If I could give a 6th star I absolutely would (or more... way more). Our British holiday was spectacular, and largely due to this incredible hotel and its wonderful staff. Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendliest staff who checked us in with no issues. We were offered cocktails, we were given a brief tour, and we were given London suggestions based on our likes and dislikes. The hotel itself is stunning. You don't get that stuffy cookie cutter hotel feeling... it's chic and artsy and fun. The rooms were incredible. The amenities plentiful and the utmost quality. And the art... the art is everywhere and it's a vibe. The hotel location is conveniently located just a block from the river Thames. It's also a short walk to the Tate Modern, Burrough Markets, Flibe Theater, the London Eye, Big Ben, etc. for anything else you're a short walk from many train stations (Black Friar, Waterloo, etc). You can also get a river cruise nearby. While we were mostly in our room just to sleep. The rooms were so fancy yet inviting. There is neat art hanging on the walls. There's complimentary chips (crisps) and chocolates in the cabinets near the mini fridge. The mini fridge is stocked with canned waters. There's also closet space, an iron, a fancy new Nespresso machine, tea options, a safe, mini fridge, etc There's a gym, a working art gallery and work space, a hip bar, and a delightful restaurant that serves both dinner and a breakfast that includes a delicious buffet. One day we were out and we came back to our room only to find that we had a bottle of champagne waiting on ice, truffles, and a thoughtful card from the staff. Another day we ran into a staff member near the hotel (not at work) who gave us more suggestions and told us that they wanted to comp our breakfast for the last couple days of our trip Some tips: Take advantage of the Mon-Thurs wine happy hour on the second floor. There is a lovely lounge and the wine pours freely for an hour. Mingle with the staff and other guests. Ask the staff for local recommendations. Use the carafe water stations on each floor to bring water to your room. There is stilled and sparkling water options on tap. And in the morning as you're leaving feel free to pick up canned water (stilled or sparkling) on your way out. Also, if it's raining there are complementary umbrellas you can borrow on your way out. The Bankside Autograph Collection is an incredible experience. There are so many little touches that make you feel like you're not only in the best of hands, but that the staff has gone above and beyond to make you feel like you're royalty. I will definitely be back here. I can't stop raving about our experience. Please. Don't waste your time with other lodgings. This is where you should stay. Cheers!! read more

Amazing first impression right away. We had a flight in from the United States, which was an overnight, landing in London just after 6am local time. Having not gotten much sleep at all, we were tired and a little apprehensive about what we would do to kill time before check in, which is normally at 3pm. We were hopeful we could get early check in (depending on availability of course) maybe a few hours earlier if we asked nicely... As it turns out, we headed to the hotel to drop off our bags at least but were very pleasantly surprised to find we were able to check in immediately, and it was like 8:30am. Amazing. Got to our room and took a nap right away. Hotel and room was beautiful, trendy, artsy. Our room had great black out curtains and the bed was very comfortable. Water, coffee/tea and snacks in the room were all complimentary. Conveniently located by Blackfriars station and a grocery/convenience store for any needs. Located in a quieter area, tucked away from the hustle and bustle, but still close to major sites a short walk away. Also need to comment on customer service. Front desk staff were very friendly, professional, and helpful. They did a great job making us feel cared for during our stay. read more

I can understand why this is in Trip Advisor's circle of excellence --our experience was fantastic and although we split our stay in London between two hotels (not knowing the neighborhoods), I wish we had stayed here solely for our week long stay. The hotel is fantastic and started blissfully with a super early check in allowed (they had a room available for us at 10:30 am after we arrived from an early morning flight into Heathrow) and so grateful since our family of four was able to shower and freshen up before hitting the National Gallery. They were so sweet to allow us a delayed check out as well (noon check out which allowed us to fit in St. Paul's the morning we left). The room was a good size for London with comfortable modern beds, a really clean interior, and I loved the skin care products (fragrant smell and moisturizing). I loved the modern decor and little touches with complementary water and the bamboo room cards. With the warm weather, it is impressive how cool the room got and the blackout shades were great to help with jet lag. With my husband's Marriott status, they were kind to give us two complimentary breakfasts and the buffet was excellent. What couldn't be beat though is the fantastic location--walking distance to Thameslink (Blackfriars) and the underground (Thameslink/Blackfriars) and walking distance to so many fantastic sites (St. Paul's, Tate Modern, Millennium Bridge). More importantly there once on the tube there are few spots you have to head on for major London spots (eg Westminster with Big Ben, the Abbey, and National Gallery is just a stop away). read more

I read every review. There is absolutely no reason the Bankside should get less than 5 stars. The two reviews I read that gave 4 stars didn't specify why. This hotel is excellent in all aspects. I felt extremely well taken care of and really enjoyed my London stay. We celebrated my husband's birthday here, and they had champagne and a chocolate dessert with macarons waiting for us in the room when we returned from our day out. Things we loved about the breakfast buffet: the hash browns (they're like tater tots - yum), the cappuccinos, the fresh eggs, the fresh bacon, and the grilled portobello mushrooms. In life, it's the little things that make a difference, and the Bankside pays attention to the BIG things AND the LITTLE things. Truly exceptional. read more

Bankside Hotel is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed at. I was fortunate to stay here during my London vacation and wished I could have stayed longer. Location: It is a newer looking hotel in South Bank. Walking distance to both Tate Museum and Borough Market. Tube stations to either Blackfriars, Southwark, or Waterloo is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Accessible along the piers and to other bridges. I felt generally pretty safe around that area even at 10pm. Service: Upon walking into the hotel, they have more of an open table style front desk with agents on their laptops ready for your arrival. Any requests, questions, or concerns were answered and dealt with promptly without hesitation. I also felt staff members went their way to ensure I had a good time staying at their hotel without the pretentiousness and excessive attention I may get at fancy establishments (and I usually do not like that). Room: The room size was fairly reasonable for me. Bed was very comfy. I really like the sweater-like robes and slippers they provided. All modern amenities. Bathroom amenities were stocked well. Refreshment stand includes tea and Nespresso pods for you to enjoy. The iron and hair dryers are in the first drawer inside the closet. I also had their breakfast buffets. Aside from English breakfast selections, they also had mini pastries, yogurt, crackers, smoked salmon. It is a very nice buffet to try at least once. It's £24 if you decide to eat the day of, but £18 if you request it at the front desk the night before. Overall, we know London's accommodation cost is generally very pricey, but the service, room, and everything really made up the bulk of my positive experience in London. The cost is worth it and I would not hesitate to stay here again. read more

One of the nicest hotels we've ever stayed at, anywhere. We've been in swankier places, for sure, but the service at Bankside can't be beat. There were all sorts of small touches that we appreciated as well, such as complementary snacks in the room, refillable bottles of water, and complementary wine in the afternoon. This is an excellent 4-star hotel (not 5, cause that's the super fancy Abu Dhabi level that I can't even walk in) that's contemporary. The staff were all professional and offered a drink upon checkin. The room had water you could get with vases outside in the hallway. You get a Nespresso machine with pods as well as tea AND snacks. The location is a bit rough with tube entrances about 10 minute+ walk away. The Southwerk station isn't on the main Circle line you want to be on for touristy stuff. The location is perfect however for the Tate Modern and a walk to the Borough Market. It's quiet and near grocery stores. I suppose my feet were very tired from so much walking. read more

So we moved uptown when we stayed at Bankside Hotel. You walk in to this lovely sweet smelling reception area to a smiling receptionist named James who basically takes care of all your questions and needs. You walk through the lobby and you see all this cool modern funky art. As an old person just being there made me feel like a young London hipster. As we went to our room they had this cool vending machine. I know who's ever heard of such. I can't explain it. You just have to see it. They also had free water stations throughout the hotel which I appreciate from an environmental perspective. We had a large double bed room with the softest robes and a bath tub. Great decor and wonderful coffee maker. The gym had a Peleton, rowing machine along with all the usual weights and treadmills. Location was pleasant with views of the Thames as you walk along the path. If you want a little splurge and some wonderful service this is the place. read more

This was hands down the nicest hotel I have ever stayed at. My husband and I were on our honeymoon and London was our first stop. We were greeted at the lobby with friendly faces and champagne, while we checked in. We were escorted to our room where it was nicely decorated with roses and heart balloons. We had a whole bottle of champagne sitting in an ice bucket, macaroons, and a box of chocolates. The hotel was very high tech, there was an electric lock bolt on the side, and you can switch it to privacy or housekeeping needed which just a tap. They had still water and sparkling water on tap in the hallways with nice glass pitchers. My favorite part is their wine hour, for an hour or two they serve wine, complimentary to all guest. It was perfect after walking around the Tour of London, very refreshing. There were two times my husband and I waited in the lobby and tried to order a cab on the online app. The concierge saw us struggling and took it upon himself to order a cab for us and the cab came very fast. Talk about amazing customer service. Their morning breakfast is delicious. They have hot breakfast; eggs, blistered tomatoes, mushrooms, bacon, sausage. Cold breakfast; variety of cheeses and meats, yogurts, jams, etc. They have a coffee bar that is delicious! I love an almond latte. There were times we did not have time to sit down and we just ordered coffee to go, still just as amazing and they were fast as well. If you are coming to London, I highly recommend this hotel. We went to Paris and Rome after and Bankside in London is still my favorite hotel. read more

This brand new hotel in the Bankside is very chic and staffed with helpful staff. The room is well appointed with modern touches like in tablet for all your room service, information and USB ports on both sides of the bed as well as almost every outlet. The lobby doesn't have the traditional check in desk but a large table with table decor which looks just like a mid century modern communal table. In each floor outside the elevators there's a vending machine for you bar needs and there's also a water station with choices of spring room temperature, sparking and cold water. Aside from the appointments this hotel is situated in the center of everything in London. Trains stations and taxis are close and everywhere. Uber is readily available as well. I would definitely recommend and use this hotel again in the future. read more

Review is for both the hotel and the restaurant, Art Yard. You can't find the restaurant on Yelp yet. It deserves to be listed! I have only eaten two things but they were unique, tasty and well done. Tempura zucchini is called something french but it is just perfect tempura on huge wedges. I don't like curry a lot but I went with a monkfish Curry recommendation and it didn't disappoint. Very Unique. I thought it would come in a curry broth of some type but instead it was kind of a coating on distinct filets. I might like some mashed potatoes instead of the wild rice but it was a good combo. Ordered the chocolate mouse dessert and that wasn't what I expected either! Very light and pistachio ice cream. Almost ordered another it was so good! Get out the word! Hotel is new and clean. Smallish rooms even for my double upgrade due to Marriott Plat status. But clean and tasteful. Location does take some effort to get from Paddington from Heathrow express on the Tube. But very central. read more

We are breakfasts almost every day: coffee=perfect, selection= varied and consistently solid....The bar for drinks were professional and a bit of art. Speaking of art... the place is designed well, my chi felt right at home with the mid century modern style updates with whimsical artistic touches that come together for a great experience.
