Terrible return policy. Received a gift for Christmas and won't allow me to do even exchange for a different size.

I recieved a piece of clothing that I had ordered online that I did not like. The fabric was cheap and the zipper got stuck. I didn't recieve and email or invoice in the package. The order didn't upload to my account so I couldn't find it to start a return. I attempted to email customer service and heard nothing! I finally realized there was a chat option, they were less than useful. Because it had been more than 30 days, they refused to start the return even though it was their lack of communication and customer service that delayed the return. read more

Normally, I don't have a problem with Macy's but today 6 days before Christmas I DO!! I ordered my husband on line Jeans and slippers for Christmas and due to some STUPID billing issue they just up and cancelled my order without even calling me OR ANYTHING!!! I called and got transferred to a department called consumer support and of course I had to speak to someone with A FOREIGN ACCENT! He proceeded to have me call my bank, which is Bank of America, and it is EXCEEDINGLY hard to get a hold of a human being. We tried two different numbers and it didn't work! The next thing I know I'm telling him I just wanted to speak to a supervisor because I wanted my money back right then and there! I mean it's unfair! I didn't get to say as to having my order canceled! I wanted my money back right away! Well, when I finally got a hold of a supervisor, he basically gave me the shaft and told me I gotta wait 7 to 10 business days to get my money back so they basically stole from me! What do you think would happen if I "borrowed" money out of their registers and told them THEY had to wait 7 to 10 business days to get THEIR MONEY back! They'd be calling the cops on me! Either way, it's unfair and I don't have that kind of money to just throw away. I'm not rich! Thanks to this HORRIBLE economy I'm living from paycheck to paycheck and barely even surviving!!! It just makes me feel like you can never buy anything online ever again! They end up screwing you whether you like it or not! I get it's almost Christmas but Jesus they could've called me before they just canceled it! They have my updated telephone number, but they just canceled it on me!! It's completely UNFAIR! THEY could've at least offered me something to make up for it, but I basically get a screw you and tough titties said the kitties! I don't think I'm gonna shop there ever again! This store is an utter disaster. The same person that works the woman's intimate department is supposed to also work the bedding and kitchen department. Short staffed is not even the way to describe this place. I have witnessed this two times in less than a month. On my recent visit to the store my daughter was looking for a blanket. Nobody was around to help us and when we saw a display we liked we had to walk around looking for a sales associate. BINGO!! We found one. She told us we would have to order one as they didn't have the color/size in the store. She walked us to the antiquated computer system and started to punch in numbers. She then asked me to walk behind the counter as she couldn't see the screen. I told her what to select by pointing, etc and when she said "there it is!!" I told her that was not the color. We were looking at a silverish grey on the floor and the computer showed it as charcoal. The sales ladies reply, "don't worry about the color on the screen, it is always wrong!?!" Seriously? Escalator has been broken for weeks going DOWN. Why can't they fix this? I really don't like this store and wish they could have some respect for the building and keep it in working order or close the store and call it a loss. read more

They don't carry free people brand anymore unfortunately nothing to buy anymore from macys that is interesting in New Hampshire other than fragrances and skin care products but ulta has a better selection. Bring back free people to your stores and I will come back. read more

On Oct.12, 2019 I shopped at Macy's for clothes to wear to a wake. After finding what I needed I went home to get ready and realized that the plastic security tag was still on the pants. I had to rush back to the store to have the tag taken off (no store alarm sounding walking out or going back in). In my rush to change into the new pants, I left the jeans I wore in the dressing room of the girls department. When I finally realized where my jeans were I called the store to see if they have a lost and found. Indeed they do I was told. However no one answered the phone. I'm not a fan of reviews but maybe it will stop anyone else from having this problem. And not having my jeans back does not make me a happy person. My boyfriend and I just moved into a new house. We were excited to buy new furniture and found a beautiful couch at Macy's. We tried ordering online several times, each time our order was immediately cancelled. No reason was given, other than our information may be wrong - it was not wrong any of those times. Luckily we got refunds after several days. Finally we went to the store to try to buy the couch from an associate there. Our associate did not speak English well, ordered us the wrong couch and entered our email wrong after making several mistakes on the computer. She did confirm our correct information once, lost it, and did not confirm with us after re entering it. Surprise, surprise we got the wrong couch delivered - half of what we ordered, on the wrong side, in the wrong color. Delivery refused to take it back with them. We called customer service immediately. They told us the couch that had been ordered for us was exactly what we were describing and a new couch, supposedly the correct one, was scheduled to be delivered soon thereafter with them assuring us they would take the wrong couch out with them then. Delivery showed up with the SAME wrong couch! We still have the wrong couch with us, as they couldn't take both out with them. We called again today and they told us that the store associate screwed up our order in the first place, that what was delivered was in fact our order, and that they will contact us again in 3-5 business days to schedule a pickup time to remove the couch we never wanted and then give us a refund. This is NOT what the last customer service rep told us! I am EXTREMELY disappointed with our service which has been rude, untimely, and incorrect throughout this whole ordeal. I will NEVER shop at Macy's again and recommend you steer clear as well! read more

So, you'd think pretty much all Macy's are the same, right? M and I always did... it's just a mall anchor store, lower end than Nordstrom, higher end than Dillards. I pretty much avoid Macy's at all costs because the only one we have in NYC is the tourist-ridden, rude, disorganized, understaffed, fire hazard of a location in Herald Square. We were looking for suits for our groomsmen while visiting NH and saw a nice one on the Macy's website. We found the one in the Mall of New Hampshire and went over the next day. We headed straight for the men's suits section and started digging around for our particular suit. In New York, it's like Call of the Wild-- every man for himself. But after pulling down some jackets that weren't even close to what we were looking for, a nice gentleman came over and calmly asked if he could help us. Uhh, are we still in Macy's? We described the suit and he led us to the one remaining set left in the store. He knew exactly what it was and everything about it. We talked to him for awhile about how we wanted light gray suits and this was the only one we could find, and he explained that if we came back in a month we would have much better luck. So now not only did this man greet us and show us exactly what we were looking for, but he was risking his commission on the sale to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. He also told us all the ways we could save money-- by signing up for a Macy's card when you buy, and shopping on certain weekends when cardholders get extra discounts. I already kind of knew that, but he seemed to really care about us getting the best prices on the suits. When I spoke to someone else about how impressed we were, she knew exactly the salesman we were talking about and agreed that he was the best (and that she had actually gotten her groom's suit from him) Thanks to this Macy's, I am no longer a mall snob. I will definitely be back to give that man (I wish I could remember his name!) our sales in the future. read more

Went in last night to purchase a wallet for my daughter for Christmas. After wandering the area for a while with no one around for assistance, I asked someone to help me. They found Judy for me. I inquired about some wallets in a case, explaining that I was looking to spend around $100, she replied in a condescending way that none of the wallets in this case were $100. ( there were many price ranges some as low as $40) I proceeded to look and ended up not purchasing at Macy's . It would have been very helpful if she had just done her job and assisted me in finding a wallet for my daughter. She really seemed very put out, and I ended up purchasing the $100 wallet at another establishment. Obviously the employees need further training in customer service. I won't be back. read more

This Macy's deviates from the norm just enough to be interesting to me. I was surprised to walk into a furniture department when entering from the outside. They actually had employees allowed to wear other than black! The men's department was large and not high-end. I saw quite a few good deals on clothes. The cosmetics department on the first floor was also large and not pretentious at all. I was only "pursued" by 1 spritzer which is about half a dozen fewer than the last Macy's I visited. I wish the Macy's in my local mall were more like this one. read more

This is a good store. That's why recently I have been so surprised by how light the customer traffic has been. You go in at virtually any time and there is practically no one shopping. The future if this store - the mall - and all large clothing stores is questionable. Due to the economy - people are looking for deals. The prices here are not cheap - but they are fair. Due to the internet - people are simply shopping on-line. I think Macys needs to make some changes to all of their stores before it's too late. First, they need sales people. There are virtually no employees anywhere - it's like a ghost town. Home Depot was like this a few years ago and they were on the verge of bankruptcy. But, they brought in more service people and they are doing better. Macys needs a motivator to make people purchase. Second, they need better price points. People can find the best deals on the internet and have it shipped to them. So, why would they go out of their way to drive all the way to the Mall to pay more? I don't want to paw through racks of clothing, it makes me feel like I'm shopping at a thrift store. I did not find a thing so opted for a gift from the Clinique counter. No one there! I took my daughter to the Lancôme counter to have her make-up done for prom. Maureen and Taylor were beyond amazing. They made her so happy and they did an incredible job. Maureen is a true artist. Taylor went above and beyond. And did you know this service is free of charge? I tried to give them a tip, but apparently it is against the rules. Macy's at Mall of New Hampshire is disgusting. Filthy dirty, unorganized, not maintained, pitiful merchandise selections and you must go on a hunt to find someone to let you into fitting room or to cash out. I admittedly don't trade much with Macy's anymore because it is just so uninteresting and boring in the store but would shop online sometime. NEVER AGAIN will I give Macy's any of my money in order to shop online now you MUST install their ap on your devices to access their website. I don't want to put their ap on my devices or create a mandatory costumer profile. When I called customer service I was told if I didn't want to install the ap my only other option was to shop in their physical stores. No wonder they are closing 140 stores in 2016 alone. I went to Macy's at the Mall of NH yesterday and was very disappointed. The store was very dirty and had clothing thrown around everywhere in the ladies department. It was a real mess! Even the dressing room was dirty looking with chipped paint, grubby walls and lots of clothing in every stall that should have been put away. They were very very understaffed. The poor lady trying to handle people checking out did a great job but can't be expected to be everywhere. It should be closed and updated asap. read more

Well, this is one heck of a Macy's, I just wrote a review for JCPenney, and the experience as incredibly similar, therefore... Albeit Macy's gets four stars because of ease of shopping experience. :) They sell shirts, pants, undies, socks, sweaters, turtlenecks, cardigans, corduroy pants, tank tops. I just bought a polo and it was dead on a Tuesday night when I went in and the help wasn't particularly helpful and couldn't show me where they place the polos or answer if there was a clearance rack. Unlike JCPenney, this store had a full section dedicated to polos to my surprise, and of all different styles and prices, this was most pleasing to me as it mad my experience far better than I could've imagined. However, as I decided it was time to leave, I found an open checkout counter that you can never really tell if it is a checkout counter because they all say customer service and it always seems as though someone is always asking for a price check or returning something so no matter how busy it is, you always know you're going to spend the same amount of time waiting to check out, almost a literal eternity. Macy's, unlike McKohl's, changes their prices at 5am. Not when a consumer is out getting more money, to buy the boots. Then said boots, went up $40 at McKohl's, middle of the day! McKohl's McManagement has no business education. Not only did I not buy the boots, but then returned $88 worth of merchandise. Two lost sales!! Then, a lost customer, forever. Have you noticed too? McKohl's tries to decorate their store for Christmas, like Macy's does. McKohl's only wishes that they could be Macy's. McKohl's needs to step up customer service, and really Kohl's is the McDonald's of department stores. Macy's employees are polite and go out of their way for you. Macy's is transparent and wants your business. Thank you Macy's, for your example to "other" retail stores. One of Kohl's employees: "I was on break" and, "they don't pay me enough" .. We were wondering around the mall last night, went into Macy's to take a look came across their toy section. My daughter (20 months) wanted to look at and play with them, so we let her. She brought a ball over to where I was and walked back to where she'd gotten it cause my husband was there, I picked it up and tossed back to him for him to put up....I missed. It was a terrible toss, it landed on the floor behind him, he picked it up and put it up. Some older associate came out of no where and just started staring at us, after a couple mins of this I tell my husband and daughter let's go. She continues to watch us walk away, as if we were kids doing something wrong. It's not like there was anything breakable around where we were, or we were being rowdy or obnoxious.....I simply tossed my husband a ball to put up and missed. I was never a big fan of this Macy's, but I can confidently say I will never return. read more

I recently took my 90 year old grandmother to Macy's. We had the pleasure of meeting Crystal and Jenn who were extremely pleasant and helpful to my grandmother. Unfortunately, we had to interact with Lyvia for our whole transaction. She was rude to my grandmother and inpatient. I am extremely disappointed in her treatment of my grandmother at the jewelry department. Throughout our whole ordeal she was continuously dismissive and acted as if she were better than everyone and knew better. Do not work in a department store if you do not have the patience, kindness, or willingness to help. read more

The 2 women who work at the makeup counter(one has insanely frizzy hair and the other wears WAYYYY too much makeup) are INCREDIBLY RUDE. They referred to me as "cheap" when asking for a discount I could not provide. I would never shop or buy anything from them strictly because of the way they treat other people. I think it is awful they work in an area that requires customer service because they have NONE. I hope this location knows these women do nothing for the business and that when they are rude and walking around the mall(like they constantly do) they are wearing their name tags while doing it. I work at the mall and will not be going into this Macy's if I see them. read more

NEVER EVER EVER going to order furniture from this store again! AVOID! I will be sure everyone I know, knows not to order furniture from here again. We ordered expensive furniture and spent $200 on delivery services. We were promised a whole list of services including vacuuming and moving other furniture around. We have this proof in our email. Upon arrival these movers claimed they "could not carry the furniture" up our stairs. Meanwhile Ashley furniture had successfully done this just weeks before with BIGGER furniture than this set. So we knew they were just lying to us. They were lazy or crunched for time and did not want to finish the job. My fiance tried to help them by having them come through the back door but they still refused. They delivered half our furniture and while doing so, messed with our security camera so it could not monitor them. Then when my fiance told them to at least leave the furniture behind, they called him crazy, yelled at him and drove off with the rest of our expensive furniture STILL IN THE TRUCK! They literally couldve left it there with us at the very least but they drove off with our furniture, confiscating this new property of ours from us. While trying to resolve this issue, Macy's was no help and did not give us any information about them. My fiance took off work for this delivery and due to the laziness and unprofessionalism of this company, we now have to wait another week and take off more work to receive our furniture. The furniture that had already arrived at our house that they refused to let us keep. We only got 10% off our order for a large problem. NEVER COMING BACK! I wouldnt give this one star if I could. read more

I made the mistake of ordering an item on-line to be picked up at the store. Before I went to Macy's to pick up the order, I attempted to call the store to determine where the pick up area was located. After MULTIPLE transfers to offices where no one answered the phone, I was transferred to a customer service rep who informed me it was located "in the mall", I'm not kidding. I went to the store to try to locate the area. A salesclerk pointed me in the correct direction, unfortunately, my order had not arrived yet. (I missed the part in the email where it said it would take 5-8 days-seriously??). Knowing I was not going to receive the item in time for the needed event, I asked to cancel the order. Nope, can't cancel unless the item has arrived. So after the item arrived ( it was already a charge on my Macy's account) I attempted to cancel it by phone. I've currently been on hold for 9 minutes and 48 seconds trying to speak to someone at the online pick up desk. This is the worse customer service I have received in a very long time. Macy's, you have seen my last order, unfortunately, it appears, I will have to go back into the store to cancel the order because there is no other way to cancel. Unbelievable. P.S. I was looking around in the department and this worker came to me and asked if I needed any assistance. I told her it would be a great help. She helped me search for special little outfits that I wanted for them. I am so appreciative of her help that I wanted to let you know that this woman is a real asset to your store. I shop at macys a lot-usually the one in Bedford but this time we went to the Manchester location at the mall. My sister and I (both in our late 20's, married, well dressed and very well presented) went shopping because we both needed to buy new bedding for house guest that we both had visiting in the near future. NO ONE even said hello to us and the mangers were even doing their walk around the floor in the bedding area at the time. The next associate in our area kept staring at us and following us around as if we were going to steal--still never a hello or anything. It made us feel very uncomfortable because to be quite honest we have never experienced that before. Both of us had our hands filled with sheets, pillows, quilts etc waiting at the cashwrap (for the same associate who thought we were stealing to ring us up--which I didn't even want her helping us we were so upset but there was no one else around). Finally the managers who were standing in the area told us to go to another cashwrap in kitchen electrics and they found an associate to help us. They only acknowledged us when they wanted our money. They grabbed an associate from the men's section to help us and she was so pleasant. She wasn't wearing a name tag that we could see so I can't mention her by name--but she was a very nice woman of Indian descent. Another associate came over named Karen and kept trying to push her out of "her section" and ring us up instead . The associate explained "oh they are together so I will just ring them both up" after finishing up with my sisters transaction the EXTREMELY RUDE Karen kept trying to move me to another area to ring me up. She kept rolling her eyes, tapping her feet and pacing back and forth at the woman helping us and she kept huffing and puffing because the associate wanted to finish up with us---which was the right thing to do and to be quite honest she was so nice that's what we preferred. Karen even went over and apologized to my sister about the other associate and my sister kept explaining "no it's ok". Karen should have been apologizing for her own behavior and demeanor towards the other associate and us. We were EXTREMELY uncomfortable because it went on for 15 minutes! We were so shocked we tried to find the group of managers to put in a complaint but were unable to find them. I would never receive help from Karen and would refuse her service--she was so unprofessional, rude and came across borderline prejudice towards the other associate--our opinion, might not be true but it's how it came across. Both my sister and I will never receive help from Karen and we would look for the other associate for help next time. read more
