The vibes here are so cool! It's a house turned into a Mac shack and it just has a fun vibe to it! There isn't a bad seat! Eating outside would be wonderful! We chose to go upstairs and inside and that was also great! It feels like going to your aunt or grandmas house when you were little! Just such cool vibes! I saw they have some merch, but would love to see some stickers!! The service here was very friendly! Understand they are making everything from your order, so it does take time! Stopped by Mac Nation after a hike near Mount Falcon Park and it was the perfect way to wrap up the afternoon. This place is a hole in the wall roadside spot with a ton of outdoor seating, ideal if you're coming off the trail and want to relax for a bit. When we visited on a Sunday afternoon, they had live music going and the weather was beautiful, which made the whole experience even better. A heads up: everything is made from scratch, so it does take some time. We were quoted a 30-45 minute wait and that ended up being pretty accurate. Honestly, we didn't mind at all, it was great to grab a drink, hang out outside, chat, and enjoy the music while we waited. The portions are huge. I ordered the Philly cheesesteak mac and cheese and it was both filling and really tasty. You can tell they bake each dish fresh, which definitely explains the wait. I've gotten the flight and tried many of the flavors and my favorite is the Wisconsin especially for any cheese lovers. The soft pretzel is another recommendation not for the pretzel but mostly how great the cheese sauce goes with it. I've been wanting to try this location out and I finally went yesterday! The location is really close to red rocks so it would definitely be a good spot to eat before a concert there. I unfortunately went during one of The hottest days and I sat in the inside area which was pretty toasty but they had a fan going. But again, I went on a scorching hot day. I had the panko Mac and cheese and I added bacon and Parmesan on top. It was delicious! I wasn't able to eat it all for lunch but I finished it off for dinner and it was still as delicious. The great cold beer also helped with the heat a little. The service was great and I was checked on a few times which was nice. I would highly recommend if you're in the area. Mac Nation was a lot of fun because it was so close to where we were staying with a friend and going to a Red Rocks show. The people here were all friendly. The food was yummy. Our friend had found this place from a tik tok so it was neat to try a place she had saw online that was so close by that we had never seen before! I tried their buffalo chicken one and thought it was a solid choice Buffalo chicken and blue cheese with cheeses spiral noodles. They are baked and it's a unique dish. My husband Ryan and my friend Danielle each tried a different one. (I don't remember the names but u can see how delicious they look in the video) We all enjoyed it and it was a lot of food... we all had leftovers! It's a little pricey but they are each specially made and baked individually which is also why there is a long wait. They put a sign out warning how long the wait for the food will be. Ours was a little over an hour so just a little longer than the sign said. I didn't know the wait time thing until we arrived there but now I would know for the future. The seating outdoors is close to the road on a corner and cars speed by here so quickly and there's also a lot of deer crossing so be careful everyone... especially with the littles. We visited the first week of October, so the plenty of outdoor seating was nice. The indoor seating was very cutely designed and the bathroom was clean. However, there is only one way to get to most of the seating so trying to navigate through this place is a bit of a hassle. The way to order was very confusing. We ended up talking to others seated around us to ban together to figure out how to place an order. After about 15 minutes of being unable to solve it, I went to order inside, but they told me I must order through the QR code. After finally figuring out how to order (you select the first number as the table, the second as the seat) it took another 35 minutes to get our order. The drinks only arrive with the food too, so we were waiting for those for about 35 minutes too. My husband went out to the car to bring us a bottle of water and was quickly snapped at for going the wrong way to get out of the restaurant (no signs were posted that you couldn't walk that way). Once our food came out the food runner was also very confused about where to take it, along with all the other tables as well. The Mac and cheese was totally fine, but I was expecting the flavor/meat to be mixed through out and not just a thin topping. I also wished we could have ordered smaller sizes. And you really should just stick their pasta because they don't do salads that well. Also, for being called Mac Nation, they should use macaroni not rotini! Service was super slow! I saw this advertised on IG, and knew immediately that I had to take my wife. She's a Mac n cheese fiend. Easy quick drive not too deep in the mountains! I was surprised parking wasn't really hard to get on a Sunday afternoon. Nevertheless I fell in love with the mountain feel of this place. With outdoor seating and being a dog friendly establishment you'll be able to bring the whole fam bam. We were seated quickly and turnaround was pretty quick. They have all kinds of gourmet Mac n Cheese', I had the Michigan chicken bacon ranch with fresh jalapeño while my wife got the Colorado pork green chili. They were so good and you can order to go, take and bake style. But the coolest thing we couldn't indulge in was the Mac n cheese flights. Available only and week days. Both were beyond amazing and tasted so good, the cheese they use for the mac is so good and I would be happy with just plain mac and cheese. I do like as well how they prep the bowls. They bake the mac and cheese so it gets a crust on top then they add the toppings so it isn't all mixed together and you can mix yourself. The server here was super nice as well and definitely knew a lot about the menu. They have tons of seating to but I will say parking can get to be a bit tricky as they have a small dirt lot across the street that can fit about 8ish cars in it then there is a lot to the right but it's for another business. The most unpleasant and unprofessional service I've seen in years and I come from NYC where eating out is a daily occurrence/necessity. To have the service completely overshadow the food and even leave a bad taste in your mouth prior to your first bite...yikes. This one-star review is a direct result of the incredibly poor customer service we received, which is a real shame because the food was good. We arrived just after 6:00 PM and were immediately greeted very rudely by a female cook. She informed us that they were only taking to-go orders and that everyone had to be off the property by 7:00 PM, a full hour before the posted closing time. Despite ordering well before other groups, our food was intentionally brought out at 6:59 PM. The cook's unprofessional behavior was also apparent in other interactions. When we asked what we should do with our open alcohol containers, she just shrugged and walked away. We will be contacting the Colorado Liquor Enforcement Division about this. One of our ordered items was not made, and we were given a substitute without any refund for the price difference. We ended up having to eat our meal across the street. The experience was so negative that we saw three other groups treated the same way. It's clear the cook is setting a bad example for the younger staff member who seems to have no issue with her behavior. Located in the mountains of Indian Hills, Colorado is this lovely hidden gem. You'll be surprised by the interior. Initial order made downstairs in the small little waiting area next to the kitchen. Outside seating available, but the upstairs seating is what surprised me. Limited seating but full of old trinkets, memorabilia, and souvenirs. Not your typical chain restaurant for sure. The food was delicious. Plenty of variety for all taste buds. I sampled a little from everyone's plate and was not disappointed with any. Overall cheesy and just enough flavor of your choosing. The only negative was the chicken in the Big Italy was slightly cool, which made me wonder if they just scooped up some prepared chicken and mixed it in hoping it would heat thoroughly with the rest of the dish. 3.5 Stars Following a drive through Guanella Pass, we stopped at Mac Nation on the way back to Denver. Parking is in the dirt lot across the street. There were plenty of spots when we arrived around 4, but I can see it being a problem at peak hours. There are an overwhelming amount of mac choices, about fifty, and several that will catch your eye. The best way to go is to order a flight. For $15 you choose three different macs specifically noted with an F next to the name and anxiously wait for the concoctions to be delivered to your table. The Colorado was easily my favorite. The pork green chile was phenomenal tossed with the macaroni and cheese. To die for. If I'm ever back I'd order a full plate of this. Idaho came in second with tator tots, bacon, sour cream and green onions. A really tasty concoction along with the mac. All of my other choices are less rave worthy, either being too overpowering in flavor or being too bland. For instance, The Washington (teriyaki chicken) was WAY too sweet and saucey. And the St. Thomas (jerk chicken) didn't taste like much at all, there was hardly any spice or flavor. All in all, a very cool restaurant concept and nice spot up in Indian Hills. read more
