My husband and I took our HQL certification class with Master Arms & Tactical. It was fun and relatable! Instructors are very informative and take time to answer questions. Plus, they are super patient! The class held a mix of students from every background and skill level, which made it feel super inclusive. They walk you through the MD Gun Laws. They teach you what firearms are and aren't. There is a practical session to just get familiar with holding a gun if you haven't done that before. They instruct you on the mechanics of shooting, with stance, sight, breath and firing. Then you get to shoot a hand gun. It is inside the classroom with a crayon shot...which was nice because it wasn't too loud. They must be pretty good because I hit the target square on my first try!...and I've never fired a handgun before! I would recommend Master Arms & Tactical if you need your HQL class or if you are just trying to understand something you don't have a skill in!

My wife brought me to GUNTRY for my birthday, and it was an awesome experience from start to finish. We kicked things off with a simulation session, which was so cool. I am already planning to do it again. The shock pack that zaps you when you get hit is wild. It is a little crazy, but honestly really fun to try. We spent an hour at the range afterward. It is definitely loud and a bit tight, but it gets the job done. The staff was friendly, patient, and very helpful the whole time. The retail shop is huge too, with tons of firearms and accessories to browse. We ended the night at their cigar and whisky event, and that was a great time. The whisky was strong and plentiful, and dinner was delicious. It was all catered in house by the cafe. Pricing is pretty reasonable overall. Their lesson rates seem lower than a lot of other places I have seen, although I have not had a chance to take one yet. My only complaint is that I wish it were closer. I live in DC, so it is definitely a trek, but it was worth the drive.

Upon entering I check in with the staff in front and then headed upstairs to where the class was held. Our instructor Stephanie was engaging and made class fun. Got our fingerprint done during class and then after the lecture we went and did some live firing. One of the downside is the bathroom only has 1 urinal and 1 stall, on this day the urinal was out of order so a long wait time to use the bathroom since only have one stall. All in all, it was a very straight forward process to completing the class and getting my HQL certificate and I would highly recommend anyone who in the area and need a HQL class to get it here. As for me I won't be back unfortunately due to the distance, gas price, and having to drive through dingy Baltimore to get to this facility.

I said I liked to speak to the manager so I can file a complaint and I was told "he is busy". My response was, "Too busy to take a complaint?" With that he went into another room through a door with glass where he spoke to I presume the manager who was standing in front of a snack table. Gee I guess we didn't want to interrupt his break! This individual ( Tyler) comes out and introduces himself as the manager and asked he if could help me. I told him the situation about his employees ignoring me and he asks if he could interest me in something to which I said, "No, not now; I was going to buy that Benelli M2 but since your employees ignored me I'm not going to." Oh his employee ( David) stood there and lied saying he acknowledge me when I walked in but in the next sentence he said he didn't see me! At that point I looked at the employee and politely said, " you may leave, your dismissed" because if he was going to stand there and lie he didn't add anything to the conversation. That lit a fire under the store managers butt as he proceeded to tell me I don't tell his employees what to do and to get out of his store and don't come back. With that I started to leave but his employee (David) was in close proximity behind me. I stopped and asked if I needed to be escorted out of the store and with that I was told to "yes, you do, get out and don't ever come back". I used the live chat for questions and the owner Will responded in real time (not some automated bot). Five stars for the website! My wife went first for an HQL. She is shy and never held a gun. I was nervous about her going alone. Will, said he would take good care of her. She came home beaming with pride. SHE DID IT! She said Will was very kind and patient. She said she loved the course. So we went and bought her her first firearm (S&W Equalizer 9mm). Now me. I went next for a wear/carry on 6/24, 6/25. I only own a 357 revolver. Will was gracious enough to let me use one of his personal semi-autos. I am not implying he does this for everyone. You are expected to bring your own firearm and should, but he graciously made an exception. His resume was impressive. I liked the fact we both did Basic Training and AIT at Ft. McClellan Ala. and were both MP's. You could tell from the opening moments of instruction he was prepared. He had a nice blend of mixing the formal PPT material with classroom interaction and hands on exercises to keep the students engaged. I appreciate this since I was an instructor on US ARMY Depo's for many years. I am a vet. I could have skipped the training with my DD-214, but I am sure glad I did not! Will taught me about things I was not aware of, from tactical techniques, to laws, to how to apply for my permit. Well worth my time and money. Never once felt "bored". I have six pages of notes crammed with important information from the sessions. On the range, I felt comfortable and safe. He took command of the range. I scored 100% I shook his hand and left. I will use him again for recertification for sure. Oh, I forgot to mention his wife is available right in the classroom for you fingerprinting needs. Trophy to Will.
