In the past few years I have been in the area Red Cup has always had a huge line at times going up…read morethe street. I have read the reviews and thought about trying them. After my visit I am just wondering what this is all about. Maybe just the drinks honestly. I don't know really and after my experience I am not sure I even want to go back. I stopped here to get some bagels to have for breakfast the next day. The bagels are not homemade, they are from NY which is not a problem. I was perfectly fine with that. The cream cheeses are on the homemade side. They tasted great honestly the ones we had. Where things went south for us is the male at the register taking my order. He basically told me I would be better off going to the Hannaford grocery in town for bagels and cream cheese, as I was placing my order. That kind of rubbed me the wrong way. As I am trying to give business to the locals. To imply for me go elsewhere was odd. When I was there there was not a long line or anything. So it was not like I was holding anyone up. I felt like maybe they did not want to scoop the cream cheeses into a cup. I do not know. But, it just left a bad feeling all together. From that point on I did not order any drinks or other food. I was just honestly done.

I don't have the exact hours but you might want to check because I've been there when they're closed. I do know they open at seven and on the weekend, you wanna get there early because they do sell out of things. All their pastries are killer. Today bought a blueberry muffin, a maple cinnamon roll and the special of the day, which I don't know the name of, but it was a biscuit with clotted cream and homemade raspberry jam made out of the owners garden. It was scrumptious. It is also a little store and you can buy all kinds of cute things in there, there is an area to eat both inside and outside, but I am only talking of three or four tables in each location. They also make coffee drinks and they also have croissants with eggs and bacon. Have not had one of those in years so I can't really comment on that. Anyway, well worth a little side trip to this darling bakery.

Every place has a story. It's nice when you meet someone willing to chat for a while. They have the best looking baked goods too!! I had the "dill bread" sandwich, described as scrambled eggs (2), avocado, crispy bacon, and white cheddar on homemade dill bread. How could I not? Homemade dill bread, you ask? This place is a haven for amazing baked goods, but since I didn't try those, you're going to have to go try for yourself. The dill bread was fresh and tasty, all I could ask for. The rest of the sandwich was exactly as described. The eggs were fluffy, but not dry. The bacon was lean and smoky, and crispy - just the way I like it. The combination was just right, and a filling lunch. As we were eating, they were bringing out more baked goods to the display counter, but we didn't indulge. Well worth a stop for breakfast or lunch.

Dumplings good, everything else exceptional. And we got the biggest yeasty cinnamon bun I've ever seen. Words cannot describe how decadent this was. OMG!!!! I've been coming to Boothbay for 30 years and never knew this place was there. If someone had not sent me would have thought just a bakery. It is that too. I have seen some negative reviews on service. Not fair. There is no table service. You stand at the counter till they have time to take your order. If you are eating there, they will deliver to your table. There is beautiful outside seating. And English is not their first language so patience may be required. And they are from a different culture and it to some that may translate as rude. That has not been my experience nor those lined up for their food or bakery products. A constant stream of takeout. If you like Asian food, funky place, this is it. One more thing. The order we had at most any other Asian restaurant in the area would have been double the cost. 2 entrees large portions, 2 apps and a desert for under$50 bucks!!!

I am not a doughnut person at all, but I always make an exception for apple fritters. So we bought one, and I want to emphasize the word "one" because it was sooooooo huge that it would've just been too much to have gotten more. It was enough for 3 to share, frankly. It was really large. The apple fritter was good, but I have to say, it wasn't my favorite. I've been spoiled by a place near our home (3,000 miles away) where the addition of a noticeable amount of cinnamon with huge apple chunks always steals my heart. Here, at least in the fritter we got, I didn't taste any cinnamon, and honestly, I couldn't taste any apple pieces either. Not sure what was going on. It still tasted good, but I felt like it wasn't well represented for what they claimed it to be. Again, it wasn't bad... it just wasn't great, either.

I came again at 1pm and the guy behind the counter looked at me and said, "Welcome back. Another 16 oz cold brew? Black?" What kind of sorcery is this? There were loads of people in front of me and behind me during my AM visit, so it's not like I had time for much of an interaction with them; they were slammed. And when I came back there were a couple people in front of me ordering more complicated drinks. But they remembered me!
