I completed the Multi-State License course in September 2024, but I've continued to experience delays in receiving my Florida, Utah, and Arizona licenses. I recently contacted the Florida Department of Agriculture to check on the status of my application, but they were unable to locate my record. Given that I paid $1,500 for the One Stop Shop - Premium package, I'm very concerned that I have not received the services promised. I highly recommend PTP to any and all that are interested in firearm training! Ryan is an excellent instructor. I took the One Stop Shop class to earn my CCW for MD, FL, VA, AZ, and UT. From start to finish, Ryan is professional and relatable. I entered the class with apprehension that I would withhold all the knowledge needed to feel comfortable and confident upon the end of the 2 day class. By the end of Day 1, I already knew I was in the right place. The way he teaches about laws, firearms and handguns is easy to comprehend. He is very open to questions and talking through any confusion that any of us students had until it was clarified. The hands-on aspect was very detailed and I appreciated his teaching method: talk about what was going to happen followed by a visual example of our instruction then also guided us step-by-step when it was our turn to do the exercise. It was very beneficial to practice through all the safe motions of using a handgun with his guided drills before having any actual ammunition loaded. I am very pleased that I found PTP and have obtained my CCW through their training. Want to start out by saying "Thank you PTP". I currently own my own firearms that I purchased prior to the Maryland legislation act for "Regulated Firearms". I did this as I was informed incorrectly mind you, that IF you purchased your "regulated" firearm you would be grandfathered in. Meaning I would not need to take any additional courses. I thought, great. Well I have since come to find out that you do indeed need to have additional hand gun courses if you want to purchase a hand gun. All this law does is make the general law abiding Maryland resident put out more money to the state. This law will and has not stopped any criminal from doing what they want. With all that being said, let me tell you my opinion on the HQL (Hand gun Qualification License) Class I took on Saturday in Callaway, Maryland with PTP and Ryan Gass and all his fellow PTP staff.. The day starting out wonderfully, it was a normal July day, nice and humid. I got there around 7:45 for the 8am class, got in line, signed in and had a seat. Ryan came in and said we would be holding off for just a few minutes to let some last minute people to either finish signing in or to show up. Which is nice that he was willing to hold off for a few minutes, you never know what traffic can be like. About 8:10 we started, I figured (like most) here we go, time to just keep my eyes open and not fall asleep, boy was I wrong, Ryan was great, he was polite, funny and most important engaged and very informative. Yes, I already knew a lot just from being around guns, but I have to admit, I did learn a lot too. Every question was answered directly and towards the group and all the questions that where asked, he was able to answer without hesitation. The class was less than 8 hours long including a couple of breaks and lunch (provided I might add). During the class one of the things you need is to have finger printing done, this is required to obtain your HQL in Maryland and PTP had a person on site to do it, HQL also required at a minimum a single shot from a fire arm. I was thinking to myself, there are a lot of buildings around here and I know darn well, PTP knows they can't do that here, so I figured we would all have to finish the class and meet some place to do the shot, NOPE, they have a system set up to where the shot can be done on sight and well in all the laws. Very cool. I would tell anyone that wants to get their HQL to contact PTP and get your training through them for a few of reasons. 1. Very knowledgeable 2. They come to your area, vs. having to drive all over who knows where 3. Friendly staff 4. Small classes 5. Lots of guns to tryout (if you sign up) 6. The way I found PTP is through signs that were up along route 301 in Maryland. I took my Maryland handgun qualification license class with PTP. It was through a Women's only class they held in southern Maryland. The class was all day, they served lunch, had the necessary fingerprinting available on site, had some weapons safely on display, had a vendor on site to have legal services and had PTP swag available for purchase. The course was extremely informative, explained some laws, taught us the different parts of handguns, taught us how to load and take apart the weapons and they also took us to shoot. I felt the people who taught were very well versed in the different processes on getting licensed. I later signed up for the Day 2 Wear and Carry course which is what is needed to be able to wear and carry in MD. That class was even better. I probably won't take the classes in the winter anymore since we were outside all day but it was a great class. I felt safe and learned a lot. read more

It was a very good course and with very knowledgeable staff. The lawyer who was brought in for the first few hours really helped clarify the MD laws. It dragged a bit at the end when the instructor was going over what the lawyer said again in not quite as easy to understand terms. It also seemed that most of the people who were brought in to tell you horror stories also had something to sell which cheapened the experience for me. Overall, I would suggest this to someone, but let them know that they will try to sell you on products and services you may or may not need. read more

I decided to give PTP a shot and was very impressed right from the very start. I initially texted the number on the PTP homepage to ask if as a Virginia resident if I could get a MD permit, not only did I get the MD permit I also applied for Florida, Utah, and DC. I elected to select the Premium Package and when I pay the premium price I expect premium service, and they really delivered with both a premium experience and a great value. On day 1 of the training I checked in and within 30 minutes my fingerprints, passport photos and the additional paperwork were all completed, and in a very efficient manner. The training covers a lot of topics and each section is followed up with a Q&A session to allow students an opportunity to ask any questions and make sure they fully understood the instruction. The videos and graphics that were presented were very high quality and explained everything in great detail. There was a rep from Law Shield that came in and gave an overview of the service they provide and if you sign up with PTP you get 14 months for the price of 12. You don't have to get Law Shield but I elected to subscribe, once you have an incident its to late. I have been carrying in VA for 20+ years and the rules for DC and MD are way different and far more restrictive, your are going to want to have a good working knowledge of them before you cross the state lines so you violate anything. Day 2, Range Day. One thing I knew going into this training was that I had a very sloppy draw from my holster and needed to work on it. We did drills on every movement to get the firearm unholstered and on target in the most efficient manner, and return it back safely in the holster. The range was awesome, clean area, clean firearms and safety protocols we followed and all times. The range firearms were 22 caliber Glocks (you can bring your own pistol and ammo if you want) which I would never carry for protection, but they are great for new users to learn to handle and fire firearms without worrying about the recoil of the pistol. As I stated I paid for the Premium service and it cost more, but it puts the brunt of the work on PTP and you have professional who know how to do it correctly guiding you. I would recommend PTP to beginners and more seasoned firearms users, I guarantee you will still learn something new. read more

There are a lot of options when seeking firearms training in Maryland. As a current NRA Instructor and RSO, from out of state, I enjoy attending other instructor classes. You never stop learning in this industry. I'll start with the pros: My Maryland Wear and Carry class taught by Ryan, owner of PTP Guns was top notch. He is very knowledgeable of the current laws, process and procedures. He is filling a void and a need in TSA State that is anything but Pro firearm. I found his price to be more than fair and his accommodations and ordering better than others. I didn't shop around until after signing up for PTPs class and found that PTP is significantly less than other places. The cost of the class included for both days morning refreshments water and Gatorade and lunch. He had a lawyer from US Law Shield who spoke regarding what happens when you use a firearm in a self defense situation. The cons: This is a pro and con. Ryan is a marine and a former marine instructor. He is charismatic and his instruction is indicative of that background. Former military will feel at home. For some this can feel intimidating. Ryan seems to be the only instructor. Although he has a team of men and women in the background handling administrative tasks, the ratio between instructor and trainee is huge. In my class it was often 1:30. It's one thing in a highly controlled environment like the military but this class had such a mix of persons who have shot or not shot it would be nice to see more active instructors on the firing line. I tried to position myself away from others. As to mitigate potential accidents. I enjoy instructors that are brutally honest about their training and what to expect. There are two faces to this training coin. One face is Ryan is proving a service to those wanting the training. And it is expected that the individual knows what they should about the laws. The other face of the coin is Rayan is educating folks about the laws. In Maryland it's very hard to get a concealed carry, where as Va and Florida and UT is a Shall issue, so even though having a MD CC permit will cover you in Va, there is a hundred percent chance of getting a VA simply by not being a felon where as there is a 10 percent chance of getting a MD CC permit even if you are completely clean. This may be explained if you are a member All in All I would continue to use PTP guns as my choice for firearms instruction for any Maryland classes needed. I have recommended PTP guns to several Friends in the State of Maryland. Businesses like this are successful because of the instruction that's given. Took the Women's Only HQL course. Gunny Aaron, Anthony and Paul were incredible. Very knowledgeable and very patient. Everyone had a great time. The lunch was fabulous. We never felt rushed. The shooting buffet at the end was the best! Ryan and John joined the group and they were just as awesome! Again, there was an instructor right by us ready to assist. We never felt rushed. Everyone left confident in our ability to load and use a firearm safely. Thanks to you gentlemen I am a happy and informed firearms user. Absolutely awesome experience with PTP for the Women's MD HQL and WCC 16 hour course!!! I highly recommend. Ryan was professional, knowledgable, and very motivated. When I first thought, woah 16 hours.. could be too much for my first time firearms course, never used a handgun before, only a 22 rifle skeet shooting, I'm a beginner. But the course was AWESOME!! Whether we were reviewing state firearms laws or types of projectiles or 4 step training, not for one second of that 16 hour course did the instructor lose my attention. PTP not only takes firearms training to the next level, but also makes it exciting and personal. My only regret was waiting to take this course for so long... as I wanted to do it years ago but I was waiting to sign up with a friend. However, after taking the course by myself, I would highly recommend taking it on your own! I had the pleasure of taking PTP's women's only handgun training on Saturday, January 19th. I felt comfortable in the "Women's only" atmosphere as I had not had a lot of experience with handguns in the past and found myself surrounded by other women who were in the same position as myself. I decided to sign up for this class to gain a better understanding and basic knowledge of operating a handgun in hope to continue and progress with my training after leaning the basis skills. I decided to register for this class only a few hours before the day of the course. Without knowing what to expect and hesitant about signing up due to my lack of experience, I reached out to Wayne Suite and Ryan Gass to inquire about the course prior to registering. Wayne and Ryan were very helpful and helped put my mind at ease prior to registering. They answered my last minute questions and made me feel comfortable to sign up for the basic training course. They even made sure a spot was reserved for me even with my very last minute request to join the class. Upon entering the classroom, I was greeted by Jay who was very friendly and helpful upon registering. Jay was a great instructor with years of experience in the armed forces to apply his real world knowledge and training toward the course material. Jay spend enough time toward the end of the course to show each participant how to properly handle a hand gun. We were even able to spend one on one time at the end of the course learning how to shoot a single shot in the PTP trailer outside of the building. I enjoyed this aspect the most, because it was hands on, and we were able to practice individually with the instructor rather than having to worry about an audience overseeing to add to any nervousness on unfamiliarity I may have had with a handgun. What I appreciated the most about my overall experience was the follow up that I had from PTP owner Ryan Gass. He took time out of his Saturday evening to follow up with me to see how I enjoyed the course and to gain my input as to how I felt about the course over all. PTP is a true class act from the owner, to the team of sales reps, to the knowledgeable course instructors who all take their time to assure that each individual leaves feeling comfortable with their training experience. I can not wait to enjoy more classes to continue my knowledge and training about handguns and would refer anyone who is eager to learn more, or has a passion for firearms and wants to build upon their knowledge and qualifications to give PTP their trust.
