Scotch egg

We are here the 1st night at our hotel which was across the street. This is one of MANY pubs that seems to be owned by a single company (I could be wrong but it is same website and menu). It was okay. If you go, the triple pies with tasting was a phenomenal deal but after eating the scotch egg and drinking a pint already was too much. If I had it to do over again, I would just get that. This is not a must do nor would I go back but it was solid meal.

Came here with friends after the New Years Eve firework display at the London Eye. Since we were pretty well pissed already I can't tell you how far the walk from the Eye actually is. I can say that along the route people tried to steal our party hats, I got 2 swigs of whiskey from some random guy that wanted to try on my hat, and I didn't trip on my 5 inch heels. Not bad for a drunk tourist if i do say so myself! Now I got pretty excited when I noticed The Mad Hatter (Alice in Wonderland holds a special place in this drunk's heart!). We decided to venture in since it was open & we were getting pretty parched in the drinking department. I don't remember all that much, didn't even know it was a hotel until the next morning when Najah Y. looked at a receipt and it has the words "hotel" written on the front. All I do know is I had a fun-tastic fucking good time. Drinks weren't that bad, 24 pounds for 7 shots of vodka. The shot sizes are a little smaller than what we find in America, but not a big deal over all. Details are definitely on the fuzzier side of things, but hey, good times are good times! Cute atmosphere, cute name, & fun times. Will be back next trip to LDN town, might even stay in the hotel if the price is right.

Extra small tv.

Noisy 20 year olds, barking dogs and slamming doors. If I weren't suffering from a severe upper respiratory virus i would move to another hotel (after slowly strangling the incessantly barking chihuahua with a piano string soaked in salt water). Someone shoot me! Two hours ago tried to get soup delivered from room service but alas, I am here in bed eating stale shortbread biscuits

We popped into the Mad Hatter (pub) for an impromptu pub lunch and had a thoroughly good time. The selection of ales/beers was good and the price of drinks were reasonable (for central London). There is an extensive menu which includes all the traditional pub fair, some good English classics (like faggots) and the ubiquitous inclusion of European meals. All the food arrived piping hot, well cooked and well presented. Traditional elements such as the chips with my cod were hand cut and tasted lovely. We all had different dishes and each of us cleaned our plates! The pub was very busy by the time we left so I can imagine it's quite a hub during Friday lunch time. The bar itelf did seem very busy and there appeared to be more people standing than sitting (even though there are plenty of tables). Mad Hatters is a large, bright and airy pub with all the traditional touches (without looking out of date)

Delightful stay at the Mad Hatter Hotel! Comfy room, lovely staff, & good food and drinks in the pub. Perfectly situated for those seeking to explore London and see the sites.

The staff was very friendly and gave us some suggestions of places to eat and have coffee while we waited. The comfy room was SNUG but it had all of the amenities I needed. I wish the room had more accessible outlets. There was one on one side of the bed but not the other. We accidentally overloaded the circuit in our bedroom because of it by using a power strip from the single outlet and it shut down all of the power to the outlet and TV. The staff was quick to come up to take a look and fix the issue. They let us borrow their adapter. I did make use of the water provided at the front desk. The lobby seems to be a hang out place for studying and free wifi. There was an instance where sat down in the lobby momentarily just to figure out my destination and the staff immediately poured me some water. It's also close to a grocery store Overall I had a great experience and would recommend to anyone.

It is perhaps too easy for restaurant charges to be charged to rooms, as somebody else charged their breakfast to my room. The staff were able to provide me with a receipt of the charges and I quickly identified that it was not me that made those charges. Thankfully, they dealt with the issue in a reasonable time frame. # Ambiance The ground floor is a bustling area with a cafe and a restaurant. The rooms are nice and cozy, but is a little weird when we can hear other people's doors close. # Food and Drink (Room Service via Rondo) London Fog Posset with Gingerbread Ice Cream This dessert is the best item I ordered from here. The dessert itself is very creamy and tart. The gingerbread ice cream provides a nice medium to mellow out the strong acidity. Neal's Yard Cheeses, House Chutney & Oat Cakes The cheeseboard is alright. Comes with some apple slices too. The house chutney is pretty sweet, kind of jam like. Fish Goujons sandwich The brioche bun might be better than or at least equal to the fish here. The third floor smells of mold- nothing is visible but it stinks from one end of the hall to the other- noticeable as soon as you get out of the elevator. The room- ok size, poor air conditioning- they did bring a fan to us, dated, and in need of a thorough cleaning. Housekeeping is dismal. The beds are not made- the blanket/ duvet cover is smoothed out but bottom sheets are not. Dirty glasses are not replaced. Breakfast was good- well stocked, good variety. In summary- a very unpleasant stay in a dated, dirty "hotel" with poorly trained staff and management who doesn't care. I will not stay at any IHG properties in the future.

Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendliest staff who checked us in with no issues. We were offered cocktails, we were given a brief tour, and we were given London suggestions based on our likes and dislikes. The hotel itself is stunning. You don't get that stuffy cookie cutter hotel feeling... it's chic and artsy and fun. The rooms were incredible. The amenities plentiful and the utmost quality. And the art... the art is everywhere and it's a vibe. The hotel location is conveniently located just a block from the river Thames. It's also a short walk to the Tate Modern, Burrough Markets, Flibe Theater, the London Eye, Big Ben, etc. for anything else you're a short walk from many train stations (Black Friar, Waterloo, etc). You can also get a river cruise nearby. While we were mostly in our room just to sleep. The rooms were so fancy yet inviting. There is neat art hanging on the walls. There's complimentary chips (crisps) and chocolates in the cabinets near the mini fridge. The mini fridge is stocked with canned waters. There's also closet space, an iron, a fancy new Nespresso machine, tea options, a safe, mini fridge, etc There's a gym, a working art gallery and work space, a hip bar, and a delightful restaurant that serves both dinner and a breakfast that includes a delicious buffet. One day we were out and we came back to our room only to find that we had a bottle of champagne waiting on ice, truffles, and a thoughtful card from the staff. Another day we ran into a staff member near the hotel (not at work) who gave us more suggestions and told us that they wanted to comp our breakfast for the last couple days of our trip Some tips: Take advantage of the Mon-Thurs wine happy hour on the second floor. There is a lovely lounge and the wine pours freely for an hour. Mingle with the staff and other guests. Ask the staff for local recommendations. Use the carafe water stations on each floor to bring water to your room. There is stilled and sparkling water options on tap. And in the morning as you're leaving feel free to pick up canned water (stilled or sparkling) on your way out. Also, if it's raining there are complementary umbrellas you can borrow on your way out. The Bankside Autograph Collection is an incredible experience. There are so many little touches that make you feel like you're not only in the best of hands, but that the staff has gone above and beyond to make you feel like you're royalty. I will definitely be back here. I can't stop raving about our experience. Please. Don't waste your time with other lodgings. This is where you should stay. Cheers!!

As it turns out, we headed to the hotel to drop off our bags at least but were very pleasantly surprised to find we were able to check in immediately, and it was like 8:30am. Amazing. Got to our room and took a nap right away. Hotel and room was beautiful, trendy, artsy. Our room had great black out curtains and the bed was very comfortable. Water, coffee/tea and snacks in the room were all complimentary. Conveniently located by Blackfriars station and a grocery/convenience store for any needs. Located in a quieter area, tucked away from the hustle and bustle, but still close to major sites a short walk away. Also need to comment on customer service. Front desk staff were very friendly, professional, and helpful. They did a great job making us feel cared for during our stay.

They'd held our bags since our room wasn't ready at check-in - Imagine if I'd been a crook and had taken bags that weren't even mine?! She didn't even bother to check if the numbers on my ticket matched what was actually on the luggage. I DEFINITELY COULD HAVE TAKEN SOMEONE ELSE'S BAGS IF I WANTED TO. September 25, 2024…read more We stayed here using our Hilton Honors points for five nights with a sixth night free, and were upgraded from a standard to a superior room due to our Hilton Diamond status. Our room overlooked a quiet side street on the British Museum side, and came with a combination shower/bath bathroom including a cloth heater for drying clothes, very useful as we had quick drying socks and underwear for our two week stay in London and New York City. The bed was two twin beds side by side, so I didn't have to worry about the wife pulling the covers off of my side of the bed. Stayed here a second time starting April 22, 2025 for 5 nights. Stayed on the opposite side of the hotel in a superior room, with two windows instead of on one, complete with morning sunshine, as no tall buildings to block our view. Room came with at least four USB charging ports, so didn't need a plug converter for our cell phones nor notepads. A laptop would have required a plug converter to recharge. And the bed was a true queen size bed, and not two twins pushed together. Room was 12' x 12', and the bathroom was 10' x 6' with shower only. Huge bathroom for European hotel. Room came with dorm size mini refrigerator, and electronic safe, along with a 24" flat screen TV, puny by American sizes. Very quiet, even though we were next to the service elevator. Both stays came with chocolate chip cookies, water, and free buffet breakfast for Hilton Silver, Gold and Diamond members. We ended up paying 1088 GBP for four nights in a superior room, and getting the fifth night free due to spending $15000 on our American Express Hilton Honors card. Seems pricey at almost $354 a night, but it includes a 20% VAT, and the reservations were made 5 months in advance. Could have gotten a standard room for a single night at the last moment for half that price. We earned 40, 000 Hilton Honors points, or $240 due to our Hilton Diamond status, for our stay using the Amex credit card. Place in the middle of the action on a busy street. According to Tripadvisor, 280 restaurants and 91 attractions within 0.3 miles Piccadilly line tube stations in Holborn and Russell Square within 0.3 miles bracket the hotel. Can take the Piccadilly line directly from Heathrow Airport to Holborn or Russell Square without transferring for about $7.70 per person using contactless credit card. Uber would be about $70, and cab $90.

The desk area was very nice and roomy with a nice style about it. The lamps had good lighting that was warm and inviting. The bathroom had good water pressure and sink space to place all toiletries. The staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating. They allowed us to use the amenities at their spa when our room wasn't ready and we needed to clean up from the all-day travels we had spent since the day before coming over from the States. Staying at the hotel is an experience from the fact that this Victorian building used to be the original train station for St. Pancras. They have repurposed the high-ceiling gothic interior that originally served for the meeting and ticketing offices for the main lobby area and the Booking Office 1869 bar. The grandeur of the design is allowed to fully take place in the superb elements of fine dining and comforting relaxation. The Booking Office Bar & Restaurant was a mainstay for us during our time at the hotel. It's difficult not to want to check out the Victorian splendor of that interior while enjoying delicious cocktails and food at the bar or one of the nearby tables. While we didn't have the opportunity to enjoy the Victorian Punch Hour that was at 5:05 each afternoon, it is something of heard to check out if you can. In addition to the Booking Office, there is the Hansom in the lobby, the Seasonal Terrance for wine hour, MI + ME, and the Gothic Bar. The latter of which was also quite magical with its Victorian design and grand luxurious interior with darkly warm lighting and creative cocktail menu. This year I found the Rosewood and was immediately intrigued by their afternoon tea styled after Japanese wood block paintings. The tea is served in their mirror room, which is very elegant with hundreds of mirrors decorating the ceiling. To stay with the Japanese theme, the traditional tea sandwiches were replaced with amuse bouche that were definitely the best savory items at all of the afternoon tea venues I tried. The rice cracker with smoked salmon was delightful, as was the scallop. After the savory portion they brought out a miniature Japanese cheesecake with yuzu, matcha, and chocolate which was stunningly delicious. The pastries, which are arguably the star of the show are brought out in a decorative box which is opened to reveal three works of art. They were beautifully done, but more style than substance with the flavors not living up to the rest of the menu. The tea menu was comprehensive and I enjoyed all of the teas I tried. It was a bit hard deciding sometimes, because many of the tea descriptions spent so much time sharing how rare and fancy they were that they ran out of space to describe the actual flavor profiles. At the end of the meal they brought me a small box with one sachet of tea to take home, which was a lovely treat. The Rosewood put on a solid afternoon tea.
