I recently moved to the area and came across M&Co Salon on Instagram through downtown Wheaton's page. They were looking for hair models, so I decided to book an appointment, and now I've been there twice. The salon has a clean, minimalist atmosphere, and everyone from the stylists to the owner is warm, professional, and welcoming. It's also a teaching salon, which I love. It's inspiring to see the level of care, precision, and learning that goes into each service. I've been seeing Sabrina, a talented student stylist who will be hopefully on her own by the holidays. She's calm, attentive, and thorough and truly takes the time to understand what you're looking for. The prices are very resonance, and the location in downtown wheaton is perfect! I walked by this salon and I liked how nice it looked and the decor. I saw that it had great reviews so I decided to make an appointment. I told the receptionist my hair type and that I wanted a stylist that could give me a suggestion and not do a very basic boring cut. Other salons I feel like I've just gotten overcharged for the same look and to get my dead ends cut off. They recommended Coco and she did a great job! Her recommendation wasn't anything crazy but it suited my lifestyle and looked more than just the dead ends cut off. She started off with a consultation, took off some of my length, washed my hair, cut, blow dried and styled. She took out a lot of the weight in my hair that prevented me from wearing it down but kept the length. She added face framing and texture. I could tell she took her time and made sure it was a great cut. She was very friendly and listened to what I wanted. All the employees here seemed great and I like the ambiance! Really odd hair cut from an experienced Stylist K. Showed her a few photos of long and shoulder bobs and a few variations. Nothing complicated. I could tell she was probab a good Stylist.. but she did the one thing I do not like. Did not listen (as I've discovered many stylist listen but I don't end up very happy. Basically I said "do not take off more then 1" except in the layering but not short. Nope! she did not listen. I found out later that she's somewhat of a curly hair specialist. I do have naturally wavy hair, but not tight. In conclusion I ended up with what looked like a bowling ball very twisted kinky look. And yep, you guessed it. Well above my shoulders. I think K is a good stylist just not for me. Side note, I might consider another stylist. It's a really nice salon. read more

M+Co really worked with me and I felt cared for. I came in twice to fine tune the haircut and they were so quick to care for my hair well by adding density. If you're not initially sure about your haircut, I'd reccomend talking it out with them! I felt understood, believed, and responsed to. I have really fine hair that I've never quite known how to feel good about, and I felt like Beth taught me a lot, was professional, and kind. M&Co. is THE BEST! Beth has completely saved my hair from a bad color/cut gone horribly wrong. My hair is back to growing and is healthy again. Recently I needed a "substitute" stylist for a few visits. I was fortunate to have found Stephanie Johnson at M&Co. The first visit I had with Stephanie was for an "up-do" for a fancy party I was attending. I had several pictures of the look I was trying to achieve and Stephanie took it from there. It was an awesome look and I got lots and lots of compliments. The second visit was for color. Stephanie was able to match the previous color perfectly. Sad to walk in for an appointment today and find nobody wearing a mask. When I asked what the mask situation was the response was we've chosen not to. Really unfortunate to know that this business is going against local mandates to protect our community. We left and will not return for future services Editing per owner response- nobody in the salon had a mask on- the stylist putting one on to cut our hair in a small space would not have made this a safe environment especially in light of the current covid climate. I'm by no means someone who is even close to crazy about covid exposure but I wear my mask indoor and follow CDC guidelines. WOW! Woke up with the feeling that I could use a hair cut today. I called the salon and got a same day appointment with Jennie. At first when I walked in, I was greeted by the sweet lady behind the desk. She offered me something to drink while I waited. (I was 15 min early). I wasn't quite sure what I wanted just yet so I talked to Jennie before getting started. She helped me figure out what was going to be best for me. I wanted something dramatic like a chop but she reminded me that once it's gone, it's gone...so her idea was to start longer and if wanted, we could go shorter. My hair turned out perfect! Didn't need to go shorter and wasn't upset about the length. I love it. My hair is bouncy, healthy & so cute now. Gave me the perfect amount of layers and framed my face exactly how I imagined. The photos of the beautiful decor and the raving reviews online initially attracted me to schedule an balayage appointment with Rosemary. A short preface: I'm of East Asian descent so naturally, I have dark, dark, hair. I requested a balayage with Rosemary at 9am. I briefly talked about what I wanted, showing the stylist sample pictures. I had expressed my fears of my hair turning orange and brassy and asked her what I could do to prevent that (she recommended purple shampoo). Essentially, my hair goal was not orange, smoothly blended balayage. At last, we agreed on a neutral balayage. I don't doubt Rosemary's hair prowess---the pictures online are a testament to it---but after spending $226 (trim, balayage, style), I was left with really orange hair, a fear I first shared with her during the consultation. I showed Rosemary pictures of women with really cool, ashy blonde tones, which was virtually impossible given the limited time allotted and because of my naturally dark hair. I didn't expect to transform into a bright blonde and kept it realistic as my main goal was to not resemble the Garfield cat. But having spent a ton of money I saved up as a working college student, I left pretty unsatisfied. I take some blame because at that time, I was hesitant to express my true thoughts because I didn't really know if my hair was fixable. In retrospect, however, I wish she would have added a violet/gray/blue based toner on top of the finished hair in order to dismiss the warm color as I first requested to not have orange hair. I initially thought that the warmness would be a nice transition if I ever wanted to progress into a blonde, for example, but I felt that the end result wasn't worth the price tag. Some positives: the atmosphere is friendly, and the staff are bright and bubbly. Being surrounded by other customers, I can tell that they have some loyal members which affirms M&Co's legitimacy. Hopefully this does not sound like a direct attack towards M&Co and its stylists. I'm sure they're all churn a lot of passion for their craft. I just wish that I wouldn't have to spend more money to fix my orange hair. read more

OMG! I went here on a whim to get my hair repaired because it was cut unevenly by approximately one inch. I told Beth exactly what I wanted which was an inverted bob. Keep in mind my hair was zest past my shoulders when I first arrived at their salon. She advises me that she could give me the cut I wanted but the back had to be shorter. I agreed telling her to cut the back even shorter and she did cut it much shorter. So much shorter in fact that I can no longer pull my hair back into a ponytail. After cutting it more and going even shorter she still did not cut my hair on an angle! It's perfectly straight and cut evenly as a straight bob would be cut. Again, not what I asked for! Now they say that I should have brought a photo of what I wanted. Gee, I didn't realize that a professional salon would not know what an inverted bob was albeit the style went out years ago it's a relatively easy style to achieve and I stopped at two other salons and both have informed me that my hair can be cut on an inverted angle without cutting the back shorter yet. I'm sorry but I'm so frustrated with them not owning up to what the stylist did blaming me for not bringing a photo and not allowing the stylist to cut my hair shorter which was a total fabrication of what really happened. So disappointed with this establishment and unfortunately I cannot recommend this place. I should have been asked to return to have my hair straightened out and cut properly for once and for all!!! You failed to provide me with a decent haircut for what I paid! It's not about the money. It comes down to excellence and great customer service before I provide any valuable feedback or before I can give an establishment 5 stars they must earn it! Stop blaming the customer and accept that the stylist wasn't educated enough to give me the style and cut I wanted. I cannot recommend them. That's all folks! read more

I am pretty disappointed by the services I received at M & Co. To be fair to them, I was a new client and did not have a consultation beforehand. But I sent an email asking about services and they got me in right away but didn't suggest a consultation beforehand, and I was excited so I just went with it. In the future I will always do a consultation with a new salon. I went in for a blonde balayage which I have had done many times in the past. My stylist was super kind but I feel like she did not take much time to get to know my hair and while it looked amazing right after she was done, the color has not lasted at all and my hair looks very dull and the color is just not what I had hoped for. (And to note, since I have gotten this done before I know the proper washing techniques and used purple shampoo and don't wash it too often.) I don't think she spent much time on my hair and I don't think it sat long enough in the foils. It was way more expensive than I thought we had talked about too, and I just feel like I wasted so much money. It's a beautiful salon and kind people, but maybe not the best place for specialty color if you want someone to really take their time, or for that more personal experience you often get with stylists who are not apart of a large salon. read more

Incredible hair salon! I have been seeing Taylor B to cut my hair for a couple years and I'm not an easy customer for a salon! I have been disappointed with 90% of my cuts which is why I keep coming back. The aesthetic in the salon is on point. Great design is a good indication of a creative atmosphere, which is what I want my stylist to work in. I would highly recommend this place to anyone over the other places in Wheaton or the burbs for that matter. I live in DT Chicago and come here to have my haircut. The staff was friendly & they have a great arrangement for shampooing. Alas, the cut that I got was, well, sad. I wear my hair short, and it's very thick & heavy. I tried to make it clear that I needed A LOT of the weight taken out, and texturizing it heavily had proven to be the best way to go about it. They said they understood, explained their plan & I thought we were on the same page. Somehow I went home looking dowdier than when I'd come in. I've since found another salon that has a much greater appreciation for the techniques required to deliver a really great short haircut, and I'll be going there from now on. read more

I followed my awesome stylist Holly from where she originally worked to M&Co more than five years ago. I liked the original salon quite a bit, so I was nervous about making the switch, but not following Holly was out of the question - she is a skilled, friendly and punctual stylist (I have never had to wait more than 3 minutes when I arrive, and she's always done in a timely fashion!), but it turns out I didn't need to worry. M&Co is a bright, airy salon with a relaxing spa-like hair washing area that is walled off to the rest of the salon, making it a restful sanctuary! The women working at the desk are always friendly with a warm greeting, and they quickly usher guests to their stylists, offering them something to drink. The Salon recently expanded its space in the past year or so with a second hair-washing area, waiting area and more stylist stations. The new space is just as lovely as the original. On a personal note, Holly has always given me the exact cut I want, and her highlights are excellent, too. I can't recommend Holly and M&Co enough! read more

Gahhh I can't stop raving about this place!!!! I am so impressed with everything! The staff are all so incredibly nice, relaxed, friendly and educated. I had the pleasure of having Piper as my stylist, who knew exactly how to achieve what I wanted by showing her inspo pictures and describing my color. She was great: friendly, educated and I felt very comfortable. This goes alongside the assistant who washed my hair, she was incredibly nice and was so careful. I love the fact that the hair washing station is closed off in its own area and so relaxing with quiet music playing, because let's me honest, that is my favorite part of going to a high end salon!
