Their schedule was as advertised eventhough we had several delays with materials during Covid 2020. The Macaluso build team were really professional with great attention to detail. The best part was there were no hidden fee cost uppers, none. I paid the cost from the original bid. The pool is really beautiful and works without a problem. Macaluso built a pool and spa. Yet they want to dismiss our review as just an Internet review. It is a review that is on the Internet - that is true. It is also true that they built the pool and spa; We have the proof as do they as does the city permit office Save yourself and look elsewhere. It's one thing to make mistakes, it's another thing to never take responsibility for them and thus don't hold your breath for them to fix them. It's also incredibly rude and reflects terrible customer service to stand your customer up multiple times. Once they are paid, you can forget about them coming back even if you are under warranty. However they may make an appointment just to no show- multiple times. Meanwhile you'll have big water bills and serious problems and you have to find somebody else to try to fix it. It may take them more time and your money because they were not the original builder and thus may have to sleuth for data-points, shut off valves and more. We could not be happier with the beautiful back yard pool Macaluso built for us recently. We had such a hard time finding a contractor interesting in bidding on our medium-sized project (in Santa Barbara terms) until I called Macaluso. After I called, we had an good and acceptable contract within days and work began immediately. The owner/contractor (a second-generation local pool contractor) was on-site every morning at 8 a.m. sharp at the beginning to make sure that the proper work was well underway. After than we had a great construction supervisor on-site all the time. The owner also gave us some great advice about some design changes and nice extra touches he would add - all of which were spot on and did not really add any real cost and make our pool so much nicer looking and usable. Our project was completed in just a few months. The only reason I have not posted photos (yet) is that we are still having the paver deck and landscaping around the pool installed. I do not hesitate in the slightest to recommend Macaluso Pools to any SB County homeowner. read more

Our pool was put in by Jeff Macaluso's team some 30+ years ago. We chose to work with this company because they stand for excellence. If you are not familiar with their work, I highly suggest you look them up, long heritage of phenomenal work. If you try to low ball any contractor, as a lot of these new people rushing to flood in Santa Barbara do, you will experience problems. You get what you pay for, if I had a horror story for every cheap person's story I've heard I would be a millionaire 10x's over. Bottom line, call and interview each contractor with an open mind and heart and see who fits your needs and go from there. We selected Macaluso as our pool contractor and have serious regrets. They were more expensive than most and gave the impression that the increase in cost would translate into a smooth, more professional experience and that has certainly not been our experience. Highly disorganized, little to no supervision of subs, billing mistakes (in their favor), massively inefficient, unresponsive to basic communication, incredibly long delays, many additional costs that we were not warned about, terrible coordination, we really had to project manage the job because it got so bad. Certainly not what we expected from a group claiming to be a leading provider. We have been through a major $1m+ remodel and had an excellent experience with the general contractor that we used and I would give positive reviews to really all of the other contractors that we have worked with, but with Macaluso it has been like pulling teeth every step of the way. When I hire a contractor, I expect them to oversee subs, keep things running smoothly and efficiently and to provide consistent clear communication with us and my experience with team Macaluso has been the precise opposite - no oversight, long delays, massive inefficiencies, terrible communication. It has been a massively frustrating experience for our family and I would recommend looking elsewhere for your pool contractor.
