This office was a complete waste of my time. I went to this dental office for a consultation for…read morewisdom teeth extraction, and the experience was extremely disappointing. The dentist was present for only a few minutes before quickly leaving, which meant I had to direct all of my questions to the assistant instead. That already made me uncomfortable, since she is not the one performing the extraction. It would have been faster and more appropriate if the dentist had simply stayed a few extra minutes to answer my questions himself. Things got worse when the assistant told me I needed to sign some paperwork. When I looked at it, sedation was already checked off even though I never asked for sedation and was never asked what I wanted. When I said I preferred local anesthetic instead, the assistant became rude and dismissive and even tried to coerce me into signing it. I asked her to check with the dentist about why sedation was necessary and how severe my case actually was. His response was that he was "not comfortable" doing the extraction without sedation. That raised a huge red flag for me. If a dentist isn't comfortable extracting wisdom teeth without sedation, that says a lot. I then asked if someone could be in the room with me as an observer. They flat out said no. That's when I got up and left. When the dentist said he was "not comfortable" doing the extraction without sedation, it didn't sound like a clinical concern, it sounded like a way to justify pushing a more expensive option. Sedation was pre-selected without my consent, and local anesthesia was met with resistance, which made it clear this was about money, not my well-being. I went to another dental office afterward and had the exact opposite experience. Staff was friendly and accommodating, the dentist actually sat down and answered all my questions, confirmed my case did not require sedation, and respected my choice to use local anesthesia only. I had all four wisdom teeth removed in just 30 minutes with zero pain. If you're considering this place, avoid it. This office is unprofessional, dismissive, and does not respect patient consent. I do not recommend them.

While on vacation I started experiencing extreme sensitivity and a throbbing sensation on my bottom…read moreright wisdom tooth (32). Upon returning from my trip, I scheduled an emergency appointment with Luc Dental Care. An x-ray confirmed a large cavity in my wisdom tooth. I was immediately referred to Sacramento Valley Dental Specialists for a tooth extraction. I spoke with a friendly representative at Sacramento Valley Dental Specialists who was able to schedule a next day consultation and oral surgery. The following day I arrived to a group of friendly employees at the front desk that greeted me. Since I filled out the intake form prior to the appointment, I was only seated for two minutes before being ushered to the back. An employee took my blood pressure, administered an x-ray, and informed me that the surgeon would be with me shortly. Shortly after Dr. Fries entered the room and introduced himself. He gave me an overview of the procedure that would be conducted, asked if I had any questions, and then started a short video that informed me about post-extraction care. After the video concluded, I was ushered to another room where Dr. Fries and an employee began administering the local anesthesia. Roughly 10 minutes later, after confirming that the anesthesia had kicked in, Dr Fries began the procedure. Throughout the procedure Dr. Fries and the employee did a great job of communicating what was happening (the wisdom tooth was very stubborn in coming out) and verifying that I was not in pain (although there was slight discomfort). Three days later, strictly following the post-extraction rules, I have no pain (thankfully)...thank you Dr. Fries and the rest of the Sacramento Valley Dental Specialists team!

We specifically researched and decided on Dr. Dana Jensen, and he lived up to his reputation. Dr. Jensen is professional, amazing, and soft-spoken; he explained everything clearly and answered every question we had regarding the procedure. The efficiency was incredible--he removed two fully erupted top wisdom teeth and two horizontal impacted ones in less than 40 minutes under general anesthesia. The recovery was just as smooth; my son was pain-free by the second day using the provided ice pack and post-op instructions. The prescription was sent directly to the pharmacy, making the whole process seamless. His recovery was so fast that he was able to attend his first year of college just three days after surgery! I also loved the office layout, which includes a discreet side door to wheel patients out to the car. Tarah, the receptionist, was a pleasure to deal with and clearly explained our insurance coverage. I've also had the pleasure to deal with Nora (over the phone) and she was a sweetheart. While they require an appointment security fee over the phone, it is applied directly to the procedure. From the text reminders to the expert care, we are so glad we chose Dr. Jensen!

However, on December 3rd, 2025 almost one month after my first appointment I received a call from the office manager stating that I now needed a second consultation with the same doctor, and that I would be charged another consultation fee of $225.00, even though I had already approved moving forward with the gum graft surgery. This additional fee was never disclosed upfront. Had this been explained from the beginning, I would not have scheduled my first appointment and would have chosen a different office. Because of this lack of transparency, I asked them to cancel my account and all future appointments. I will not continue care at an office that is unclear about costs or adds unexpected fees after the fact. I was also told by the provider that she could only perform grafting on the external (cheek-facing) side of the tooth and not on the interior side. After contacting multiple periodontal offices in Sacramento, I learned that other providers are able to perform grafting on both sides when needed. In my experience, this office has been disorganized and unclear. If you are seeking treatment for gum recession or gum graft surgery, I strongly recommend finding a provider who is transparent about fees and fully capable of performing the procedure you need. wish you the best of luck. My dentist and the hygienist and everybody I knew was telling me to plan to be on soft foods afterwards for 2 weeks and that I would be in a lot of pain afterwards and for a good while after the procedures (days if not weeks). Dr. tomaich recommended to me to take advil and tylenol together afterwards, so that's what I did. I was able to eat a steak for dinner the same night as the 3 teeth were extracted, and with the literal exception of the very first poke from the syringe of anesthetic, I didn't feel any discomfort for the entire procedure as well as the day and days following the procedure. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Tomaich, and have scheduled another extraction with bone graft next week and aren't concerned in the slightest. My normal dentist offered to have them do this extraction and after a short thinking it over after I left her office, I immediately called and said "hey, I know you guys said you could do this extraction and I am sure you guys would do a fine job, but I feel WAY MORE comfortable with Dr. Tomaich." This whole procedure thats supposed to be INCREDIBLY painful is pain-FREE with Dr. Tomaich. Can't recommend him enough. With Tomaich doing the extraction, I know that I will be good to resume ANY activity within a few hours of the procedure. I can't imagine you can get much better than that.
