I really liked the flatbread - lots of cheesy goodness. The bison chili was good. The Korean bbq sauce was a tad spicy but was offset by the jasmine rice and veggies. The salmon was cooked perfectly. I grew up in Chicago and this is still one of the best pizzas I have ever had. We ordered a harvest cherry pizza- thin crust and a huckleberry salad. They were both so fresh and the crust was crispy. The flavors paired wonderfully together and it was enough food for two people to split. Highly recommend coming here in the summer for their 406 summer fare menu because both items were off of it. The only reason my review is not 5 stars is because the service was extremely slow. So bring your patience if you come, but the wait was well worth it! read more

Food, service, ambiance, and proximity to our hotel! Each of these things at Mackenzie Pizza added to wonderful stay in Belgrade before our flight out of Bozeman. I loved the variety of gourmet pizzas they offered. My husband and I shared the Sequoia pizza with thin crust and a Beet Salad with the dressing on the side so we could decide if we liked it, and we did. And we each enjoyed a glass of wine. The pizza and salad were both delicious... (seriously surprised how much my husband liked the salad ) We wanted to try one of their yummy deserts but we were so full and satisfied by the flavors of our dinner we didn't get any sweets. Service was excellent! We went in near closing time and our food and the service was still given all the bells and whistles. This is a must try, especially if you are staying nearby. Realizing there are negative reviews for poor service but they must be working on it! We are from out of state visiting friends and came for a drink and app! The atmosphere and food were wonderful but we had the BEST server- Ralston!!! He was patient (we had a hard time deciding), accommodating (he took our lead when we tried to pay for the table), fun and funny (joined on the fun and wrote us an epic comment on our receipt based on table conversation)! I arrived at peak dinner hours after stopping by some other places in Bozeman that had too long of a wait for me, but there were a few tables available here. My server was attentive, frequently reappearing to take a drink order and eventually to take my dinner order. I got the Fiesta bowl, which was incredibly flavorful. The flank steak was incredibly tender and smoky. My only gripe with my meal was the disproportionate amount of corn to the rice and beans; I could've done with another scoop. The restaurant, while mostly full, remained at a decent auditory level, perhaps due to the high ceiling. We have always loved this place. But the last time we ordered take home was unreal. One sandwich had a piece of meat the size of a quarter, literally the size of a coin. The rest of the sandwiches didn't have $5 worth of sandwich fillings, including meat, on them. They were 2 pieces of bread with barely anything between them. One had an avocado piece about an inch long and a half inch wide. We drove a round trip of 18 miles to pick them up. So disappointed. This location is terrible! I have gone to the Bozeman location for years and it's always been a favorite, but the Belgrade location has repeatedly had very poor service and food. This past weekend I ordered a pizza and skillet cookie for takeout. I arrive at the quoted time and went to the pickup window. A young, college aged boy told me my pizza was "just coming out of the oven" and would be ready in 5 minutes. Over 10 minutes went by before I checked in again to see if it was ready. He turned around and pretended to look into the kitchen and said they were just cutting my pizza now. I said great, and stayed at the counter since no one was behind me. I waited another 10 minutes before another college aged girl came and asked me what I was there to pickup. I explained that I'd been there for 20 minutes past the quoted wait time for the pizza and had been told by the other boy twice that my food was just about to be ready. She said she'd go check on it. She came right back and said my pizza was just now in the oven and had about 8 minutes left. It was obvious that the other boy had lied to me about the pizza "coming out of the oven" and "being cut". I would've just appreciated him being honest about a delay so I could go back to my car to wait until it would be ready... After waiting an hour in total for the pizza (and I ordered it at 4pm, so not during any rush hour) the manager did come over without me saying anything to tell me he was sorry and he comped the meal. I really appreciated this on his part. But when I received the pizza and skillet cookie I was very disappointed with the quality. The skillet cookie in particular was burnt and it wasn't even pressed into a skillet cookie shape- you could see where they threw the balls of dough in (shown in picture). I've been to this location about 4 times now and each time have been thoroughly disappointed with not only the quality of the pizza (the Bozeman location as a point of reference) but also the very poor service from the college-aged staff. read more

When we arrived, an additional 18% gratuity was added to the total withOUT it being disclosed at the time the order was called in and NO choice given. Had it not been for a birthday party with a house full for people waiting, we would have walked out. Wow! Delicious food, warm environment, and friendly service. I stopped here in Belgrade with my mom for a yummy lunch and we were pleasantly surprised at how good it was! For an appetizer we ordered the Lodgepoles (cheesy breadsticks) and we each got an individual pizza for our meal. Diana was our kind server, and even included a ranch with the Lodgepoles although 1. Only a side of marinara was on the menu and 2. We did not ask for ranch. (It was like she read my mind!!) What used to be a great place to get a good pizza and beer has turned into a sad excuse for a local restaurant. Our salads were soggy and drowning in dressing. Chop salads mean to chop. The lettuce was limp and in large torn pieces. The pizza was undercooked. By undercooked I mean cheese that was cold and crust that was raw dough. I'm not exaggerating when I say I have had better frozen pizza from the grocery store. We came in hungry and excited for good pizza and beer and left without touching half the food that was ordered. We were just passing through Bozeman and our "Low Pizza Alarm" was ringing MacKenzie River Pizza was adjacent to the interstate, so we gave it a shot. I wasn't really impressed. We ordered the "Good ol' boy" (Pepperoni, basically) and it was meh. We asked for thin crust, and they nailed that part: It was as thin and crispy as a saltine cracker. But it had no flavor whatsoever. There was a whole pile of pepperoni on top, but hardly any cheese to hold it all together. And, overall, absent the pizza satisfaction one might expect from a good slice. Plus, it was on the small-ish size for a $20 pizza. Also, ordered the Bison chili. This was better than expected, but not "traditional." It had whole kernel corn in it (?) and plenty of beans. But, overall, great chili flavor and thickness. I'd order this again. Cheese was funky, smelled/ tasted like it had gone bad..when let her know she just said ok, then took bowl w/ fork in it so I had nothing to eat my salad with. We arrived for lunch. Host seated us very quickly. Table was clean but still wet. My wife's bench seat was also wet. She took both napkins and dried them. The interior is decorated in a "Montana" theme. The menu is smaller than MacKenzie in Kalispel, but still a large selection. For lunch we ordered Lodgepoles, salads, chicken quasadela and a 1/2 Rubin sandwich. The food was excellent. The marinera served with the lodgepoles is excellent. The lunch was hot, everything tasted very good and the service from our server was excellent. We now have a new lunch/dinner location in Belgrade. read more

Hostess asked how many when we arrived then said nothing as she walked away so we followed, she sat the menus down then walked away. No words just a glare then walked away. Looking around I see maybe 6-7 tables with people and possibly 3-4 servers. After sitting for 10 minutes the hostess came over and quietly asked what drinks we wanted, brought them to our table and said the server would be right with us. Another 5-10 minutes passed before a server showed up - even though she was standing 10' away seeming to ignore us the whole time. She was very quiet so hard to hear. There is no sound deadening in this building so the screaming children, the pointless music playing over the speakers and the workers sliding chairs around makes it impossible to hear the person you are here with. Our table and seats had a lot of crumbs and was still a little dirty and apparently the server can't clean so she had the hostess do it, after we had to point it out to the server because she ignored it. I ordered a thin Rancher minus onions and green peppers, easy on the sauce and cheese. It arrived with regular amounts of cheese and sauce. Can nobody do easy on the cheese at least? Easy means LESS not the same. It was a still good pizza. My wife ordered the Pear and Bleu flatbread starter/appetizer. She also had the chicken quesadilla appetizer. Food was excellent except they used to thinly slice the pears, now they are cubed. One time the server returned and got a refill for my wife's water but I never saw her again so my drink remained empty when I really wanted more. Overall the food was good. Ambiance, cleanliness and service was terrible. Speak to your guests so they can hear you, this is not a library. Return to the table more than twice after the main course is served. Stop ignoring people, serve them with a smile, excitement and you might get a tip you actually worked for. After a little misunderstanding and being short staffed due to this global chaos we're at, Alex, one of the managers, took really good care of us and made sure we were all settled. Cheking was a bit glitchy but once we were seated everything was okay. Service was fast friendly and professional. Once looking at the pizza we couldn't decide between the Sequoia and the Thai Pizza so we ordered a large pizza that was half and half. Both types of pizzas were exceptionally fresh and delicious. We ordered pizza and pasta for the kids and there were also delicious. It was the first that my son finished almost his entire pepperoni pizza. Dessert was also exceptionally GOOD. What a strange place! So, brand new and well-decorated. Kinda rustic and fancy, all at once. There was a sign that read something like, "Please be patient, we are way understaffed." Oaky, I get it. Many place are. Then, as I sat, waiting for my food, I noticed two young ladies in the kitchen looking lost. One was flapping her arms like a bird, not really sure what that meant, but it had little to do with the ABCs of a commercial kitchen. Another, after listlissly checking some of the food orders already waiting to be given out, choose to talk to her BFF. For more than ten minutes. My order, aparentlly, sat there, while she gosspiped with her BFF. "I mean, he told me to check on the order, but there was no name that went with any of the orders, so what was I supposed to do?" More gossip about what turned out to be my order, until her manager lit a fire under her and asked her what I was waiting for. Once torn from the eternal gossipy bonds of adolescent friendship, she realized that I had been waiting for an order that had been sitting for more than ten minutes. Oopsie. I'll start with the positives. The restaurant was very nice! Our food was equally impressive. I had the baked chicken Alfredo and my wife had the tomato basil pizza, both were fantastic. The beer selection was impressive, as was the wine choices. And last but certainly not least, our waitress Chancy, was very tentative and professional. Nice job! Now, for this part it isn't necessarily anything the restaurant has done. When we arrived at 6:30 there was a full waiting area. But while getting our name on the list I couldn't help but notice there was atleast 12 or so empty tables. After being seated I realized why. There was only two waitresses. So, if you show up and have to wait, just be patient. If your food is taking longer than normal, just be patient (we were pleasantly surprised! It was worth the wait). There were 6 of us, we put our name on the list at 645, waited until 710 to be seated. There were only 4 parties at the restaurant. Took 8 mins to get a drink order put in, and another 5 to get them. Then we ordered food, from the point in which we ordered food, it took an hour and 10mins for us to recieve food. 3 more parties were seated between when we ordered and all recieved their food prior to us. When we finally got it, the pizza wasn't cooked completely, dough was softer and colder than one would like. Dirty dishes were not cleaned off the table in a timely manner (or at all for that matter) One of our beers got sent to another table without our request, and they had the audacity to charge us for it? They Then wanted to charge us full price after receiving such terrible service, and it took me commucating with management to knock even half off our bill. We asked our server if it was his first day, he said he had been there 2 months. Server blamed kitchen staff, but kitchen only makes what they're told, when they're told, maybe if he wasn't trying to flirt with the hostess he could have done a better job.
