We came here with a party of 6 yesterday. It took about 15 minutes for our server to come to us first. He finally came, asked us for drink orders, and we ordered water, just 6 waters. The waters themselves took about 20 minutes to come out. Then our appetizers came shortly after. The plates brought to us for the appetizers literally had food pieces on them and sauce smears - seemed like they weren't run through the washer enough. After we got the water, it took them 20 minutes to take our order. After we placed our orders it took over an hour for our food to be brought out. The service was incredibly slow for mediocre food. The atmosphere was good and we were with good people, so that made the experience alright. I don't recommend coming here, find a better place in Harrisonburg, there's so many. read more

We used take out so cannot comment on service. Order was ready within allocated 20 minutes. Temperature Luke warm. Food was tasty and adequate sizing. Recommend big city jazz. Turkey and avocado with macaroni. Wife had chicken salad and son had bang bang Casidia. My son said the portion was small. Overall good experience. read more

Service was very good! The Cobb salad had cold grilled dry chicken. It was not to my liking. Was offered to replace it, but I declined. French onion soup was overly peppery and had a small slice of cheesy garlic bread on the side. Meh. The onions were cut unevenly and too thick. The server gets 10/10. Please note I did not ask to be comped for the food as it was not to my liking not terrible. Server received 30% tip. read more

I'm the type of person that hates to leave bad reviews, like putting bad energy out in the universe can bounce around and do bad things. But the public deserves a warning to not waste their hard earned $$. The service from our server was so bad! (Yikes! Not wanting to be flinging that negative energy around, but it was so bad!) Like almost comically bad. A party of 5 and we waited so long just to get a drink on a 97 degree day, 15 minutes at least. Then a very long wait to take our orders. The place was not busy at all. I saw only 2 others being served. After we got food there was a drought of historic levels. A drought that never broke!! Thats right, never got a refill nor nary a drop of water in a fortnight! As dehydration set in and lips cracked, I believe I heard crickets a singin' as we waited and waited. A 12 top came in next to us and boy did they get mad after they waited 15 minutes just to get drinks for their group. Food? Okey-ish. And enough tater tots to feed a small country that really loves bland tater tots. Like, wow, that was a lot of tater tots! If they stuck together we could build something with them. But generosity shows up in odd places. Definitely not in the form of life sustaining water or a single ice cube to stave off the devils furnace blowing outside, but definitely it showed up in tater tots...oh, did I mention the waitress was dang near hostile? Yup, and she stood at the bar ignoring her customers almost the entire time. If she was having a bad day, then I truly hope tomorrow is better for her! But please, for the betterment of the hungry and dehydrated, consider a career change before someone completely desiccates and blows away! read more

I used to love Macadoo's pre-COVID. It has severely declined in service and quality of their food. I ordered and arrived home with a over cooked burger, chicken sandwich , and no extra cheese. The manager was like hey come back and drive 30 minutes for something they messed up. No I'm sorry, how can we make this right....sadly this it typical these days. read more

I got the Rueben on a Saturday. The day it was a special. My sandwich was considerably smaller than the others at the table. The taste was good. My chicken Caesar was ok, the chicken needs to be cut smaller and cooked less, and the old croutons sucked. Server was nice, but it was pretty slow. Macados has a good ambiance every time I go. I'm a regular when in town, I usually give this place a 4 in my mind, but lately it seems like quality is dropping. read more

The sandwiches we ordered were good. The waitress was nice but basically nowhere to be found throughout out our lunch experience. We took the bill up to the front cashier station and she said she couldn't help us! We had waited quite a while for the waitress to return. She was nice just not around. Place was fine food was fine. read more

A great place for a late night meal or hanging with friends. It was clean and the waiter was attentive and allowed modifications to menu items. It didn't have as many kitschy items on display as other Macado's or Spanky's but there were some cool large figures of the Simpsons and the JMU Bulldog mascot, Duke. I got cheese fries, bang bang shrimp, and a very cheesy sub - the Gibson Girl with no lettuce or tomato. He got a huge burger - Bacon Egg & cheese. We were so stuffed and we had to take half home. College fall semester hadn't started yet, so it wasn't too loud our rowdy. read more

I liked this place. Kind servers, good food, no wait time. I would reccomend. Blt was a little skimpy on tomato.

I've given this restaurant three chances. Their menu is really creative with their sandwich concept. Unfortunately the food is consistently cold, and the service is slow. I would not recommend. read more

Service was impressively bad- party of 6. sat down at 7ish all was normal through the drink order. We waited a minimum of 35 minutes for drinks I know this because their was a count down on the tv for an nhl game that said 38 mins when we ordered and we got the drinks 2 minutes into the first period of the game alcoholic drinks that is- someone in my party ordered a sweet tea which didn't arrive until about 5 mins after the long wait. We had to get another server to get our server- I wish I had whomever this server was she seemed to be amazing at her job got through two full tables before we even got drinks, tables were sat 10 mins and 20 mins after we arrived. Honestly felt like our server hated us for existing. After we got our drinks we put in our food order which took ANOTHER 40 minutes. At one point the amazing server came over to apologize for our server. She ended up delivering our food to us. The wait between the first drink and the food was so long me and another member of our party had to get up and go to the bar to get any service and we were immediately served. I want to preface my party had multiple people including me who have worked as servers and at first we felt bad but by the end we felt disrespected. As the food arrived pretty much everyone's drinks were empty (besides me and the other who had to go to the bar), so another round. The 2nd round of drinks didn't arrive until the food was completely finished. The server proceeded to come up, blame the bartenders who had previously served me in under two minutes saying the ticket was put in 40 minutes ago and said we could cancel the drinks. we said yes please cancel them and they proceeded to say oh but they are coming out RIGHT NOW are you sure you want to cancel them and Acted like it was going to be a big hassle to take it off the checks. We were there for about 2 hours (conservatively) to get 2 rounds of drinks and an entree. as I've mentioned I've done the exact same job and get it but this service was so terrible I made a yelp account. Overall the server seemed like they couldn't have cared less about our table and just decided we should suffer. no manager anywhere in site the entire time. Also just want to mention my table was being EXTREMELY patient, we wanted to walkout multiple times. The worst part is the server didn't even give their name im assuming it was on the ticket and am kicking myself for not looking. If a manager is reading this, 5th of may 2026 table 3 in the corner when you walk in on the right by the garage doors at around 7 pm. server was around 5'10 had shoulder length hair a nose piercing and black nails. I always have such high hopes when I visit Macado's. I've visited the Harrisonburg and Winchester locations multiple time. Each and every time I am highly disappointed. The wait times are always outrageous. My husband, myself, and our son waited nearly 20 minutes after being seated before we saw our waiter, and another 20 before getting our drinks. Then another hour and a half for 3 very simple orders (salad, burger, wings) and we only received those when we pulled the bartender, who was also our waiter, away from the 2 patrons at the bar and reminded him we had placed and order. It still took an additional 15 minutes for him to bring our orders out. Over 3 hours in total from the time we walked in until we received our check (on a Tuesday evening in April) This type of service during Covid or during a dinner rush could be excused. But each time we have dined at Macado's their staff has been indifferent and the restaurant was practically empty. While the menu is expansive, they are regularly out of many items on their menu and the long wait times don't seem justified. I'm actually surprised that they are still in business and wish they would do better. There is so much potential for them to be a great establishment read more

Waited 10 mins at the door to be acknowledged, waited 20 min to even get someone's attention to see where our waitress was, told they would be right there. Another 10 min no one came, asked a lady at the front desk who had the NASTIEST attitude, she rolled her eyes. Still no waitress. They sat two more people beside us and waitress immediately greeted them! The service is trash and the chick with the nasty greasy bun, should find a different job read more

We visited Macados in Harrisonburg VA for lunch today. Parking lot not that busy. Was seated within 10 minutes. Was told they were short on help, I understand most places are these days. The host and server were amazing! That's the only reason I'm giving 2 stars, otherwise it would be NO stars. Took 45-50 min to get meal. Ordered unsweetened tea, about halfway down the glass I noticed something dark in the bottom. I looked more closely and it was a fly. UGH! My lunch date ordered the Pastrami Reuben. There was a hint of 1000 Island dressing on the bread, there wasn't any sour kraut on it at all. we are so disappointed because we loved having meals at Macados. I hate that we can't find people to work that can take the stress off the ones that do. I'm sure if they weren't so rushed and overloaded things would be different. I do not recommend Macados! Service was great but the food and drink left much to be desired. read more

Omg, what a shit show. We are traveling and decided to stop here to grab something quick. Well obviously this place is under staffed. We sat and waited for a salad a burger and a hotdog for over 45 minutes. The salad was awful hard dried chicken, my son said the hot dog was good, but I can't see how you can mess that up. My husband had a hamburger with some bread that looked like big slab of mushy bread. The bartender we saw her maybe once. This could actually be a nice place if they fired management and for their crap Together. read more

I've visited this location twice, and this last time will likely be my last time. While there isn't one specific thing that I point to, it's just that the overall experience was meh. The theme of sandwiches is creative, although they have a ton of them. The decor feels a little dated. Service was fine when I was there. This last time I had the chicken teriyaki tacos. The lettuce was crispy but the chicken was chicken strips similar to frozen ones that might be from a fast food place. The fries were nice and crispy although lukewarm. read more

This was our second trip to this Macado's. Unfortunately think it will be our last. Both times service was poor. First trip I asked to see a manager and he gave me the excuse that thy were under staffed but I watched people come in and order food to go and get their food before we did. That trip it took an hour and a half to get our food. This trip the restaurant was basically empty we were seated 2 tables around us hadn't been cleared waitress came by and was very attentive until she got our order. Then we didn't see her again not to checknonnour drinks or anything. About 30 to 35 minutes later another waitress came by to tell us our food would be out in about 10 minutes but she didn't ask if we needed drink refills. Food came out about 20 minutes later and we finally got our drinks refilled. Food was good but we didn't see the waitress again until she brought our check then it took 10 minutes for her come back to get our payment. Oh in the almost 2 hours we were there the tables that were dirty when we came in were not cleared nor was any other tables that the people finished and left while we were there nor did they take any dirty dishes from our appetizer from our table, we had to pile them in the center of the table. read more

A shout out to Dustin who made our sandwiches. The Annie Oakley is piled high with fixins'- at least a half inch of each layer. I had to squeeze it tight to fit this monster in my mouth - good stuff! The Crazy Chris is a fancy, no-mess Buffalo wing wrap and a great twist on an old favorite. You can't go wrong with Buffalo and ranch. We also ordered Beer Battered Onion Rings, Chili Cheese Fries, Potato Salad and pickle spears. Everything was good, except the potato salad. It was a little sour and not what I was expecting. Signs are up to wear masks and I did not see hand sanitizer. The bar area had the windows open, for 'al fresco' dining. We sat in the air conditioned booth area under Bono's guitar and picture. We know you put something special in our sandwich Dustin - and if I ever meet you, I'll arm- wrestle you for it! read more

We have been to the Blacksburg/Radford location before (years ago) but this was our first time here. I forgot how good it was! Jess, our bartender, was AWESOME! She was extremely attentive without being overbearing. My husband likes to try different beers/sours so he was asking Jess what they have on tap. She was very knowledgeable in their beers and gave my husband several beer samples, all of which he liked and ended up ordering. Their menu is overwhelmingly extensive so I asked Jess what she would recommend. She really likes The Titanic (basically a French dip) so I went with that. It was amazing. I really think the French bread made it so good - it was soft and fresh. The sandwich was huge and I could only eat half. My husband ordered the Boom Boom burger (jalapeño burger) and commented on how good it was and how fresh the bun was. We ended up hanging out for a while to watch sports and enjoy some drinks. Overall, great atmosphere, amazing staff, delicious food, good people, and a great evening! read more

We were excited to stop here for lunch on our long 9 hour drive; we've been a few times in the past and enjoyed it. This time was a disappointing experience. We waited over 45 minutes for our food, and were beginning to think our order had been lost. Then when it did come out, one of our sandwiches was made incorrectly (on the wrong bread). We let the server know and asked her if it would take a long time to fix it, she said no. Thirty minutes later we still didn't have the other sandwich. The rest of us were finished with our food, and the waitress had not come back to even give us an update on the missing sandwich. When we finally went to find her and ask for the bill minus that sandwich, she said ok but then still hadn't brought the bill over 10 minutes later. We then asked a different waiter who made the situation worse because when we simply asked for the bill minus the sandwich (remember we are over an hour at this place and one person in our party hasn't eaten because she never got any food), he proceeded to say "she's not a bad waitress." I replied, that's fine but we didn't get food we ordered and she hasn't even come back over to update us. And his response was, "people make mistakes." Obviously, dude, people make mistakes, but it was an easy fix so just fix it! Stop making it worse by never bringing the food, never coming over to apologize, never checking on us, and then just trying to defend it when we are getting frustrated. The manager finally came over and while we appreciate that she offered a discount, we still never felt like they actually listened to us - we came in to order food, but someone in our party never got theirs and left hungry an hour and a half later. Pretty frustrating experience and I gotta say that they were not overly busy at all. read more

Stood at the front check in waiting to be seated for 20 mins watching employee walk the long way around just to avoid seating us. Finally got seated after an employee had to bring up for an Uber and we asked if they had any tables open. Employee showed us to the table and walked away without giving us menus and never came back. Sat there for another 20 mins or so before we flag down a server and asked if anyone was coming to are table. The server got an attitude and said "I guess I could". We just walked out was a waste of time read more

It's not often that I do this, but I'm leading with the service. They were slammed with about a 30-45 minute wait. Just like most places, they were understaffed by no fault of their own. Our server was phenomenal. She was very attentive and even though she had a ton of tables, we felt like we were her only one. We were a party of 9 with three kids. I'm sure it wouldn't have been a server's first choice. She was able to keep the drinks filled and communicated with us about the food. We were celebrating a birthday and brought a cake. Unfortunately we didn't bring a lighter or something to cut it with. McKenzie jumped right on it, brought a lighter and a very large knife to cut the cake. Everything we could have asked for in terms of service. Food wise, we got a range of things. I can only speak for myself. I ordered the Big Daddy and was very satisfied. It was a large portion (obviously, the name...duh) with steak and all of the toppings. Juicy and flavorful. The side order of fries were very good and plentiful. Truth be told, my wife and I could have split a meal and would have been more than satisfied. Overall great experience, I will be sure to request her when we return. read more

Today was my second time at Macado's, most of my memories from the first time were from all the interesting decorations and having a good sandwich. That's about what we got today. I got the Carpetbagger which was a steak based sammy, with some macaroni salad and a pickle. It was pretty tasty stuff. It could've definitely had a little more steak, but what I had tasted good. Let me say I love their menu, all those different sandwiches and wraps. It definitely is a spot you have to go to more than once to try different items. The most notable part of our meal was our server, she was fantastic, personable, and just a nice person. I believe her name was Deja, and she did a great job. First and last time for us. We took our son and a friend for an early dinner on a Saturday night. We waited 15 minutes for a table and we're sat. Our server came by after 10 minutes to get drink order and the 10 more minutes to bring waters. Appetizers were ordered. They came after about 35 minutes. Women's bathroom was nasty and smelled disgusting. While we were waiting for our entrees about an hour since they were placed, the server told us there was an emergency in kitchen and restaurant was closing. She left our check on table and told us to leave once they put our meals in to go boxes. We waited another 30 minutes for those. No apology no discount no option to cancel order. Ugh. read more

I got takeout so I can't speak to the dine-in experience but the food here was very good, top notch wraps and sandwiches, hot and delicious. While I had to wait about ten minutes for my food, that's only because I was early. It said it would be ready at 1:40 and it was actually ready at 1:38, so two minutes early.
