1 star? Here's why - we had to go through service elevators to get to our room (really?) and the hallway smelled of cigarette smoke, the WIFI is TERRIBLE (basically doesn't work at all for Zoom or Internet), the plumbing is so bad that we were afraid to use the toilet because it doesn't flush fully (took 3 flushes...), and we couldn't get hot water (just tepid warm) in the shower.Oh and there is no fan in the bathroom so the smells fester in there. In addition, in our "junior suite" the cheap coffee maker was in our clothes closet, 25' away from the refrigerator. This hotel is very tired, the infrastructure is failing it, the layout including the lobby is like a Winchester Mystery Mansion. We feel it wasn't worth half of what we paid for our room. Beware of these issues as they are real.Black

Surprise welcome gift from Colin's staff

I am so blown away by top-notch services we have received from this hotel... Front desk receptionists and the team lead - our room wasn't ready when we arrived at 4:30pm. Jonathan quickly informed his team lead and offered complimentary refreshment at the Colin's room... Colin's Room and staff - my husband and I got seated at the Collin's room while waiting for our suite to be ready. When the staff found out that it was my first time in London, she brought out sweets with the decorated writings, "Welcome to London!" It was such a sweet touch... I so loved it... The front desk receptionist kindly came to the Collin's Room to inform us that the room is ready. We didn't have to chase them to find out the room status... I've booked the Berkeley suite but it was still too small for us, so inquired an availability of next size suite, which the front desk team lead quickly found and accommodated us and I loved the suite... House keeping - the selected suite wasn't ready but a group of amazing house keeping staff had quickly worked together and cleaned the room in no tim. They worked fast and efficiently. Guest relations team - my husband and I went to Harrod's and had gone shopping all day. Our feet were tired and thirsty.. when we got back to the hotel suite, we were blown away by chocolate tower, rum, mimosa, teddy bear on our bed, and gift box of Best Of British Connection... it was perfect to replenish our thirst and recharge with the chocolates.. mmm Marcus Mitchelin-Starred Restaurant - I had 5 course and my husbands as 7 course paired with various wines. It was tasty... Hotel location is right next to Hyde Park which is in heart of London.. The Berkeley Hotel made my 1st time London stay to be most memorable and cherish-able experience... They knew how to provide a top-notch service and help their guest to have best experiences.. Thank you!

Came here for afternoon tea and it did not disappoint. Make sure to get a reservation ahead of time since they can fill up, even during the workdays. They had a great selection of teas and really well done finger sandwiches. The service was prompt and friendly, we even had a chance to talk tea history with one of the servers. If you are visiting and want a proper high tea, come here. They also do a different fashion theme every 6 months so you can find inspired cakes and desserts by certain fashion trends or designers, I heard the next one is in collaboration with Jimmy Choo! I had the pret a porter theme and the desserts were incredibly creative and absolutely decadent. Minus one star only because some of them looked better than they tasted. Overall, beautiful experience.

Had an incredible experience at the Beach Huts here. We were celebrating and they took excellent care of us. The desserts were the true highlight for me. But the bread and mains were eye-popping and delicious too. Hope to come back for brunch!

I'm not staying here BUT I just got my nails done here, it's my last day in London -- had to do it. AMAZING!!! If you ever want to get away from the London chaos, come here. The pool upstairs has such a beautiful view, and the echoes of the traffic and bustle is so quiet - it just reminds you of all that you get to leave behind in this little haven. Service was fantastic, accommodating and just plain lovely. A brilliant way to wrap up my stay here in London! So sad :(

After a 10 hour flight to London from SFO, the first thing I knew I was doing was having Pret a Portea at the Berkeley Hotel. It looked like the trendiest place to have tea and it was well worth it. Hey, if Victoria Beckham and Madonna like it, then of course it's got to be good. Or at least fashionable. In fact, at the table next to me two women were reading out of a fashion book with pictures of designer clothing and looking at their autographs. Even their servers are dressed in cute dresses. I tried their pear caramel tea, a recommendation from the hotel. Thank God they talked me out of just ordering the plain English Breakfast tea! You could smell the tea before it arrived at our table. Their fine china is gorgeous - trendy, modern stripes. When the food comes out, they bring out a little picture showing all the fashion trends and what each item represents. The sandwiches are good, but the cakes and sweets are almost too pretty to eat. Where else can you say you ate a Zac Posen sponge cake shoe or a Christian Louboutin sparkly shoe? Take lots of pictures! I know it's cheesy and probably annoying to the table next to you, but it's something to remember. Not only do they look good, but they taste good, which is important. Get your money's worth - eat a lot and keep asking them to refill your plates (they'll do it anyway since their service is also just as good at the food). The savouries are also delish. Make sure you ask for a box to take the sweets home. It comes in a pretty little box shaped like a purse.

Great afternoon tea! They are capable of catering to all dietary needs. They made everything for me without gluten, garlic, onion, and any high lactose dairy. The service was outstanding as well. I tried their lemon tea which was very refreshing to start. You can try as many teas as you like. They start your meals with savories. They had numerous sandwiches and three side dishes. Mine were all very similar to the regular menu items. Then after that we had an array of different desserts that were all delicious. If you don't finish everything they give you a nice box to take the food away in.

Most definitely worthy of its five stars - five stars for a five star rating hotel. My friend and I had fashion high tea booked here for the afternoon, and after arriving early we were shown to the powder room to freshen up. The fashion afternoon tea was a real treat, and if you are thinking of coming here it does get booked up months in advance due to its popularity so book early! We were greeted with a menu along with another booklet that explained what each of the items were and how the fashion collection for this season inspired the items we were going to eat. The waiter was fabulous explaining each of the items on the tiered plates, and replenishing all items when they disappeared. I also had a glass of the house champagne which was recommended to me. The sandwiches were delicious, with filings served on different breads and the cakes and cookies were divine. A fabulous experience that I would repeat again :)

I am reviewing the outdoor swimming pool at the hotel spa (have not been fortunate enough to stay in the Berkeley) and the afternoon area Starting with the spa- it is fairly easy to book a day pass (£150/ person) to use the spa, the gym and the outdoor pool On a day as hot as today I decided to go check the pool out and pretend to be away on holiday (till the actual trip happens) two things strike me at first : how clean the pool area is and how relatively small it was - I arrived at 11:30 and could hardly find any sun lounger to lay on But later in the day people seem to leave the pool so I was able to move to a prime (sunny) location All I can say is I had a great day- swimming, tanning, eating, drinking , watching YouTube videos, reading Everything was perfect at the Berkeley The afternoon tea was hard to book but it happened eventually and we tried (mother, sisters and myself) the Pret-a-portea experience which is to anyone into fashion is magnificent - we ate a Prada bag, Gucci boots and DVF wrap dress biscuit You can have excellent afternoon tea in so many hotels in London but only at the Berkeley is where you can get the wow factor with your tea

This luxury hotel has an intimate and traditional English feel to it. It's tucked down a side street off of Knightsbridge, which lends it a certain subtlety... the locale is less conspicuous and it doesn't feel as flashy as some of the other hotels of its caliber - which I like. As you drive up the doormen swiftly see you out of your taxi, tell you not to worry about your luggage, and usher you to the beautiful rust-toned marble check in area. I've stayed here twice, and both times my rooms were decked out in dark wood and beautiful molding, which could sound stuffy, but it wasn't - rather modern, but very English-regal. One had a light blue colour palette, which I liked better than the first, since it gave the room a nice bright airiness. By far the best part of the Berkeley is the pool and fitness room on the top floor. It offers a spectacular 360 view of London. There's nothing quite like panting on an elliptical machine while staring out over the twinkling lights of Knightsbridge, or taking a dip in a clear blue pool overlooking Hyde Park. There are people who pay just to come and use these facilities - that's how much appeal they have... a bona fide perk of staying here. Breakfast is also great... I recommend both the blueberry pancakes and the "spa breakfast" (which sounds like denial, but it's not) - an egg white omelet with mushrooms and some of the most perfectly roasted tomatoes I've ever had...seriously, I can still taste the flecks of sea salt they were sprinkled with. Just beware that the room service comes with a rather high service charge - I'm telling you so that a look of sticker shock doesn't flash across your face when presented with the bill. But I'd still order it... you're not going to find an alternative that's anywhere near as good. All said, it's all much what you'd expect from a 5-star hotel... polite and helpful staff, luxurious bedding and linens, well-appointed décor and details. Come here for the spa and the fact that it's more refined and less ostentatious than similarly-priced hotels in London.

We were greeted and assisted by an employee who observed us bringing multiple baggages up the entryway stairs. He wished us a Happy Anniversary, informed us that we were being upgraded to a suite on the fifth floor (room 503 yay yay!), shared the many amenities of the hotel, and handed us our keycards. Prior to our arrival in Kensington, we had been staying in smaller boutique hotels during our visits in Amsterdam and Paris. Therefore, the abundance of space in our suite almost made us feel like we were at home. Entering the room, we were greeted by a couch (with a TV mounted nearby) positioned in front of a sliding glass door that lead to a patio with two chairs and a table (not to mention a decent of the city). The kitchen area was complete with a microwave, utensils, plates, bowls, tea cups, coffee mugs, drinking glasses, and champagne flutes. On the counter was an expresso machine, expresso pods, a nifty device for boiling water, and a tasty assortment of chocolates with a message saying "Happy Anniversary!" Below the counter was not one, but two refrigerators (perfect for folks like us who like to purchase small grocery items - including champagne). The bedroom was a decent size with a mounted television (with the ability to access streaming services via Chromecast), snazzy Bluetooth speaker (I made good use of it!), a desk, and bed. I believe in saving the best for last...in my opinion...that would be the bathroom. The bathroom was complete with heated floors (unfortunately we did not get a chance to use them), a HUGE two person (depending on the size of said persons) sitting tub, and an open shower area with a shower head slightly extended from the ceiling (not ideal for folks that do not want to get their hair wet). Also, I forgot to mention that both the shower and hot tub have extensions. Since we were only at the hotel for three days and two nights, we did not have the time to utilize their many amenities. However, we were able to visit Apero, the bar located in the basement. We both ordered drinks from the cocktails menu, which we would later regret. Although flavorful, both drinks were loaded with so much ice that there was obviously little room for the drink itself. For both breakfast and dinner we enjoyed the convenience of room service. For breakfast we ordered the eggs, bacon, and wheat bread...which met our satisfaction's. For dinner we ordered the Chicken Ceasar salad with a side of fries with truffle mayonnaise...delicious! Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Ampersand Hotel. If you're looking for a hotel in which you can truly relax and enjoy the comfort and serenity of your room, I highly recommend staying here!

We were looking for something fun and different from a traditional afternoon tea, and this definitely leaned more interactive than expected. Arrival and First Impressions Reservations are important, and when we arrived the space was already filled with families. The setting feels polished but still very welcoming for kids, which is not always the case with afternoon tea in London. Service was excellent from the start, organized without feeling too formal, and the overall atmosphere had a fun, lively energy. The Highlights The experience is built around science themed trays filled with a mix of sweet and savory items. The kids immediately locked into the interactive elements, especially the build your own strawberry lemonade with different colored syrups, which turned into more of a mini experiment than just a drink. They also had cake pops, scones, and small PB and J sandwiches, all very approachable and fun. One of the better touches was a small take home item, a dinosaur themed tin, which the kids treated like a prize from the experience. It added to the overall feeling that this was designed with kids in mind. The adult trays had a similar variety with finger sandwiches, pastries, custards, and scones. Everything was solid and there was plenty to try. Being able to request more of anything you liked helped balance things out a bit and made it feel less restrictive for the price. The Challenges The biggest drawback is the cost. For a family of four it came out to around 350 USD, which is a significant spend for what is essentially afternoon tea. It leans more toward a themed experience than a traditional tea service, so if you are expecting something quiet and refined, this may not be the right fit. Final Thoughts This is one of those experiences that works really well if you go in with the right expectations. It is interactive, a little chaotic in a good way, and clearly designed for families more than traditional tea purists. We would not rush back and I removed a star due to the price, but we are glad we did it once because the kids genuinely loved it and still talk about it. If you are looking for something unique and are comfortable with the cost, it is worth it for the experience, though the value depends on how much you lean into the interactive side.

My two girlfriends and I rented a triple room and it was roomy enough for us, all of our luggage and towers of shopping bags. We were only given one key, and you have to be buzzed in for safety reasons after 10 or 11 pm, but that was fine for us. The staff was so accommodating. The bathroom had a towel warmer which came in handy- it is freezing in London right now. We had the perfect view of The Buttery's garden from our huge window. But for you, Yelp, I'll spill the reasons why you should stay here on your next visit to London... 1) The Location is awesome. You know the three rules of real-estate, right??? location, Location, LOCATION! Lime Tree (hence-forth, LT) is located in a very posh area of London. I saw McLarens and Rolls-Royces parked ON THE STREET where the hotel is located. Who parks a USD$200K+ car ON THE STREET?!? It is short walk to the Victoria Coach Station(s), Trains and Underground (Tube). There are plenty of pubs, restaurants, grocery stores and shops around. Our room overlooked the Peggy Porschen Bakery, which I kid you not, is Instagramed during all hours by "influencers". I only hope they get as much busy as they get featured in pics on the Internet! Also, down the street is Philip Treacy, Milner to Royalty! Again, LOCATION! 2) I would be remiss if I did not mention The Service at LT. There is an eight-hour shift rotation of lovely front desk people that check you in, collect your key when you leave (yes, there is a physical key to your room door and they ask that you leave it at the front desk everytime you leave). I am goingto butcher their name spellings (probably), but during our 8 night stay here, we came to know Simone, Martine, Maggy and Laura very well and all were charming, helpful and total professionals. My mother has stayed here several times before and was hoping to speak to the owner, Matt and Charlotte, but they were off on holiday, but I hear they are as hard-working and amiable as the Wondrous Women of the Front Desk (henceforth known as WWFD) 3) The Buttery - the SMALL breakfast/lunch restaurant in the LT (but you can't charge your meals to your room in the LT). The Word is out on on this place - there were just as many Locals eating here as there were guests at the hotel. RESERVATIONS are HIGHLY recommended (they are on OpenTable). I wrote a seperate review on The Buttery, so do a Yelp search and find that, but you honestly can't go wrong here. We ate 4 of the 8 days. TomTom across the street is also a one-location (at this time) gem and is packed after 9am. Early bird gets the good breakfast! Much love to the Lime Tree! I'll be back someday
