Small desk in room

We booked this place based on location and reviews. It's minutes (about 5 or less) from the Tate Museum and about a 12 minute walk from Borough Market. There is a Marks & Spencer Simply Food market across the street so if you need water or snacks it's very convenient. Generally the location is very quiet at night as there are office buildings across the street. If you are used to traditional style hotels though you might be disappointed. Check-in is all via self serve, right down to the room keys programming. There are staff around to provide assistance if needed. Some other details to note: - the room does not have a coffee maker which is something you would normally expect from other hotels but there is a tiny bar fridge built into the sink unit (see picture); there is a 24 hour canteen in the lobby where you can purchase anything from food to drinks - no ice bucket or room with ice machine and vending machines (although this might be something more common in North America) - rooms are small! I agree with another comment about cruise cabin style - room can get very warm! Ventilation does not seem to be very good in general. We were only able to lower the temperature to 18 degrees Celsius (64 Fahrenheit) - you get exactly 2 bath towels and 2 hand towels; they don't have face towels (I asked) - the shower and toilet is enclosed but the sink is in the room itself - toiletries are all in refillable bottles - iron and ironing board is in a separate room for the whole floor to share so you need to carry your garment to the ironing room - everything is done via a tablet they have in the room; everything from controlling the blinds to the lights to the TV. There are switches around the room and a TV remote but you can do everything with the tablet - if you want your room cleaned you need to indicate this on the tablet; room cleaning is not automatic; apparently if you waive the room cleaning a donation is made to someplace? - they have 2 types of cleaning, light and full. Light is straightening the bed and refreshing towels; full is new sheets, new towels etc; - even if you request your room to be cleaned every day you might only get a full clean every 2-3 days. We had our towels changed and there was a yellow stain on one...and this was a fresh towel. - bed in the room is wall to wall at one end of the room so the person sleeping closest to the wall might have a hard time getting in and out and won't have a side table to place a drink, phone etc. CitizenM is a global chain with locations in the US as well. Would we stay here again? Unsure. I think it's good for business travellers, single people and some couples who don't mind the bed situation. Not really made for families and small children. This is also a good place if you don't plan to spend a lot of time at the hotel, you are in London after all.

"Living Room" at Breakfast time.

Tried out the CMH for a stay in London, and am I glad we did! Wonderfully friendly staff, free luggage check before check-in. The business model is "small-room, big bed, go downstairs for breakfast," and this presented no problem. The small room was CLEAN, the big bed was very COMFORTABLE, and the breakfast staff was very ACCOMMODATING. You could get basic filter coffee from the urn, but when the staff behind the bar make your cappuccino exactly the way you want, well, why not? The place is tastefully decorated, the living room relaxing, the bedrooms quiet. Yes, I'd go back without hesitation. Thanks CMH, for a great stay!

Wife and I stayed for 4 days. Very convenient to everything and hard to beat the price. The staff is great and the hotel overall very clean. That being said, I would not recommend it for couples. The rooms are tiny, like being on a cruise ship, as one review commented. The bed goes from wall to wall, meaning that while very big and comfortable, you have to literally climb over the person in front to get out of the bed! The room was also quite warm. So, as said, good for a single person but definitely not a couple.

Let me begin this review by saying that this hotel is getting 5 stars from me based on their outstanding customer service alone. The bf and I had a few issues during our stay that were address in depth with management and resolved to our satisfaction (shoutout to Milan). This is the second CitizenM property I've stayed in London. The other was the Tower of London location. There are a few differences, the most important is that there is no rooftop bar here, and the closest tube station is a half mile or so away (Southwark or Waterloo). This hotel is across the street from a Simply Food, which is great to grab groceries. There is also a Tesco Express and Sainsbury down the block if SF is closed. A definite plus for having extra snack options. If you're too lazy to leave, they have a minimal but well executed food menu available until 10pm in the bar area. If you don't make it before then, there is pizza on demand available afterward, as well as some sweets and pastries acquired from Borough market. The lobby and rooms were as expected. Functional with creative flair. The in-room technology worked flawlessly this time. As far as noise, I was sick in bed for a day and a half during my trip and was able to have a comfortable rest and recover quickly. The hotel is not for everyone (i.e. families with children) but is perfect for me and my bf.

If you are looking for a place that balances precariously between hip and swanky, between convenient and alarmingly compact, and between budget-worthy and appallingly expensive, that's a helluva lot to ask of a hotel. May I call you Princess? Regardless, Your Highness, citizenM Bankside fits the bill handsomely, as Jamie W. and I were quite pleased with our stay there. I have to thank Yelp ambassador Miriam W. for her globetrotting wisdom as her insights swayed me to book four nights there last month before our flight to Cape Town. Great location. The hotel is an easy five-minute stroll from the Southwark tube station. It's also close to attractions like the Borough Market and the Millennium Bridge and really good, informal eateries like The Table and Vapiano. The place makes me think if Richard Branson opened a hotel under his Virgin brand, this would be it - slick in a good way, incredibly attentive service, and ultra-contemporary decor with lots of pink and purple among other vibrant colors (photo: http://bit.ly/1i5Z888). The expansive lobby is a hub of activity with laptoppers and suits holding court at the tables and the couches. The bar is a great scene, very relaxing with great bartenders (photo: http://bit.ly/1lrWveM). There's a cafe of sorts called canteenM that offers small plates (photo: http://bit.ly/1eTrvpr). The rooms are small but laid out with style and maximum efficiency. Ours had an extra-large king-size bed that took up the whole window side of the room (photo: http://bit.ly/1gMHYqT), a power rain shower with an intoxicating Australian shower head, and an iPad-type tool to control the temperature, the club-like lighting and the TV. Most importantly, the rooms were effectively insulated from outside noise whether it come from neighboring rooms or the traffic on Southwark Street. They also arranged our ridiculously early-morning (4:30AM) cab ride to St. Pancras to catch the Eurostar to Paris. Our four nights cost a total of £ 472 ($795), a pretty reasonable sum considering the location and amenities. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Let's start off with the bed which is GIGANTIC and super comfortable. The modern chic room's have so many special touches and quality features such as luxurious big bath towels, a big screen TV that offers a ton of free movies as well as live channels. This is a nice plus since you do not get that at many hotels. For the tech savvy there is a iPad that controls the blinds, TV and the lighting that offer you a bunch of options with different shades of lighting to set the mood; but they are easy to use and operate. A small fridge is inside the room and everything inside is free! The hotel has a great bar and restaurant area with a selection of books to buy. The hotel offers free WiFi throughout as well as free computers and a printer to use in the ground floor. There is no need to pack your international adopters as the hotel rooms have different sockets to use for each device which everyone traveling knows how annoying that can be. They have nice extra touches in the hotel room like am and pm shampoo & conditioners. The hotel is centrally located and close to two tube stations as well as a few local pubs and places to eat. If you are looking to save money while you are on your stay, there is a M&S food store right across the street if you are looking for sandwiches, snacks and drinks. There are rental bikes right outside the hotel which is a great cheap way to see London and will only cost you £2 per day and the first thirty minutes are free. You really aren't going to get such great amenities at such a great price anywhere else in London and I highly recommend this Hotel.

Utterly awesome. I was in a bind as my hotel was cordoned off after the Westminster Bridge attack, so I was a bit stressed and panicky. The chap that met me was helpful and kind, and offered me a reduced rack rate as there was just one room left and he could see my desperation. He also gave me a free glass of wine which was very welcome. The room was amazing. Everything operated from the iPad next to the bed: Curtains, blinds, TV, Colour changing mood lights. The pod bathroom had a rain shower, and the bed was MASSIVE!!! I could have cried I was so happy. The hotel had a collection of objet d'art to envy my own house. The bar was central with space to lounge, sit at a table and eat or work with a laptop. There was a buffet area where breakfast and evening options were delivered, and both were not hugely expensive. I paid £12 for an evening meal. The atrium with trees in was quite beautiful, and the books you could take off the shelves to read were wonderful. I would say that this was probably the best hotel I have ever stayed in.

Artsy, Classy, and a lot of character is what comes to my mind when I think about Citizen M. Definitely has to be one of the coolest hotels I have stayed in. So there are several reasons for that : 1. Fantastic Lobby and Bar area -- It is so cool that I can totally see outsiders (non guests) wanting to come and spend their evening or night here. The bar not just has funky and cool couches but also a great work station with I Macs and its free wifi. 2. Modern and Funky Rooms -- I was so excited about my room that I skyped my best friend in US to show her how cool my room was. There is mood lighting and music (romance, party, relax, business etc) which you can control with a mini touch pad (how cool?). I loved it so much I kept fiddling with it all night and my colleague who was staying right opposite my room said she thought my room was occupied by some freak! :p The bed is MASSIVE and super comfy (ahhhh that is what you need when you are on a work trip). 3. Friendly Staff -- The minute I entered the hotel I was greeted by this extremely friendly boy who showed me how to check-in the hotel in a very funky way (every thing they have is very touchy.. I mean involves a touch pad). Well the good news is I am still staying here and it is in a great location as its close to London Bridge station, hence just a short walk away from the beautiful south bank and Tate Modern (Two of my favorite places in London... yay!). I shall definitely update the review if my experience changes in the next 2 days! Verdict : Definitely the most modern and innovative hotel I have stayed in! :)

Small room - but functional!
Chris J.

Overall, CitizenM is a good hotel. The location is very good. No, it's not in the west end of London which is more touristy but it is still very close of the Tower of London, Shakespeare's Globe, etc (under a 20 minute walk). If you're willing to walk it's not that far to the London Eye, Big Ben, etc either (maybe 20 minutes). Of course if walking isn't your thing there are several tube stations nearby (unless of course you're there during a strike like we were). The room was nice and functional. But very small. It felt more like staying on a cruise ship. Not recommended for anymore than two people in the room... Certainly wouldn't be good for a family for example. Of course the smaller room gives them the chance to have lower prices. Rates were great given that it is a central London hotel. And while the rooms are small the hotel lobby is huge with room to sit, have a drink or a small bite to eat, or work. Most of the room controls are by tablet. While neat they are a bit moody and didn't always respond well to touch. I'll be back next time we are in London!

Rooms are small but super stylish as is the whole hotel. It's a pleasure for your eye! Bar in the lobby with multiple areas of different style is open 24/7, and it's not crowded or noisy. I was able to work till 2am, as they have tons of plugs (otherwise my Mac would have run out of battery at 11pm) plus they carry FENTIMANS, my favorite Lemonade (Rose Lemonade with a hint of Ginger). Breakfast and dinner are also presented with style, as a buffet. Everything was good, the small dinner dishes are creative and partially vegetarian. Now I discovered that the room even has 3 outlet systems: British, European (mainland), and US. That's unique! Hope to come back to this splendid oasis of coolness and design :-)

In love with this hotel! Only sad I couldn't stay longer!!! Good, central local. Near the Globe theatre and Tower of London. Easy walk across the bridge to access other parts of the city. Close to a few Tube stations as well. Everyone was very helpful and nice! The hotel is designed beautifully and tastefully. You could tell everyone around was enjoying themselves (lovely lobby, book area, and communal dinning/work room). The room was very comfortable and I really loved the blackout curtains after a transcontinental flight. They also offer quick sandwiches if you don't want a sit down restaurant. I got the capresse sandwich on the best baguette bread! Yum. Will definitely stay again :)

Quirky pillows.

The staff was very friendly and gave us some suggestions of places to eat and have coffee while we waited. The comfy room was SNUG but it had all of the amenities I needed. I wish the room had more accessible outlets. There was one on one side of the bed but not the other. We accidentally overloaded the circuit in our bedroom because of it by using a power strip from the single outlet and it shut down all of the power to the outlet and TV. The staff was quick to come up to take a look and fix the issue. They let us borrow their adapter. I did make use of the water provided at the front desk. The lobby seems to be a hang out place for studying and free wifi. There was an instance where sat down in the lobby momentarily just to figure out my destination and the staff immediately poured me some water. Thankfully, they dealt with the issue in a reasonable time frame. # Ambiance The ground floor is a bustling area with a cafe and a restaurant. Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendliest staff who checked us in with no issues. We were offered cocktails, we were given a brief tour, and we were given London suggestions based on our likes and dislikes. The hotel itself is stunning. You don't get that stuffy cookie cutter hotel feeling... it's chic and artsy and fun. The rooms were incredible. The amenities plentiful and the utmost quality. And the art... the art is everywhere and it's a vibe. The hotel location is conveniently located just a block from the river Thames. It's also a short walk to the Tate Modern, Burrough Markets, Flibe Theater, the London Eye, Big Ben, etc. for anything else you're a short walk from many train stations (Black Friar, Waterloo, etc). You can also get a river cruise nearby. While we were mostly in our room just to sleep. The rooms were so fancy yet inviting. There is neat art hanging on the walls. There's also closet space, an iron, a fancy new Nespresso machine, tea options, a safe, mini fridge, etc There's a gym, a working art gallery and work space, a hip bar, and a delightful restaurant that serves both dinner and a breakfast that includes a delicious buffet. One day we were out and we came back to our room only to find that we had a bottle of champagne waiting on ice, truffles, and a thoughtful card from the staff. Another day we ran into a staff member near the hotel (not at work) who gave us more suggestions and told us that they wanted to comp our breakfast for the last couple days of our trip Some tips: Take advantage of the Mon-Thurs wine happy hour on the second floor. September 25, 2024…read more We stayed here using our Hilton Honors points for five nights with a sixth night free, and were upgraded from a standard to a superior room due to our Hilton Diamond status. Our room overlooked a quiet side street on the British Museum side, and came with a combination shower/bath bathroom including a cloth heater for drying clothes, very useful as we had quick drying socks and underwear for our two week stay in London and New York City. The bed was two twin beds side by side, so I didn't have to worry about the wife pulling the covers off of my side of the bed. Stayed here a second time starting April 22, 2025 for 5 nights. Stayed on the opposite side of the hotel in a superior room, with two windows instead of on one, complete with morning sunshine, as no tall buildings to block our view. Room came with at least four USB charging ports, so didn't need a plug converter for our cell phones nor notepads. A laptop would have required a plug converter to recharge. And the bed was a true queen size bed, and not two twins pushed together. Room was 12' x 12', and the bathroom was 10' x 6' with shower only. Huge bathroom for European hotel. Room came with dorm size mini refrigerator, and electronic safe, along with a 24" flat screen TV, puny by American sizes. Very quiet, even though we were next to the service elevator. Both stays came with chocolate chip cookies, water, and free buffet breakfast for Hilton Silver, Gold and Diamond members. We ended up paying 1088 GBP for four nights in a superior room, and getting the fifth night free due to spending $15000 on our American Express Hilton Honors card. Seems pricey at almost $354 a night, but it includes a 20% VAT, and the reservations were made 5 months in advance. Could have gotten a standard room for a single night at the last moment for half that price. We earned 40, 000 Hilton Honors points, or $240 due to our Hilton Diamond status, for our stay using the Amex credit card. Place in the middle of the action on a busy street. According to Tripadvisor, 280 restaurants and 91 attractions within 0.3 miles Piccadilly line tube stations in Holborn and Russell Square within 0.3 miles bracket the hotel. Can take the Piccadilly line directly from Heathrow Airport to Holborn or Russell Square without transferring for about $7.70 per person using contactless credit card. Uber would be about $70, and cab $90.

It was…read morean absolute glorious hotel for of grand Victorian ceilings and elegant nouveau furnishings and style. We spent four nights at the St. Pancras in a lovely room with. A cozy long sized bed and sofa to lounge when we needed to chill without lying down. There was ample closet space and some shelving to putting away clothes. The desk area was very nice and roomy with a nice style about it. The lamps had good lighting that was warm and inviting. The bathroom had good water pressure and sink space to place all toiletries. The staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating. They allowed us to use the amenities at their spa when our room wasn't ready and we needed to clean up from the all-day travels we had spent since the day before coming over from the States. Staying at the hotel is an experience from the fact that this Victorian building used to be the original train station for St. Pancras. They have repurposed the high-ceiling gothic interior that originally served for the meeting and ticketing offices for the main lobby area and the Booking Office 1869 bar. The grandeur of the design is allowed to fully take place in the superb elements of fine dining and comforting relaxation. The Booking Office Bar & Restaurant was a mainstay for us during our time at the hotel. It's difficult not to want to check out the Victorian splendor of that interior while enjoying delicious cocktails and food at the bar or one of the nearby tables. While we didn't have the opportunity to enjoy the Victorian Punch Hour that was at 5:05 each afternoon, it is something of heard to check out if you can. In addition to the Booking Office, there is the Hansom in the lobby, the Seasonal Terrance for wine hour, MI + ME, and the Gothic Bar. The latter of which was also quite magical with its Victorian design and grand luxurious interior with darkly warm lighting and creative cocktail menu. Located next to King's Cross Station in addition to St. Pancras International Station, you have immediate access to the high-speed rail system that takes you as far north as Scotland and south throughout the heart of Europe. You have one of the central hubs to multiple Underground rail stations that can take you all through Central London and its outskirts. You are also a very short walking distance from both the British Library and the British Museum. Like literally across the street close. The St. Pancras was an excellent choice for a hotel during our stay in Central London. I hope we can return again when set our course back across the pond.

This year I found the Rosewood and was immediately intrigued by their afternoon tea styled after Japanese wood block paintings. The tea is served in their mirror room, which is very elegant with hundreds of mirrors decorating the ceiling. To stay with the Japanese theme, the traditional tea sandwiches were replaced with amuse bouche that were definitely the best savory items at all of the afternoon tea venues I tried. The rice cracker with smoked salmon was delightful, as was the scallop. After the savory portion they brought out a miniature Japanese cheesecake with yuzu, matcha, and chocolate which was stunningly delicious. The pastries, which are arguably the star of the show are brought out in a decorative box which is opened to reveal three works of art. They were beautifully done, but more style than substance with the flavors not living up to the rest of the menu. The tea menu was comprehensive and I enjoyed all of the teas I tried. It was a bit hard deciding sometimes, because many of the tea descriptions spent so much time sharing how rare and fancy they were that they ran out of space to describe the actual flavor profiles. At the end of the meal they brought me a small box with one sachet of tea to take home, which was a lovely treat. The Rosewood put on a solid afternoon tea.

I find it difficult to criticize this establishment…read more My first visit was way back when for my 21st birthday where I enjoyed high tea for the first time, and my most recent visit was as a 48-year old college professor on a study abroad trip. The service is still just as wonderful as it was decades ago: * Penelope looks like she belongs on the set of Bridgerton (delightful service) *Leonardo is clearly in love with the work he does and is fantastic with clients * the piano player needs a raise. (When I say this little Asian woman played her SOUL out!!! She played "muzak" versions of Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and many more. Truly a delight! She did a classical version of "Ribbon in the Sky" and I was done.) I just can't say enough wonderful things about the Savoy. The treats were delectable, the ambiance was worth every penny, and the staff are too kind for words. The sandwiches and sweets were a delight, the duck was a little tough, and the champagne was delightfully overpriced (€25 a glass), but it was ultimately a lovely experience. Treat yourself. Treat a friend. It's worth it.

I'm disappointed in security because they keep saying it's likely a mistake and got tossed in the linens and they're searching the linens. They also said they hope we find it in our luggage. It is NOT a mistake. It was on a table. You cannot gaslight us; it is housekeeping. Just because you review security cameras outside our room, doesn't mean she didn't stuff it in her bra inside the room. This hotel stay cost us $8,000 USD for a 4 night stay. We should not be fearing safety and security. Instead we filed a police report in a foreign county. Their inperson response to this with their "investigation" has ZERO RESOLUTION and their customer service is trash. This is also happening midpoint in our trip so hub has to travel from London to Paris with no cc's and cash. I hate this place. I hope The Savoy remains cursed 2026.
