Not too happy about this one. I recently moved to Macon and am on the hunt for a new nail salon. Macon Nail & Tan definitely needs an update, both in services and in decor. I got a gel manicure and pedicure during my visit. The manicurist did not allow my prior gel polish to soak off well at all. Instead, she used the electric buffing machine to remove the rest of my gel polish -- a big "no no" as this makes the nails thin and brittle over time. Second, she did not clean my cuticles well, nor did she give them any shape or form. The most irritating part is that she globed tons of gel polish on my nails. There is absolutely no natural shape or form to the polish. In my opinion, the concept of gel polish is a NATURAL looking polish job that lasts longer than regular polish. My nails look double their actual size due to the excessive layers of gel polish. My pedicure was the least relaxing one I've ever had in my life. The pedicurist was so rough and careless when filing my nails and scrubbing my heels that I'm surprised I'm not severely cut and bruised. I asked her if she was going to cut my cuticles as she was starting to massage my legs (usually the last step before polish) and she shoo'd me away saying "ok ok ok later!" Her response and demeanor was extremely rude and off putting to me. The place could also use a good scrubbing. The gel light machine was covered in globs and globs of polish. It was so disgusting that I didn't allow my hand to touch the surface when I put it in to dry the gel polish. The manicure, pedicure and sink stations were all dirty as well. Somehow this salon has received rave reviews. So, I'm not sure if I just got the rotten apples of the salon or if this is the standard in the area. Either way, there should be no rotten apples in the first place and first impressions are lasting impressions. I will not be visiting again. read more

Had a great experience ! I didn't get the nail techs name but we set at station #1. He was very attentive and chatty first thing in the morning. I loved it. I got s&s nails (36$)and they are perfect. Nice and smooth. He took his time and he was done no time at all. I'll be back for sure. read more

Friendly staff, great service! Even though I came 45 mins before closing and left after they were closed to finish drying my nails (sorry again), they still gave me a full and relaxing mani and pedi. They did an amazing job massaging my feet and calves, and I love that the lady took the time to massage every finger and joint on my hand and forearms. When it came close to closing time (they massaged and lathered me for a good minute), they still took their time and care polishing my nails. A great place to check out in Macon. read more

I have always enjoyed the services here, but my recent visit has me wondering about the training and qualifications of the technicians. Again, have always liked this place, but my last visit left me with bandaids on my feet and hands that required a complete redo - at a different salon. Are they filling gaps with unqualified people? Did I catch them on a bad day? Don't know, but I do know I paid the same for the inept service as I have for more expert work. read more

I left there for a dr appt for which I was late. It was pouring rain and the only shoes I had were closed-toed. I truly thought my toes were dry. They weren't and two messed up. Not only was I upset from some bad news at my dr appt but I'm sitting there on a return visit to correct the two toes I messed up. I apologized profusely by the way upon asking for help in the matter. As I was sitting there I felt a panic attack coming and heart beating too fast and sweating. I took the mask off to fan my face for a second and the Asian male owner yelled at me to put it back on. Omg. Omg. Are you kidding me? I will never go back there again. Ever. 63 year old woman being yelled at by a young Asian male? I don't think so!! So angry!!!! read more

Two bad experiences with service. I was cut and bleeding and still paid full price. My gel nails chipped within a week.

They used to be my favorite but recently there is always a 30+ minute wait, even with an appt. I waited 40 minutes for an acrylic fill in because all they do is push getting SNS. When I got SNS I was happy at this salon but do not go here for acrylics. Pedicures are great. Beware of wait times, try to call ahead. read more

I went to Macon Nail and Tan because it had two really great reviews on Yelp, but I had a terrible experience at this nail salon. First, the place is pretty tiny, so it feels cramped, and they don't have a very good selection of polish. The employees had the door open, so insects were flying around inside. Even though there was only one other customer, I had to wait over 20 minutes before my pedicure. I didn't mind that, since I was already sitting in the massage chair. But, instead of playing relaxing music, they were playing the radio pretty loudly, and it's kind of hard to zone out when ads for local businesses are blaring. The worst part, though, was that the man doing my pedicure SLICED MY BIG TOE with one of the tools he was using, and even though it was obviously an accident, it hurt so much! And it bled for at least ten minutes. He kept apologizing and nervously laughing and spraying my toe with alcohol, which burned. Then, he tried to get me to put my foot back into the water while it was still bleeding. All I could think was that the cut would get infected. A pedicure should be relaxing -- I went there to pamper myself -- but instead, I was in pain and anxious for the majority of the experience. And to top it all off? THEY STILL CHARGED ME for the pedicure. read more

I've been here a few times, prior experiences were good. Hence, I returned. They always seem to be pretty busy, so I've called ahead of time to make appointments. I made an appt this time, arrived and was told to take a seat. Ok, no big deal. After nearly half an hour, I reached my waiting limit and got up to leave. No one stopped me to ask why, or frankly probably even notice, I was leaving. Not the kind of customer service I'd ever recommend. I drove to another nearby nail salon and would suggest doing the same to "treat yo-self" until they're able to manage the crowds differently. The atmosphere of this salon was nice, but they don't seem like they have enough employees to handle a crowd on the weekend. I went in on a Saturday with my husband to get a pedicure and we were seen to quickly. As soon as more customers came in and had to wait the employees working on my husband and I began rushing which resulted in a very disappoint pedicure overall. Usually I'm recommending people to come to this nail salon, and I definitely considered myself a regular prior to COVID-19, but after my most recent visit, I'm on the hunt for a new nail place. Had an appointment scheduled for a set time for a basic pedicure, waited a whole 40 minutes after being rushed to pick out a color. Then, the nail tech obviously rushed another customer out the door so she could begin my service. I asked for no heel scrub, was told it was fine, constantly kept saying no or please be careful as the tech rushed thru my pedicure. In the middle, the other client she was working on previously had an issue, tech left me to soak for a whole 15 minutes, came back, cut my cuticles too short, made the side of my toe bleed, and then put on polish. Almost as soon as she had put on a top coat, I was rushed out of the salon chair and sent to the drying table up front. Altogether, the nail tech spent 19 minutes on my entire service. (Paid attention because it was an uncomfortable atmosphere the moment I walked in the door). It took another 20 minutes for me to get someone up at the front desk so I could pay and leave. Not entirely sure why I had such a bad experience, as I'd always had great experiences before and had been coming to this nail salon for years. Writing all this to say, beware and be vocal. This nail salon is amazing. Annie and Tony, the owners, are extremely personable and always make sure you're comfortable and taken care of. Before moving to NC, I went to this place for about 5 years, and even when I moved across town, I refused to go anywhere else but here. Their work is very high quality, and their prices are very competitive. I used to get acrylic nails and pedicures here, and I've never had anything negative to say about the work they did or the prices. I VERY highly recommend this place! read more

Terrible service. If you are interested in a quality pedi and relaxing experience, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE!!! Discussed my service with the receptionist and requested their highest level pedi for everyone in my party (4). Was told there would be a short wait, no problem. One of the party hadn't even been put in a chair when the first person was finished, which is a hassle but not a deal breaker. The level and quality of the pedi was extremely poor (20 minutes of service). The pedicurist assumed we wanted the cheapest package, so we basically got our nails painted for $25.00. No attention to cuticles, calluses, or massage. I usually go to Bamboo in WR which is fabulous but thought I would try something closer to home, HUGE MISTAKE! read more
