We were told to check on the menus (whiteboard) that would be the specials of the day ! We were asked how many in the party! Told to sit where we pleased ! It took about 20 minutes before we received our silver wear and told the servicer would be with us shortly 20 minutes later poof a server appeared ! Took another 15 minutes before we got our drinks ! Then another 30 minutes before food was served! I had a salad my hubby had fish and chips ! Salad was alright he said his fish was good ! This was our second time there same experience the first time so we thought we give it another chance ! Living in oriental there is limited restaurants ! So choices are limited! Will we be back to M&M probably not ! Management need to be aware of the situation of the staff and possibly retraining is required to be aware of the staff lack of communication!

There is a large selection of apps and specials. Haven't had anything on the menu that's bad. They have special apps and entrees that are not on the menu. We prefer to sit at the bar. The main seating area is not for us. Kinda bland. Karen is great at the bar. The wings, buffalo shrimp, steak and salads are all great

A good experience here has about the same lifespan as two scoops of ice cream on a hot summer day! They were one of the few dining options in town that was close enough to walk to and offered a menu of decent variety, unfortunately what appeared to be a great dining experience quickly went straight south as the dinner rush picked up and any organization went right out the window. We were fortunate enough to enjoy our entrees within a reasonable amount of time, entrees that were large enough to not warrant any need for sides, especially when you're thinking of pairing a side of potatoes to one of their quesadillas. The quesadilla's were just that, ordinary quesadilla's and a bit overly cooked. Unfortunately, it took well over 45 minutes to pay the check and collect the dessert to go. The servers are also bussing tables and working in the kitchen, while the hostess / server is the only person who can process a check. Unfortunately, the servers seem to forget to drop off the bills to the hostess while she is at the register. I wouldn't even call it controlled chaos, just chaos, and I would not return. Cheers!

This is a sweet little restaurant in the village of Oriental, NC. The staff members are always friendly. I've tried much of the menu over the past 3 years, and my favorite go-to item is this fried scallop salad. It's a winner.

Great local eatery with huge portions, I had the shrimp and grits, the shrimp were local and the grits excellent. David had the short ribs, he liked but didn't love them. The red velvet cake was out of this world. Great service and a nice clean eatery!

We were in no rush and our waiter (Beckett) was very accommodating with our pace. we ordered drinks and settled in on reviewing the small menu. Drinks were fine but I thought my beer (Sexy Cool Hazy IPA) was a little flat. We asked if there were any appetizers that would lend themselves to sharing. The only two, deviled eggs and pimento cheese, were not anything we were interested in so we passed. Surprisingly, there was not even a salad option as a starter. Two of the dinners had the NC catch of the day, golden tilefish. It was nice but a very small portion. One had the shrimp and clam purloo. It was a generous portion and was reported to be good. I had the braised pork cheeks. They tasted good and were not fatty at all. Looking back on our dinner, the food was fine but nothing exceptional. Also nothing "fresh" on the menu; salad, fresh vegetables, nothing. Also the lack of something other than the very pedestrian offers to share is something to consider. For what we paid, I would expect much better. PS - Our waiter, Beckett, was very good. Attentive enough but not too much. Also, why do restaurants of this caliber charge more for a credit card. Who is going to pay cash for a $300 meal? Just crank it into the price of the food and stop rubbing our noses in your cost to do business.

Chelsea greeted us and welcomed us in. Full disclosure. I had a cold, and was not feeling my best. Somehow, Chelsea made me feel like she would make sure I got what I needed. From bringing extra wasabi, to creating an appetizer that wasn't on the menu, she and the kitchen staff made us feel special. Hubby had the steak, 10/10. Same with the fried oysters. I had the tuna tataki, and with the extra wasabi I could finally breathe lol. My daughter had the chowder and a crab cake. I ordered a clam chowder and a burger w/ sweet potato fries. As someone who lives in New England I am happy to say this is a delicious chowder. To my liking; a thick broth and the right amount of fixings of clams, potatoes, and other ingredients. I would recommend not using the saltine crackers, not needed. Ordered my burger rare and it came out as I ordered it. Sweet potato fries were good too. We ordered a key lime pie for the table and was very good! For one of two restaurants in town I would recommend making reservations to be on the safe side.

She was incredibly sweet and attentive. She seemed a little nervous at first, but she did a great job and made us feel very welcome throughout our meal. I ordered the Crispy Rice Tuna Salad, and it was excellent. The tuna was fresh, the combination of textures was fantastic, and the portion was much larger than I expected--I couldn't finish it. I also appreciated that the menu offered a good variety of choices, from lighter dishes to more indulgent options. The restaurant itself has a cozy, eclectic atmosphere with interesting décor that makes it feel like a hidden gem tucked away in downtown Washington. Add in the fact that they're open on Mondays when many nearby restaurants are closed, and Blu becomes an easy recommendation. I'll definitely return the next time I'm in town.

After numerous trips I still can't put my finger on what exactly is done differently at Blu to outperform so many fantastic restaurants. It's as if they have somehow managed the flavors of a Michelin restaurant with plating that isn't so... boring and sterile. Portion sizes are more than adequate, none of that one taste nonsense here. The service is always fantastic, professional and friendly. The owner is occasionally willing to share recipes with you and has never disappointed me with a recommendation. The cocktails? Just "wow". Perhaps what makes this place so fabulous is that they manage to do so well in so many categories. I'll consider that more in depth next time I make a reservation which may just have to be today. Speaking of, if you don't make a reservation, don't be disappointed when you don't have a seat. This isn't a place you can always walk in and sit down. They don't have many tables and it's obvious that they aren't the type of place to sit more people than they can take care of. Take some time, enjoy a drink and one of the best meals you'll have in the area. You won't regret it!
