It was sad news to hear that Macy's downtown was closing. It was even more sad and very somber to walk in today and see the shelves empty, shelves gone and knowing the shelves wouldn't be restocked. This Macy's has been here since the 50's! It survived so much. I remember being a teenager and getting caught stealing here by their security lol. My mom had to come get me and they proceeded to tell her they catch state workers stealing on their lunch breaks all the time. Crazy. It will be weird seeing this building empty. Macys was always good for a quick trip when you needed a Friday night outfit. I did plenty of Christmas shopping here throughout the years. Most workers were nice while others seemed like they couldn't wait to clock out. This was always the spot to get your ticket validated after or before an event at Golden 1 center. It wasn't the cheapest place to shop but there were deals to be had if you looked hard enough. Going to miss finding a quick shirt to go out to an event in or picking out a cologne that I had wanted. Most of all I'll just miss what was. Who knows what will replace Macy's? I don't but nothing can replace it really. read more

What a difference a few weeks make. The store is really closing. Everything has been uprooted. Clothing has been moved together. It's no longer arranged by brand. There are lots of clothing that I don't recognize. They must be bringing items from other stores for the closeout. In the housewares there are a lot of items that I didn't recognize either. I have a feeling that a closeout company has taken over and has moved there wares into Macys. There aren't any real discounts. The most you will get off is 50% off. Maybe another 10%. You can get these same deals during their regular sales. read more

Was just wasting time and stopped by here to beat the heat. I found myself spending a hour here unexpectedly. I walked slowly and browsed both the men's and home good sections. Men's is on the first floor and home good on the top floor. The men's section isn't much compared to the women's and children who have 1.5 floors dedicated just to themselves. Most of the things looked pretty bland. But it was spotless and well lit so that's a positive! The clearance rack did have a lot of stuff which I thought was better and more interesting to look at than the rest of the floor and what was in "season." It seemed like most of the males shopping were in the clearance section. There wasn't anyone really on the floor to talk to. But the few I saw smiled and waved. I think the clearance section was pretty cheap. I think the rest of the floor items weren't too pricey. So I think the value of this location was pretty good. Its right next to where the Sacramento Kings play basketball. So it could get a lot of foot traffic on the days they play / when the arena has an event going on. I love this Macys, never busy and you can order online for pickup the same day. So happy that they have Toys R Us on the top floor to make Christmas shopping so easy! Be careful about the connected parking garage downstairs, they close at a specific time and if you don't remove your car by then, your car is stuck there until morning. This seems to be a real problem with no solutions as people patronize the restaurants when shopping as well. Should maybe get after hours security to help. My mom's car was locked in this garage when we came back from eating at Echo & Rig - there was no one there to help and no number to call. I had to Google this issue and several reviews popped up stating you'll have to wait until the garage opens up the next morning so taking 1star off for this major inconvenience. Recently purchased some cologne for my son, sales associate was super helpful. As a teen I used to want to work here but they never hired me lol!!! Make sure to get the bigger bottle of Versace, double the size as the midsize one, but only a $25 difference. So worth it. Love Macys! read more

Macy's in DOCO is closing its doors this month. Everything is being liquidated, including the furniture and fixtures. With "everything must go ", Sims for sale are separated and very organized. Some items are 70% off while some are 60% off. I imagine that the discounts will be greater in the last week. You have items from clothes and plenty of kitchen items as well as furniture toys, make up and fragrances the store still validates for Macys parking and the city parking as well. It's really sad to see the store close since I've been shopping here for over 50 years. read more

I've been to this Macy's several times when I used to work in downtown. This location doesn't have a big variety of clothing, but does the job. There's always sales here which is nice. One issue that I have with this location is that I've been here several times, and I don't believe there's been a time where the workers greeted me or ask if I needed help finding anything. The service here is terrible. I feel like this location needs a remodel and needs new management if they want to survive in this economy. I came to Macy's to get a new suit for an event. I remember back in the day they always had a great suit department and salesmen to help you. Well to day was a different story. We parked in their downstairs parking and found a spot near the elevator. As we exited the elevator we went walking the 1st floor where the Men s department was. As we were walking I saw a homeless lady by the mirror around the corner. She was talking to herself and kind of loudly. She was on the ground and rolling around. It was a sight I didn't have to see. Her butt crack was totally showing. Oh my. We just didn't want to see it so we walked on. The suit department was all the way in the back corner. Not as big as it use to be and lots of empty spaces with no product. Most of the suits were all slim cut or fit which I am not. Noe of the suits fit me. I was totally disappointed. Macy's in Downtown Commons (DOCO) Sacramento This was my first time shopping inside this Macy's location in DoCo in Sacramento. There are a total of three floors of shopping pleasure. My daughter and I shopped here for toys because we wanted to participate in the annual toy drive sponsored by the Kings and Les Schwab at the Kings vs. Nuggets game that night. The store was clean and merchandise were easy to find especially for the brand I was looking for. Good customer service. There were a lot of sale items. I guess I haven't visited a Macy's in a while. This was the first time I found out about Macy's Backstage. We don't have this in Roseville and I wonder if it's only in select Macy's stores. This one in DoCo is on the 3rd level by the restrooms. Speaking of restrooms. The women's restroom was spacious and clean and the privacy bathroom stalls are nice. It's like your own bathroom with a sink inside the stall. On the basement level, you will find a parking lot that doesn't cost you, as long as you validate within the store. Fairly clean store. 3 levels. Mens, Shoes, jewelry and beauty can be found on the 1st floor. Women's and Juniors can be found on the second floor. Home + Furniture and Kids/Babies can be found in the 3rd floor. I visited Macy's for the "Last Call" department. What's Last Call you ask? Pieces can be 60-80% the original price. Only caveat is that because these specific pieces are in such a sale price, they are final sale and cannot be returned. If you take the time to look you can find pieces $4, $12, $19. This store in its historic location downtown does little to nothing to make for a pleasant shopping experience if a woman is looking for something to wear. The 2nd floor is down to one dressing room so in the interest of efficiency I hiked to the dressing room with as much as I could carry each time - 4 times. The clearance racks are not sorted by size, nor like merchandise such as tops vs bottoms vs dresses. It's as if the racks placed from the dressing rooms were just carted to the floor. It is overwhelming and I gave up due to frustration and exhaustion. Forget about trying to find any help - there were only 2 cashiers on the whole floor. This review is mainly for their small section for Toys R Us. It shouldn't have been a small section, it could've been a whole floor. For nostalgia, it was great to see Geoffrey the Giraffe in some shape or form but the Toys R Us experience isn't the same here. I remember going to Toys R Us during the holiday shopping season when I was a kid to browse the enormous selection of action figures or Pokemon cards. They also had the video game section where I could play stuff like Mario Kart on the N64. As a memory my parents would let me get one toy per year at the toy store. My favorite toy might have been the Ghostbusters Firehouse. At the "revival of Toys R Us" at Macys, there was a small selection of toys, boardgames and children's books. All of these items were expensive too! Toys R Us was always fun to go to but this "toy store" is nothing but boring. It was very unimpressive. Not to mention it didn't look like anyone was working in this area or any other part of the store. If you are looking to do some shopping do it online or go elsewhere. It's been a long time since I have shopped at this Macy's, mainly because I don't enjoy driving the congested downtown scene. This time, my sister was driving, so of course, I was excited to shop here! The parking garage was pretty easy to maneuver through and we arrived at a slow time of the day and in the middle of the week. As we entered the store, I was immediately impressed at how clean, spacious and well organized everything was on display. In the past, I have always considered Macy's as more of a high end, expensive store. But even though, some items may be considered pricey, they often have pretty good sales racks, that at least, are more in my price range. I really wasn't expecting to make a purchase and just enjoyed wandering around the store. But to my surprise, I found several articles of clothing that I just couldn't leave without. I got three comfy and pretty T-shirts and a pair of pants. I usually have a hard time finding pants to fit me because I'm short, have large thighs, cankles, and a small waist. I was pleasantly surprised to find something I could actually fit into that wasn't stretchy! My sister found some toys in the impressive "Toys R Us" section for her granddaughter's birthday party. We also found a nice, heavy duty sport's watch for her husband which happened to be on sale also. To sum up my experience, I enjoyed my shopping excursion and hope that I can venture this way a little more often again! read more

I'm shopping in the downtown Macy's back in the day when they are part of the Downtown Plaza. They were keeping one of the Macy's here when Downtown Plaza was to disassemble and replaced by Downtown Commons (DOCO) and Golden 1 Center. I think DOCO Macy's has never been remodeled for at least 10+ years, if not longer. Everything inside looks like I'm walked into a store in the 90s. They have even turned part of the store into a Macy's Backstage. I don't know if Macy's will hold on to this store or not. But the store is due to a much-needed remodeling if they want to keep this location! read more

Had three different people searching for the order that was in store in stock item. The store system told them where the order was staged and they still couldn't find it. After 45mins The incompetent people didn't have sense to just give me the exact item out of the jewelry case and let me go on my way. So I left the store without my order. What is even more dumb unlike other retailer apps that let you order online to pick up in store, the app doesn't allow you to cancel the order. Downtown Macy's has just stolen me from the Arden Mall store! We moved across town, closer to K St. and decided to try that location, although Arden has been my go to for almost 20 years. We needed to make an online return and I wasn't sure if the downtown location accepted returns. I called to find out and was greeted by a very nice lady who told me yes, and where to go. We arrived at the store and met Gisel, who processed our return in what feels like less than a minute. Gisel shared about the upcoming Friend's and Family (I hope I got that right!) sale on 10/23, and informed us about the (validated) parking options, which I was elated about (we parked on the street this trip). We wanted to see the linen options in store and I was surprised at the variety! I was looking for a particular brand when we encountered Sharon, who showed us where to find it. Sharon asked if we needed our parking validated and shared about the upcoming sale. We then headed back downstairs to leave the store...until I saw the Bleu de Chanel advertisement. I didn't even know Chanel had a men's line! Lilia helped us with the scent strength options; fortunately hubby was with me so I didn't have to guess which one he'd like most. I've never owned any Chanel myself and planned to explore next time but Lilia must have been in my head and offered to show us the Chanel women's line, while also asking about parking validation needs and sharing the upcoming sale. Lastly we were heading to lunch and were wandering to find the restroom. Kainoa kindly said hello on our way out, so we asked him where the restroom was. And she goes let me go get the keys, very rudely and walked away... so I just told my mom I'm just gonna go somewhere else to get it because I didn't like how they were treating us. On June 15th 2024, I went to this Macy's location to shop and show one of my relatives, who just arrived to the U.S., around. I asked the parking lot clerk if parking would be waived if I shop here. He said yes as long as Macy's validates the parking ticket. We browsed around and decided to buy some food in the preztel store inside Macy's. Macy's validated my parking ticket with a stamp and we headed downstairs. Once we got to the parking stall, I gave the clerk the validated ticket but he/she gave me a hard time and asking for a macy's receipt. I told him I only bought the some food but Macy's did validate the ticket, which is what he/she needed. They/them said no that's not valid and needed a receipt. We argued a little bit and he started to waste my time so I decided to go upstairs to ask for assistance. Store manager asked me to go downstairs to resolve the issue and man they for sure wasting my time at this point so I just bought a lipstick to get out. Got no time to waste because I need to take my relative to other places. The whole experience was terrible especially the parking clerk. Totally wasting my time and ruined my day. My whole family wasted 1 whole hour because of this. DEFINITELY WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN!!! And I definitely recommend everyone not to. read more

No time on the ticket about their hours and shit either. Had to book a motel out here cause we live in Richmond and can't get out car until 11am tomorrow. Such a fucking inconvenience! I came to grab a new suit for a friend's wedding and I didn't realize they have personal a stylist here. There's a special section within the mens formal wear, that the stylist helps you. She helped us with blazer, pant, and shirt measurements and gave recommendations as we tried to find the right fit and style. She was very attentive to our group and made sure all our questions were answered. She provided exceptional customer service. She even helped us pick out some shoes, belts and ties. I went to the makeup section to look. There were 0 tools to try on anything but the makeup was all open, like a Sephora or Ulta. Lots of mirrors which makes me think that they were meant to be used. Ok...so I looked around. Then, this random store clerk comes around and asked if I needed anything. I asked if I could try on a mascara. She told me that she had no spoolies for me and that she doesn't recommend that I try on anything bc people put their hands in it. WTF?? Why even have this out to try on if this is the kind of message you'd send? Then, she walked away in a very rude manner. And, this is why people go to Sephora and Ulta instead there. This review is for the makeup counter at DOCO. There are two employees that I would like to spotlight. Lanette and Regina. Thank you to both for making a fun day at the mall horrible. Your lack of customer service and disregard for any human compassion was nicely shown. Details: I took my mother to the Makeup counter because she needed to get some face toner. I understand every company is shorted staff. That's not the issue here. My mother wait and waited and waited some more. Lanette asked if she needed help and she stated yes but I guess Lanette heard something else. Lanette proceeded to ignore my mother. I spoke up and asked if she was going to assist her? She stated she is off the clock and thought she didn't need help. But she will have Regina assist after she is done with her client. I was so disgusted with her actions that I sought assistance from someone else. Culture awareness training is needed for these staff members. No empathy or compassion. No apology. Nothing. Cons: A big cavernous mall anchor- with nothing nearby. Side note: WHY did the Westfield Shopping Center close downtown? That was a mall. Probably so the Convention center could be built, another cavernous warehouse. Pros: (leaving blank until I can think of some) I always feel sad shopping in Sacramento's malls, something I don't do very often. I'll slip into Roseville's Galleria if I want a local mall experience a couple times a year but I actually just save my mall shopping for LA which birthed, tended, cultivates, and celebrates malls, (and fashion, style, glamour). Amazingly, people actually spend time and money in shopping centers that are beautiful, fun, and functional. Paging: Mayor Steinberg. However, sometimes I do brave the mall when I need to do check out merchandise in person, and today I went to the Macy's furniture store w/in the mega-Macy's in the DOCO. Oof. Bad move. Hungry commissioned salespeople, a trek to and up three floors, ugly displays in clothes and all else, and one chair I liked...available in... June. Pretty sure it's not backordered, you're MAKING it in China and it will be held over in customs due to coronavirus if any of us are still alive in June.
