We've lived here since 2021 and hadn't stopped into High Spirits until this week - late December 2024 - what the heck were we waiting for?! Their selection of beer, wine, and liquor are amazing. I always figured they'd have overpriced snooty stuff, but I was so wrong. They offer options at every price point, from the stuff you could buy at the grocery store to ultra rare - and super expensive - items. My husband chose a fancy whiskey and I snagged a bottle of local raspberry-infused vodka... YUM! Oh, I also have to mention the service. The handful of gentlemen working there when we stopped in were amazing. They were so kind and friendly, welcoming us in for our first visit. They were also incredibly knowledgeable on just about everything in the store... definitely schooled us! Loved it! This place is great! I was helped immediately and efficiently. The person who waited on me (possibly the owner?) knew exactly what I was asking for, and went to get it ready. He also informed me that it was in short supply, which prompted me to get 2 bottles. Lots of inventory here ; really good selection of products. Nice selection of the common and the less common stuff. They were out of stock of some of the rarer stuff - but hey, we get it. They can also order stuff in for you. Prices are good, but everything is definitely a notch above your typical liquor store. It's nice and bright, clean, a bit fancy/upscale. It makes you want to take your time to shop, and to come back. Would you look at that, they also do tastings and special events! The staff was eager to help. First of all this place is like an adult's candy store if you are into spirits. They had so many bottles that I didn't think were available in the local area that I didn't think it was possible. So if you are looking for something special check them out. Now, the other part of this is your going to pay for it too. WA liquor tax is the highest in nation, but needless to say their bottle prices are on the high side. But that is the case with many other stores too. Buyer beware! They offer a nicely curated list of spirits- specifically the whisky and bourbon selection. You will find a good selection of cask strength, hard to find bottles, and locally available distilleries like 2Bar. Walking through this place I was in awe. They have an amazing selection of whiskeys and rums... and probably other stuff, but my focus was on the whiskey and rum. I found a Willett reserve rye and I am so happy I was able to grab it. I have seen this bottles in Instagram, but never in person. I dont buy a lot of expensive whiskey, but I do enjoy having some nice whiskeys in the house. I will have to peek in here from time to time for sure. read more

It's unusual for me to "round up" a review to a five. Especially when a business' claim to value is not directly associated with an art or craft. But, I've already mentioned how impressed I am with this cluster of family businesses. So, I feel very good about using this review to call out their commitment to quality and excellent customer service. Currently, this liquor store is right next door to their chocolate shop and restaurant, Chocomo. I've reviewed them elsewhere. They are in the process of building a new facility that will undoubtedly qualify as a "destination" chocolate shop that will rival San Francisco's famous Ghirardelli's Chocolates. So, why five stars for a liquor store? Simple, it's all about the service. Looking for something you don't see? Just ask! Trying to track down a special bottle of scotch before you run out? Just ask. Want some local, grass fed beef for a special dinner? No kidding, just ask. They have a freezer of their Silver Creek Beef with choice cuts of the same family raised beef they serve in the restaurant. These guys go above and beyond. You won't find a better selection of hard-to-find brands. I made my first visit a few days ago and asked if they had any Icelandic Brennivín, an akvavit that is pretty hard to get. "Oh yes. We've got three kinds." Three kinds! Original, anniversary edition, and cask strength! Amazing. I also browsed their gin and whiskey sections. A myriad of brands I'd never even heard of. Shipping was reasonable, so I put in the order hoping all would arrive ok. My order shipped first thing in the morning, and was here the next day! Used to be the state-owned liquor store until recently passed laws changed the way alcohol is sold in this state. The tax rate for alcohol/spirits is ridiculous (like 20%) but there is a decent selection of local beer and wine to choose from. read more

This place has an amazing selection and is staffed by absolutely phenomenal staff. I drove out from Seattle because I saw that they had an exclusive barrel selection. I was amazed by the selection and saw dozens of nice bottles that I hadn't seen on the shelf anywhere. What really compelled me to write this review though was how amazingly patient and helpful they were: they were stand out from the beginning when it was just helping me grab bottles and deal with my chronic indecisiveness but as I was checking they really went over the top. My bank in their infinite wisdom decided to fraud my credit cards and they helped me patiently run my card multiple times; they spoke with my bank for me and they stayed after closing to help me resolve the issue. This is a hidden gem! Coming from Tacoma we have quite the selection of bottle shops with craft beer specialty releases, but in the Silverdale area there is nothing that comes close besides this place. I would have never guessed it by the name. Fortunately I was referred by Bainbridge Brewing that they possibly had some bottles I was on the hunt for. I had no idea what was in store for me! They have all the good special releases! From most of the local Washington breweries and a few out of state. Just to name a few Fremont(barrel aged), Cascade Variants, pretty much all the good barrel aged limited release beers from multiple brewers and rare sold old limited releases of other styles. I almost hate to share my little secret spot but they deserve the shout out. You might even be able to special order.. for those that don't fancy beer there is also an awesome selection of award winning local spirits!! Talk about customer oriented! We all know the liquor industry is redefining itself this year and it can't all be about volume wins and little guy loses. High Spirits is creating a niche market by catering to customers desires. When the store first opened there was the obligatory one or two bottles of Rye Whiskey now there is a whole section from very high end to very affordable great finds. The staff is knowledgeable, very friendly and willing to go out and get what you want that the mega stores won't carry. This store is a gem for connoisseurs. The tax rate is the same for all stores but personalized customer service is a rare commodity in this day and age. read more

I have been coming to this store since it was bought and converted from a state run liquor store. I really wanted to support their business because I believe in entrepreneurship and do not believe in state run businesses. So over the last year or so I've been purposely going there to support their business in my neighborhood. Unfortunately I had a very negative experience with the store and owner when I tried to point out that a particular brand of wine they were carrying was really bad, possibly contaminated, and not drinkable. It was a chardonnay, it was cloudy, and I was told by the owner of the store that the wine is suppose to be cloudy when cold. Well I've never heard of that and pointed that out to the young owner that nowhere on the bottle did it say that this wine is suppose to be cloudy when cold...and it tasted sour. The owner was condescending and pretentious given how much business I have provided to his store. He stated this was a "new" winemaking technique that was "green" and the winemakers were personal friends of his. Well I just spent of few minutes "googling" cloudy wine and nowhere (including the winemakers facebook page) have I found a reference to this new winemaking technique. Must be cutting edge or I'm just old and out of touch. I can own that if that's the case. At least the winemaker can make that known on their labeling for those of us who don't want a cloudy bottle of wine. I tried to point that out on their facebook page but apparently they don't take critical posts. It wasn't even an expensive bottle of wine. He could have come clean and comped me in the purchase I planned for that evening. Instead he insisted I bring the bottle back with receipt before he could refund me. I have to say I was incredulous. Needless to say I will not be going to this store again, even to get my 14 bucks back for the offensive bottle. Not worth it. I can go to cheaper stores with just as good selection in the local area. Sorry dude. You lost it. Either you were insincere or your buddies at Open Road sold you a pallet of crap. read more
