Holy Toledo! There aren't many places that serve great fried seafood and chicken, but Nad's…read moreabsolutely delivers. If you're looking for perfectly fried comfort food, I highly recommend giving this place a try. I ordered the Chicken & Fried Shrimp Basket with the standard fries. I could have chosen coleslaw instead, and in hindsight I probably should have since I'm not much of a fry person. But the real star here is the fried food. Both the chicken and shrimp were cooked perfectly--crispy, golden, and packed with crunch in every bite without being greasy. I'm also a huge sauce fan, so I had to sample a few. I tried the ranch, garlic Parmesan, and Nad's Sauce. The clear winner for me was the garlic Parmesan. It was absolutely delicious and paired perfectly with both the chicken and the shrimp. The service was just as impressive as the food. The staff was incredibly friendly, took the time to walk us through the menu, and checked on us several times throughout our meal. Since you order at the counter and then find a seat, that extra attention really stood out and made us feel welcome. Great food, great service, and a place I'll definitely be coming back to!

Hidden Gem in Tempe, Arizona!…read more My sister and I visited this restaurant yesterday, Saturday, August 29, after seeing it featured by a food reviewer on TikTok, and we are SO glad we decided to try it! This newer restaurant is located in Tempe, Arizona, in a shared parking lot next to several other businesses, including Dunkin' Donuts and a sub shop. When we walked in, there was open seating, so we were able to choose our own table. It wasn't crowded at all, which made for a very relaxed and enjoyable experience. The restaurant has only been open for about a year, and from the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming. The music was great, the décor was nice, and everyone we encountered was friendly, kind, and down-to-earth. Our waitress, Tam, was absolutely AMAZING! She was personable, attentive, and gave us some really great recommendations on both food and drinks. And let's talk about the HAPPY HOUR! They offer happy hour EVERY DAY from 12 PM-4 PM, including weekends! That was a huge bonus for us because so many restaurants don't offer weekend happy hour. We definitely wanted to take advantage of it since this was our first visit. Here's what we ordered: Belgian Waffle & 3 Fried Chicken Wings -- The waffle came with whipped cream and a strawberry on the side. Delicious! Happy Hour Dance Basket -- $8 -- Fried okra, French fries, and onion rings. We added lemon pepper seasoning on top, and it was SO good! Fried Catfish Basket with Chicken Wings & Fries -- Another great choice! Mocktail -- We were also able to enjoy a complimentary drink because an extra one had been prepared for us, which was such a nice surprise! One of the highlights for us was meeting one of the cooks who was working in the back. The interaction honestly made us feel like we were back home in the Midwest, like one of our own family members was in the kitchen cooking for us. That type of genuine hospitality is hard to find! They are open very late, until 4 AM, which is another great option if you're looking for somewhere to grab food late at night. They also have Soulful Sundays starting at 3 PM, with specials featuring items like jerk chicken, oxtails, and more! Definitely check their website ahead of time for the latest specials, hours, and offerings. Overall, we had such a wonderful first experience. Great food, great service, great music, welcoming people, and reasonable specials. We would LOVE to see a location like this in the West Valley! Thank you again for such a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back!

Their business page lists a near midnight (11:45pm) closing, while the hostess told us Sundays are 10pm. That's an issue by itself. Anyhow, we traveled a distance, so arriving well before business hours ended and being unable to dine was extremely disappointing. The hostess was polite, and I don't fault her personally, she delivered the message kindly, but staffing issues aren't the customer's responsibility. Unfortunately, the experience was a one-star experience for us. Lastly, if you plan to head to George's CALL BEFORE YOU HEAD OUT!

Mixed emotions on this restaurant for now. I have been reading about "Cookin on Wood" for a while…read moreas a restaurant that is close to the airport, offers food at decent prices and seems to be popular. I have only eaten here once and the meal was ok. I stopped in for a daily special that was a "chicken Philly". I took one bite and had my doubts. The sandwich was "wet" for starters and came out really quick. This indicates to me that a whole bunch of the chicken, onion and green pepper was cooked ahead of time and kept warm until an order was put in. The chicken seemed like ground chicken, kinda chunky, and the cheese was American and put underneath the chicken mixture. I was expecting a sandwich to be grilled fresh and made with sliced chicken with cheese melted on top. The restaurant does not have much seating but is very clean and the cashier was friendly. As for their name "Cookin on Wood" I am going to assume for now that it is a play on words since they are located on a street named Wood and I saw some bbq grills out front but there was no smell of burning wood or meat inside or outside this restaurant.

The ATL dry rub was probably my favorite of the two wing flavors. It had a ton of flavor without needing any sauce. I also really liked the Mango Habanero BBQ. It had a good mix of sweet and spicy, although I was expecting it to be a little hotter based on the name. The fries were actually my favorite part of the meal. A friend recommended getting the ATL dry rub seasoning added to them and that made them so much better. They give you a pretty big portion too and I would definitely get them the same way again. We got our food to go, but the service was great. Everyone was really nice and they had our order ready surprisingly quick. From what I saw while we were inside, everything seemed really clean as well. Overall ATL Wings is a really good option when you're craving wings. They have a ton of different sauces and dry rubs to choose from and the portions were good. The seasoned fries alone are worth coming back for.
