Leon de Bruxelles is a popular chain for mussels and fries (moules et frites) and it's DELICIOUS. At least I thought so when I ate here. *Location: A short walk from Republique metro, you can sit outside or indoors. *Service: The waiter was very kind and served us attentively and efficiently. He checked in on us frequently as well and gave us recommendations, knowing it was our first time here. We came at an odd time, around 3pm and barely anyone was in the restaurant, which was nice! *Food: Mussels were sweet, big, and flavorful. The mussels came in a huge circular pan! I love the fries and think it paired well with the beer we were having (recommended by our waiter, thanks!) Overall there are certainly many Leon de Bruxelles and moules et frites locations in Paris. I have only tried this one. I'd come back. It was decent portions of food and good service.

A chain of Belgian restaurants that specialize in mussels and fries. A reliable and tasty meal is had whichever spot you choose and the service at the republique location was excellent. Good atmosphere. Quick service and good food. Had the curried muscles fries and a pelforth Pilsner was good.

Pretty good but ther service was awful

My wife and I booked this for lunch and were not disappointed!…read more It's a sharp restaurant with a clean look, prompt service, and exceptionally presented food. Plus, it is very good!! The menu may be a bit confusing, but our server cleared up any questions. (a la carte vs prix fixe) We started with a complimentary terrine with gherkins and onions which were delicious. I had the Brittany scallops in a pesto and citrus dressing topped with parmigiana reggiano - absolutely amazing! Mains were the braised beef cheeks which were melt in your mouth and a tender roasted veal. The smoothest puréed potatoes and a crispy potato gaufrette were perfect accompaniments. The Grand Marnier soufflé was the perfect ending to an outstanding lunch. I look forward to returning to La Regalade for another lunch or perhaps dinner.

I won't go into detail about each dish, but the main course, the pork belly, was cooked perfectly--so tasty and beautifully braised. The soufflé, which originally attracted me to this restaurant, was amazing! However, I do wish it had some whipped cream to enhance the flavor. Overall, it was a great date night, and it's definitely a place we'd visit again!

We each got a small order of frites (3.50 Euro each). A small order (a "cornet") comes with one sauce, so I got mayo and my husband got ketchup. Yes, they call it ketchup here, not sauce tomate. The frites are PLENTIFUL. I am a big person with a hearty appetite, and I could not finish mine. So how are they, you ask? They are fresh (you can watch your order being dunked in the oil for the second time) and hot and tasty - crisp outside, tender inside, just like they doctor ordered. Are they life-changing? No. Did I have a frites epiphany? I did not. But are they crunchy and yummy and filling and do they hit the spot? Yes, yes, yes, and yes.

I tasted the oil the potatoes were fried in, which I did not like. Also it wasn't salted as much as I would like, but that could be my personal preference. I wanted to like this place but sadly I was disappointed. I would rather get McDonald's fries.

Twice they were within reach but proved elusive and unobtainable (the places ran out). Finally, hours before boarding a US bound plane I stumbled upon this joint. A lively, crowded beer "academy". This is my kind of school. The beer menu alone is 4 pages of detailed listings and the food, with minor exceptions, may be considered an afterthought. Clearly, as you can see from everyone around, the food to get here is MUSSELS. They come 5 different ways (e.g. cream sauce, mustard sauce, beer sauce), you get an insanely huge amount, they're cheap (7 - 8 euro), and delicious. That, a side of frites for sauce-dipping (4 euro), a few beers, and you'll be happily sated. I also enjoyed a simply delicious sardine starter: canned, olive oil packed sardines beside a perfect salad of butter lettuce in a dijon vinegarette. There. Go no further. If you decide to have the steak (15.5 euro), I can't say you weren't warned. It was pure garbage meat. Outside seating here is under a protective enclosure and the resulting acoustics, though noisy, make the place feel festive while still allowing for easy conversation. Mussels and beer, head here. No reservations needed.

We had an amazing waitress who was just on point with all our needs even after she was given a 25-person table once our group of 4 was seated. I can't even begin to describe the food as it was exactly what it looked like and what we wanted. In my mafaldine al tartufo avec jambon a la truffe d'ete, it had the perfect amount of truffle and saltiness - especially with the jambon topping. The moules a la creme and moules pasta was bountiful and fresh. The fresh brick-oven-cooked pizza was outstanding and also deserving of equal praise. The inside of the restaurant is warmly lit and inviting to any sized groups wanting to try out this place. Would recommend and come back again when shopping Champs-Elysées!

It's clearly popular with the local student population for the drinks, but we decided to have dinner here because I was really craving some moules frites, which I saw was one of the popular dishes here. We started with the shrimp and avocado salad to share, which was simple yet fine. It was a really hot evening so we didn't want too heavy a meal. My mussels were quite good, small and tender, a very generous pot and well-cleaned/cooked (I don't think there were more than 1 or 2 unopened ones in the bottom.) I could have used a little more broth with them, but a minor quibble. My sweetie got the steak au poivre; our waitress first asked, "Well done?" (I guess they assume that's what Americans want? The horror!) to which I said no, make how the chef likes. It came out perfectly medium rare with an excellent crust, and sweetie declared it the best steak he'd had anywhere in a long, long time. Dessert was "pineapple carpaccio", which was fine for a really hot night, but for 7.50 Euro I would have expected a bit more than three slices of pineapple and some whipped cream. Still, overall we had a very good meal and I'd go back for the drinks, the mussels, and that steak!
