It also seems the place to watch live sports over a drink and a burger with tv screens on each corner of the restaurant yet it is still very family friendly and service has always been impeccable. In my honest opinion I do believe they serve some of the best American dishes around and can even compete with some of London's favourite diners. Wild wings (cajun) x6 Incredibly moreish and can see myself finishing a higher quantity bucket load. The wing sizes were quite average but very succulent and meaty inside. The cajun spices gave it a nice sweet paprika garlicky flavour and latched on well on the crispy skins of the wing showing that they were well fried, Sloppy Joes Ticked all the boxes for a fantastic burger. First that lovely pillow soft brioche bun, slightly charred so it came warm. Then came the rich tender minced beef fried with onions and peppers in there to give it some texture and boost of flavour. The sauce it came with was generous, with lovely rich sweet and and savoury notes keeping everything moist and juicy throughout. Finished off nicely with a fine slice of cheese, melted perfectly to intensify the umami flavours. Full rack ribs A delicious slab of ribs, keeping its meaty texture and flavours which suggest it was slow cooked the full length of time to tenderise and soften the meat. There was no pre cooking the ribs beforehand here. This allowed the rich BBQ coca cola sauce to penetrate through to the bone whilst reducing in liquid to create a rich and sticky coating around the ribs keeping everythign moist and juicy. A nice light creamy coleslaw on the side to cool things off. Curly fries These were perfectly fried. It had that moreish fluffy inside and crispy outside that was coated in the sweet mild spices which you find collapsing on itself as you chew, sending the rush of flavour through each mouthful. I say mouthful as who just pops one in their mouth per bite, not if they are this good. Chilli fries Not the spicy chilli as I imagined but chilli consisting of a wonderful well flavoured mix of red kidney beans, onions and red peppers in a lovely thick tomato slurry that helped bind the sauce and flavours on each and every chip. Drizzled with sour cream to add a lovely creamy consistency. Very wholesome dish. Sloppy suits every occassion whether it's your quick lunch or a celebration feast. Food has always been fantastic and paired with that is it's lovely bright and spacious atmosphere. Those who can eat a lot like me should definitely go for one of their food challenges. try their Sloppy Joes challenge and knock me down the top of the chart if you can.

Then more joined and it turned into me watching this table of really really drunk people trying to order food. Two of them ended up just falling asleep. It was super strange. Anyway, me being distracted aside, I really loved the cocktail I ordered- Sloe Boat To China, and everyone else seemed happy with theirs. I was dying to try the pimiento cheese starter and the fried pickles. The cheese was particularly sharp and delicious. The pickles were good, but quite skinny (I mean come on, you're in an American restaurant I was expecting some serious pickles). The vegan gumbo was super spicy and delicious. I was impressed and enjoyed it. My husband dropped the ball and ordered the regular jambalaya (with sausage) rather than the seafood one which broke my heart a little bit, because I really wanted to try it. You know, I guess that means we'll just have to come back. Oh also another bonus, this place has brisket which is really hard to find. I can't say how it tastes but my friend said he defo approves (am I becoming more British with these words, or just more annoying?) Anyway, to finish it off I had the oreo cheesecake which the bomb. I love oreos. And it tasted like oreo. So all was right with the world. A wonderful place to come if you have people who want to try American food, or if you have out of town Americans who are too scared to try other food, or if you have hungry friends that want to try cajun food, or if you just want to try some really yummy food.

Since I was staying there two full nights and one of the nights was dinner at The Fat Duck, I intentionally made the other dinner as low-key chill as possible, which was the beer garden at the back of the Crown at Bray. Supposedly the owner is Heston Blumenthal, who is also the owner of The Fat Duck but unlike TFD it is not listed in the four restaurants that comprise the TFD restaurant group - apparently he wanted to keep this a local's pub. But ever since TFD and the other 3-star Michelin Waterside Inn arrived Bray has been the UK's culinary mecca so even the local pub food is already elevated. But just because it's pub food doesn't mean it's cheap... fish and chips here is a tad more than $20. BUT since it's the UK the price of a pint is regulated, so £6/pint is pretty sweet considering how the country is one of the most expensive to travel in the world. I visited here on two occasions, both in the afternoon. During the summer the back garden opens up and service is primarily held over there. You wouldn't be able to tell there was a garden just by looking at the pub. But on both occasions I had to be led into the back because if you didn't know your way you could get lost. On the first visit I just had a very small plate of kofte (think doner but meatballs) served with a dollop of yogurt cucumber with a beer. Simple in execution but delicious since TFD's dinner would've been a few hours later. The following day I went back for a full meal. Beer: Brixton Electric IPA (£6). This is an American-style IPA but better in execution. Being an IPA it's hop-forward but not overly so, as the beer is supposed to be a good balance between malt and hop. I normally don't like IPA's but considering that my meal was fish and chips, you want something as a palate refresher after eating hearty food. Fish & Chips, Crushed Peas, Homemade Tartare Sauce (£19.75). The fish here is haddock, which is more flavorful than cod. Love the skin because it was consistently crispy even 10 minutes later. The chips (fries) are triple-cooked, a method that first brought Heston to national acclaim. The end result is that by nature the fries are extra crispy and hold their crunch for a long time. Very good meal to wrap up my last day in Bray.

Servers here came by often as they refilled waters and took more drink orders. Definitely worth stopping by no matter what time of year.

So whereas you'd have a chicken sandwich with mayo in America, in England it becomes a chicken mayo sandwich. That's just wrong. And nasty. Enter Pickle & Rye. If this place were in Soho or South Kensington then there'd be lines out the door. True Mortlake is in London's upscale southwest and thus home to several affluent American ex-pats, but I feel like that this gem of a sandwich place is missing out on a golden opportunity by being stuck out in the middle of nowhere. It was a trek to get to even from Fulham, and I've got plenty of friends who think that Fulham is enough of a trek already. Or at least that's their excuse for never coming to visit us. This place would merely have to not completely suck to be one of the best sandwich places in London, but it's really taken the art of the sandwich to another level. The owner / head sandwich dude is a culinary school graduate who roasts all their meats, cures his own corned beef (known around these parts as salt beef), makes his own dill pickles (which are easily the best that I've ever had in England) and Russian dressing, with the result being the finest reuben this side of the Atlantic. However it's very comfortable with regard to the room. The bath is a bit off as it's a tub shower and climbing in and out can be tricky. The overall hotel is quiet and comfortable. The staff is friendly and welcoming and accommodating. The restaurant is quite nice and Chris is an excellent host Elvis at the front desk is quite helpful and the manager is awesome as well. This UK chain is all across the country and I highly recommend it.

The dinner food was more like pub fare but it was very good. Everything was very clean and the beds were pretty comfortable, there were even extra pillows available.
