I didn't need a diagnosis, since I told the dentist that my implant was loose. He decided to take a ct scan, charge me for it and charge me for his false "diagnosis." $290 later.. he told me I need a New crown and wanted me to pay $2900 to return for 2 more visits to "fix" it. I Declined his outrageous treatment plan, knowing my implant was just loose. I waited until Monday with no problems and went to my dentist Dr. John Vartanian (Newport Beach) who did the implant for me. He tightened the screw and I was out of there in 10 minutes for free. I believe SoCal Smiles owes me $290 back for their unnecessary scan and incorrect diagnosis. They were trying to sell me something I didn't need and I'm quite upset about how this was handled when I brought it to their attention. I would go elsewhere and not trust this place with your time or money.

Not only did Dr. Gina beat the other places in price, she is really sweet and understanding. You never feel intimidated asking questions, which I really appreciate since I'm more on the timid side. I ended up getting veneers instead of composite bonding. A lot of places will try to upsell you and have you do 6-8 teeth, but Dr. Gina recommended I only do two teeth since I'm young. She keeps up with modern technology. We did a mock up of the teeth and the veneers are made in a lab. The technology she uses also tells her how much to shave off. My veneers blend seemlessly, not bulky and the color is an exact match. The time I came to try my veneers, I asked for more of a rounded shape, and they sent it back to add more, which I really appreciate. My initial review was 06/2025 when I chipped an implant, and they fit me in quick and made me a new…read moreone. Great ONE-TIME experience. Updated with when I chipped a 15-year-old filling 11/2025. Plan was to replace two fillings. I have already been to that place and my insurance had changed, but I have never had to wait one hour and 15 minutes for them to verify my insurance and spend an additional two hours for the procedure. Dr. Chong said I needed a root canal on one, which I did need, she was just wrong about which tooth needed a root canal. Thank goodness I visited the only Endo (Dr. Elmi) in Brea I will ever go to. She quickly saw that the temporarily crown they placed was shattered into my gums, and so poorly constructed it was near impossible to pinpoint which tooth was causing the problem, but she successfully did identify the tooth and perform root canal therapy. I called and told Tustin Dental, because the thought was first we would see if they could remake temporary crowns and see if I needed a root canal at all before taking more days off work to go visit the endodontist, or if it was indeed because the temporary crowns that were quite clearly causing a tremendous amount of problems with my gums on the whole bottom left side of my mouth. Dr. Chong was sure to call back with a condescending tone and answer and no care whatsoever for how I was feeling or if there was a problem at all. She said to see the endodontist because, and I quote, "this is the extent of what I can do", even though endodontists do not do crowns. I told her I've had the procedure before on other teeth, and there were there pockets of pus on my gums and substantial pain 9 days later this time, and they said it was normal, no medicine, mouthwash, nothing until I asked for antibiotics, and getting those was a total nightmare with how many times I had to call back. After having the root canal and having the wonderful endodontist scrape the decay and soften the unfinished temporary crown I was no longer in any pain. Unfortunately I am still wearing the temporary crown and it has been nearly 5 months. My daughter had a seizure and my MIL a heart attack, and I had already taken days off of work and devoted them to my dental care, but I had to devote them to something else. Anyhow, now that things have calmed I will be reporting them ASAP after finding a new dentist. I rarely feel the need to report but when I do, 10 out of 10 times it gets investigated because I don't report for nonsensical things. Every single part of this place is terrible, though Dr. Chong is capable of somewhat decent work. Her terrible bedside manner and her total lack of care for her patients take her "okay dental work" down ten notches. Don't ever go here, not even for an emergency. I got lucky when I went in June of last year.
