Today we had an AWFUL experience with Theresa Chavez's cleaning service - personally I would avoid…read moreher service like the plague. This has taught us to be very cautious even folks have glowing reviews on Yelp, NextDoor etc. Sometimes homeowners feel bad for a particular person, and will promote them at others expense. Also, when certain business owners receive an influx of business - they will hire subpar talent and charge the same or more. Here's our story: Since it was our first time having Theresa clean, my wife stayed home to ensure we could explain a few things and ensure that we're on the same page. Theresa agreed to be at our place at 11am, about a week ago. At 9:30am, she said she was going to be early and show up at 10am. She seemed confused about who we were even though she visited our place a week prior to provide an estimate. She didn't show up at 11am, and by noon we called her asking what was going on. She said she would arrive at 1pm but ended up arriving at 2:00. Keep in mind that this caused us to have to shuffle around meetings and play the waiting game during lunch etc. Frankly, it was very unprofessional, but we gave her the benefit of doubt as she worked us into her schedule. She brought 2 helpers for a total of 3 people. Within 10 minutes - she and one of her helpers left for a different property, leaving 1 person at our place for nearly 1.5 hours. She returned and then cleaned a bit herself and announced that she was done. Being the first time, I want to exchange feedback and ensure we were on the same page. I had to spend 30 minutes going through half the house where they had not vacuumed the floor, couches, or wiped surfaces in the bathroom. We have a toddler, and a 5 month old baby who is learning to crawl and often puts his mouth on the floor. I was shocked to see that the play-mat wasn't moved or vacuumed. We had several spots in the kitchen where milk had been spilled - all left untouched - and I had to show her multiple times (a few of them are still there). Window sills and french doors were not cleaned - curtains were not pulled back. I had to spend my time waiting awkwardly while they took care of each item and them moved onto the next one. Towards the end of our feedback session, she was quite embarrassed and became defensive. She claimed that we needed a "deep cleaning". I told her: "Vacuuming thoroughly, cleaning milk spots when mopping, etc is table stakes. She insisted that we should pay full price and that we should be paying her 40% more (after agreeing to a price and seeing our house). Keep in mind that our house is very clean overall BEFORE the cleaning - so the ask wasn't unreasonable at all - we really needed an extra hand before a party and this was an absolute disaster. This has caused us a lot of angst. After she left (she insisted that she had to go), I found that entire corners of bedrooms were left untouched etc. It really boils down to the fact that she tried to pass-off having 1 unexperienced person clean our entire house (1,600sq ft). I called her to discuss and ensure that next time it would be done right but she said that she would call back, and never did. Hopefully this post prevents similar experiences and serves as a word to the wise. PS. Theresa did do a bit of ceremonial cleaning herself and she is quite good at it. However, keep in mind that she likely won't be doing the cleaning herself - regardless of what she tells you - UNLESS you're paying a premium. Her cleaner did not know how to operate our vacuum properly and somehow our cleaning heads ended up in her bag (I had to show them how to use the upholstery attachment so we were able to locate it).

I wasn't going to write a review but the more I think about it, I don't think it was a job well…read moredone. I was thankful that Lilian was able to provide service on Sunday, which is when they're usually closed. But I ended up having to reclean 75% of what was done so it feels like it wasn't worth the money or time waiting around. The floor was still dirty so it wasn't cleaned well. After the cleaners left, I busted out some new slippers and the bottom of them turned dirty. When I decided to steam mop afterwards, I had to change out the pads a few times as it turned dark from not being cleaned. I also noticed the large sliding glass doors leading to the backyard had streaks. There was a window that got missed above the sink and so it was cleaned haphazardly at the end. When they left I noticed there was streaks on the window. I had asked for a door to be wiped cause it was visibly dirty and one of the cleaners proceed to wipe it. Then she asked me if it was okay. I said okay bc I had given up at that point as I saw she just moved the dirt around and didn't clean it at all :').

The cleaners were quick to book (within 2 days) and on time (3-3:30 window, showed up right at 3 pm). They texted ahead of time (instead of calling). The only small thing was that I was told 3 cleaners would come and only 2 did (I didn't need 3 for my unit but just a small communication issue) They quoted me at $165-$230 and in the end it came out to $210+tip. The team of two were in and out in 1 hour, 45 minutes and able to clean my one bedroom apartment thoroughly (including fridge, cabinets, and oven). I loved that they moved my couch to clean under it as well! They prefer cash. Would definitely use them again in the future.
