My room however was not worth the $1k per night I paid. No cookies, small bathroom, no AC (visited in the blazing summer), no fridge. The charges for food were outrageous. Lunch menu was limited and I spent $100 on a bowl of soup, salad and a couple of soft drinks. This all being said am I happy I stayed here, yes. Its a once in a lifetime stay that I would never repeat but I probably put the $5k I spent to better use as a down payment on a new car but you only live once!

However it's very comfortable with regard to the room. The bath is a bit off as it's a tub shower and climbing in and out can be tricky. The overall hotel is quiet and comfortable. The staff is friendly and welcoming and accommodating. The restaurant is quite nice and Chris is an excellent host Elvis at the front desk is quite helpful and the manager is awesome as well. This UK chain is all across the country and I highly recommend it.

The dinner food was more like pub fare but it was very good. Everything was very clean and the beds were pretty comfortable, there were even extra pillows available.

Little known path along the Thames can be taken all the way to town. The Glaze is wide open restaurant, bar, and observatory combination with a view of a garden and lake. The staff are all friendly and accommodating. Sleep quality above average. However, we would have preferred better pillows.

Finding the place at night was a nightmare, as signage was practically hidden and the little side road access to the hotel was invisible at night. We drove around for over an hour looking for some way to get to the place. The check-in and check-out process was the most disorganized I have ever witnessed with reception staff having to disappear into the back somewhere for printouts and change! This all took much longer than I have ever experienced in the US. This disorganization extended to the bar where they could not take a credit card and where once again they had to disappear to some secret sanctuary to obtain change. Strange.

I might have enjoyed the cold showers (because I heard they were great for you), but being that I am pregnant it wasn't an ideal scenario . The hotel had no backup power for the outage so they shipped us 25 miles away by cab to a sister property with no communication except we were being moved. We were told to wait in the dark lounge - no flashlights, lanterns not even a candle We were driven by cab and basically abandoned in the town of Windsor. There were several hotels with power in town but they would have had to pay for the room. General manager, Mr. Kumar, did not return my calls. I also found a plastic filament in my soup which the hotel told me was "thyme".

Rooms are nicely appointed and come with the usual room ammeneties. The restaurant has seasonal specials that change on a regular basis. I opted for the 3 course menu . The lamb was served with seasonal veg and dauphinois potatoes and was served perfectly pink. The cheese and biscuits were fine ith pretty main stresm cheese choices. They do a good breakfast with everything cooked to order as well as specialities such as eggs benedict, smoked kippers, poached eggs and classic smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Its a nice hotel and one which i will definitely stay in again.
