Worst customer service ever! We had the same computer in twice and they declared nothing was wrong...and now it doesn't boot up at all. They charge twice as much as it would cost to send computer in and get repaired online. Clerks are condescending and disrespectful. Save yourself the hassle and get your repairs online. I originally went in here to purchase a new macbook, which i did, listed for 1799, paid over 2100 plus with apple care etc, got home opened the box and realized that these, unlike my 2012 macbook pro are NOT UPGRADEABLE, so i call FOUR DAYS LATER, purchased friday, called monday, to see if i could exchange it for one with a bigger ssd etc, they then informed me there was a TWENTY (20) PERCENT OPEN BOX FEE! I took my IPhone in as I damaged the screen. They take Apple Care. The two guys who were working were both extremely nice. I cannot remember the name of young man who helped me. He ran an Apple diagnostic and it just seemed like my screen was the only thing that needed repair, thank goodness. These two guys were so busy and a line was forming. They were short staffed due to someone calling in sick unfortunately. I know what that can be like. They were both calm, cool and collected, very polite and professional. Very happy with the service from Mac Made Easy. Brought in my Mac Book Pro for repairs on Tuesday was told that it could take the technician 3 days to take a look at my laptop, so I prepared for them to call on me on Saturday or Monday (given that it was Thanksgiving week). I was extremely happy to get a call the very next day from the technician to let me know they have looked at my laptop and what they found. With my approval they started the repair process and said it would be ready by the middle of next week, so I was expecting to hear back from them on Wednesday or even Thursday next week (after the holiday weekend of course). To my surprise I got a call Monday afternoon 2-3 days sooner than I expected saying my laptop was ready to be picked up! Being without my laptop is hard as I use it everyday, so being able to get it back in less than a week (literally 5 days) from the day I brought it in was AMAZING! Not only did they expedite my repair but the staff was also very knowledgeable and friendly; from the front counter person to the technician who I spoke with a few times over the phone. I am so happy that these guys exist. After 6 weeks of Apple screwing up my appointments for a battery replacement (and ALWAYS being out of stock of the part I needed) my computer finally decided to give up and stop turning on. I rely on it for work and went into a full panic... Apple Support was infuriatingly apathetic and after being on the phone with them for hours, their specialists referred me to Mac Made Easy. I spoke to Will on the phone, and in 5 minutes he helped me more than Apple had in weeks. He knew exactly what I needed, and made sure that the part was in stock. When I came in, he went straight to work and Aaron made sure we were welcomed and helped the entire time--they were done in less than half an hour and even fixed a minor issue my laptop was having. I can't thank the team enough for helping me out, they truly did much more than they needed to. It's a standard of customer service that I hope all businesses can take a note from, and I will most definitely be back again. read more

After reading all of the Yelp reviews, I was terrified to take my MacBook here for repairs. I actually read the reviews multiple times and decided to deal with a broken computer until I could get to Oahu. Fast forward 3 months, went to Oahu, and none of the Apple stores were accepting appointments or walk-ins due to COVID. Upon returning to Hilo, I called Apple support in hopes of being able to send my computer in, however that wasn't a service they offered for my screen issue. They informed me that I could take it to Mac Made easy. With no other options left, I decided to give them a call. I spoke to a very kind gentleman who told me to just bring it in, no appointment necessary. I went in the next day and waited no more than 5 minutes to be helped. The staff was extremely friendly, informed me of the process, and told me it would take 5-10 business days to complete the repair. Exactly 5 business days later, I received a call to pickup my computer. Luckily the repair was covered under an extended warranty through Apple and I didn't have to pay a cent! I had the best experience when I went to the Mac Made Easy-Hilo Store. I was so nervous because I purchased a 2017 MacBook Pro from apple (and did not purchase the Apple Care), and my computer screen unfortunately broke. I was worried and didn't know what to do, but I mustered up the courage and took my broken computer to Mac Made Easy and the employees there made me feel so much better. Because they are a certified Apple Store, they immediately assisted me with the broken screen issue. Unfortunately, there were unique issues on Apple's end and Apple sent them the computer back still broken. Mac Made Easy employees were so diligent and took EXTRA care of me and communicated with Apple and Apple ended up fixing the screen that same week. I highly recommend this business because they truly care about their customers and go the extra mile to make sure that their customers are #1. Worst service ever. Took my Apple Watch to Mac made easy 12-3-2020 as my watch new out of the box would turn on and couldn't hold the charge. I was told I was covered under warranty and I didn't have to pay anything and in 3 business days I would find out what was the issue. 3 bus days passed and I contacted them again and was told apple requested the watch back for repairs. Days go by we finally called today and was told it will cost me 386.00 to fix which is more then what it's worth. Called apple they never received my watch or a repair number. I was told the watch was sent in and they don't have it. After being yelled at on the phone when requesting more info I went down and low and behold my watch was just revived back from apple which is a straight up lie. Apple never saw my watch or inspected it. I got my watch back still broken but the service was horrible and the young man who yelled on the phone there is no manager made it even worst. All employees covering for one another when questioned. Don't take your apple products here the service is horrible and I had to threaten to call the cops as I wasn't even contacted for consent to send off to apple and Mac made easy said apple doesn't happy repair numbers which is bull. read more

Beware!! Scam shop!! I took my Mac here to get fixed and I was scammed twice. I needed my computer back so I just paid them and I don't trust to leave my important things with people after a disagreement. The work that needed to be done was a "tier 3" type of work, so I paid half for the diagnostics, which was then applied as credit towards the repair. I picked up my computer, paid, and left. When I plugged in my computer, the problem was still there. I was pissed, I should've made the guy show me that it was fixed before leaving, he didn't even offer to do that either. I paid $137 for a problem that wasn't even fixed. They claimed it was fixed, told me it was vintage so parts will stop working. I brought it back in before the 90 days. It should've been fixed for FREE since the problem wasn't fixed, they ran diagnostics again and found it was a sensor, which could've been the problem from the beginning, but because I said it sounded like another part, they just stuck with it because of the type of work it probably was, which charged more. Told me it was gonna be an additional $60. Again, this should have been FREE since it wasn't fixed. Went to pick it up, they charged me $80. When I asked to speak to the technician, he went home and I would have to leave my computer there and come back, or just pay and talk to him later. Again. I don't trust anyone after a disagreement, especially if they have a NO GUARANTEE that your items that you brought in will be taken cared of!! Can you believe that!! NO GUARANTEE that your items will be taken cared of?? If they broke it even more, they make you sign a paper saying that if they broke it, it ain't their fault, I took a chance cause I needed my Mac to be fixed and this was an "authorized" Apple technician. That is why I paid and took my computer home. DON'T TRUST anyone who can't back-up their work and be responsible if they damaged it even more, which they are "authentic" "authorized" Apple techs, so they should guarantee that your Apple products work since they are "authorized". It's Bogus!! Scammers!! If they can't back-up their work, they are not authorized Apple techs. They can't even guarantee to fix your iPhone screen to work, you don't need to be an "authorized" Apple tech to fix that. There are plenty of places that fix the screen and they can't guarantee that it will work??!! Beware. Don't trust. read more

Went into Mac Made Easy Hilo on Saturday, January 16, 2016 with a girlfriend to look for an external hard drive. There was a gal at the computer and another young, attractive gal with long hair that came out from the back to help us. I told her what I was looking for and that a male worker previously said I could come in and they'd show me how to set up the hard drive and show me how to set it up so it would save everything automatically. The young gal said, "Oh he said that? We don't do that. He must've been the trainer and he's no longer her". She had no smile on her face, spoke in a condescending tone, and showed NO ALOHA SPIRIT. The gal on the computer was of no help either. The young gal then proceeded to tell us that they are short staffed so they can't help us. There was no one else at that time in the store except my girlfriend and me. Then I asked if I could plug in my computer cause my girlfriend said she could try to help me. Young girl hesitantly said "yes", and by that time my friend and I was so disappointed with their lack of enthusiasm to help that we just immediately left. We were talking outside of the store for awhile and the horrible experience we just had when the young gal came walking past us. We stopped her and told her how we felt, and she was apologetic but I'm not sure if she was really sincere. She tried many times to get us to come back in again, but respect was already lost. At the end, she did me a favor because I got an external hard drive from another store where the customer store was excellent and it cost half the price!! When you are a tourist, and all of a sudden, you can't plug the charger into your iPhone, it's hard not to panic. Don't panic, just bring your device here. A wonderfully calm guy fixed our phone FOR FREE! (We were so grateful that we bought an accessory we didn't need.) He then looked up the phone and told us how to get a free phone battery replacement once we get back home. This is a fairly large shop with at least three or four employees work up front and in the back. They are wonderfully easy to work with. We are really glad we found it. Mahalo!! read more

Helpful, simple and much better than going to my phone carrier store. However, the associates in the store are something else.. Some are very kind and helpful, ...while others come off as pretentious and irritated. Instead of being understanding or helpful the associate chastised me for not backing up my data on the cloud while patronizingly explaining what the cloud is. But the other times I've been in the store have been mostly successful and the associates usually give really solid advice. read more

I just left this establishment. I can't explain how upset I am right now. A few days ago, I bought a Ipad pro cover with the blue tooth keyboard ($200). Before I bought it, I showed the sales person a picture of the Ipad that I needed it for. The Ipad was still in it's original box. Well when I gave it to my wife as a gift, she opened it and tried to hook it up to her Ipad. It wouldn't fit. We took it back to Mac Made Easy to return it. The manager Henry Chung Easterling told me that he's going to charge me 15% ($30) restocking charge because we opened the box. I explained to him that they're the ones that made the mistake in selling me the wrong item. He said it really doesn't matter because how would I feel if I got sold an item that was previously opened. I got really furious with that answer. Even the two other customers that were in there couldn't believe that explanation. I also explained to him that being a small business owner myself, I've always tried to support the local businesses. I even bought 3 laptops and a few Apple Tv from them. He really didn't care. Well after arguing with him for about 15 minutes, he said he's going to make an exception for me and charge me only 5%. This still didn't sit well with me. I told him you understand that you're charging me $10 for a mistake your store made. He said he understands but that's all he can do for me. I can't believe that he acknowledged that the store made a mistake but yet still charged me $10. Again, even the two customers in there couldn't believe it too. I was tired of arguing with him and told him just charge me the $10 because I am so done with this store. I will not support them any more. My wife is also a purchaser for an elementary school near by and she said she will make sure they don't purchase anything from them any more. This $10 will cost them a lot more in the future. So customers beware. Make sure you buy the right item. Even if the sale person tells you it's the right item, they will charge you 15% if it's not. ANY COMPANY WITH THIS KIND OF ATTITUDE DOES NOT DESERVE THE LOCAL SUPPORT. BUY DIRECT THROUGH APPLE. IT'S CHEAPER TOO. read more

They make computer repair real easy. I didn't need to make an appointment,, I just dropped off my laptop for them to look at. My computer was locked up , they took care of it and I haven't had a problem since. I took my computer in for a check-up when it was running slower than usual since it was still under warranty. They told me all the steps they did aand how to watch out for possible issues. Bought an iphone from them as well and they took care of all the syncing with my laptop. read more

Awesome service, patient, and very thorough. Michael H is the bomb! Took my apple watch in and they fixed what they could overnight. A day after picking it up, something went wrong again so i came back the next day. Michael immediately recognized me and put me at ease for my watch. He was quick to action, very genuine, and made sure i understood my options. We ended sending the watch to apple and got it replaced within the week. My experience here was by far worth it and it's amazing how well they handle the other customers no matter how small or big their situation is. They have a decent selection of small components and things that a Mac user needs from time to time, plus the usual stock of Macs. What they don't have is a welcoming or helpful manner. The times I've been in there I've always had the strong feeling of somehow not being cool enough. I'm over 70 . . . but before you roll your eyes, I've also been working with computer hardware and writing code for almost 35 years, and with various Macs since the mid-90s. I've had a G5, a couple of Mac Pros (both modded), iMacs, more Macbook Pros than I can count, and so on. I've been inside half a dozen iMacs to swap out drives. It's not even close to being my first Mac rodeo. But at Mac Made Easy, I get what feels like the "old fart who's probably on AOL" treatment. And I don't like it. I sent a mid-sixties woman (not at all computer literate) down there for an iPad and she walked out, feeling totally dissed (she went straight to Verizon to get what she wanted). Another thing that annoys me. I'm in their system, with a Hilo number and a Hilo address. When I buy something, I say that I'm in the system and each time my data pops up on their screens. So what's with asking me for ID when I use my credit card? I'm not a guy who ever says any flavor of "Do you know who I am?" The problem is that they seem to think they know who I am. They don't. I'd love to support a local business, but the truth is that unless I need something quickly, I'll be using Amazon. read more
