    The burger challenge!
    Prad P.

Brook Green is a hotel in West London, with a pub on the ground floor. This review is solely for the pub. We came to Brook Green as a party of 6, to check out the burger challenge. Yes, I know that such gluttony is a sin, a western scar upon the starving world, and should be abhorred by those of us with a moral compass. I, however, possess no such a thing, and the idea of a multi-layered burger struck me as something I should try out at least once in my life. Actually that's a lie - I had no intention of attempting the challenge. It was only when I saw the large chalkboard hung up with the names of those who have completed the challenge in under 15 minutes that I thought 'What the hell, Why not..?" and joined my friends in the attempt. The challenge is a huge burger with 3 thick beef patties, and lots of cheese/veg layers, a bucket of chips, a pot of coleslaw and a basket of batter-fried gherkins. Yeah, I don't know what I was thinking either. When the boards arrived with our challenge layeth upon them, I immediately figured I wasn't even going to attempt trying this challenge. Primarily because I have little desire to make myself ill. However, if you are going to try this challenge, I'd advise against drinking any pints of beer - the carbonated drinks will just hold you back! Oh, and the gherkins are ridiculously greasy. It was good fun though - the food was surprisingly tasty. For some reason, I thought it'd be tasteless and mass produced gunk, but the ingredients were of good quality and made for a good meal when enjoyed at a normal pace. The pub itself is a great space - the high ceilings and well stocked bar made this a nice hangout on a weekend afternoon with friends. If you're there to try the burger challenge, then go prepared, and have a good strategy - you'll need it!

    Sunday roast

This review is only for the pub on the ground floor. Been here many times for drinks but never really had food until last Sunday. We were served by a very nice lady who was definitely one of the best I've ever seen. She was really nice at all times. The food is amazing. We ordered the 3 meat roast that comes with chicken, pork belly and beef. Everything was amazing and I can't express how much I loved it. The dessert was brownie with vanilla ice cream that was also very good. Totally recommended. Will come back here many times for sure.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. Great location, friendly and very helpful staff, and those biscuits! Would absolutely stay here again.

We got there and after a long flight we were very tired but we arrived around 9ish and they were able to get us in way earlier at around 12 we were SO grateful. Then, the beds were super comfy and the breakfast was SOO good. Lots of variety, loved watching tv the people that work there are so kind. When we were leaving we needed a cab but the trains were on strike so we didn't end up getting one but the very very nice man at the front desk called every cab place in the area and was able to give us directions to a bus. Overall if I come back I'll definitely be staying here again!

The hotel had to meet a few requirements: 1) free breakfast. 2) Comfortable room 3) Be located near an Underground station 4) reasonably priced. This met them all by being a well-known brand, without breaking the bank. The employees are friendly and helpful as well. The hotel is located a 5-10 minute walk from the District and Piccadilly lines as well as the West Brompton train station. If you are in town for a football match at Stamford Bridge (Go Chelsea!) you are about a 10-15 minute walk away. The hotel and lobby is very nice and clean. My room was very comfortable with a decent sized bathroom. It was clean with the exception of some mildewed grout in the shower. The breakfast was better than most. Lots of choices for food and drink. Plan it carefully because the later you sit down to eat, the more crowded it is. At times it was hard to find a clean table to sit at. And although it's supposed to start at 7 am we were able to grab some food at 6 am one morning. At night they serve drinks at a small bar. Considering how expensive London can be, this place offers a lot at a reasonable price. There are plenty of pubs and markets minutes away. I will definitely stay again next year.

It is also next door to many businesses, restaurants and a mall...everything is within a 5 minute walk. When I first checked in, I had been awake for approximately 29 hours and was simply exhausted from the trip. They got me into a room on the main floor next to reception but the window was large, faced the train station and a street band was playing loud music which blared into the room making sleep impossible. I asked to be moved and was promptly moved up one more floor with a smaller window but still facing the train station (all rooms face the road and train station). The music was softened and I could handle it, so I kept this room. Room itself is small but very functional and charming. A small desk, double bed, two bedside tables, a small chair and a wardrobe are provided. Each room has a small but beautiful chandelier. The bathroom in the first room was small but the second room had a good sized bahroom which had a shower including a raindrop shower head, toilet and stand alone sink (no counter but a small shelf in front of the mirror above the sink). TV selection was limited but did not annoy me. The room amenities folder said that they had guest laundry service but when I inquired at the front desk, they said they didn't have it. I then asked where the nearest self service laundromat was and they said about a 5 minute was down the road. Being this exhausted with full days didn't allow me to get my laundry done myself so I had to wait to get my laundry done at my next stop in the trip (would be nice to see they remove this service in the room amenities guide because they don't really offer it). Service was average. Sometimes I would be greeted upon walking in and other times I was not (perhaps they didn't see me). Lots of stairs and no lift, so for people with a tough time with stairs, beware. I would stay again if I was on my own but it would be tight with another person in a standard room. Recommended.
