The room was very clean and well appointed; the bath had good water pressure and there were sufficient amenities in the bathroom. Because I had signed up to be a Jurys Inn member when I booked the room, I was given a voucher code for free wifi and put on a special floor, so I would recommend signing up when booking (you don't even need to have been a member for a long time to get these perks; I had never stayed at a Jurys Inn before when I booked my room). The breakfast was really enjoyable; the buffet had a lot of options, including fruits, breads, and English breakfast fry-ups. The breakfast smoothies were a big hit with my coworkers and the crumpets were really good. Drink options included tea, coffee, plain water, and fruit-infused water. Everything was nicely presented; milk, breakfast smoothies, and yogurt all came in mini glass jars. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful; one of them was happy to help me with my wifi code. The hotel is conveniently located a short walk from the Watford Junction train station in one direction and the main town area (where all the restaurants are) in the other direction. The rate was pretty good given the quality of the room and the fact that breakfast was included. I really enjoyed my stay here and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in the area. Booking online was easy and I was able to pay with my American debit card without any issues.

The facility was well maintained and I appreciate the security guard being onsite in the lobby in the evening; I felt safe. Additionally, I was a bit surprised that they were overbooked when I arrived and I had to wait for about 30 minutes for a room; thought that was strange considering I'd booked my room about one month in advance. Nevertheless, I passed time by purchasing snacks from the store. The breakfast in the morning was well worth it especially if you book it with the room rate. We were almost able to skip a meal besides snacking due to the options available then. Had dinner one night out in the outside bar area. Took forever to get service. My colleague had to go inside to order our beers and ask for service. Someone from inside came out promptly to serve us. The crown burger and fries was really good with crispy fat fries. Generous chicken Caesar salad too. Much improved food quality from last time I stayed here.

It's some ancient series of buildings that have grown and evolved over the centuries. The main building is a work of art, and feels historic. The dining is the best thing about the place--the eggs benedict are up there with the very best I've ever had. Staying there a week plus a weekend, I ended up having them way too often for breakfast. I'd give them four stars but for the fact that when I was there (March 2011) there were some sporadic and rather annoying issues with their wi-fi service. When it was on, it was fantastic. When it wasn't... well, it was pretty bad. Prices are reasonable for the area for business travelers, and the location is in the literal middle of Chertsey. Not much there, but for what is there, it's all walking distance from the hotel.

The rooms are furnished with the usual that you'd expect in this price range: bed, chair or divan, nice desk, lots of lights, air conditioning, an open wardrobe, TV, coathooks, one drawer, hair dryer vanity, toilet and bathtub/shower. The bathtub is nice and deep, although unusually high off the floor. I found myself missing the mini-fridge that so many chains include. The free breakfast is the best I have seen in any hotel I've stayed: full English breakfast, a good choice of cold cereals, fruit, yoghurt, juices, coffee, tea, etc. Some items, you have to ask for the kitchen to make up for you (vegetarian sausages, porridge, omelettes). The restaurant is also open the rest of the day, but like most hotel restaurants, it's pretty overpriced. Fortunately, High Wycombe is pretty well supplied with fun places to eat, a number of which are within easy walking distance. There is also lots of shopping nearby. There is free wi-fi, with the option to upgrade to a fast connection by paying for it.

Let's just start by saying that I spend roughly 9 hours at the property which was about 9 hours too…read moremuch. I was not a fan and for ease of reading, I'll break down as follows: THE GOOD: *Prime location if you are traveling via train as it's literally adjacent to the Reading Station. In fact, the hotel overlooks the car loop. *Centrally located in the city centre, if thats your need or desire. THE NEEDS ATTENTION: *Where do I start as there is so much that really requires attention. I was told that this used to be a popular chain in the UK which seems to have had a major downturn in recent times. The overall sentiment here is that the property needs a real good scrubbing and updating. *The design is dark. Super dark. To the point that literally one lightbulb is illuminating the surface areas. This doesn't work well in the bathroom when in need of virtually anything requiring a mirror. *The guest room was fair at best - the carpet was stained and held a film of fifth that I did not feel comfortable walking around w/out shoes. The doors didn't have a secure closure. My safe did not function at all. There was a stench of extreme body odor in the room which I believe originates from zero to little air flow due to... *The rooms feature a key card light switch which means you have to place your room key card in a slot to activate the lights and HVAC in the room. I understand this as an efficiency play however it doesn't do well for the room setting as there is zero air flow when you vacate the room. It's also an outdated system often found at the cheaper hotel properties. Not a fan as there are better ways to accomodate sustainability. *The bed was fairly stiff and featured just two tiny bed pillows - of all areas to scale back on, this was a head scratcher. It didn't have a fresh or overly clean sense to it. *The towels need to be refreshed and more fluffy. *The bathroom overall was depressing - dark, dingy and smelly. Oddly enough the hot faucets displayed a custom printed tag warning that the pipe can get extremely hot. The fixtures are very dated. Again the lighting in here is atrocious. I don't think the floors were properly cleaned in years. *The walls and ceiling are paper thin. I think a heard of elephants were staying in the room above me on the 4th floor as I heard loud footsteps throughout the night and early AM for hours while I was waking up. So odd as the rooms are fairly small - how could so much walking occur. *My view was of a wall outside so nothing to note of there. Unless you need a hotel of a certain price point and location, I'd consider elsewhere.
