I want to start off this review by saying that I was super nervous to get a Brazilian. My previous experience at the European Wax Center in Davis left me horrified. I was referred to this place by one of my friends and the 5 star reviews drew me in. I booked an appointment with Melissa Anne for 5:00 PM. I came in and was promptly greeted by her and brought into her waxing room. The main building is a salon, but she does have a waxing set-up in the back room. The first thing I wanted to observe is the cleanliness of the room, bed, supplies, etc. The space was very, very clean; which was a relief to me. Melissa is the sweetest girl ever. She asked a lot of questions to get to know the type of experiences I have had with previous waxing sessions and she gave a lot of tips on how to prepare before waxing and the aftercare. Also first timers get a free post-waxing kit. The Brazilian was wayyy less painful than it was at my previous experiences with EWC. Also, she taught me this breathing technique that definitely helped with mentally preparing myself for each pull lol! She also was sure to massage the area right after to ease the pain and she assured me that if she was applying too much pressure to let her know. She also gave me her cellphone number to text her if I had any questions when I had left and she wouldn't let me leave a tip. It was really apparent that Melissa genuinely cares for her cilents. Melissa is my now go to girl!!! She is so friendly, approachable and knowledgeable about waxing. I was looking for a new waxer since I was unhappy with my last waxer. It's always hard to find someone new to do your Brazilian wax, but OMG Melissa is your girl! She is so personable from the get-go, helping relieve all the nerves. Before the initial wax, she gives you a run through and provides a scrub, a wash and some wipes to help keep maintenance down there. After that, she will go over some breathing methods before the initial waxing. Onto the waxing part--- easy breazy. I was anxiously waiting for some type of pain, but as she pulled off the wax it felt like nothing!! The whole waxing process probably took about only 10 minutes! First I would like to say ALL these 5 star reviews are TRUE!! Melissa is awesome! I found her on yelp and figured I'd give her a try since she does have 5 stars and everyone was praising her waxing skills. I love the ease of booking online, I knew she must be great because you really need to book in advanced because she books quickly. Anyway, I got my eyebrows and a Brazilian done by Melissa and I couldn't be more happy. I have found my go to girl forreal. For my eyebrows: Eyebrows are a very sensitive thing you always want to make sure those are looking great because I mean, everyone looks at your face. I wanted to go to a new person and see if someone can shape it to the way I liked and I LOVE how Melissa shaped my eyebrows. I asked for an arch and she slowly went through the process and even showed me how she was going to do it before she actually shaped my brows. You can say I totally am in love with my brows. My Brazilian: I had a person I went to regularly until I had my first baby and because shes located 20minutes away its hard to find someone to watch my baby while I went to go clean up so I decided to look for someone close by and Macs Strips/Melissa is basically 5minutes away from my place. I read so many awesome reviews I decided to try her out and I am very happy I did. Like all the other reviews Melissa is just soooo friendly,I just met her but I feel like we've been friends forever. She made me feel so comfortable, I told her I hadnt gotten cleaned up for about 2.5months so I was in need of a clean up and to be gentle. I'm pregnant again so I'm much more sensitive down there then if I weren't but Melissa was great. I didn't feel a thing to be honest, her breathing technique helped a lot and before I knew it she told me she was done. Melissa's an eyebrow GOD! I've tried many eyebrow places like Benefit Beauty Bar and those nail salons that provide really cheap eyebrow waxing services and they messed up my eyebrows pretty bad. HANDS DOWN THE BEST WAXER I HAVE EVER BEEN TO!!!! And this girl gets around.... Melissa is the best. And I do mean. THE. BEST. I have been to so many waxers in the area and Melissa knows her stuff. She took me from being a "every-so-often-when-I-go-on-vacation-braxzilian-waxer" to a religious waxer every couple of months. I ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS got unsightly ingrowns. Like BAD. TMI - You know those Birthday Cake Pops at Starbucks, pink with a ton of white sprinkles? That was a very close likeness to my lady parts the day after a wax from any other waxer!!! LMAO... I thought it was my issue and I had awful skin. Not so. After going to Melissa, she taught me how to prep my skin before a wax and how to treat it afterwards. I was referred to Mac's Strips by a co-worker who knows Melissa well. She didn't disappoint: she was as good as it gets. I have been getting waxed now for 20 years, and in all of that time, I have never had a detailed discussion about my skin needs and after care.
