don't really need to change ! Had a really nice experience at Mad Mexican. We came for some appetizers and beer. The service was great and really easy going. We order the chips and salsa. We didn't indicate any preference for the salsa and we loved the three that were chosen for us. Then we ordered the chicken flautas ..... YUMMY! finally we ordered Churros and those were a nice ending to the evening. I would love to come back and try a dinner and be better able to review the food. This review is simply for their Mad Mexican guacamole that they sell through Loblaws grocery stores. I give it 4.5 stars. It's very fresh, very tasty, and has more than a hint of lime juice (which also helps keep it from turning brown too quickly after being opened.) The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because it's pricier than all the other guacamoles at the grocery store. Having said that, it's the best I've had. read more

I moved recently to this neighbourhood and wandered down the street to what is now my new favourite restaurant in a long time! The food was AUTHENTIC and flavourful - ambiance and 'feel' of the restaurant was amazing! EVERY SINGLE STAFF MEMBER that we encountered (host/bartender/four servers) were joyous and fun. They had great suggestions this being our first time! from mild for the soft palate and el caliente for the more seasoned Mexican food fan - everything was delicious and we even used our finger to clean up the guacamole bowl!! Very reasonable prices. The music level was perfect. It was a real team effort - dirty dishes did not stay on our table for long - no hard sells - no rushing us in and out. I cannot say enough great things about this place!! Please support this venue and support the great people and the food they obviously lovingly create!! Went here the other day because my uncle lives nearby. They were able to accommodate our group of 10, but this was probably the only positive. We ordered and the first thing to come out was the street corn, which was poor. None of us were able to finish as this corn definitely did not taste how it should, no hint of lime and the cheese was tasteless. Our tacos came, and they were just not great. They lacked the real flavor Mexican food is known for, it tasted somewhat white washed. The other food we got was also rather tasteless. They should be more authentic and keep to their roots, I thought it was too modified and subsequently not great. Probably will not go again read more

This restaurant is putting in the effort and it shows. Nice space. Big and open. Unfussy and a bit rustic but very clean. I love the mural on the north wall. Our server Celia was very nice and very knowledgeable. She really took her time with the specials and telling us what she recommended from the menu. I had the chille relleno poblano. It was so good. Firstly, it was absolutely bursting with cheese and smothered in a gorgeous thick tomato sauce. What really surprised me were all the fresh vegetables with it. Perfectly cooked. Not mushy. Amazing. Mixed feeling but overall it was good. Appetizers were tasty and quick, we ordered the Sweet Corn and Jalapeno Bars. Moving onto the main course, I was highly disappointed with my tacos: Carnitas (pork) , Ensenada (fish) and Yucatecan (chicken). The chicken and pork were all overcook, all the protein wasn't seasoned at all and the portions were pretty small. It also took a very long time for the tacos to be made, around 20 minutes. Lastly for dessert I ordered the Flan Napolitano and it was very tasty. It was a pretty small portion for $5, but it was delicious. Would like to give Mad Mexican 5 stars as the food was tasty but unfortunately the service was very poor. We arrived at 6:45 and I don't think our food was delivered to the table until 8 pm. It was a Monday night and the place was less than a third full so delay wasn't due to business. Luckily when the food arrived it was tasty so made up in part for the wait. We tried a variety of tacos and all were good. The portions aren't big so for dinner it is advisable to order at least 3 if not 4 tacos. Dessert did arrive quickly and the churros were hot. Visited this restaurant last month to try it out before I ordered from here from their catering menu. The waiter was pleasant but not very knowledgeable. Didn't tell us the special of the day. We had to hear it from the table next to us. We started with chips and Guacamole. The chips landed on our table containing all the bits, small broken pieces. Firstly, why would the kitchen send this out and secondly, as a server you should of noticed it as well. The street corn was tasteless. They should grill the corn before serving it. A friend of mine luvs the tortilla chips made by Mad Mexican so while we were visiting one of our go to spots for desserts nearby we decided to drop in. The area is roomy and has an open feel and one can even peer into the massive chip production area in the back. A nice bar on the side and I can imagine it getting busy as there is a dearth of Mexican food in Toronto and TO's folks just flock to this cuisine wherever they find it. We ordered a trio of tacos to share and ordered the chicken version. Sadly it was too early to have a drink or two so skipped that part. The service was prompt as the place wasn't busy. The condiments were brought in first and the appropriate harbenero sauce being very hot warning :) The tacos them self were decent. Good corn tortillas, the chicken a bit on the dry side but well seasoned. A decent taco though I am not a connoisseur. Reasonably priced so I don't see a reason why one wouldn't visit if in the area or craving this type of food. I will probably be back for a drink and some other food offerings. read more

This used to be our "Special Place". Expensive, but the food was outstanding so we kept it for celebrations. Tried it last night and I think they've changed kitchens. The packaging was totally different. Gone were the incredible homemade chips replaced by store-bought bland chips. Everything we ordered was a disappointment - bland, greasy. The Burrito was not great and came with 6 baby spinach leaves, 3 slivers of red pepper and a bland watery dressing. It was a $160 bill and Taco Bell would have been better.
