I had the pleasure of getting my hair and make up done by Quyen this past Friday. I came in looking plain and by the end of the appointment, I looked beautiful and glamorous !! She made my skin look so flawless and smooth. My eyebrows perfectly shaped. She even made my flat lips looking plump! Wonderful cut and color! I usually come to this salon for haircuts from Quyen, but for the past few months I've been wanting to do something different with my hair so I asked her about dying it light purple. She was clear from the start on what the process would look like, how long it would take, how much it would be and her suggestions for it. It was a long process (nearly the whole day) as expected but worth it! (See attached pictures) I went from virgin hair to purple ombré in one session! I had my hair and makeup done last year for my wedding by Chi Quyen and it turned out amazing. We had a trial run for my engagement celebration and even that turned out wonderfully. I had a lot of compliments during both my engagement party and my wedding. My wedding was on a Sunday and Chi Quyen was willing to open the shop that morning for me. Truly and honestly, I was really worried since I've never been here before & cause I was planning to get a bob ( and truly things can go wrong!) but oh... my.. gosh. This small business is located near a busy intersection, so use caution and be alert while driving. The parking lot is small, but I've never had a problem finding a spot. The salon is very clean and comfortable. I really like the chair used for shampooing hair. I usually get neck cramps when my hair is washed, but I always feel super relaxed and somewhat sleepy when getting my hair shampooed at Salon Q. Quyen is a very busy lady, but she's always one of the few people I trust with my flat, lifeless balding Asian hair. Prior to getting my haircut here, I used to drive to San Dimas-- but life got busy and I just couldn't fit that into my schedule anymore. She definitely listens to what you want, but also makes suggestions if you're making bad choices. I appreciate that! :) She's also very sweet and friendly, but not overbearing in any way. Asked what I wanted done and I asked for a 2-once cut, layers, and to thin out my hair ( I have super think hair that gets very heavy). Well I found my hair colorist in Quyen. First of all, she was a referral from my make up artist so that was a great start. Then I hop on yelp and she's already a superstar on here. Let me share with you my experience. Came in on a Friday morning (she opened an hour early just for me!). I have brassy highlights, about a billion different colors from trying to find the right stylist and I wanted the impossible...gray highlights. Essentially a whole new color. I've inquired with other salons and they've all said I will need multiple visits to achieve that look. What a load of BS! They just want more money bc Quyen did it in one sitting. Six hours later, I have the most gorgeous color of ash blonde, gray and dark brown hair. My hair is soft and undamaged even with the bleaching. She is freaking talented!!!! Quyen is still my favorite stylist - even after a couple of years and relocating to a different city, I still come back to my girl!!! I'm at the point where I trust what she says and don't bother bringing in a photo for example. I just give her really vague directions (lmao I'm the worst) and she just does it! Ive been seeing Chi Quyen for a little over 2 years, and she's wonderful. She puts up with all my crazy colors and constant bleaching, glad I've settled down since then. My hair was so damaged prior to meeting her, and i had around 7 shades of blond in my hair, it took time, but Chi Quyen fixed it. Her hands are really magic. My sister and I see her regularly now, and i honestly will not trust anyone else with my hair. I have fine, thin, wispy hair that is prone to breakage, add constant bleaching in that, and you can imagine how damage it can get. but i'm happy to say, it's long, healthy and strong because of chi quyen. she really cares about your hair, it bothers her when the results are not perfect. you go to her once, and you won't want anyone else touching your head. read more

What can I say, Quyen was amazing, she took her time asking me what I really wanted. I showed her a picture of what I want my hair to look like. But besides from referring only the picture she took the time to ask me how I want my haircut and color to look like. When i have finally decided, she made sure that I had something to eat, since I would have a lengthy process. My hair was in a bad shape. (Side note: to all noobs on getting their hair balayage/ombre, expect longer than 4hours or so because it's not instant, it's a process and it takes time) She was patiently doing my hair, and I kid you not I have a lot of hair. The foil process for mine took 3 hours and not once did I see her take a break, I felt bad, but she was super nice and said that she was okay. She made sure I was comfortable, she asked if I needed a break. I said im okay. Fast forwarding to the end, the color turned out amazing, she got the color I wanted and more. I like that you don't get suffocated by the smell of chemicals or hair products. I usually request a subtle look when attending events. I've had both Wendy and Quyen do my hair/makeup. They are very skilled and will help you look your best. The process can take up to two hours so plan accordingly. The makeup products they use are good quality and suitable for all skin types. The application of strip lashes are also included. I would advise to bring a photo of the look you want on the day of your appointment. I came here to get my hair done for a wedding I was attending. Wendy did an amazing job with my hair! I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she did a good job achieving the look! Wendy did not rush through my appointment and was very accommodating when I asked her to fix areas I wasn't happy with. I also told her my hair was stubborn when it comes to holding curls and I liked that she kept that in mind by using a different curling iron and more hairspray for me. My hair do stayed all night which is very rare! Thank you Wendy! Although Quynh, the salon owner, did not work on my hair, I was able to observe and admire her work ethic while I was there. She knows how to deal with difficult customers and knows how to make them happy when they leave her salon. I came in very conflicted on what exact color I wanted but Trang was very patient, helped me choose the perfect color.
