What a lovely hotel. We just got back to the states and absolutely loved our stay at the Goring. Our room was beautifully appointed, quiet and clean. The beef wellington in the restaurant is a must. Look no further when in London. The staff will treat you like royalty while there! Thank you.

A two star rating, but easily could have been a one. Let me begin by saying The Goring's afternoon tea was abysmal by any standard. The view from the sunroom onto the green lawn is lovely and the yellow, white, and blue decor is bright and happy, BUT that's where the compliments end. The hostess was fine, the server NEVER and I do mean never smiled. She seemed like she would rather be anywhere but at The Goring serving tea, after our experience, I must join her in that sentiment. The tea was over-steeped, only warm, and bitter when served. We asked for another pot and never got it. The sandwiches were not flavorful or pleasing in any manner. The bread was completely stale. The desserts were only better. She only brought one set of desserts for two people. I can assure that you are paying for both sets of desserts for two people. My husband had to track her down to get the bill. When in London, definitely go to tea, just do not go to tea at The Goring. The staff was not trained well and did not impart the sophistication that one would expect at this beautiful hotel. The only worse tea we had in London was at the Ham Yard. The dining room at The Goring is a much better experience than the afternoon tea.

Very fancy but not flawless. A beautiful and elegant space with great service but a few hiccups. Went at the first seating last Saturday night and each enjoyed a starter, main and dessert. Food descriptions below but as an overarching gripe there a bunch of small things that were unexpected for a restaurant at Goring's price point and with a Michelin star. Twice utensils were dropped on the floor, twice dishes were set before the wrong person, the Wellington carving trolley wouldn't open for a really awkward almost five minutes and part of the garnish for three dishes spilled/fell over upon presentation. I guess it's pretty plausible that, for example, the wafers with the eggs drumkilbo would topple when set upon the table, but in the over 60 Michelin-starred places I've been it's never happened three separate times. All that said here's the food rundown; 1. Some sort of foie gras doughnut type app -- forgot to take a picture and can't remember the exact dish but remember it being sticky more than anything else; 2. Warm cured trout -- delicious, perfectly cured, really nice portion; 3. Eggs Drumkilbo -- I don't understand it but my wife loved it; 4. Poached chicken with root vegetables -- was allegedly delicious and my friend was very pleased with it 5. Beef Wellington -- unctuous, luxurious and decadent. My wife loved it and, despite my reluctance to eat red meat, I couldn't help devouring it And 6. Some kind of panna cotta with winter citrus -- loved the tart kick from the citrus Overall yeah it's fancy and a super elegant atmosphere but there's probably not a repeat visit in the cards

We stayed in two London hotels on our trip last month because when we were scheduling the trip we couldn't decide between the two so we thought, why not both! The Goring Hotel was the more traditional of the two and was absolutely lovely. Our room had a sitting room and the bathroom had a shower with a stand alone tub that was the the perfect size for a soak (I don't love an overly large tub). When you check in to your room they introduce you to Barbara the sheep and encourage you to take her home with you. Each night during turn down service they moved her to a new spot in the room which I was delighted by and I imagine children would be even more so! They had a very traditional afternoon tea that we really enjoyed and a beautiful display of flowers on the entry as we were there during the Chelsea Flower Show. My only critiques would be that some of the downstairs common spaces could use a bit of an update, particularly the dining room and the breakfast in the morning left something to be desired. All in all though we really loved our stay hear and I would definitely recommend the hotel.

Afternoon tea at the goring was fabulous! We loved the tea and bollinger champagne. Sandwiches were great and all of the sweet treats were divine. Highly recommend!

The food was fantastic! Watercress and horseradish soup, Cornish mackerel, cured trout roe: The taste was great and the fish was so well blended with the soup itself, and the the roe really lifted the freshness of the whole starter. Roast Cornish cod, lobster dumpling, young fennel, lobster bisque, citrus oil The entree was good, but the cod was a bit bland... the lobster dumpling was so good and so flavourful, I could have a whole plate of them! The bisque is a very good blend to the dumpling, but not really matching with the cod... Mascarpone and lime mousse, citrus fruit sorbet, passion fruit The mousse+chess and the sorbet are so refreshing and so beautifully presented. The service is a bit everywhere and the waiters were a bit running around and not so organised... Very nice restaurant in general, for getting Michelin Star, it really put in some effort, but need to keep it up for keeping it.

Ok. I don't know what's so good about this place. At least when we had the afternoon tea, the sandwiches were ok. Scone was like a rock. Dessert was way too sweet like the chef pour a cup of a sugar in everything. The one star is for the service. Oh btw, they served us a spoon with dust on it :) forgot to take a picture of that. But yea. The afternoon tea experience was not good at all.

Love this place. Quintessentially British and the perfect place to enjoy afternoon tea. Staff are so attentive. Would recommend trying the Blackcurrant & Hibiscus tea and the Bollinger Rosé!

Oh, no. My big mistake was coming here my first day back in London because after the phenomenal experience, everything else paled in comparison. I feel completely spoiled for anywhere else. We got here early and thanks to jet lag, I managed to sound like a complete idiot when I thought my reservation was earlier than it was. Rather than look down their noses at me, the staff welcomed us to sit in the lounge and relax until our reservation. We chilled for the hour and our server took great care of us. Once tea had started, they moved us straight into the tea area and we were waited on hand and foot. I'm fairly certain if I had asked the server to put the sugar into my tea and stir it, he would have done it. I wasn't about to be tacky enough to test that theory; however, I'm pretty sure it's true. After the entire world saw Kate Middleton walk out of this hotel, I had expected some stuffiness and a whole lot of upper class older people filling the seats. Not so at all. Every single staff member was wonderful and friendly. The tea was wonderful, the food was wonderful, the service was probably the best I've ever had in my life. The tea set was about the same per person as any of the luxury properties in town so it wasn't particularly extravagant (and we definitely felt that if anything, the service alone warranted the price). I'm fairly certain someone came by every five minutes just to make sure we were doing well. And with service like that, how could we be doing poorly? The next time I travel to London, I'll be staying here.

I love this hotel for so many reasons!!!!! Great service and attention to details, when we checked in I was introduced to my footman, not just bellman, butler but footmen. That was fun.... The room was stunning, the bathroom had wonderfully heated floors, they re-freshed my kiwi, dragon fruit and other incredible yummy items, plus they had this incredible homemade raspberry jam! It was crazy delicious!!!! My favorite amenity, I asked my footman to have my shoes polished, and they sent me a shoe fairy.... That's my kind of heaven!!! The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars, is they didn't have a gym on-site, I had to go down a few blocks to LA Fitness.... Really, but they did give me a cute little gym bag every time I went and my footman escorted me there on the first day.

We were greeted and assisted by an employee who observed us bringing multiple baggages up the entryway stairs. He wished us a Happy Anniversary, informed us that we were being upgraded to a suite on the fifth floor (room 503 yay yay!), shared the many amenities of the hotel, and handed us our keycards. Prior to our arrival in Kensington, we had been staying in smaller boutique hotels during our visits in Amsterdam and Paris. Therefore, the abundance of space in our suite almost made us feel like we were at home. Entering the room, we were greeted by a couch (with a TV mounted nearby) positioned in front of a sliding glass door that lead to a patio with two chairs and a table (not to mention a decent of the city). The kitchen area was complete with a microwave, utensils, plates, bowls, tea cups, coffee mugs, drinking glasses, and champagne flutes. On the counter was an expresso machine, expresso pods, a nifty device for boiling water, and a tasty assortment of chocolates with a message saying "Happy Anniversary!" Below the counter was not one, but two refrigerators (perfect for folks like us who like to purchase small grocery items - including champagne). The bedroom was a decent size with a mounted television (with the ability to access streaming services via Chromecast), snazzy Bluetooth speaker (I made good use of it!), a desk, and bed. I believe in saving the best for last...in my opinion...that would be the bathroom. The bathroom was complete with heated floors (unfortunately we did not get a chance to use them), a HUGE two person (depending on the size of said persons) sitting tub, and an open shower area with a shower head slightly extended from the ceiling (not ideal for folks that do not want to get their hair wet). Also, I forgot to mention that both the shower and hot tub have extensions. Since we were only at the hotel for three days and two nights, we did not have the time to utilize their many amenities. However, we were able to visit Apero, the bar located in the basement. We both ordered drinks from the cocktails menu, which we would later regret. Although flavorful, both drinks were loaded with so much ice that there was obviously little room for the drink itself. For both breakfast and dinner we enjoyed the convenience of room service. For breakfast we ordered the eggs, bacon, and wheat bread...which met our satisfaction's. For dinner we ordered the Chicken Ceasar salad with a side of fries with truffle mayonnaise...delicious! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ampersand Hotel. If you're looking for a hotel in which you can truly relax and enjoy the comfort and serenity of your room, I highly recommend staying here!

We were looking for something fun and different from a traditional afternoon tea, and this definitely leaned more interactive than expected. Arrival and First Impressions Reservations are important, and when we arrived the space was already filled with families. The setting feels polished but still very welcoming for kids, which is not always the case with afternoon tea in London. Service was excellent from the start, organized without feeling too formal, and the overall atmosphere had a fun, lively energy. The Highlights The experience is built around science themed trays filled with a mix of sweet and savory items. The kids immediately locked into the interactive elements, especially the build your own strawberry lemonade with different colored syrups, which turned into more of a mini experiment than just a drink. They also had cake pops, scones, and small PB and J sandwiches, all very approachable and fun. One of the better touches was a small take home item, a dinosaur themed tin, which the kids treated like a prize from the experience. It added to the overall feeling that this was designed with kids in mind. The adult trays had a similar variety with finger sandwiches, pastries, custards, and scones. Everything was solid and there was plenty to try. Being able to request more of anything you liked helped balance things out a bit and made it feel less restrictive for the price. The Challenges The biggest drawback is the cost. For a family of four it came out to around 350 USD, which is a significant spend for what is essentially afternoon tea. It leans more toward a themed experience than a traditional tea service, so if you are expecting something quiet and refined, this may not be the right fit. Final Thoughts This is one of those experiences that works really well if you go in with the right expectations. It is interactive, a little chaotic in a good way, and clearly designed for families more than traditional tea purists. We would not rush back and I removed a star due to the price, but we are glad we did it once because the kids genuinely loved it and still talk about it. If you are looking for something unique and are comfortable with the cost, it is worth it for the experience, though the value depends on how much you lean into the interactive side.

My two girlfriends and I rented a triple room and it was roomy enough for us, all of our luggage and towers of shopping bags. The bathroom had a towel warmer which came in handy- it is freezing in London right now. We had the perfect view of The Buttery's garden from our huge window. But for you, Yelp, I'll spill the reasons why you should stay here on your next visit to London... 1) The Location is awesome. You know the three rules of real-estate, right??? location, Location, LOCATION! Lime Tree (hence-forth, LT) is located in a very posh area of London. I saw McLarens and Rolls-Royces parked ON THE STREET where the hotel is located. Who parks a USD$200K+ car ON THE STREET?!? It is short walk to the Victoria Coach Station(s), Trains and Underground (Tube). There are plenty of pubs, restaurants, grocery stores and shops around. Our room overlooked the Peggy Porschen Bakery, which I kid you not, is Instagramed during all hours by "influencers". I only hope they get as much busy as they get featured in pics on the Internet! Also, down the street is Philip Treacy, Milner to Royalty! Again, LOCATION! 2) I would be remiss if I did not mention The Service at LT. There is an eight-hour shift rotation of lovely front desk people that check you in, collect your key when you leave (yes, there is a physical key to your room door and they ask that you leave it at the front desk everytime you leave). I am goingto butcher their name spellings (probably), but during our 8 night stay here, we came to know Simone, Martine, Maggy and Laura very well and all were charming, helpful and total professionals. My mother has stayed here several times before and was hoping to speak to the owner, Matt and Charlotte, but they were off on holiday, but I hear they are as hard-working and amiable as the Wondrous Women of the Front Desk (henceforth known as WWFD) 3) The Buttery - the SMALL breakfast/lunch restaurant in the LT (but you can't charge your meals to your room in the LT). The Word is out on on this place - there were just as many Locals eating here as there were guests at the hotel. RESERVATIONS are HIGHLY recommended (they are on OpenTable). I wrote a seperate review on The Buttery, so do a Yelp search and find that, but you honestly can't go wrong here. We ate 4 of the 8 days. TomTom across the street is also a one-location (at this time) gem and is packed after 9am. Early bird gets the good breakfast! Much love to the Lime Tree! I'll be back someday
