Not a great situation for the amount that was paid per night. I might have enjoyed the cold showers (because I heard they were great for you), but being that I am pregnant it wasn't an ideal scenario . On a better note the staff did do all in their power to try to mend the situation.

The hotel had no backup power for the outage so they shipped us 25 miles away by cab to a sister property with no communication except we were being moved. We were told to wait in the dark lounge - no flashlights, lanterns not even a candle We were driven by cab and basically abandoned in the town of Windsor. There were several hotels with power in town but they would have had to pay for the room. General manager, Mr. Kumar, did not return my calls. I also found a plastic filament in my soup which the hotel told me was "thyme".

In the evening we went into Marlow High Street where there are a number of different restaurants and bars to go to. All in all a very nice visit.

Very impressive I stayed in a suite and the £30 for upgrade is worth it for a sumptuous room, lovely bathroom and toiletries. The spa facilities are well designed to fit a lot into a relatively small space. The pool has an indoor and outdoor section as well as jacuzzi beds and a fountain. There is a steam room and sauna as well as experience showers. There is a full menu of spa treatments available. The restaurant aspires to fine dining and proves that it has the building blocks in place for great things. A plate of canapes arrived as I was perusing the menu, all delicious bursts of flavour. My belly pork starter was paired perfectly with scallop. The lamb main course was skilfully well constructed, allowing the lamb to shine through. My dessert of raspberry souffle was exemplary. On first entering this hotel I was surprised as to how old school it was, nice little chandeliers all around with tiny lights. I was also very happy with the room as even though it was small it had a nice bed with quite a few pillows to choose from. The bath was also nice & I was happy when I first entered my room, having said that when I further tried to use the facility I was really not happy. The slippers were really dusty & also the shower gel bottle had hair around it which is absolutely disgusting in a nice hotel. This is my biggest pain point from this hotel. The restaurant was pretty decent & pretty plain & simple breakfast. I only stayed for a day & for the 1st time, so this is my first impression never know what happens in future.

My room however was not worth the $1k per night I paid. No cookies, small bathroom, no AC (visited in the blazing summer), no fridge. The charges for food were outrageous. Lunch menu was limited and I spent $100 on a bowl of soup, salad and a couple of soft drinks. This all being said am I happy I stayed here, yes. Its a once in a lifetime stay that I would never repeat but I probably put the $5k I spent to better use as a down payment on a new car but you only live once!

I was incredibly lucky to visit with my company for a 25th anniversary work trip/holiday party, so we spent 3 days in the conference rooms by day and had drinks near the fireplace by night. It was early December so it was incredibly cold, but you still can't beat that view. I imagine I would be frolicking in the gardens in the summertime lol. The service was absolutely impeccable from the folks at the bar to those who served us at breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The staff made our experience and team bonding time truly unforgettable. The grounds are not only beautiful, but also holds fascinating history! I wish I took more pictures of their stories in the lobby, but I may have to settle with whatever I find on their website. Some events we had were clay pigeon shooting nearby and a tour of their charming town Henley-on-Thames, and my goodness I would come back to the UK just to explore the town more. I loved the local pubs we visited and learning about the famous British celebrities who have homes there. I can't wait to be back!

The reception staff were friendly, but not always knowledgeable. The Hotel ought to make smart tv's standard in all rooms. It was disappointing to be stuck with only the commercial channels (without even a menu option). Our bathroom lacked a toilet brush. The food was adequate and could certainly be upgraded to enhance the Hotel. The spa was disappointing, except for the facials we two had. Those were very well-done. Avoid the massage therapists here; they are insecure, inexperienced young people. For whatever reason, the staff appeared to be 100% women. Especially disappointing was the reception staff at the spa. I would say it was worse than disappointing; it was almost infuriating. Again, the staff was very young women who undoubtedly had little experience in their roles. As insecure young people will do, they will compensate for their lack of knowledge and experience by acting 'in control' and official. They seemed to think the role of reception at the spa was to enforce rules and keep clients in line. This is a major error. Their role is first and last, like everyone at an hotel, to serve a hospitality function: to be welcoming and conveying the wish to facilitate the client's optimal experience. Some re-training is definitely in order. As for the massage staff, I'd say re-hiring is in order; pay more and get more experienced and effective masseurs or masseuses. Consider the good package I got and the high standards of housekeeping and groundskeeping as well as the divine venue, I would definitely stay there again, but would not make use of the restaurant or spa in future.

If you ever stay in this hotel and want a really special treat I would recommend booking a RIver view suite. Each suite is named after luxury champagne and the river view suites are called Comtes de Champagne, Laurent Perrier and Ruinart . These are duplex rooms with King size beds with Egyptian cotton. Each having stunning open plan bathrooms and lounge area upstairs with French doors leading onto a heated balcony and outdoor bath with breathtaking views of the River Thames and Regatta lawns. The bathroom has another flat screen television and each bathroom has a open rolltop bath enough to share for two people and a monsoon walk in shower which there is ampul of complimentary toiletries. There is a double sink and a large mirror as well as a very large L shaped leather sofa. The amazing view outside can also be enjoyed in another roll top bath outside which is allows you privacy from other rooms or buildings but also you can enjoy the beauty of the stars in the sky at night! I go here every year and try to stay more than one night! It's a luxury treat but a very romantic weekend!
