I am the director of a young film festival... and we just had our first year's Award Ceremony at Macaluso's in Feb 2023. I encourage anyone reading this not to only consider this wonderful venue for weddings and bridal showers... not a filmmaker that attended did not say that this wasn't the greatest Award Ceremony they had ever attended.... and we had very active filmmakers attend from across the country and around the world. In some ways having our event here really "put us on the map" and I intend to have it here going forward, for as long as they will have us... amazing food, attentive staff and decades of experience and pride... thank you Macaluso's

My friend got married during COVID here. The wedding hall is so big that everyone on my livestream mentioned that it looked empty even though there were about 100 people in attendance. The food was your average wedding food. The bartender was very sweet! Also, social distancing guidelines, temperature checks, and masks in the halls is all in order.

I recently attended a wedding at Macaluso's. The establishment sits high above the street, so you feel like you are pulling up to a castle! Complementary Valet service was available to park our cars, which was nice since we were dressed in formal attire. The venue is decked out with chandeliers, candles, fireplaces and art, which are slightly dated. The cocktail hour was loaded with choices, and the open bar was certainly handy, though the drinks were tiny. The food as a whole was *meh*, lacking flavor and excitement. I had a NY strip steak that was over cooked and bland. I heard other people discussing the same quality of their food. Generally, the servers were lovely and welcoming, but you could tell that they kept the event on a strict timetable, it felt very rushed. Personally, I would want a wedding to feel more free-flowing and natural. If you are the kind of person who wants to be kept to a timeline for your special day, this place is for you. They will have you PROMPTLY out at 11pm.

As a first time visitor to this highly-praised event venue, I couldn't have been any more impressed. The décor, the service, and most importantly the food lived up to all the expectations that I had coming in to the place. My work holiday party was held for the first time this year at Macaluso's and I think it's going to continue to be held there for years to come based on all the positive comments from everyone I spoke to. For a place to hold hundreds and hundreds of party revelers and still maintain a great sense of elegance is no small feat, but Macaluso's was able to pull it off with grace and style. Boy what a treat it was to celebrate with coworkers and enjoy all the hard work this past year. The place may not be the biggest venue I have been to but its space utilization is perfect. The main ballroom has a huge dance floor and plenty of space to accommodate a couple hundred guests. The décor is Italian elegance mixed with French flare. You instantly knew it was going to be a classy party as soon as you walked in. Connected to the grand ballroom was another area where the buffet was set-up. Selections were simply too many to recount and the food served was nothing short of perfect. Everything was scrumptious and I ate every bit of food on my plate until not a single morsel was left. At first I felt so awkward for doing such thing but then I realized that I wasn't the only one who pretty much licked their plate clean. Perhaps that's the biggest compliment I can give--I would have actually licked my plate clean had it not been for my coworker stopping me! I understand why many people list Macaluso's as a favorite place to hold events. I can only imagine how amazing a wedding would be here. If my holiday party experience was any indicator, any bride would find this place the perfect venue for her special day. Perhaps when I attend a wedding here I can see another side of it, but I have no doubt based on my one visit they will blow any event out of the water.

Attended a Summer wedding at macaluso! The reception was held at this location... from the outside it looked like a small little Italian restaurant...but the inside looked so big and elegant... the entrees span all the way to a three course sit down dinner with a full open bar and dancing into the night.... I really enjoyed the buffet of appetizers...very delish... The only thing I had a problem with would be the seats were located a mile away from the buffet....made it extremely hard and difficult to get another plate of food.. I thought the decor was nice... Pretty elegant... The center pieces were cutes...kept me entrain all night... The service was great...but I felt hurried because they keep asking me if Im done with my food... first dance for the bride and groom....a father/daughter dance for the bride and her father... possibly a mother/son dance for the son and his mother...and then everyone joins in and partying it up... during the reception...the bride and groom cut the wedding cake and feed each other a bite...towards the end of the reception... the bride did the bouquet toss every single or unmarried women went crazy for it... Tip: chocolate fountain!

(Reservations are not that easy to make last minute.) The restaurant is big and open but always busy. Kids get wax craft sticks to play with and bend into cool shapes, which I find very unique and cool. I feel like there is a difference between a diner and a true brunch place. A diner, of which there are numerous in New Jersey, is a establishment that churns out inexpensive, and potentially excellent, but very standard breakfast food - omelettes, pancakes, benedicts and the like. A true brunch place, on the other hand, offers things like lemon ricotta pancakes, cacio e pepe scrambles, mushroom thyme omelettes and shakshuka. Willow & Whisk is that kind of brunch place, and which is rare in New Jersey. The food options are varied, very tasty, and with good portion sizes. I love the shakshuka and the mushroom thyme omelette. Oh gosh, when is our next reservation again?

I asked if I could do 2% milk with my latte at 8am with only 1 other table in the restaurant. Waitress told me it's whole or skim. I asked if she could mix them, half and half. She said it takes too long for the bartenders... I said "there's 2 people here, mind if you make an exception?" To which she followed up with "no, it's a rule." Okay fine... I'll settle for my $7 latte I guess. Following that, I ordered the mushroom thyme omelette, the second bite I took had a full on hard stick from the thyme I almost choked on (not chewy, hard - see pictures). I decided to let it slide, these things happen with fresh herbs. 2 more bites in, another massive stem stick jabbed me. If I had given my daughter either of those bites, it could have been scary. I sent it back. I love their coffee, and the shukshukka (botching the spelling). But for how much you pay, their service is inconsistent and these errors are painful (literally). I'll likely come back for the coffee and vibes but won't be bending over backwards to do brunch here.

They were tremendous and very accommodating all night. The cocktail hour had a number of different options ranging from a seafood table to Charcuterie plates to a gyro station. There was also a number of pastas and a section for Asian cuisine with stir fry being served. There were numerous staff members walking around with handheld dishes too. My favorite option here was probably the harissa at the gyro station. I had that on a falafel gyro, and it was very flavorful. The sushi rolls were decent at best while the grilled chorizo was tasty. Those were just a few of the many dishes I had. For dinner, there was a choice of three main courses along with a salad. The salad consisted of mixed greens, frisee, endive, almond silvers, dried cranberries, and goat cheese with a white balsamic vinaigrette. This was a well put together salad. The white balsamic vinaigrette was key as it brought all the flavors together. Regarding the main course, I was able to share two, the filet mignon and Chilean seabass. The filet had a bordelaise sauce with carrots, asparagus, and a red bliss potato cake. The seabass was pan seared with an heirloom tomato fondue, asparagus, carrots, and a rice pilaf. These were decent at best. The filet had an inconsistent temperature throughout as it was cooked to a medium on the inside while the outside was more well done. The vegetables were a tad hard while the potato cake was nicely fried. It was expected at a large event. The seabass was cooked nicely, but just well under seasoned. The fondue was okay while the rice was a tad hard too. For dessert, cake with ice cream was served. I doubt the cake was made on the premise, but it was not too bad. It was all vanilla I believe including the ice cream. Will I go back? Probably.

I called in the morning to make a reservation for a Friday early afternoon. Nobody returned my call after an hour and a half so I tried calling again. Someone answered and took my reservation for 2. There's plenty of parking around the property, but I really wouldn't suggest visiting when they're busy (weekends, autumn). Pamela and Lauren were serving the wines and took care of everyone. They wanted to ensure everybody got wines that enjoyed. We weren't crazy about too many of the wines, but did find a couple we liked. We really enjoyed the Rkatsiteli wine and bought 3 bottles. You can't bring food from outside into the experience, but you can purchase food from the farm's market. We got some port cheese spread and breadsticks. The market charges a 2 percent credit card fee, but the wine tasting room doesn't charge a fee. If you reserve at least 48 hours in advance, you can purchase charcuterie boxes. The only suggestion I have for improvement is to provide some water during the tasting experience. This is typical at wineries as tasters want to cleanse their palates and glasses.

There were multiple seats open and she did agree to sit us. While there, multiple other walk-ins were also seated. The wine itself was not my taste. It was overly sweet or tasted watered down. I honestly struggled to finish the tasting. My feelings were shared by the other 4 people in my group. It was on the quieter slower side for reservations which was more enjoyable. We started off with appetizers besides the table bread. The cheesy bread is a favorite compared to their normal bread. The Asian calamari from the specials list was not something I personally enjoyed as I'm not a teriyaki sauce person and the rings were a bit chewy. The ahi tuna everyone at my table seemed to enjoy as well. The clams casino were personally my favorite and I do wish we had ordered two of them as the clams were very small. Onto entrees most of us ordered some type of steak. Filet mignon, NY strip, or braised short rib. All were cooked to our perfect temperatures and well flavored. A bonus is that all entrees come with a salad, baked potato, or fries instead of having to order sides à la carte. The halibut oreganata was also delicious and a huge portion as well. I will say dessert was probably my least favorite part of the meal. The chocolate cake I had was just ehh it was extremely sugary and the vanilla ice cream tasted like breyers to me. The cookie dough cake was the best option our table chose as it was unique and well presented and not overly sweet at all. The coconut sorbet was alright but an extremely small portion for $12. The cannoli was also interesting and I would probably not order again as it tasted more meringue and sweet than the typical ricotta cannoli filling. Overall a good meal but we definitely could have changed the appetizers we ordered, and ordered no desserts. Our server Rolando was fantastic. We never had to ask for water, drinks to be filled, and he happily accommodated any questions or requests we had.
