We parked in back in their private lot, but was told that parking would be an additional £10 when we checked-in. Once again, our Booking website did not clearly point out the extra fee for parking, so the front desk clerk apologized and upgraded us to a larger room with a view of Windsor Castle ... HOOAH! The room was smallish, but nicely appointed with a comfy queen size bed and fast internet, something we had recently missed at some of the English hotels and inns we stayed at on this road trip. Then there was the view of Windsor Castle ... WOW! Breakfast, which was included, was the best in recent memory with a choice of eggs Benedict, an omelette, or full English breakfast. I went with the eggs Benedict and my wife the omelette, both cooked to perfection. Juices, toast, coffee, tea and other selections (cereal, yogurt, etc) were also available. When checking-out, the clerk told us that she would comp the parking because of Booking website's oversight, saving us another $14.50. Really torn. Got two…read morerooms there earlier this month. The front desk lady knew nothing about the business, surrounding restaurants or where anything was located. Briefly mentioned where to go to get to our rooms. After following the first direction, we promptly got lost. There are no signs anywhere, so we had to go back and get assistance. They had us follow them down an UNMARKED hallway, through an UNMARKED door, up an UNMARKED stairway to our rooms. A little signage would be great. Rooms reasonable and warm despite the cold outside. Nice little coffee/tea set inside which I appreciate. Complimentary breakfast was very nice, and you could order something hotter for money. Very good service at breakfast! On the plus side, it's two blocks or so from Windsor Castle and it's a lovely walk.

If you ever stay in this hotel and want a really special treat I would recommend booking a RIver view suite. Each suite is named after luxury champagne and the river view suites are called Comtes de Champagne, Laurent Perrier and Ruinart . These are duplex rooms with King size beds with Egyptian cotton. Each having stunning open plan bathrooms and lounge area upstairs with French doors leading onto a heated balcony and outdoor bath with breathtaking views of the River Thames and Regatta lawns. The bathroom has another flat screen television and each bathroom has a open rolltop bath enough to share for two people and a monsoon walk in shower which there is ampul of complimentary toiletries. There is a double sink and a large mirror as well as a very large L shaped leather sofa. The amazing view outside can also be enjoyed in another roll top bath outside which is allows you privacy from other rooms or buildings but also you can enjoy the beauty of the stars in the sky at night! I go here every year and try to stay more than one night! It's a luxury treat but a very romantic weekend!

The little gem of Donnington…read more I have been staying here on business for a few weeks having stayed at some competitors' hotels in the local area and cannot recommend the Donnington enough. The service is always friendly yet efficient and the staff are more than happy to help with any queries or niggles I have during my stay. Rooms are split into two tiers; standard and executive (executive rooms being larger with a sofa, walk-in shower and separate bath, and robes/slippers included). Room service food is superb and always delivered promptly even during busy periods. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. The bar area is great and the staff are friendly and attentive. The decor provides a warm, intimate and relaxing atmosphere and is great for winding down in the evening. Breakfast in the restaurant in the mornings is superb and well worth the money. The cooked breakfast is particularly tasty and features meat from local farms. The spa and gym facilities are where the hotel really shines. The pool, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room are not to be missed (quiet times in the week are from around 7pm). The changing room/shower facilities are well thought out and provide ventilated lockers, trunk/swimming costume drying, shower gel, shampoo/conditioner, hair straighteners and driers.

Given my minimalist criteria, this hotel more than met my standards. I booked it because it was close to terminal 5 and we had morning flights from London. It was a happy discovery on checking in to find the POD...that could be the coolest way I've ever traveled to an airport-I LOVED IT! All airport hotels should have PODs! Outside of hotel won't win any beauty awards, but room was clean (although dated as other reviewers have stated). Best discovery was the terrace bar that parallels the runway. My companion and I are ex-USAF so getting to sit outside in the warm June evening, have a meal and watch airplanes take off was more than we could have ever asked for. It was a glorious night!

Thistle Hotel at Heathrow Airport was really disappointing…read more Despite being an airport hotel- the Thistle provides absolutely no transportation from the airport to the hotel- usually transfers form the airport to the hotel are complimentary. My plane touched down at 8.30 pm and I was barely able to have dinner in their restaurant before the early and unreasonable 10 pm closing time. The restaurant offers mainly heated TV dinners which are oversalted and taste terrible, the average person should only have 1,500 mg of salt per day to avoid heart attacks nd strokes- that translates to 500 mg at breakfast, 500 mg at lunch and 500 mg at dinner.......... the on-site restaurant easily exceeds these recommendations for good health. Hotel is really, really, really large with no elevator to the second floor- long Wallis through long passage ways ( it takes 10 minutes) to get to the other side of the hotel. staff does not assist with carrying bagge over long distances. Hotel was also noisy and in bad condition. Hotel staff FAILED to give me a 6 am wake up call - even after assuring me they would........I overslept until 8.30 am..........and didn't have the time to take a shower or eat anything............. Luckily- I was able or catch the infrequent bus back to Heathrow airport - there are no other options , no taxi. I was able to have breakfast there and make my flight. A terrible experience at a terrible hotel- you're better off staying in Earls Court or Paddington - hotels with decent amenities, near-by restaurants, and with staff who care.

Attached to the hotel is the brasserie which has a lovely view of the Thames and swans.

As an American, I was somewhat taken aback by the lovely receptionist who asked, "Did you know Trump is going to visit?" I thought she was being inclusive. My response, "Yes! I'm bummed I'll miss him." She said, with an unpleasant look, "You are?" Yes, half of America voted for and continue to support this man. Leave politics out of hospitality. That said, she was lovely on ash other accounts. The lift didn't work, but it's an old, but stunning building. Rooms are spacious and finally, we got face cloths! The restaurant and bar have a great atmosphere. Decorated with greenery (fake but will maintained) and bright colors that make you feel alive. The restaurant and bar include a variety of food and drink that would please anyone, even the pickiest of eaters. However, upon arrival at the bar, we weren't sure if we needed to order first or wait for a server. A server came by and she either was having a bad day or she didn't care for Americans, as we attempted to relate our order to her and got abide and sarcastic remarks. We would have left if it wa6nt for Jake. He was accommodating, friendly and went out of guys way for us. He's a reason we would return to the bar/restaurant! The beds are comfy, however my cousin and I have twin beds and they slide this way and that. Wondering if there's a way to make them more stable. First round at the mini bar is complimentary. Our view was towards the back of the hotel. Nothing to see there but cranes, alleys and rooftops that are an odd guy to the rest of the hotel. The great food, comfort and welcoming (for the most part) make this a place I would return, grabbed politics are never discussed, especially upon check in and not promoted by any conversation and we're the receptionist's personal views. It definitely made me want to start elsewhere. It's fortunate we had a great experience after check in. Again, it almost made me feel uncomfortable and I was thinking of leaving. However, people have different opinions and I respect that. I just didn't think I would encounter such bias upon check-in. I wonder if our room with the not so great view were based on my views. With the lift out of order, we either had to lug our suitcases up 3 flights if crooked stairs or have someone lug them up for us. The man was so gracious, but this is a job for the young and fit. I felt signing this task what I believe was the most senior staff was not a week thought out plan. Again, the hotel, location, lovely accommodations, food and most staff makes this a wonderful choice for your stay in Windsor!

It is a stay in a museum and one can wonder the halls of this property for a very long time. From paintings, to elaborate finishes, The Langley certainly deserves plentiful recognition. As a Titanium guest, I was able to get upgraded to a three story suite, which in itself is a spectacular upgrade by multiple categories up. The property sadly does not participate in Suite Nights, so it meant having to reach out to the manager prior. But hey, it's the result that counts right? Not only that, but the room included a favorite dessert and was beautifully appointed. There is an unquestionable "wow" factor to this hotel. Things like the television coming out from a cabinet by the bed mechanically with a touch of a button, top notch toiletries and impeccable finishes. The breakfast experience was pretty basic, but cutlery and plating was beautiful. The service at the front desk was truly spectacular and the team was always very helpful. At breakfast and lunch, a bit slow, requiring some chasing down of the same girl working both establishments. The burger was deliciously cooked for lunch and complimented perfectly with a fresh champagne. Nothing like burgers and champagne right? Walking through the vast grounds, it is pure pleasure to explore the British countryside and see swans, goats and plentiful wild birds. The entire estate is an elaborate escape from the hustle of London, only a short distance away and allows one to dive into different world of luxury and history.

We chose this establishment for the one night we were planning to stay in Oxford. This property has the best location of any hotel or bed & breakfast in the immediate area. It's right on Broad street almost smack dab in the middle of town. Frankly, the location can't be beat. We stayed in a remarkably average room. The bed wasn't very comfortable, the television had very poor reception and limited channels and the bathroom was VERY oddly designed; we had to dangerously climb onto a polished marble "step" to enter the raised bathtub area. Again, the saving grace for this property is its wonderful location. Also, the complimentary breakfast is delicious and hearty. To my knowledge, this property does not have an elevator available for guest use, so be prepared to begrudgingly carry heavy suitcases up a steep flight of stairs to the reception area, and then possibly up more steps to your room. Pleasingly, all the staff we encountered were friendly and accommodating. However, after dark, the area has a generally seedy feeling to it, with dim lighting and sketchy characters lurking about. I definitely recommend this property to anyone planning to stay overnight in Oxford. Third time's a charm: the location of this establishment is IDEAL.
