A lovely little breakfast (open at 8am), brunch, and lunch spot in downtown Poulsbo. We just discovered it and will be going back. Very French menu. Everything is house made with care, dedication, and love. Best brunch we have had since we lived in San Francisco where, due to crowds and parking, brunch is a blood sport. Thankfully, no problems like that here. Finding this place made our day. read more

This is a an amazing little place in a small town! Wife and I split a couple brioche breakfasts items and a danish. All the items were premade for display, but you wouldn't have guessed with how incredibly tasty everything is. The dough is flaky on the outside and soft on the inside. Our brioche breakfasts items were perfectly salted, and each item fit perfectly with the design of the dish. And the dark chocolate hot chocolate was nuts. Very rich but not sweet! Loved the staff, everyone was so welcoming! And I love the ambiance of the place with a few board games like chess and a new dice game I've never played before that was super fun while we waited for our sandwiches. I think the croissants are some of the best croissants I've ever had, they're a MUST try! We got the butter chicken schnitzel and Vietnamese bahn mi. While both were good (especially the bahn mi), I would say they are nothing like the title. Not butter chicken and not a bahn mi: the butter chicken had no sauce and was just a normal chicken sandwich, and the banh mi was a normal croissant sandwich. But we were still satisfied with our meal! (I don't recommend the butter chicken schnitzel, it was a bit bland. But every other sandwich looked lovely!) read more

Easily one of the best pastries I've ever had. A charming interior and very friendly and helpful staff. I stopped in after a large lunch so was only able to try one pastry but it was extraordinarily good. The pistachio raspberry tart had buttery crumbly crust, a light flavorful pistachio filling and delicious raspberries. I wish I was in town longer to try more of their pastries! read more

My boyfriend and I popped in here for a quick snack and we were absolutely stunned with how good the food was. (Not pictured) We had their breakfast sandwich and their seasonal turkey and brie sandwich. We then finished with the raspberry tart which was good. I think I've had more than half the menu and everything has been amazing. Best things we've had are Croque Monseuir, vanilla berry brioche, and anything with their house chocolate. Also the European hot chocolate is ridiculously good. Super cute and cozy place. And the staff are the nicest people ever. read more

We stopped by on a Sunday within 30 mins of closing. Great customer service, still had a good selection to choose from this late in the day. Tried an iced chai tea, had a unique flavor with the perfect amount of sweetness. I couldn't tell if I liked it or not so I had someone else try it without telling them what it was. They said it tasted like water down horchata with something else, they didn't care for it. The pastry we got was so delicious. This will be one of our regular stops when we are in the area. read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed this gem. I have been here several times. It's wonderful. I've had the tuna melt which is sooo delicious. Several pastries. It feels like an expensive place. They seem to experiment a lot. Last time I was there I got a brownie and iced mocha. The 'brownie' had an interesting frosting. It was an ok mocha. The time before that, I had their millionaire bar and iced chai. (Also had a little bit of what my parent had.) The bar was very messy. Didn't really like their chai. I kept trying it thinking it'll grow on me, but it didn't. I'm interested in trying their other things. Maybe even something for lunch there. They're pretty quick with putting together our orders. I think the person that's been the cashier when we've gone has been nice. She said she tries to remember the regulars' names. I like that. read more

My first visit but will not be my last. Today I had a Reuben panini. Seemed a bit expensive at $14 but it was so good, definitely worth the $$. It had such great cheese and enough meat and kraut to make a great sandwich. They also have some real good sauce and seasoning. As a friend of Sluy's and a longtime supporter of ChocMo...I find myself between the proverbial rock and hard place! Ah, but when it comes to baked goods and chocolate; well there's room for one more. I stopped in today just to see what's up at my once long ago favorite bakery. They made world class pies, RHS owners retried sometime ago and the space has been in constant change since then. Okay, enough Poulsbo history. This place was busy and the desserts looked amazing so we bought a couple shortbread cookies. Neither Sluy's nor chocMo make anything similar so my weaknesses can be forgiven. This is no ordinary great shortbread cookie. This is a sandwich built on a shortbread cookie. The dark chocolate top is stellar by itself as is the creamy caramel filling and the shortbread foundation is out of this world. I will be back in search of another tasty bit that's not on the menu at the others. Service was good despite all the customers. Yes they do have coffee drinks, sandwiches and the like too. Not sure why we waited so long to try this place out. For some reason, I thought it was only a coffee shop. Don't make the same mistake I did. If you're in Poulsbo, you'll want to try this place out. My son and I had the open faced shakshuka. Very different than most. Served on a piece of thick bread and spiced to perfection. My wife had the vegetarian sandwich which looked very good. It's difficult to save room for pastries when Sluys Bakery is so close but you'll want to share a tasty morsel here. You can thank me later. Felt like the staff was no nonsense but welcoming. The decor makes you feel like you're eating at a friend's house. Definitely will be coming back for more. read more

Pastries in America are terrible, until now. Chef Tae and Chef Thomas' latest creation, this Pâtisserie, chocolaterie, and cafe brings true European dessert quality to America, and in tiny Poulsbo to boot! They also have some amazing sandwiches and other lunch items like a tasty Scotch egg. They used to be in Bainbridge Island with L'Atellier TR, but sold that to another company. The space of their new creation is delightfully informal, with relaxed, yet chic decor. But it's really the pastries that shine. So many delicious things to eat here! My husband and I walked past this place so many times before we tried it. I wish I had tried it sooner. It has been on my mind since I ate there last weekend. In fact, I tried to go there today and was sad to see it was closed (Tuesdays and Wednesdays closed). Anyway, when I ate there we tried many things. We had the herbed Dijon Chicken pastry and it was very tasty. My husband and I split a Reuben and a Croque Monsieur both of which were absolutely fantastic--warm and gooey without being too messy or heavy. I am still dreaming about those! I also had a delicious, dreamy, wonderfully foamy Latte and a Pistachio Cherry Panna Cotta that was a win. Love a place that has pistachio anything! Will be back very often! Not only is the food simply amazing--all house made fine pastries and other goodies--it's beautifully inside. A place to seek refuge from our 'always in a rush' world. Delicious! The smell from outside drew us in. We had pastries, a Lucious hot chocolate and 3 out of 4 sandwiches. We could tell immediately that the bread was made in house. Everything is made in house! Bright and clean. Staff are inviting and chatty. We can't wait to go back for more. read more

While not overly impressed, I can appreciate a solid spot with fresh donuts and pastries managing high traffic. Line tends to be long but moves at a moderate speed, as the employees are open to chatting. Large Butterhorn - excessively sweet to a point where I felt sick of sugar because it's also pretty big. I personally would rather eat a fluffy donut because this felt more like a condensed block of sugar, but seems to be a favorite for others. Might just not be for me. Swedish Almond Pastry - while this was also super sweet, the almond flavor was able to pop out at times. Sliced almonds on top helped sprinkle some extra flavor but were ultimately consumed by the sweetness. A little flakier in texture which helped dissociate with the dense sugar block.

I bought a bag of gummies from Denmark. I should have asked its price. Was shell shocked that this bag cost me $25.xx some dollars. i didn't think it would be that expensive. And...they're OK. Interesting. Not overwhelmingly great, but OK. Expensive because they are imported. The fudge was the same. I sampled the chocolate peanut butter and something else. It was good. Not fantastic. Disclaimer: I'm not a great fan of fudge in general. But I do know good fudge when I taste it. I also bought two truffles--at $4.50 a piece! They are big, about 1-3/4" in diameter. Surely, at $4.50 a pop they would be excellent, right? There many delicious sounding flavors. The two I settled on were the dark chocolate and the peanut butter chocolate. Strangely, could not even taste any peanut butter. They were good. Not great, though, and definitely not worth $4.50. But I guess that's the cost of a tourist coastal town. Not as good as a See's chocolate truffle or the truffle bars you can get here in Utah. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? Stay away at all costs!

They said yes but they were closing in a few minutes. We were about 10 min out. My husband told them the baby was being born tonight so they said they would stay open for us!! This store a has a variety of candies, house made fudge and warm, candied nuts! It was really cute inside and I will definitely be back. Is it worth the drive?...yes!

Excellent coffee…read more Amazing views. Fantastic staff. When in Poulsbo, stop by for a bit and enjoy a full bodied, local roast, a scone or other breakfast item, and the beautiful water view. Parking is in the public lot nearby. Seating is limited. All drinks are served in take-away cups. I would have preferred my 'dine-in' beverage in a mug, b ut it was still ezcellent. Definitely a good stop.

Beyond the normal sorts of products you might expect in a standard corner market, this shop had tons of specialized products, mostly emphasizing "nordic" content. They have a great selection of mustards (mostly German). A fine selection of meads, mostly Danish, but also domestic. And probably the best selection of licorice I think I've ever seen in an American store, more than an aisle focused on licorice. There are the standard varieties, but also some serious salted varieties, including ones I haven't seen outside Finland. Also, lots of other German sweets and chocolates. The staff was really friendly and helpful, and shared my enthusiasm for the great stuff they carried. Well worth a visit. Who knows what you'll end up getting!

Their customer service is inconsistent which keeps me away. Each time I go back I regret it. Today on my way to work I stopped. I pulled up and was car number two, NO other cars! The vehicle ahead of me was a flatbed type truck. I sat behind the truck for 3 minutes before the chit chat ended and the vehicle moved forward. As I pulled forward the barista went to her station and the cashier took my order. I pulled around and sat behind the truck as the barista and driver continued to chit chat. I watched as the driver was handed his drink, the truck did not drive off. It sat there as the barista made my coffee. Once it was done, the truck pulled away and there my drink sat on the counter. It was handed to me with no thank you or words said. What a way to start my workday! Unbelievable poor customer service! I'm done with Urban City!

They offer options at every price point, from the stuff you could buy at the grocery store to ultra rare - and super expensive - items. My husband chose a fancy whiskey and I snagged a bottle of local raspberry-infused vodka... YUM! Oh, I also have to mention the service. The handful of gentlemen working there when we stopped in were amazing. They were so kind and friendly, welcoming us in for our first visit. They were also incredibly knowledgeable on just about everything in the store... definitely schooled us! Loved it! We are so excited to know about High Spirits and will absolutely go there instead of grocery store or BevMo shopping. Highly recommend!
