I recently was in a wedding and got my makeup done for the first time by somebody I didn't know. I was a little sketch at first because I didn't want to look caked on like some I have seen working at mac. The girl who did my makeup (Lauren) did an amazing job. She was very nice, patient with me and my requests. I gave her a picture and she did exactly what I wanted. I could never do my own makeup the way she did it. I got so many compliments and wish I can do my makeup like that every day. I felt like a Celebrity haha! I loved my makeup so much that I bought some product she used on me. I bought long wear lipstick, mineral powder and a finishing spray. Although I live an hour away I got Laurens contact info just in case I'm in need of a makeup artist in my future. Vanessa is an absolute sweetheart, she had a very warm and welcoming vibe which is very important to me. I came in needing to find my winter shade since I was clearly not as tan as I was in the summer. She asked me if I needed help and I explained my situation. So she gave me a wipe to take off my makeup and sat me in her chair and she put on the lighter makeup I need to look normal again. She even showed me a new blush to warm up my pasty white skin and I had to buy it. I hope she's there to help me out next time! read more

I got my Christmass present early! Lanette is thee greatest at the MAC counter! Lanette knows the product well,tells me what colors are good with my skin,and goes into detail and showed me how to do a great smokey eye!!! Lanette is AWESOME! Not a fan of this counter. I've had good and horrible experiences here. I'd rather drive to Nordstroms or order online to be honest. Too many people, which is good for business, but not good for customers that will actually purchase something. A lot of young teenagers getting makeup done but not buying anything...also, a lot of rude customers. Sales people are okey, but mostly snobby in my opinion. I usually come in knowing what I need and ask for suggestions on what I should add to my purchase, but for some reason the sales people don't jump on the opportunity to sell more. My advice is to smile, and help those that will actually buy something and learn to weed out those that are hanging around for freebies. read more

I have never written a yelp review because I don't care all that much about the places I go, but I am writing this to tell you that --- Jeremy is the best employee there!! --- I am not much of a makeup person at all, but I went today looking for some long lasting red lipstick; Jeremy came to help me right away and he was SO helpful! He also got me hooked on a few other items, and I honestly think his warm and outgoing personality is 75% the reason I purchased more than I was planning. They ended up not having the lipstick I wanted in stock but Jeremy was so on top of things and making phone calls, all to help me get my perfect lipstick ordered. I left feeling so great and I was just so happy with the service from Jeremy. Make sure you go when Jeremy is there because he is so great at his job -- the best! read more

This was the worse customer service I have ever had. I made a appointment to get my makeup done at 2pm. I arrived at 1:50pm because I hate making anyone wait for me. A appointment is a appointment in my book. So I checked in and the lady said they would be right with me. She then went to the other lady and pointed at me and so I assumed that she was the one going to do my makeup. The other girl came back to me and said she would be doing your makeup and she would be right back. I figured she was getting her makeup ready. But I would think that if they know their appointments that they would be ready. Boy was I wrong. So i continued to sit there and wait not a big deal remember I was early. So it was about 1:57pm and I saw her walking towards us. But I was wrong she turn and went behind a door. Oh well so I waited. Another lady came on and asked me if I needed help it was 2:07 now I told her I had a appointment at 2pm she then asked around and they told her that it was the other girl to do my makeup. So she came back t me and said she would be right out. Now it is 2:15 I am a little upset that this lady decided to take her break or do what she feels she had to do right when I got there. I then got up and went to the counter and told the lady that I was leaving and I would reschedule, which was a lie. The lady then said she will be right out any minute I said at this point I don't care I have been waiting for over 20 minutes and she seems to busy to help me. The girl said it only takes 40 minutes to do your makeup, like this is why we give the girls a hour so they can keep you waiting. Not once did anyone apologize for anything. I was so upset because I had plans that night that was a big deal to me. I know she doesn't care what I was doing it is just a job to her but people need to realize you never know what is going on in other people life. And I was not going to tip this lady that made me wait. My bill would have been almost $100 and would of tipped $25 and there was no was I was going to do that. To make it even worse i emailed the company and told them my story because I really like to go to the source first to try t solve issues. I don't like to yelp unless no one cares. Well here I am writing here because did not get a response from anyone waited over a week oh well this is why they give that kind of service. I will not be back to that Mac in Macy's. Stopped by today because I was in the mall and needed to exchange my compact. Area is really small but it is to be expected because it is a slow traffic mall. The make up artist don't seem to know how to do their own make up... Not trying to be rude but it just seemed odd to me that there make up was so plain and no effort was put on their look. I asked one of the workers there to show me the bronzers and he gave me two different options. I'm very pale so I have to be careful on how dark I go... I tell him I'm not sure on the colors and would like to see how they look on my face... So he just hands me a make up brush lol. I was like hmm okay I guess I'm doing this myself. Came into this MAC store to buy a specific lipstick. I asked a male staff member ( dark facial hair, light skin, between 5'10-6'0) if I could purchase the lipstick. He asked if I wanted to purchase the lip liner as well. I wasn't sure so I asked him to try it on me. I sat down and he began to clean one of his brushes. I didn't mind that he sprayed the cleanser on my glasses that I placed on the table in front of me or that he was chit chatting with his co-workers about how there were lip liner shavings on the ground and they were being smeared by his co-workers shoes but while I just sat there, waiting for him to try on the products he began talking about how his floors at his home had been replaced/remodeled and by that time I had had enough. My time is valuable, I have other things to do. Listening to others chit chat about their lives until they feel like taking their job semi seriously is not one of them. Don't go to this MAC. I have gone to this Mac counter 3 times & each time they were so rude. I needed new eyeliner & girl suggested one I had already tried , when I told her it wasn't one I liked, she just made a rude comment. Next time, couldn't even get anyone's attention or help. 3rd time the salesgirl passed me off to someone else, they both acted like I was a bother. Put on eyelashes & they were falling off in 5 minutes. They refuse to listen to what you want. Treat you like you're stupid. Did horrible job on eyeshadow and give you a terrible attitude. I'm not surprised to see that there is another great review on the same makeup artist that did my makeup, LANETTE. I asked her to do a c3po look for a star wars party and she went over and beyond what I was expecting! She did an incredible, detailed job. She asked if I had any ideas in mind, but just told her I wanted something along the lines of a gold-beauty look and she used her artistic talent from there. Okay. Here's my reason for 5 stars (I don't want to offend anyone. Just my opinion). First I love Mac and other brands. When collections come out they usually sell out right away. I really didn't want this specific pallete it sold out online within hours like I knew it would. Moving forward I see the pallete my BFF's bought the colors are stunning knowing I'd never get one now. (And I don't do ghetto ebay). I went to two very upscale malls that I buy my Mac from I knew the pallete would be gone and these pro stores are always super busy. Then I got a great idea. I said to my BFF's let's try a little less (cough) up scale mall as soon as I walked in I asked. Boom yes they did two left. I bought it and left. And the store was not as crowded as the ones I go to. And being in Macy's may have helped. No disrespect to this mall. The sales girl was quick and helpful. I went to the Westminster Mall's Mac counter to get my makeup done for SENIOR PHOTOS, it's kinda important that I don't look like a french hore. So not only did they take 1 and a half hours to do my make-up but they put 4 layers of foundation on my face... My mom watched the whole thing and it looked like the two girls who were working on my makeup were like students or something because they clearly had no idea what to do... I had to go to my senior photos right from the Mac counter because they took so long,so i didn't have time to go home and fix my makeup. I ended up taking all my makeup off at the photo studio using 6 wetwipes... even the photographer hated my makeup and he is a professional... unlike these "Mac Artists".. read more

I made an appointment to get my makeup done with a random artist because my usual artist relocated to another mac store. So I got to my appointment on time I was introduced by my artist, I was open to a new artist. Everything went ok at first but then it all went down hill! First of all she didn't start my makeup until 20mins later after my appointment time. I showed her a picture and it looked like she was struggling to pick out makeup for the type of makeup look I wanted. She claims she's been doing makeup for 6 years? Sure doesn't seem like it! After she was done with my makeup. I did not like my lip color & wanted to change it. Her response was, "see you should've told me to try the color on your lips first before I actually put the whole color on your lip, I am not going to take it off!" Well that B#%*$ didn't even bother asking if I wanted to try it on, she just did it under her preference not the "CUSTOMER". I thought I was getting my makeup done not the artist! Unlike my usual makeup artist, after she was done she would ask "is there anything you WANT to change, you can be picky". This artist is RUDE, gave me bad attitude because I wanted to change a lip color? Then she told me she's been doing makeup for a long time & she knows better and my trust level is not there. Like WTF aren't I paying for my makeup done trick?! And yes I don't trust anyone especially a makeup artist with little talent! It's what the customers want NOT the artist! I will never go to the Westminster Mac again because all the artist there are full of themselves & needs to adjust their attitudes! I will go to my usual Mac place where there is much NICER people.
