I was very impressed with the service the hotel provided as servers frequently checked on us to make sure we were okay. She (the server) did an excellent job explaining what each item was. Tea and food were outstanding and delicious. I'm so glad we had Afternoon Tea here because the major touristy places that did tea were always full or very busy for days ahead . great 5 day stay. the hotel is in walking distance from the hammersmith station. rooms are clean, comfortable, and quiet. the desk staff is very friendly and helpful... answering all my questions and addressing any concerns i had very quickly, in the lobby there is a restaurant that served food including breakfast. they also have a bar/lounge located inside the lobby. the interior design looks goos as well and the landscape architecture on the outside of the building. overall good experience read more

A great place for family vacation. Book a family room for our London trip, bed is comfortable and big, kids slept on the sofa bed, and each has an individual bed, surprising (two single beds that assemble the sofa). Room service everyday keeps them refreshing and clean. Location is convenient and close to underground station and bus terminal at Hammersmith, 5 minutes walking distance to good restaurants, coffee shops, and groceries. This hotel needs a major renovation. It get 3 stars because the breakfast is good and the wait staff at the breakfast is very good. If your interested in staying in the Hammersmith area with easy access to the tube etc this is the place to stay. However, I repeat it needs to be refreshed. The bathtub has mold and mildew. I reported the aforementioned to the front desk, as well as the fact that my bed sheet had to be replaced because it was dirty and the fact that when I tried called the operator, housekeeping and another number no one answered. They did replace my bedsheet however with another one with 2 stains on it. By the way the ac doesn't work well. What they did was go in my room when I was gone, it had the do not disturb sign on the door. They put a bottle of wine and 2 waters in my room. My wife and I didn't drink the wine and returned it. I guess this was their attempt to smooth our stay over. The worst hotel I've ever stayed at. Hey, you know what they only deserve 2 stars! read more

I am vacationing from California and am unaware of what London hotels have to offer. In our queen bed room,there are no wash cloths, hair conditioner, ice bucket, clock or clock radio. Stayed here for maybe six days and it was A-OK. Comparable to a Hampton Inn. But gosh, this hotel is huge. I got lost trying to find my room after retrieving ice. Ice in a cup, because there was no ice bucket. The ice was for my tap water. Our room came with two bottles of water, which I thought would be replenished every day. Not so. And I drink a lot of water, so this whole ordeal of drinking tap (FINE), but no ice bucket and having to travel down the hall, around the corner, down that hall and around another for only enough ice for the cup that was probably intended to rinse my mouth out with after brushing? Well, that was a lot. The housekeeping was kinda blah, as far as the consistency with cleaning -- probably because there are 2,000 rooms. When I saw a housekeeper, she gave me more bottled water. When I asked the front desk, they tried to charge me. We got drink vouchers for the birthday that was celebrated. It had to be redeemed same day; that makes sense. I thought it was a nice gesture. There are two and half restaurants inside. I ordered carbonara from the restaurant/lounge and it was the biggest portion ever. Also, very good. Another night, I had dinner at the other place literally across the room. It was a fancy buffet. The best lamb I've ever eaten. The desserts were so beautiful but really not good at all. This buffet was 30 pounds or so. Fully worth it, regardless of the picture-pretty only dessert options. And lastly, I enjoyed breakfast. Stuffed, every single day. So overall, I was comfortable. But our room was cramped and our toilet was ridiculous. Every time we flushed it, water splashed all over the floor. It was quite aggressive. And when I used the restroom in the hotel's lobby, the toilets weren't like that. But that was OK. Everything was copacetic. And this hotel is a five minute walk from the underground station. We stayed here June 21-23 2014. It was the start to a 2 week vacation and tour with Cosmos. Novotels were my favorite during our adventure. This hotel had a good location, very short walk to the Hammersmith tube station. The breakfasts were solid, even for picky American eaters. Our room was clean. Staff was friendly. They let us check into our hotel at 11am, which after a long overnight flight was greatly appreciated. Cons: Our room overlooked a youth Hostel and lacked a view of the city. My mother, grandmother and myself stayed at this hotel to commemorate a massive year for us. We were very excited about our trip and spent a lot of money planning a few weeks of travel in the UK. This was our first stop for 4 days. Positive things-hotel was clean, breakfast was good, kind bar/restaurant staff, and solid location. What did the place in for me was the horrendous lack of customer service provided by night manager Mihaela. My family and I had a small load of laundry we wished to have cleaned before leaving London. We inquired about it, and were told to place the laundry in the required bag in our room and drop it off to the front desk. Upon checking our room, we only had a "Laundry ready for collection" hanger in our drawer. My mother called the front desk and was informed that the clothes were required to be in a certain bag and they would bring us one. Wonderful. About hour later (around 2300) we called the front desk again to inquire about a bag as we wished to go to sleep. They apologized that they'd forgotten to bring the bag and would send one up right away--which they did. The following morning we dropped our small bag of clothes off at 0745, front desk staff wrote our room number on the bag, and went about our day. That night we went to collect our clothes and pay for them when we were informed it was going to cost £187. My mother, shell shocked, became upset and asked to speak with the manager. The first thing Mihaela said upon coming to the desk was that "we had to pay for the clothes or we wouldn't get them back". No apologies, no assistance, nothing. She informed my mother that she signed the form saying she would pay for the clothes (which she did not as was evident when the clothes were dropped off and there was no signature on the itemized clothing receipt) if she wanted them back. She informed the manager that all she had been told about and given was a bag. Mihaela just stated that the clothes had been washed and needed to be paid for. At this point, seeing my mother very upset, I stepped in and offered to pay for the clothes as we were leaving at 0700 the next morning. I told Mihaela that I was upset with her customer service and the way she handled my family. I acknowledged that my mother had been upset, but as a customer service rep, it was her job to rise above angry customers (as that is what I have been doing in my line of work of customer service my entire life) and provide the best service possible. I communicated to her that I felt she hadn't given us quality customer service to which she replied "well my manager doesn't think so" and "I can give you an email address to complain to." Still no apologies, no efforts to accommodate our situation, and no attempt to deescalate the situation. Had we been given solid customer service and the decency of an attempt to improve the situation, I would have been happy to pay and never say another word. I felt I was treated unfairly and unkindly. Unfortunately I do not believe we will ever stay at Novotel again. read more

The name should be novMOTEL. This hotel is the ghetto. I've stayed here for 2 years while on holiday and will never come back. I had 2 rooms and they were both garbage the shower would constantly burn then freeze you. No pressure in either showers and room 6035 is the worst room I've ever seen, anywhere. Ian the night manager is unsympathetic and uncaring wanting to give me points instead of fixing the problem, even after acknowledging that there was a problem, reported by maintenance. Traveling from LA to London and staying here for multiple years means nothing to them. Please avoid at all costs. Costs....haha it's expensive too. What a roach motel. Ps. The fitness center has apples, water, towels. It was very well-stocked and well-kept. The rooms though... I could hear the next door neighbor muffled snoring at night. What can I say? My review might be unfair because I am used to small bed and breakfast style hotels and I like them much better. This hotel is huge. Good things first, the actual room is very nice and the hotel itself is very clean. That's the good I have. Let's start with the bad: the reception is actually sort of hidden in the first floor. It has to be the less welcoming hotel on earth. Some girls get your reservation in very modern tablets, you'd think that is good but is awful. Can't they just greet you on a desk like normal people? I felt like if they wanted me out of there fast. Next to the the reception is an absurdly overpriced restaurant (think 50£ just for the main course) where you can have breakfast for "just" 17£. Even though my trip is budgeted to my company I didn't really feel like enjoying the experience. I got room 5067 (yes 67) at the end of a couple of long corridors. It feels like a prison until you get up close. If it wasn't bear the hammersmith, I would simply have gone somewhere else. Unfortunately there was a play I really wanted to catch and I am staying only one night. Oh, checkout is at 12 bit late checkout is free until 14. I guess that's a plus. read more

I stayed at this hotel for the NineWorlds GeekFest convention, we booked under convention rates which were a little cheaper than the normal pricing. The layout of this hotel is a little confusing. When you arrive by car or cab, you're dropped off downstairs, one and a half levels below the reception. When you arrive on foot, you have to walk around the outside, up a ramp and through a large outside space with planters. Once you reach reception, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. They were able to provide me with a room directly by the lifts to help me with my foot injury, which I was very thankful for. The rooms are clean and well maintained, if a bit on the small side. The view isn't great from any side of the hotel, so don't expect awesome skyline or landscape ogling from your room. They have a smallish gym, a bar and two restaurants. One of the restaurants is quite pricey, the buffet restaurant is reasonable for what they offer. We ate there twice and both times the selection was fantastic, with sushi, a vast range of salads, dips and breads, several main courses to choose from and a large dessert selection. I can definitely recommend the buffet restaurant if you're into buffets. The bar has reasonable food as well as drinks, expect midrange pricing for this one. If you're on a budget, there are plenty of restaurants and pubs within walking distance and on Fridays there's a large food market during lunch and early dinner time at Lyric square just ten minutes up the road. The breakfast we had included in our stay was also a buffet style breakfast with a large selection of cooked breakfast, cereal, breads, fruit and more. The rooms used for the convention were very nice, with decent air conditioning and good seating. Overall we were quite happy with our stay. read more

Wow, I can't believe anyone gave this place more than two stars. All the money spent building this place, went into the lobby areas, because it sure as hell didn't go into the rooms! Every single Novotel I stayed had the same super uncomfortable beds, ugh! And oh did I mention the desk-drawer blow dryer?? What is that about?? They charge for wi-fi 12 pounds, but you can get online in the lobby for 20 minutes while the rest of the world reads your email as well. When you're dropped off you hit ground level, so you have to go upstairs to check in! A majority of the rooms face inside with a view of the A/C unit! While this place is close to their public transportation system that they call the tube, it's NOT a hotel which is ideally located. I would look else where! read more

The rooms are clean, spacious enough, & fairly up-to-date. The staff is generally courteous & helpful, & the location is pretty good, close to Hammersmith Tube Station, Kensington Palace & the Gardens. Internet Wi-Fi seems to be unstable, on/off/on again connection. Housekeeping failed to replenish our tea/coffee service (sugar, milk, clean cups...nothing). Ack! No sugar the next morning, WTF! The inclusive buffet breakfast is more aggravation than enjoyment. All items are room temperature at best, if not cold. The fried eggs look like they were prepared at opening. The scrambled eggs had a texture & flavor never before encountered by this diner. Perhaps, the kitchen used an extra-heaping of the Brits' ubiquitous 2% milk. The pork sausage was good, & the sauteed whole mushrooms were decent (would have been better if halved at least). The baked beans had the taste, texture, & temperature of a product right out of the can, LITERALLY. The "hashbrowns" were slices of potatoes a tad thicker than that involved to make (USA) CHIPS. Certainly not worth anywhere's near the £17.5 pp. ($22.50 USD's pp) I've read that one of the typical stereotypes for Americans is that we're loud, & yet the two Hispanics seated 1' away from our table jabbered loudly all the way through our meal... didn't shut up even long enough to take a breath. I'll request a table tomorrow in a desolate part of the dining room tomorrow. read more

Great news - my single room had TWO absolutely phenom hair dryers, with concentrators, that blew my baby bliss out of the water. So there's that. BUT bring conditioner, because they don't have it. Overall, a really solid Novotel. They negotiate rates with my company, and the amenities are decent (gym, gift shop, etc) - and breakfast buffet not bad. Service was superb. The main thing this place gets a bad rap for is all the nickel and dining -- wifi past 24 hours, movies, etc. Irritating to me too. But it's spacious and pleasant and right by the tube, so I'd go again. read more

We stayed here a few years back over Christmas. it was a nice, clean hotel in a beautiful area called Covent Garden that s a short walk to Picaadilly Circus (The Times Square of London).We booked one of the apartment-hotel rooms. It included a small but pretty well stocked (in the way of utensils and cookware) kitchen. Friendly service all around for a very reasonable price booked through Expedia.I can't sing the praises of Expedia and Orbitz enough, they have saved me so much money throughout the years on trips whether it's domestic or international. I don't know is anything has changed recently but the breakfast was NOT complimentary as stated on the itinerary. Breakfast wound up being £20 per day which at the time was around $37 per person. That's an awful lot of money for beans on toast and Weetabix!!!! **Here's a tip if you've never been to London : The subways (er, I mean Tube) stop running at night at a certain time and you have to walk allll the way through London back to your hotel because gypsy cabs at 4 a.m. are never a good idea******* read more

My company had a three days sales meeting at this hotel near Hammersmith station recently. I can confirm the statements of previous reviews: the hotel is huge (long walk from elevator to my room which was not even the last one at the corridor), it is rather newly equipped, comfortable rooms, new bathrooms. I can not understand how a "business hotel" can charge for internet, this should be just a normal included service for this type of hotel. At least there was a choice between an overpriced LAN conection bundle with PayTV channels and a regular (also not really cheap) Wireless LAN offer of a mobile company. Breakfast was a bit difficult if you didn't show up early: if guests from 700 roooms need to pass one person taking room numbers and seating them this may take a while at times ... Otherwise bowls for cereals were a joke but there were many other choices of dairy, fresh fruit, english breakfast items, bread, etc. so this did not become a real problem. I don't know if it's worth the money as I didn't have to pay personally, but generally it was a good experience read more

WOW Really??? How can anyone give this hotel more than 1 star? Ok maybe 2 stars. This place charges for everything. I came in a group of 24. that being said we had 22 total rooms. YES 22 ROOMS....... People were charged an extra 10 pounds a day for an extra person in their room. I called up looking for for the ice bucket for my room and they told me that this was an extra charge for the ice bucket. Really? Who charges for an ice bucket when every hotel has an ice bucket in the rooms. They called us around 10:30 ish to tell us that our rooms were ready. We got here and only 6 rooms were ready. We would have stayed where we were at if we had known it would have been longer for the rooms to be ready. I think I will suggest going to another place the next time I am on a business trip. read more

Great PRICE for GREAT hotel! I love these hotels. They are always so clean and spacious. There is a great sitting area in the reception if you come in before check in time. Plenty of seats and they even have a game table for kids. There are computers too. The staff are very helpful and gave a bag of scoobi doos for our toddler. The room is clean and comfortable. I especially enjoy the nespresso machine. There is a mall and coffee shops in walking distance. All good so far! read more

Well, the hotel itself is not bad: it has a nice lobby, a good restaurant area with large (and delicious) breakfast and lunch buffets, a cool bar and even a little gym. Rooms are wide and clean. On the other hand it's unbelievable that the only way to use the internet in the rooms is either via TV or via a wired LAN connection (which was also pretty expensive BTW, at £15 per day)... it's 2013 and I never travel with a laptop, relying entirely on my smartphones and tablet, which made it impossible to surf from my room. On the other hand internet in the lobby was free, but it is pretty uncomfortable to have to go downstairs to check and reply to emails. read more

I just recently had my second stay at this hotel (4 nights from 2/25 to 3/1). My first stay went without incident though I echo that it is a very large hotel and you can sometimes get lost looking for your room. The restaurant is very classy looking and decent food - but too expensive for the quality. My recent stay was terrible. There was dried blood on the cover in my room when I checked in (the room had clearly already been made up and the sheets not changed). I found out later I had been double charged by the hotel and almost a month later I still haven't gotten the charge removed. They had construction going on in the first floor so entering and exiting the hotel was challenging. The desk staff is nice but doesn't seem empowered to really help with anything. My last night there after already having a few bad experiences there was a huge party going on in the restaurant and the first floor until late into the night. All the partygoers were on different floors and I was kept awake until 3 in the morning with drunken revelers (well dressed though I'll give them that) yelling and romping through the halls (I mentioned the hotel is very big) probably searching for their rooms in a drunken state. Having said all that - the fitness room is bigger than most in UK hotels. The decor is very modern and the lobby/restaurant are beautiful. The hallways and rooms are drab and worn/cracked with sometimes broken fixtures in the bathrooms/rooms from my 2 stays both rooms had issues. I definitely won't be staying here again, and I'm encouraging my company to go with a different hotel near our London office. I'd recommend anyone looking to find a hotel nearby that's just as cheap but better run and doesn't double-charge you for a crappy experience. read more

Giving this place just 1 star seems a bit off, but at the same time, understanding what "dial tone services" are and what they mean could go a long ways to an improved rating. So lets start with the internet connectivity at this place. I wasn't able to find, or do a review of "Quadriga" separately, but really.... you suck ass. You better hope that I don't have the opportunity to do business over here with a managed service provider, because you WON'T be getting the business. First off, really? run your internet through the TV, and if the connection gets stuck, than you reset the TV? Wow... talk about failure up front, this is one of the stupidest ideas I've heard of. Second, wired only connection. For those of us in the modern world with phones and tablets and multiple devices in a room, you fail on meeting the grade. Third, connection stability. The connection dropped more times than I can count in a day. Out of the blue, just drops. So I have a window open with a ping -t going, and all the sudden it just goes from slow to stopping... and then a minute or two later... starts again!!! wtf?!?! Fourth, speed of the connection. slow.... my phone(yes, I rigged an AP) uploads a photo, and everything comes to a crashing halt. The fact that I went to the Quadriga site and see that they use Cisco just amuses me. I guess they are paying all that money to the vendor and can't get good "talent" to operate the gear. Novotel... really... it might be too late, and you might already be in bed with Quadriga, but wow... they suck... and you will continue to suffer when it comes to customer service so long as the above problems. The room wasn't a bad size. At the check-in, we requested that someone clear out the mini-fridge. With a 4yr old, she doesn't play with the stuff, we don't EVER use that stuff, and we'd like to use it for storing stuff. Person at the front desk says "ok... tomorrow" as house keeping does their thing. No problem. It never got done. The tub+shower is a fail. They have this little 1 1/8th length pane of glass, with anothe 1/8 thing that flips either in or out. the tub is soooo narrow that I practically have to stand with my feet together to get a flat part of the tub. Water goes everywhere. Crappy design. Oh.. I think they tried to save money on the bathroom door as it's like japanese rice-paper or something. The sink in the bathroom looks cool.... but really poor design as well. Whoever bought the thing didn't really check to make sure the stopper in the sink as long enough so that when you want to let the water out, the lever in the drain actually has an impact on the stopper so the stopper rises and lets water out. It trickles down, but if you lift the stopper up and out completely/separately, the sink works great. Lame. The workout facilities were pretty lame.... they were there, but when I went in there, someone had turned up the heat to 24degs C.... which is REALLY warm. Also, the room is positioned in a way so that the cardio equipment is nicely facing right into the morning sun. Blind much? And the worst thing is the incapability of the service staff. We called down to the front desk a couple times regarding hearing music in our room from another unit or something. They never figured it out, never set proper expectations as to meeting us, or took good initiative to move us or really solve the problem. The breakfast is actually pretty good. Other than the fact that the guests of this place are just pretty oblivious and rude..... and yes... that's how I really feel. read more

I didnt stay here but I had the dubious pleasure of using the joint for a few days during a conferance ... not overly impressed. Staff in general (apart from one very nice girl in the bar) had their heads tightly pressed up inside their bottywots and the prices were frankly over the top for what one got. The Wireless net connection when one could locate it was weaker than my grannys left arm on a good day (and shes long buried), and the food the place offered up during the conference was less than palatable - this is not just my view, but that of many of my colleagues during the few days I spent there. If your company is picking up the tab its one thing, if its your own hard earned ... theres nicer, friendlier and more honest places to stay ... where? ... go yelp! read more

A decent London hotel. Room was clean and modern, although the bed had the hardest futon mattress I have ever slept on, very uncomfortable. The shower swung wildly between freezing and scalding repeatedly, making for a very unpleasant shower. On the plus side, they let us check in early and it was a nice property. read more

Disgusted with the attitude of the staff at this hotel. Rude, unhelpful, when reception was approached because something expected had not arrived in the room after being hand delivered to the hotel, the response was "What do you expect me to do about it?" Um....call security? Look for it behind the desk? Figure out what happened to it? Apologise for the inconvenience you are causing? Whatever - get yourself some customer service training, you clearly desperately need it. Won`t be staying here again and won`t advise anyone else to either. read more

This is now a 4 star hotel in Hammersmith. It has undergone a huge refurbishment programme over the last few years and is now a large 4 star conference hotel. The bedrooms are fine - they all have a double bed and a sofa which can be used as an extra bed. The bathrooms are all new with new showers etc. They also have a large conference room which is ideal for groups of 500 + - great Xmas company parties and conferences and bedrooms to use too! read more

we heard this was a 'business hotel', and it is pretty brass tacks basic in the business way. but...i came to love the sparse, large room and long cavernous hallways. the complimentary breakfast in the restaurant called 'elements' [which CRACKS me up for some reason, haha ELEMENTS! Should we dine at...elements?] was really great in scope including English fare like baked beans, eggs, toast, broiled tomatoes, and blood pudding [eeek!] as well as more simple cereals, mueslix, crepes, fruit and the like. The location of the hotel was tops, with the hammersmith and city line and the piccadilly line right across the street, I so loved that too. Also, the internet connection was zippy. yay. read more
