Stopped by today on my way home and it was a total mess!…read moreWe waited for 15 mins at the sushi counter, had them paged waited another 10 or So mins with kids (they are supposed to be there until 5 pm it was 3 ish) no one ever showed up so we left and continued shopping. My girls have celiacs so we looked for the area where we could find some gluten free cookies or cakes (like Winco/Harmon's and Walmart/petersens) but they had nothing anymore even in the frozen section. We wanted burgers tonight.... They don't carry gluten free buns anymore just the breads---- saw a couple managers standing around and mentioned the sushi issue and they just shrugged it off "it's a vendor not our problem......" kept on talking to each other like they even gave a crap! Next we went looking for additional items they no longer carry.... Then had no option but to check an entire huge cart out by ourselves, machine kept jamming up.... Finally finished with a huge full heavy cart and some teens that worked there (two boys against the wall near the exit) and one larger one in a yellow vest just walks right in front of my boyfriend and he had to slam the cart to a stop while we all paused to stop so we didn't run into him and he didn't even care or apologize the other boys just laughed and said "haha nice one so and so just cut off customers lol" Rude! No thank you, there are too many other places to get groceries that have way more gluten free options, people actually on their shifts (sushi) and not rude teenie boppers treating customers that way! We will not be returning to smiths or filling rx's anymore here!

And after the shooting four years ago, security seems to have increased, so I don't feel as nervous going there as I otherwise would. But there's a lot of bad. The store is badly organized with inadequate signage. I usually leave without multiple items on my list, and they're usually pretty normal items, too. Case in point: a few weeks ago, I had pretzels on my shopping list and had to give up after looking in the candy/chips/snacks aisle and the peanut butter/cereal/granola aisle AND the bakery AND walking around the whole store three or four times. More than one cashier has asked an invasive question or made an uncomfortable comment (although, to be fair, this isn't unique to WinCo. Grocery store personnel in general seem to be going through an interesting phase). Either way, I try to go through the self-checkout aisle as much as possible to avoid the staff.

I get greetings when I come in to the store and I get thank yous or have a nice day when I leave. From any employee, deli, produce--anyone. Very nice people. They have quite the selection. They carry things that you do not find in any other store. (Check out their gourmet chocolates, YUM!) Yeah, their prices are slightly higher than Smith's or Macey's, but it's a good trade off. They have a great artisan bread department. They use a special German oven/bread maker and they send their employees to Germany to the manufacturer to learn how to use it. They have a gelato station at the deli and it is decent gelato. It seems that the one star reviews are the result of a bad manager. Hopefully this store can rectify this situation. Also, there are a few reviews referencing higher prices which I don't understand as everything is increasing in prices and Harmon's is not the only store raising prices on meat. Great place for groceries. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

Right now they are finishing a few months long re-make of the store. It will become a Macey's. I was told there is some kind of branding conflict with another food store called Fresh Market. I was also told that Macey's, Dan's and Fresh Market are all under the same parent company. I don't know how accurate that is, but this store already has Macey's branded carts and a Fresh market sign outside. The store has been open during the remodel, I don't know where anything is right now. But the new produce and deli section look really good and better than before. This is a small store, and although it appeared to be well stocked, it just seamed old and run downed. I stopped in here specifically to buy some celery. The produce section has shrunk since I was here last, and what produce they did have was not worth buying. Even though I am going to juice the celery I still want it crispy, not limp like a noodle. I left without buying anything, and when I got out to my car, I see this jack blank (naughty word) literally up against my rear end. I was so mad, I debated if I should wait for the culprit, and confront them, or leave. I thought since there isn't a dented bumper, I'll go ahead and leave, as I didn't feel like getting shot today.
